Satellite A110-160 turns off by itself when im making a dvd to divx conversion
My Toshiba A110-160 turns off by itself (abruptly) when im making a dvd to divx (autogk for example) conversion.
This has not happened before...
I use a bios updated to v1.7 (the latest).
Do you think that it is because of this? I also did an upgrade (2GB, 667 mhz) memory and I use ubuntu and windows xp.
Any ideas?
Hello
I Don t have a clue why the machine will stop automatically and I can't give you a quick solution, but I can give you an idea how to make some accurate diagnosis:
Remove the newly installed module and try again. Then give some feedback if it worked. If not, he should discuss more about this issue, would appreciate some comments from you.
Good bye

Satellite A60 is turned off by itself
Hi all
I have a Toshiba Satellite A60, and she herself is turned off. I had this problem 2 years ago and had to change the hard drive with the disk driver, but was covered by my warranty. It has been resolved for 7 months, but back. Now the same problem is more frequent, especially in the last days.
Another thing, whenever I move it to another room (you have to walk on the stairs, so maybe something is moving, or as the other room is usually really hot), I have this problem more frequently.I don't know that it's an overheating problem! Sometimes it's really hot.
I opened it to check if the fans (there are 2 large and the other small) are working well and they seem to be.
When we keep the keyboard not attached, it works perfectly for hours, however, as soon as I attach, it get overheated and shut down.I'm running out of ideas and to consider difficulty will cost you a huge amount of money, and to be honest, I'm not sure that it be resolved.
In cars, there is a kind of thermometer, which could be the temperature. I was wondering it's the same in the laptop, if it is also in cars, according to the room temperature, and if it is what creates this problem.
Everything has any suspicion what should I do?
Thank you.
NassimHello
Since the opening of you´ve I guess that you didn t took a glance to the fat of cooling on the CPU. In your case, I would do the following:
Looking for someone who is very familiar with laptops or laptop technician. Ask him to replace the fat of cooling on your CPU and graphics card.
The problem should be solved by replacing this cooling fats and clean the fans of dust and debris. The machine should be run after all the action without any problem.

Satellite P300 - randomly turns off the power when connected to the external monitor
Hello
I have a Satellite P300, Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53 GHz, 4 GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 512 MB, running Windows 7 ultimate x 64.
Recently, I bought an AOC v22 led screen and connect my conputer via HDMI. Everything works fine, but sometimes my computer off just randomly. I might have something to do with my computer overheating, so I clean the fan, but this was not good.
I think it has something to do with the LED screen because my computer was never off his own.
Hello
So this also happens if you n t connect laptop to external display? So, you can determine what is causing this problem.
If the computer laptop doesn t turn off without external monitor, you should try to update the BIOS and the display driver. Two updates that you can find on the Toshiba site:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download driversYou close the lid if you have connected the external monitor?
What operating system do you use?In addition, it would be interesting to know how you clean the laptop. That's why I use the jet of compressed air that can blow the dust from the cooling fans and you don't have to disassemble the laptop.
Good bye

Why Satellite 200cds will turn off by itself?
After 25 minutes to do not touch, weather active or not, it just shuts down and the power led flashes red (all other LEDs are off). He's not coming by pressing the power button then.
I don't think that there is a power management, because it is so old, but I can't be sure, I have found no manual of Toshiba or Google sites. Can anyone tell what the power blinks red led?
Hello
It's a FAIRLY OLD machine so I wonder why you´re always use it. Isn´t a little nostalgic, it? ;)
Regarding your problem: this 'extinction' appears exactly 25 minutes? It would be useful to know whether the machine really has some powermanagment then you should be able to change settings in the bios.
If you know how to get to the bios, then it try it. Unfortunately, I Don t know how to get the bios on this machine (perhaps by pressing ESC, DEL or F2... I'm not sure).
See you soon

Satellite A200 will turn off by itself continuously
Hello
I have a problem with my laptop because it stops itself constantly, having used internet for 30 minutes, or immediately after launching a major program like photoshop or autocad or a game.
I spotted that it also runs very hot fast in a few minutes could be related? What could be the problem?
Hi mate.
Quest - what? I think I know what could cause this problem.
I think that it s associated with high temperature. The CPU and the GPU create a lot of heat while running a powerful software (app chart, games, etc.).
Eventually, the cooling modules can cool the CPU because of dust.Remove dust from the cooling fans and the grids using a jet of compressed air.
This tool is very useful and can be bought from different merchants online.Ciao

