Satellite A200 - screen crashes after loading Windows 7

Intro - programmer by trade, material not my thing.
I have a PSAF0A Sat A200-04Y019 with 1 GB mem. Intel Cpu T2080 1.73 GHz
Toshiba MK8037GSX ATA hard drive
Chipset Mobile Intel 945 Express display adapter family

Has been running Windows Vista ok.

I've upgraded to Windows 7 Professional the screen would freeze or have multi color lines on it. Only way out was to turn it off. Tried to do the window updates and update driver without success, it does not solve the problem. I decided to reformat the disk (partition Toshiba always leaving here) and install XP. Had problems to find the drivers and then had problems trying to load them.

Tried the option "press the button / stop and press 0 (zero)" to try to restore factory default, but it did not work. It shows the Toshiba screen and then something flashes in the lower left corner of the screen and then boots into windows
So, after careful consideration (and a few beers) I decided it was better to go forward as backward and reinstalled Windows 7. Still have the same problem, but I noticed if I boot in safe mode or safe mode command, the laptop is fine.

I went to the Toshiba page support download and the have not not all drivers for Windows 7. So I downloaded the vista drivers, but I get an error when I try to install, operationg wrong version for this configuration.

I can try fix my problem? (Besides that throw the laptop at the door and see how many times it will bounce) :)

Brian

Hey Buddy,

> Was Windows Vista ok.
Sounds like this one are a pilot or if preinstalled software problem Vista runs correctly.

In addition, I think that your laptop isn't Windows 7 supported if you can t get drivers here. You can try the Vista drivers, but if they don't work, to look for the drivers yourself. Maybe another model uses the same material but with Windows 7 supports.

In my opinion the best choice using Vista if everything is working properly there.

I would like to ask for help.

I have problem when I close the lid of my Satellite A200 1 - HV (PSAECE). Computer is going to hold and after I opened the hood, laptop seems to work but display is always black. Only way to make it useful is once again turn the unit off (by the power button) and turn it on.

Sometimes, the same problem occurs when the computer starts. After loading Windows (XP) the screen goes black and I can't do anything. Sometimes at startup of Windows but the resolution is 640 x 480 and color depth is 16 or even 4 bits!

I don't know if it's a hardware or driver problem. My graphics card is a GeForce GO 7300. I tried to find one driver other than that on the official website of Toshiba but I can't. All attempts to help will be really appreciated.

    Hello

Have you updated the BIOS to the version of Windows XP Home edition (5.20)?

I found a few with similar threads describing the same question. It seems that Windows XP Home edition does not work perfect on laptops designed Vista. Now I'm really curious about it. I install WXP SP2 on my Satellite A200-1CR and test it with Eve profiles different power.

  • Satellite A200 and Win7 - problem loading the graphics driver

Hi guys I have a problem with my Satellite A200 (PSAF6A).
I installed windows 7 just now, now half the time when I start the computer it displays a message on windows encounters a problem loading the graphics drivers and the resolution is terrible. When I restart immediately, most of the time, it loads fine - no message and a good resolution. I tried many driver reinstall but it is always the case.
Someone knows what's the problem? Is this with windows 7, or do you think the graphics card can be on the road to extinction?

Thanks for your help, a lot.

    Hello

It was ok before installing windows 7? I don't think it's a hardware problem. Have you installed the driver for the Toshiba driver page?

  • Re: Satellite A200-237 ETA-6 with Windows XP

    Hi ppl,

My name is Sibbe and I am from Holland and here again.
A few months ago, I bought the Satellite A200-237, distributed initially with Windows Vista. I really enjoyed working with Vista, but everyone knows that Vista slows down your system. Also a lot of software and games do not work on Vista so I wanted to try if my laptop also works with Windows XP.
So I installed Windows XP on my laptop, no drivers or software. After hours of searching on Google, I discovered that a lot of things that worked on my laptop with Vista don't work also on XP. For example:

-FN button does not work on XP ((quand j'ai appuyé sur le bouton dans Vista, flashcards est apparu sur le dessus de mon écran) only the green light comes on but the F1 to F12 keys does not work)

-Toshiba Power Saver ((en fait, cela ne fonctionne pas sur Vista mais c'était parce qu'il y avait beaucoup d'options dans les paramètres d'énergie de Vista) now, on XP, you need to install another program first before saving work?)

