Satellite A100-691 - BIOS Version 1.70 - encryption HD
Hello!
I wondered about the function to protect the hard drive in the bios with a password. What's another ' If-password-correct-go-on-booting"-function or he really to encrypt the hard drive and protects me from data theft, even when the hard drive is being adapted to another laptop, which does not have the password?
Best regards
Hello
BIOS password is not the same as the HARD drive password. HARD drive password is saved directly on HARD drive and there is no chance to do something without this password. Password BIOS will block the use of the laptop and no one will be able to boot your laptop, but on this way, the content of the HARD drive is not 100% sure.

Some issues with the new facility on Satellite A100-691
Hello
yesterday, I received the laptop from a friend of mine.
He had a troyan horse program, so we decided to install everything again. We use the product recovery CD for the Installation of XP, then 'Tools & Utilities CD Rom', but there are now a few problems:the following things are listed with a "?" in the Device Manager:
Ethernet controller (PCI Bus 0, device 27, function 0)
mass storage controller (Bus PCI 7, device 6, function 2)
network controller (PCI-Streckplatz 9 (Bus: 5 PCI, device 0, function 0))
PCI device (Bus PCI 7, device 6, function 3)
PCI device (PCI Bus 0, device 27, function 0)
videocontroller (VGA compatible) (6 PCI-outlet (Bus PCI 1, device 0, function 0))on the CD are drivers for nvidia, I installed them, you can find it in the softwarelist, but I can't the solution what luck that any other then 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768
After I installed all the software from the cd rom, I got a message that hkdrv - this driver is absent with Everest there is no listed grafic card, so I can watch, if there is an ATI or Nvidia card in Notepad
I looked throug google and guides toshiba helf, downloaded all the drivers and updates here, but nothing changesThe laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A100-691 model N°-PSAA9E-09800QGR
Plese help me. (o)
Hello!
Why have you tried to install the nvidia drivers? The Satellite A100 has an ATI Radeon X 1400 graphics card and an Intel chipset, so you n t need stuff or drivers from nvidia.
I think that you have installed a lot of drivers, which are not necessary. So in your case I would reinstall the laptop again and if you use the recovery disk, you n t need any driver more.
If you need drivers, look at the Toshiba site: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
There is also the Installation Instructions the software and drivers are recommended.Good bye

Satellite A100 PSAA2A - BIOS recognize only 1 GB of RAM after upgrade
Hello
I have a Satellite A100 PSAA2A. RAM is up to 2GB (2 slots).
Now, I have 256MB + 512 MB (Kingston KVR533D2/S4/512) total = 768 MB (Samsung 256 MB DDRII 533FSB).
It works wellI want to improve my RAM. I've got Kingston KTT533D2 / 1 G
I have 512 MB + 1024 MB = 1.5 GBI removed 256 MB to 1 GB. Now she has 512 MB and 1024 MB
But BIOS recognizes only 1 GB (Windows XP as well). I changed my slot machines, a different combination made - always 1 GB (not 1, 5 GB)I checked each memory separately 256 MB, 512 MB, 1024MB - works well, but combination of combination and 512 MB + 1024 MB 256 MB + 1024 MB do not work.
I did a BIOS upgrade and set version 2.3
Any ideas guys?
Thank you.
I m not sure but I think the problem are two different modules. They come from different manufacturers have different abilities.
If you want to, or more than 1 GB RAM, use should use the same modules. At a time when prices are cheap.
But you can also test the RAM with special tools like Memtest86:

Satellite A100-188: BIOS downgrade - how?
Hello
first sorry for my bad English.
I have to update my bios from version 1.3 to 2.0. After that I have problems when I start the system.
toshibe says it's not possible to downgrade. in this forum I read that it is possible.
I read that in an Italian forum can I find help, but I Don t understand the Italian language.
the user in this forum 'alter_schwede' and 'fizzban' can help me. (in German). When one of these 2 users read that please contact me. ICQ: 131260081
or by e-mail [email protected]Hello
First of all, to my knowledge the BIOS downgrade is not possible.
Secondly, on the Toshiba page, I found only the latest BIOS (not the older versions). In addition, on the Toshiba driver page, you will find 3 different models of Satellite A100.
AFAIK the A100-188 is a unit of PSAA9E.
Therefore, it is important that you used good BIOS and that it have updated with the proper procedure.
Bad BIOS and bad upgrade procedure may damage the motherboard or some problems with the functionality of the device.I guess you used the wrong BIOS. In this case, you will need to contact the ASP from Toshiba for the return of the BIOS.
You might try updating again with the good BIOS. -
TR/agent.1220467 detected as I ran that Satellite A100 PSAA2E BIOS update file
I was about to update my BIOS Toshiba laptop Satellite A100 PSAA2E on-site official (I downloaded the update file and unpacked to run it):
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_b * ios.jsp? service = EU
When my antivirus (Avira Antivir Personal) has detected a TR/agent.1220467Of course, I stopped everything, asked to remove, Avira have another full scan, it was deleted again and restarted my PC.
I am always very careful with what I download, but as I trusted blindly the official site of Toshiba as being safe, I don't run a virus scan on the file update and stupidly flat it once it has been downloaded.
HOW CAN TOSHIBA HAVE INFECTED FILES TO UPDATE HIS SITE? This is really unacceptable. And now how I will:
1. ensure that this virus is gone for good?
2. switch to update my BIOS knowing that it is not safe to do?Please help me!
.. .and make sure that this file to update the BIOS is not infecting hundreds of other users!Hello
Don t worry buddy there is no virus
The BIOS file is safe and I guess that your virus scan recognized the file as a virus because of the similar application proceduresFirst of all you should not update your BIOS if your laptop works well!
Second, you must disable all 3 rd party applications like virus, firewall, malware, software software of scans, while the BIOS update!
These tools can affect or interrupt the process of updating the BIOS and the laptop cannot! You know that the update of the BIOS is a sensitive technique and if something goes wrong during the update, then you will not be able to power the device!