Satellite P200 randomly turns off by itself
Do not know what is happening, every now and then it shuts it self without reason.
I used recovery disks several times and it keeps doing. Very frustrating. Any help would be appreciated!
I don't think that receives it to portable hot.
That s a normal reason if a laptop has problems with the cooling part, and then gets it CPU hot and stop itself. In your case I would clean the laptop. You can use the jet of compressed air, it could blow the dust from the ventilation of cooling.

Satellite P15-S470 it turns off by itself - overheating?
Hello
3-4 years old laptop Toshiba Satellite P15-S470 my father seems to be overheating because it turns off by itself. It can happen at any time: in Windows XP Media Center 2004 (SP2 and all updates), at the prompt of password of BIOS at idle, at Windows startup, etc.
Also, I can feel the fan blowing hot air hard left, the area of the battery being hot and the CD/DVD ejected hot.
Hot note does NOT mean too hot to touch with my hands/fingers.I used a flashlight to look through the dark wind, and he looked clean (not so dusty or obstructed upward). I removed a few small items to make more air space for the winds, and that seems to help after a few minutes.
Is there a program/software for checking laptop temperature sensors? I checked the CMOS area, but you could not like office machines. Site Web de Toshiba does not have one either.
Are there ways to remedy (out of warranty)? I guess that the fans are still working because I can hear it turn very hard (quieter, if it's cool). I'm afraid it will get worse when the weather warms (Los Angeles weather) in particular this weekend when temperatures reach near 100 degrees (F).
It is only in low 70 in the kitchen downstair on a glass table. The laptop started doing this a few weeks ago, but it seems to get worse when the weather warms. In addition, the laptop is usually [powered on site thanks to its power adapter.
Battery use is rare (will try to remove the battery, if the problem occurs again to see if it causes the problem).
Thank you in advance. :)
Hello
You said that the laptop is about 3-4 years of age?
Hey dude, it is a very long time and in my opinion, the laptop must be cleaned professionally.
For me it s a clear case. the fans don't run with maximum efficiency and therefore may not cool properly the laptop parts.I recommend contacting specialist and portable and it assistance. He could clean the module cooling grids and the fan inside.

C50-A-1HF satellite will turn off by itself after 2 seconds
Hello
the laptop turns off by itself after 2 seconds when I turn it on. This happens if I shutted down or choosed hibernate before (Win8.1).
This means hibernation is not at all useable.
The next time I turn it on it works quite normal! Sleep mode works as well. Standby mode it is ready for use after open them both as a repetitive. Fascinating!
I looked on all the settings of the BIOS, but I found nothing what could be the reason for this behavior.
Perhaps there is a correlation with another strange behavior. The battery will not be charged over 80%. I do not use the green mode. I have to turn off the laptop and remove the battery completely for a minute. After inserting and booting Win8.1 what it charges again at 100%.
The discharge time is approximately 3.5 hours. Otherwise, the battery is ok.
But after the next discharge up to 10% charge that up to 80% more.
These two effects are not normal. But I don't think (or better, I hope) that there is a material defect.
Is there a chance does not post the laptop to a repair service?
Best regards
Onurbi
Hey man it are so strange problems and it's not easy to say what to do. All you can do is to install the original recovery image and test with the settings once more, of course without changing anything or install updates or additional applications.
If possible to do this and test it for a while.
> Is there a chance does not post the laptop to a repair service?
As you probably know your possibilities to do something about this are very limited and if there is permanent problem I think you should contact the closest service Toshiba and clarify all of this.
You have the new laptop model and it should work properly. If you are not happy and there are service problems Toshiba should take are about it and help you. -
Satellite series is turning off itself
Hello
I have a Toshiba laptop which is the series of satellites. It s quite old, as I've had around 2001-2002. It's a portable Windows XP Home.
I had just done a bit of problems with it, viruses, etc.. However, after the recent removal of virus, the laptop worked well up until now.
Now the problem is that the laptop lights well, everything goes normally, and when my little brother play a game like Counter Strike, after, say 10-15 minutes, the laptop turns off completely! When I start it again, it starts normally, no errors reported. I need to know what the problem is!Any help, tips, advice and recommendations are welcome and much appreciated!
Thanks a bunch!
Umair SharifHello Umair
From your description of the problem is overheating. The laptop is old enough, and I imagine that a lot of dust. Dust blocks the cooling fans and the material cannot be cooled properly. The result is overheating and suddenly switching OFF. It's a kind of mechanism to protect and every time when material reaches the temperature level critical the laptop switches OFF.
All you have to do is to remove the dust. After having this laptop works perfectly again.