In any case, is anyway how I can do these things work under XP. And, of course, would be nice if I could use the flash cards for the FN key, but I suppose Toshiba has never done those for XP.

    Data sheet:
    Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 2.09 GHz
    2 GB of RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 256 MB
    230Gb S - ATA HDD
Windows XP SP2 (not yet fully updated)

    Thanks in advance!

If you have installed XP on the Satellite A200 series you should not t forget to update the BIOS to the XP version.
If you n t update the BIOS, then your FN buttons will not work even if the correct drivers are installed.

So be careful and do not forget that the BIOS and other XP drivers designed for you, the series are installed correctly!

  • HP Deskjet 1000 printer, model: J110a printer will not print after loading Windows 10

After loading Windows 10 would not print my printer. I deleted the printer and HP all downloads for it and turn the computer off. Start the computer up, re-load the printer driver, plugged and tried a test page. I get a message in the lower right of the screen that says "file saved in the documents folder" and no page is printed.  I tried troubleshooting, but without success.

    Hey @Bandit64,

Issue seems to be with the spooler, try the steps below and mark the port selected in the printer driver settings.

If you use USB - selected port must be USB001 or DOT4

If you use a network cable - selected port must be HP TCP/IP Standard.

    1. stop the spooler
    a. click on start, Control Panel, performance and Maintenance, administrative tools, then Services.
    b. scroll the list of services for the print spooler.
    c. right-click on print spooler and stop it.

2 remove the files of spooling.
    a. click on my computer.
    b. go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS\.
    c. remove all files in this folder.

NOTE: If the spooler does not work properly, this folder must be empty when the machine is not printing. Normally, it removes these files in this folder after that they were sent to the printer. Delete blocked files can free the spooler and allow it to continue normal operation.

    3. restart the spooler.

    a. click on start, Control Panel, performance and Maintenance, administrative tools, then Services.
    b. scroll the list of services for the print spooler.
    c. right click on print and start spooler.

  • After loading Windows - crashes BSOD on Portege A200

    Portege A200 Windows XP;

Before windows has finished loading a blue screen appears and the machine stops. Prior to that, the machine was intermittenlty off without apparent reason. The last thing I did before this happened has been updated to IE 7. Ran scandisk, but has not fixed anything.

Can start in safe mode but impossible to uninstall IE7 in safe mode. The option selected to load windows last config that worked to option, but windows crashes before the end of loading. Restoration of the system to consider the return to January 08 but still the same problem.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

In this case, I would recommend do you a clean installation of OS. As you can see that nothing done. I don't really know what you can try, but I really don't think that you will be able to do anything.

Save all your data important and make the clean OS installation. I know it's quite radical solution but, believe me, one that suits.

  • Satellite A200 restarts continuously after Windows update

    Hey all,.

The model Satellite A200 - 1 GB (PSAE6E) worked perfectly for two years now (with Vista 32-bit).
Since running windows update yesterday and restart, the laptop summer stuck in a reboot loop, restart immediately after the 'POST' (the Toshiba logo, etc) screen with a flash of blue screen.
Holding F8 to read the message, it says INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE (0x000007B)...
Try to restore to a point before the blackout failed for an unknown reason (gave an error).
Search in Google gave a possible cause - maybe the hard disk driver was changed by an incompatible type. There were some suggestions to turn off the AHCI in the bios, but it doesn't have this option.
The bios was not updated since purchase (this is version 1.4), but I can't update because it seems that the only update provided by Toshiba requires windows.

Someone has any idea how to fix the computer without having to reinstall windows? No matter what?

