Satellite A200 does not correctly reduce or increase the volume

Hello

Our Satellite A200 is having problems with its Volume control wheel.
If I turn the wheel (on the left or in the past), it does not correctly to reduce or increase the volume level.
He jumps rather the volume level in seemingly random directions (with a preference for the volume).
Turn the wheel slowly improves responsiveness a little, but it remains quite impossible to increase or decrease the volume control that to be.

BTW, I am well aware that the volume control wheel is a wheel of puls-encoder rather than ye olde potentiometer.

-Can anyone you tell me where I can find the configuration that is responsible for this Volume control wheel?
-Which driver/firmware is attached to the order of the volume control?
-How can I determine if this is a hardware or software problem?

Advice would be welcome.

Stephan

Hello

There is no software or hardware problem.
It is a new generation of volume control.

First of all there is no mechanical limit turning right or left.
In addition, this volume controller works a little different than the old volume controllers. The volume can be increased and decreased using the fixed rate

By the way;
> Can someone tell me where I can find the configuration that is responsible for this Volume control wheel?
You can change the volume as in the sound settings that could be found in the control panel.
> Which driver/firmware is attached to the order of the volume control?
Audio driver controls the volume controller.
> How can I determine if this is a hardware or software problem?
There is no problem

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 on VISTA.
The laptop does not start. I can get to the Toshiba splash screen, but don't go no more far just get the blocking of the laptop and the display one? symbol at the top right of the screen.

    I tried

-Reset to the factory settings (no difference)
-Starting with the battery and output (no difference)
-Withdrawal of the memory modules and try different configurations (no difference)
-Remove the hard drive (screen displays the details of Intel and say no HD media detected no screen Toshiba either)
-Pressing the button to try to get in windows safe mode (can t happen).

Title information, under settings, I see the hard drive and DVD player is connected is connected.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi mate

It seems that you have already tried all possible solution proposals
But what happens if you start the laptop using a bootable diskette. for example, recovery disk, disk Win XP, Linux live CD, etc?

I knew it could be a HARD drive problem, even if the HARD drive is correctly detected by the BIOS
Maybe a replacement HARD drive might help maybe.

Otherwise, it could be a serious hardware problem I m thinking: motherboard

    What do you think?

  • Satellite A200 does not illuminate

    Hello!

I have a Toshiba satellite a200, it lights, it gives me a black screen and 1 long and 2 short beeps, the only lights that light up are the witness of load and the light of the HARD drive, what's the problem?

I emptied the power from the motherboard and replaced the RAM.

Well, usually its nothing unusual for the laptop to do one or two short beeps during the startup process.
But if the laptop will beep and the system does not have a serious hardware problem may exist.

I'm afraid there is a problem of serious motherboard and no doubt that replacing the mobo would help you to solve this problem.

  • Satellite A200 does not boot, no lights all based

I have a Satellite A200 series and yesterday it stopped automatically and will be without rebooting, wil does not start... no blue ligts... nothing.

What could be the problem and where should I look?

The laptop is 17 months old.

    > I have a Satellite A200 series and yesterday it stopped automatically and will be without rebooting, wil does not start... no blue ligts... nothing.

Do you mean that the laptop has stopped automatically?
Usually books turns off automatically due to a higher internal temperature
Maybe this is the reason why laptop computer exploded

Now, everything may be possible, it may be a RAM, the CPU, the motherboard problem
It is hard to say what role might malfunction

I think the laptop technician should check the hardware parts and then you will get a few details on the question

  • Webcam on Satellite A200 does not work with Windows Media Encoder

Material: TOSHIBA Satellite A200 (1GH) with built-in Chicony webcam.

    PROBLEM:
When I use the software Chicony webcam - it works allright (video recorded normally).
BUT: when I have Chicony software from Windows Media Encoder (preinstalled with Vista) - when I try to select the webcam as input device - and closing the error reported is "the device is not ready".

