Satellite A100 - how to reinstall XP?

My laptop was not supplied with a copy of Windows. As a result of various performance problems, I was informed that a reinstall of XP would be the best way to go. Is it possible that the resettlement files are hidden on my hard drive, as implied by this article on pcworld.com http://www.pcworld.com/article/129977/how_to_reinstall_windows_xp.html?

My laptop is a Satellite A - 100 running Windows XP Media Center. I have access to XP disks but would of course prefer to clean my system with the software that Toshiba had intend me runs, if possible.

Installing XP is very easy.
Put the disc in the drive and the start of this drive.

How to start? :
Turn on the laptop press F12, new start menu should appear and choose here ODD (CD/DVD drive)
The Win XP installation should start, then you will see the HARD drive and partitions created on the HARD drive. It s advisable to format the partition where the BONE at the beginning has been installed.
Format, and launch the installation of Win XP on this partition.

That's it... Wait for windows XP installation is finished and restart the laptop.

Toshiba drivers are located on the above mentioned page!

  • Satellite A100: How to reinstall the operating system with recovery CD?

    Hi guys,.

My laptop (8 months) has been crashing (Windows XP) lately and I tried to use the product recovery CD but nothing happened (the laptop failed to boot from the CD, instead, she starts toward the window of connection for Windows XP Home edition). When I open the CD in windows Explorer, then I realized it was empty. Is it supposed to be empty?

Even if the laptop came with a second CD, "Express Media Player Recovery CD", I think that's going to be for recovering pre-installed software supplied with the system.

I guess I can contact Toshiba for another free product recovery CD (or are they supposed to be two?) my system is still under warranty.

Please I need confirmation on this asap.

    Hello

It's very strange, I can't believe that the Toshiba Recovery CD is empty!
There must certainly be a ghost image.
    Very, very strange and mysterious

The Express Media Player recovery CD retrieves only the Media Express Player but not the entire operating system!
I also recommend to ask the ASP in your country for a replacement CD recovery.
Perhaps you could send guys the empty recovery CD because they do not believe! ;)

  • Satellite A100: How do I enable SATA NATIVE mode

Hello, my laptop Satellite A100 PSAA9 and the southbridge is an ICH7M
I put an SSD in my laptop and the drive controller is locked-> Ultra DMA 6 IDE compatible mode.
I would switch to the native SATA-1 to increase the bandwidth (from 110 MB/s-150), but I can't find any setting so that, in the last BIOS 6.00

I think that maybe in the past, Toshiba has enable this feature, but I suppose they might have turned it off for beginners who don't know how to install the SATA drivers during the installation of Windows.

I found Toshiba BIOS database, but it is locked by a password.
I'm willing to test any BIOS that could re - enable native SATA mode

+ The message was edited: link has been removed - unauthorized +.

    Hello

You need the native SATA controller?

The laptop was equipped with a controller SATA interface supports the Serial ATA Rev. 1. 0a.

Some laptop models take a BIOS that contains a SATA mode option.
This option can be changed on AHCI or in compatibility mode.

But as far as I know a100 BIOS does not contain these settings

  • Satellite A100 - how to install "Windows XP MCE" on a new HARD drive?

I have a laptop Satellite A100-495. the cd/dvd does not work and I have a new hard drive. Now, I want to install the original os (windows xp professional, mce).
I'm trying to put the files of my original restore on a USB cd but never works and I did not find useful clues in any part of the forum.

Is there anyone out there who can help me?

    Hi, marawe

It would never work if you just copy the files from recovery Cd on a usb key. You need to make a BOOTABLE FLASH DISK, to do you need an application like Flashbot... Google.
Download and install it, after that you can make a bootable usb key.
You should know that your Bios must support boot with a Usb key, I don't know about your knees. Otherwise, you cannot do so. Hope it works

    Anyway check this please

I checked this and it gives an answer how to create a partition, but not how to reinstall xp in drive c from the recovery disc.

There is the choice to go to the expert, but once there, I have no idea what to do. A lot of possible settings, but nothing to say how to reinstall xp without annihilating all other readers.

Can someone help me? I have Toshiba Satallite A100 series with XP SP3 at start up I get an error for maybe 2 weeks ago. My mistake: a fatel error occurred this program will terminate code: oxo (Tosheba energy saving)

How can I fix this error on my laptop?

    Hello!

I think you should try to reinstall Toshiba Power Saver. The latest version, you can download the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Before installing the latest version, delete the old version in Control Panel. Then, restart the computer and install the latest version on the Toshiba site you downloaded.

  • Satellite A500 - how to reinstall the original Windows 7?

    Hello

I bought the Toshiba Satellite A500-19U and Windows 7. I tried to create a new partition, then I've done assets so he hid, after restarting the laptop, I had a black screen and massage (bootmgr is missing)

So I installed another copy of Windows 7 just to connect to my computer. Then after the copy of Windows 7 installation I made inactive D if it appeared there is file recovery. So my question is: as long as I have this file I want to reinstall the original Windows 7 I have in the drive hard, but how?

When I press F and repair, then it does not give the last option of HARD drive recovery! Why and I have the recovery file?

    Please help me

    Hello

I guess you didn't read the manual user, first of all. I m right? ;)

Well, normally HARD drive recovery you can start if you go into the advanced boot menu (F8) and select Repair my computer. After that, you can choose the option of HARD drive recovery.

But I guess that this isn't possible anymore because you have installed another copy of Windows 7. If this menu isn't available anymore.

The only option to restore factory settings using the Toshiba recovery disc. Did you create it? This can be through with preinstalled creative drive recovery Toshiba but if you didn t create it, it s too late now, too.

The only option now is to order a new drive Toshiba Recovery directly. So take a look in your user manual.

    Hello

As you probably know, the Toshiba Recovery disk is not the same as an original Microsoft disc.

The recovery disk contains an image and the use of the recovery disk will format the whole HARD drive and will remove all data stored on the HARD drive.

If you cannot keep the data on the HARD drive using the recovery disk because you will lose.

I think you need to back up the important docs before using the recovery disk.

  • Satellite A100 - how to re-install the package of value added?

I had a problem with the crash of flashcards since I got my A100 is about 2 years. Today, I finally downloaded the update to the VAP and tried to install it. I received an error message telling me to remove the old VAP first. When I try to do via the Control Panel, the installation program seems to work according to the Manager of tasks (uninstaller?) but the progress bar never changes and the silence as computer advice that nothing is really happening. I tried this twice already, leaving to run for 30 minutes each time.

    I have 3 questions:

    1. can I update the VAP otherwise?
    2. can I solve the problem of flashcard otherwise crash?
    3. can anyone the flashcards explain to me in simple terms? Why are important (or useful)? I don't really understand them and never use them but have heard of problems if they are deleted.

Please respond in terms of novice.
    Thank you.

    Hello!

As I know the Toshiba value added Package can only be updated if you first remove the old version. I also recommend this way.
But maybe you should try to remove the added value package with CCleaner. This program cleans the registry and the system. Then install it and clean the system. After this attempt to delete the VAP.