    Thanks in advance,
    Ofir

    Hello

I doubt that it could be a hardware error (my personal opinion) but nothing is impossible, that you know
The fact is that a BSOD can be caused by hardware error, but also a serious software problem
In my opinion, something went wrong during the update

If you are not able to boot the operating system even by using a safe mode then a new install of the OS would be the last chance to get this sort problem

I think you should try a new installation to see if this could be a hardware problem because there is a small remnant of risk that this could be a hardware problem

Where can I get some old drivers for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600, that I can install without starting windows?

    > Where can I get some old drivers for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600, I can install without starting windows?

Please don t get me wrong, but I think you're on the wrong track.
(Graphics card, LAN, etc.) device drivers must be installed in the currently running system (i.e: Windows OS, etc.)

I m sure; pilot isn t the problem if nothing is visible on the screen.

First of all, I would recommend you to connect the laptop to an external monitor/screen just to see if something would be visible on the screen 2.

But just a question: have you tried to start Notepad using a boot disk (windows installation disc, the disc recovery Toshiba or similar?).
Maybe the Windows system is confusing upward and therefore, you are not able to start the system? In my opinion, you should test this option.

  • Satellite A200 (PSAE0C-AH308C) - after the BIOS black screen update

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite (model No. A200; Part No. PSAE0C - AH308C) and to install Windows XP on a version already corrupted Vista (which had 4 partitions, that have been corrected, erased, then reformatted in a solid block). Now, I have installed all the appropriate drivers off Toshiba Canada support site...

Everything worked, but I wanted to see in Windows (since I just got this computer) if everything was in place and working normally until I installed Ubuntu... Then I did the update to the BIOS flash. The program is supported in two formats, one for Vista and one for XP... for XP has a more high at 5.20 and Vista BIOS version the 1.80 revision of BIOS... that are marked as being updated by the Toshiba site. I opted to download the latest version of the BIOS.

Things got ugly as soon as I unzipped the self-extracting program. First of all he said he could not find a .dll file (even if it is clear from there), so that seemed as if it started to Flash the BIOS but has not finished (it was just what happened when I opened the program)... I think he got to the ROM of compensation but did not have any code in there... Windows attempted to close the program because he did not respond, and I tried to take the program... had the same .dll error, but this time, the screen of the program was just gray...

Given that this program is not Flash the BIOS unless the user selects the button "Flash BIOS", I have reason to believe that it was a bug in the program, or a combination of it and Windows comes to interfere (no program were running at the time, while he was supposed to be a dedicated flash). I can only flash in the Win.

Now, I rebooted the computer, twice... the screen turns black, the HARD disc spins, the DVD drive has done his usual clicking sound when the computer starts, but it seems to stop as there is no BIOS entact.

Can I replace the BIOS chip? There is no way for me to access the BIOS at all.

Thanks for any help on this

    Hello

Unfortunately, the BIOS update has failed and now BIOS is damaged. For this reason, you cannot start and use your laptop. I agree with Luke. Please contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and ask for help. Talk with them and I am sure that you will find the best solution to this problem.

Satellite A200 is quite long on the market and it is hard to believe that updating the BIOS on the Canadian page may have a bug. All updates are tested and used by millions of users and service providers. If there is something wrong, I do not believe that this update will be available on the page of public support.

In any case, contact the nearest service provider and explain the situation. Believe me this is the best thing you can do now.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite L675D: Linux Suse 11.3 crashes after loading the kernel

Phew! thought I would find my salvation here until I read the Linux of countless questions, but anyway.

Mint 10, suse 11.3 and studio 64 live CD everything freeze after loading the kernel.
    A black screen is empty.

Yes, I have Ubuntu 10.04 in a dual boot work, but this isn't my distro of choice.
Yes, I tried the live CD on another PC and they work.

So please a Toshiba guru please tell me what this model does not have to do it entirely for edge for Linux. Or am I dreaming?