Re: Satellite A100-813 - BIOS reports inserted 3 GB but 4 GB
Satellite A100-813
Model No.: PSAA8ERecently, my laptop 2 GB memory @ 533 mhz were bad and I decided at this level to 4 GB and carried 2 x 2 GB @ 633 mhz.
Though according to the instructions in the manual, it supports 4 GB maximum, but my bios shows/3 gb.My Windows 7 64 bit, shows 4 gb, but with 3 GB usable.
Please if someone can help me get all the 4 GB, is there any problem with the highest FSB.I thought also of shared video memory, but when only 2 GB is inserted, the bios displays full 2 GB.
The laptop supports Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset
The chip supports the 4 GB of RAM.
Then you should be able to use 4 GBWhat the BIOS update?
Check this boxWith regard to the recognition of the Windows RAM:
In msconfig.exe to go to the boot tab, click Advanced Options, make sure that the Maximum memory checkbox is unchecked -
Satellite A100 - update BIOS problem with phlashnt.sys and Vista 64
I downloaded the upgrade of BIOS (file S10V600.exe) for my Toshiba Satellite A100-437 (PSAA8). When I try to launch it I get the answer:
"Unable to load driver.
... \PHLASHNT. SYS
...
This driver has been blocked form load.
Error code: 1275 "
(I rolled points instead of less interesting part of this message. My system is Vista Business 64 - bit SP1.
I turned off User Account Control (in fact it the first thing I did after installing Vista ;)).
And just to be safe, I also tried to right click on the S10V600.exe file and choose "Run as Administrator".
I was using the admin account.Nothing did. Always the same window with the above message appeared.
Any help would be appreciated!
Concerning
Maybe it's because you have installed Vista 64-bit?
You may need to use XP or Vista 32 bit update of the BIOS.

Satellite L300D-01N - BIOS version original need
Hello
had a bad bios flash when you try to apply PSLC8-PSLE8-180 - WIN.exe (Ver 1.80, 10/27/2009) updated the bios of my Satellite L300D-01N, model # PSLC8C-01N019
now, the unit does not come on at all - I'm trying to restore it to work but it is impossible to find a copy of the bios file updated (from the active windows self-extracting program Toshiba update bios) during installation
(I tried to extract it on another pc that the portable original is a brick now but still no luck)I was able to confirm that I can get the system to the laptop using the CRC, but I need a copy of the * original * BIOS that came with these units so I can reflash.
does anyone have a copy of the original bios this device before you apply this update (ver. 1.8 2009-10-27)?Please note that I was not myself tried this update of the BIOS, so I don't have a copy of the original anywhere.
Can you send me a copy please?
Thnaks a lot
Hi lostboy77,
BIOS reflash is possible only to an authorized service. If the BIOS update has filed, you can do nothing. :(
I know it's hard to hear, but you must understand that the update of the BIOS is always somewhat risky and if it wasn t flashed correctly, your laptop won't boot any more. So it of not so easy a Windows Update
Anyway, here you can get a quick and professional help:

2.6.32 - 5-amd64 satellite Linux #1 SMP Wed Jan 12 03:40:32 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/LinuxThan me?
Thank you.Hello
Have you checked this using Windows 64 bit OS?
Fact is that the BIOS recognized the full 4 GB of RAM. The chipset seems to support the 4 GB RAM as well.
If the BONE is the last reason why all of the 4 GB are not recognized. -
What's new in the aviable for Satellite A100-PSAA9 Bios?
I canoe found a chanlog :(
Hey Bela
What you're looking for? You need information about the new version of BIOS or what?
Currently, you can find a newer version of the BIOS on Toshiba page.
I checked the site and it seems that the 5.10 version was published on 25/01/07 and operating system independent.
Unfortunately, you won't find information about the change of the new version of the BIOS.
It seems European Toshiba site doesn't provide details. -
Satellite A100-151: BIOS Downgrade

I upgraded my BIOS Notebook´s to Version 1.80.
Now, I have some problems of grafical (screen looks a bit like JPG-arthefacts). Not nice.
Is it possible to downgrade the (before the upgrade is recorded) BIOS-file BIOS. BAK?
If the answer is "Yes", if you please tell me how to do it.Thanx, Carsten

I read in this forum that it of not possible to downgrade the BIOS.
Only the Toshiba service partner can do. In my opinion, they use special tools for downgrade BIOS. -
Satellite A100 - 599: BIOS setup password problem!
After that I decided to turn back to xp from vista, I used ghost do that but after reboot my laptop started giving causion Virus. I thought error provided by the BIOS and I wanted to disable this warning, but I could not once I did everything (back of the door passages, clear cmos on the back) I couldn't find the solution.
Please I need help how can erase the BIOS password Setup. My BIOS is phoenix and version 6.0! Thank you right now!
HM, it's unfortunate, but unfortunately, you will need to contact an authorized service center and ask them for help because they are the one and only who could probably help you with your problem.
As far as I know, the BIOS must be something hard that cannot be revoked by typing certain codes that must be presented by toshiba in the Japan. And since they don t give such secrets out to end users like us, you have to click [HERE: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871] and contact the nearest ASP in your country.
Cheers and good luck