Satellite 2430-S255 turns off during playback of video clips
My laptop Toshiba Satellite 2430-s255 turns off 5 minutes every time I play streaming video clips to web sites using Windows Media Player version 10.0. I have uninstall the version 10 and used version 9, but there is no difference. Computer has 512 meg of memory and 10 GB of additional space on the hard drive.
There is no problem when I play DVD using the same software.
Toshiba support has been telling me that cpu is working hard and it heats up because of this problem. I used the fan to circulate the air, but the computer still shuts off.
Can help.
Christiane
HI Fanny,.
Any graphic activity will tend to make your laptop run more hot and therefore sufficient cooling.
Make sure that your airway through the CPU radiator is not clogged with dust and debris (a lot of discussions in this forum about this) and also ensure that there is sufficient air under your laptop knife get in the fan air vents.

My Satellite L555-L11 turns off suddenly very
Hello
My satellite L555 L11 turns off very suddenly. It seems that it s because of the heat, as when it arrives, I put my hand under the laptop and feel a too high temperature.
my laptop is 5 years
What should I do?
thx for you answerI think your laptop is quite full of dust and I can imagine that cooling rack is blocked so that your laptop is unable to catch his breath.
Believe me, that cleaning can help. Best thing you can do is professional cleaning. In this case the laptop must be disassembled. Otherwise, you can buy compressed air and try to clean it.

Satellite P840 screen turns off
The screen of my laptop turns off without warning when I browse the internet or interact with any program. When he arrives, the power button is still on and I could still hear the sounds of the programs that I used or the buttons on the front lock screen has produced.
Sometimes I get a BSOD. Also, before that happens often, I notice that my laptop freezes before he died. The only course of action open to me is to force my laptop shut down. However, I am worried if this would happen in a critical situation like an update.
Initially, I would say that it would be interesting to know what Satellite P do you have exactly and what operating system you use.
Problem described is quite strange, and it is not easy to understand what happens exactly and why.Since when did you notice this?
I put t know what to do, but in my opinion you should backup all your data, reinstall the OS using HARD drive recovery option and after doing this, you will clean preinstalled OS and this shouldn't happen again. Of course, this is a more radical but certainly more effective method.
What do you think?

I have a Compaq PC with processor Dual-Core AMD Athlon X 2 5000, and it runs Windows Vista Edition Home Premium... In my view, that is running Service Pack 2. I use the computer to check my e-mail, my YouTube and Facebook accounts (and possibly other accounts spread I connect to).
I usually use Internet Explore to browse the web. Sometimes my computer turns off by itself due to overheating. But whenever when this happens, when I turn my computer back on and return to the use of the Internet, I've totally frustrated to find that all my accounts were automatically disconnected!
Even when I check these boxes to keep me connected to these accounts when I turn on the computer again after a successful stop, my accounts still get disconnected!
It only seems to happen when my computer turns off by itself without stopping... mainly due to overheating. When I turn on the computer again after a successful regular stop, my accounts are automatically saved on once again, due to activate me "Keep me connected" by checking these little boxes. But after a situation when the computer is off all the time (either by himself for a reason, either by me with strength to turn it off when my computer crashes), my accounts do not remain.
How can I prevent my accounts automatically be disconnected so that whenever I start the computer, after it turns off by itself, my internet accounts turned on? There must be a patch for this embarrassing situation here on the internet.
Perhaps because an improper shutdown / forced can inpact on different parameters.
Your must not PC in all cases be having heat problems, you need to fix this (heat) before it turns into something terminal