This error also repeated if I select for driver webcam Microsoft instead of native driver Chicony webcam.

    Hello

Download the latest driver Chicony and the software for the Toshiba page and install it.
Don t forget to remove the old version.

In addition, if you get the error message like webcam is used by another application or "device is not ready you must start the msconfig and should turn off and turn on webcam chicony and process service.»

  • My Satellite A200 does not start

    Hello

my name is Phil, my Toshoba Satellitw A200 will not start. I just get a black screen, I tried starting with a/c unit only, with & without a/c power. I tried several times without success.
I am running Vista Home Premium & have all the obvious anti-virus/malware proection.
Can someone please help. I was told that the hard drive may need re-allocation of places, how do you do that?

    Thank you.
    Kind regards.

    Stand by.
If I understand you right, you can start your laptop but the screen remains black. Can you confirm this?

Or simply nothing happens. What happen exactly when you press the power button / stop?

  • Satellite M50 does not start, go back to the screen with different start modes

My Satellite M50-130 does not start correctly. When you turn it on, it goes to a black DOS screen, saying: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. "It offers me different start modes: Safe Mode, with networking and command prompt. Last good Configuration known; and start Windows normally.

I tried all the 5 options, gets the commissioning insofar as the Toshiba screen, but then with all the options, it returns to the initial screen offering the 5 modes of starting. Same thing happens when laptop works again.

The only recent software change, I've done was an update to Norton AntiVirus/Internet Security and I suspect that Norton is at least part of my problem, see history below. I know it's the Toshiba support site, but I tried Norton so many times without success, I gave up. Plus, I'm no expert at all, so I can't be sure that it is really the source of all my sorrows. All advice welcome!

The performance of my laptop has deteriorated seriously in the last two months. She is extremely slow, and cleaning of malware and unwanted General does not help. It began right after that I renewed the license of Norton last year and upgraded to the 2007 version. The worst downturns are always connected to direct upcoming Norton upgrade programs. I disabled the live upgrade, but programs always come to the top, and I can't stop them, a popup tells me that they are protected.

Wireless internet is also very capricious, even if another computer on the same network works fine.
During the last week, I had to relax a little internet security settings (from "moderate to severe" to "low to medium") because after an other update of Norton AntiVirus, I couldn't access to interactive Web sites.
It is perhaps a coincidence because Norton AntiVirus comes with updates at least twice a week - but what else could be the problem?

My apologies for the long rant, I am grateful for all the advice!
    Thank you
    I have.

    Hello

I think the only way to make your system works correctly again is to restore with the cdrom of onboard catering. Simply manage to save your data from your hard drive (the best way would be to put your machine's HARD drive in a USB - HDD enclosure and copy important data on another computer), then wipe the system completely off you hdd.

After that, the system must run again...

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A30 does not see other devices in the wireless network

I recently bought a Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card, I installed and was able to recognize my broadband, but he does not see the other network devices. I have not provided with drivers or software for the operation of the card (I bought a decent retailer). Can you recommend me to downloads that would be this card?

I have a laptop of Satelite A30 1 GB ram 60 GB HDD.

Large files sometimes also stop transfer (crashes) when you use my USB connection. The usb controller uses the driver microsoft 5.1.2600.0 dated June 1, 2002.

    Is this a driver problem?

    Hello

If the wireless network adapter is properly installed if you have not configured you.
I put t know which devices in broadband services, you want to say but generally if you want to communicate or transfer files between laptops through the WiFi network so all the computers must be in the same domain or workgroup.

I can't give you a correct answer, but only a suggestion. I have red that sometimes a lower potency could be responsible for this show. Try turning off the safe power option in the properties of the hub USB root in Device Manager.