Do not know what will happen with other models. I discovered with my L675D I could get through the gel by typing in acpi = off

  • Portege M300 crashes after that 'Windows stops' appears on the screen

The computer hangs after that 'Windows stops' appears on the display. The same phenomenon occurs in hibernation mode. I have to turn off the computer by holding down the power button.

I updated my bios, installed all the updates of windows that are available and made a number of other things. It starts just out of the blue. Any ideas?

    Hello

It happens after installing the OS from the Toshiba Recovery CD?
You have installed any additional program?

I noticed a similar freeze on my laptop. For the most part, it happened because the background process has not closed, and so the laptop could not force the closure downwards. In my case it was an adobe acrobat reader software that could not close.

I think you should you HDD defragment and use the freeware CCleaner application.
This program cleans the program errors and corrects registry entries.

Try it! Maybe it s not a serious problem!

  • New Satellite A200 is restarted after installing XP

    Hi all

I hope someone can help with this problem.
I have a new Satellite A200 and made in the wake of the SP2 and matrix storage drivers.
I completely deleted all partitions on the disk and installed XP (slipstreamed version).
All going well until the first reboot and then it restarts just over and over again.
If I have safe mode of choice it loads correctly and I can't install drivers etc.
I wonder if it is a BIOS issue?
I tried to update using windows bios update for XP and it will not allow in safe mode.
The reboot happens before even starting XP screen appears, hard drive blinks twice, then it power cycles.
I hope that I'm not the first to encounter this problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

Mhhh very strange to me, it looks like a software problem!
In Windows XP, the default setting is for the computer to automatically reboot when a fatal error occurs. If this fatal error only occurs when you stop, the system reboots automatically.

Have you noticed the same course the Vista OS?

What you could do is to install the Vista from the recovery CD again, and then update the BIOS to the XP version.
After this procedure install the XP with all the service packs and the compatible Intel matrix Storage Manager

    Good luck

  • Satellite A200 - screen turns off without reason

I have a Satellite A200-E530D on Windows Vista Home Premium. For a month, I had something strange happening on my computer, shortly after the start, the screen turns off. without good reason! the only option I have is hard to system boot and everythings... Although a few times after the restart he still went.

I tried to upgrade to the last poster of drivers (I have an Nvidia Geforce Graphics card 7300 Go with 128 MB of VRAM)

Another weird thing, Vista SP1 does not install on my machine. tried to uninstall my Anti virus, but that did not help either one.

Can anyone shed light on my dark screen?

    Hello!

You have the same problem on an external monitor?
I m not sure if it s a display problem, mother or software card

Do you have what display driver installed? You have downloaded the driver from the Web from Toshiba site?

  • Satellite L675-11R - crashes when loading the BIOS

    Hello

My daughter L675 crashes when loading the BIOS.

Yesterday the system firstly could not start with a "Boot failed" error, as the HARD drive is not found.

I restarted and is gone in BIOS - the HARD disk was recorded and shown as a first Source of seed. After reboot, the system has failed again with the same error.

After several attempts, even if it does not. now that appears in a black screen, blinking cursor top left. Hot start works, but another key not seem to provoke a reaction. I can't start the BIOS Setup.

I removed the HARD drive and connected it to my PC. It was recoginized and I am able to write to it. A W7 disk verification completed successfully and some problems have been "fixed". But when I reinstall the drive of the laptop, it still does not start.

I double checked that the drive & Modules of memory are well inserted.

    Any ideas I can try?

    Thank you

    John

Well, the cursor blinking in the upper left corner is a typical sign of a malfunction of the HARD drive.
I think you need to format the HARD drive using other computers. Delete all partitions and insert the HARD drive into the L675 again.
Then try to install the Windows system on this device.

In addition, you can try to check this HARD disk using a 3rd party software.
Drive Fitness Test is a free tool that can help you test the ability of the HARD drive.
If some errors would be detected, then a replacement HARD drive would be desirable.