  • Satellite M45 - does not start after restoration on the new HARD drive

I installed a new PATA 250 GB HDD on my pc. The BIOS is configured to boot from CD/DVD. Toshiba Recovery disk started cold, start follow-up statement to load a new system on the HARD drive. He made a (quick) format on the HARD drive, spent 50 minutes, copy the files from the CD to the new HARD drive. Followed the instructions to remove the CD and reboot the pc. Did. I get the Toshiba homepage for 2-3 seconds, and then I get a white screen with a white block cursor in the upper corner of the LH of the screen. Looks like it does not find the block on the HARD disk?
The procedure of collection 3 times with the same results. Checked the BIOS to check that it is configured to boot from the HARD disk after installation.

The recovery CD is blank. Never used because I bought the PC (3.5 years). Put the new HARD drive in a USB enclosure and formatted with Windows, tried again with the same result? Put the old HDD, PC starts and works very well. Put the live CD Knoppix and boot from that, works very well. See the new HARD drive.

Thus, any suggestions are appreciated. The recovery CD Toshiba is defective? In any case to test?

    Thank you
    -J

    Hello

Sounds like a problem with the recovery disk or the new HARD disk if your computer starts up fine with the old HARD drive...

In your case before you start a lengthy discussion, you should try a Microsoft Windows disk to install Windows. If he work it seems that only the recovery disk is defective.

Otherwise, the HARD disk must be defective. Maybe a bad sector or something else

  • Automatic resizing of the pop-ups of sizing does not correctly after you convert the project RH9 RH10 until.  Any ideas?

We went just at RH10 (upgrade came with the Adobe Technical Communication Suite 4 upgrade).  We have successfully converted four projects that had come from RH9 to RH10.  I think my only problem is that all my popups that have been configured to open it in the topic as "display in the sizing Auto popup" are open as if they were under "default page" (see image map screen below):

    Popups_Not_Autosizing_RH10.gif

We run IE9 and Windows 7 ops system browser.  These pop-up windows worked well and is size so that we can click out of them and go back to the main topic before we converted the project.  ANY IDEAS?

P.S. I tried already to remove the option of automatic resizing of popup display, then by saving the topic, then change back and nothing happened.  I do not change my css or the master page that popups were assigned and that worked before the conversion.

Thank you!!  I wonder if I'll have to redo any mapping of the image to each of the popups in order to get the autosizing popups to work.  Please notify.

Post edited by: DNCopeland I discovered another employee who has already climbed to the RH10 could open the same project and see the pop-ups that open as automatically resized for her, not as a page by default the entire window because they are for me.

Sorry to barge here, but I wanted to pass along my experience with this bug.

I found this automatic resizing (or custom also) pop-ups in image maps have been works well in Rh9 and broken in Rh10 in the Topic Previewer (glasses icon) BUT NOT in the real WebHelp output.

Yes, DHCopeland, are statement that you see in the viewer section, or have tried to generate and display in actual production?

I always test if there is no improvement after installing 10.0.1 HR patch. So far, it seems that the patch does not address this bug. I'll try another machine.

  • Satellite A200-10 x and video crashes when the volume is high aid

every time I watch a video, and the volume is above a certain level (not even maxed out) the video begins to freeze and the entire system after that... If I turn down the volume of the small wheel at the front, sometimes he gets after several minutes, but some other times, it shows just the Blue error screen and restarts immediately... I almost tried everything... had more memory (2 GB), formatted and installed win 7 32, installed all the latest drivers for this version of windows...

I'm totally frustrated with this laptop... He had problems from the beginning, I mean, they have launched it with Vista Home and 1 GB of ram which was simply too small for the system working properly... So they forced just buy you mem more because you wouldn't be able to work.

If someone knows one any solution please help me

    > I have almost tried everything
Have you also tried to install original recovery image Toshiba (OS that you got with your laptop) and test it with the factory settings?
What videos you watch? A few stuff downloaded or original DVD movies?

When you look at the film and the sound is low is all OK?

I have Satellite P200 and it's the same as yours, but a bit bigger notebook with 17-inch screen. I have 2 GB of RAM inside, and it works perfectly with original Vista and now Win7 32 bit.
