Satellite A210 crashes

I have a similar problem with my A210 I bought in March 08. It will crash and eventually not even not start. I had to take it to a dealer, and it turned out that I had a bad copy of Vista.

The tech did a system restore and used the copy of Vista society; However, it was considered an unauthorized version. I had to buy system restore disks, because I could not make a backup (due to Vista not allowed) and do a second restore of the system. Naturally, I lost all data and programs, both of which I did not support (I know, stupid).

Now, every once in a while (sometimes 3 - 4 times a day), the computer hangs / freeze - no HD light. I have to stop and start again.

I'm frustrated and angry? You can have a guess!

I got nowhere with Toshiba as much a solution that works is concerned.

Someone at - it ideas? I'm not familiar with the 'work' of a computer, just the way of it. So, if you have any technical ideas, please say it in a way that I can understand. Throw in the trash is a solution that I have considered, but cannot afford a new computer.

Have you contacted the Toshiba authorized service provider?
I doubt that this is because FSA technicians are trained and quailed.
A bad copy of vista is simply absurd.

Each Toshiba laptop is preinstalled with Toshiba picture and your laptop could not be preinstalled with "bad copy of Vista.

Generally, your laptop was equipped with drive recovery HARD or the Toshiba Recovery DVD has been bundled with the laptop.
If the laptop is not working properly after the recovery procedure then a hardware malfunction and the laptop must be verified by an ASP (ASP real!)

The warranty covers the laptop for two years (one year additional warranty after registering on the site of Toshiba laptop).
So if something would be a mistake, the warranty covers everything and everything should be done for free!

To be honest, your message is really mysterious.
I would recommend contacting a Toshiba ASP and for requesting a detailed check laptop!

    I can play games like Americas Army, stalker or gothic 3, but they break after awhile. Although I put the graphic details low my laptop heats up and the system stops and restarts.     Please check if there is a temperature higher during the games.
    I got a BSOD while gaming by using the A210 in bed.
    The fans couldn't t work properly because the vents were clogged!

    Now, I use this laptop ONLY on the table and I have enough free space around the laptop.
    Furthermore, I cleaned the fans using a jet of compressed air.

    Now I put t receive any BSOD error and games is ok.

  • Satellite A210 - 1 4 crashes when the disconnection of the power supply

    Since installing Windows 7 on my laptop satellite A210 - 1 4, that I noticed that when I disconnect to change plug to the battery the computer freezes and must be hard reset.

    This never happened with Vista, so I think it's something to do with Windows 7.

    It is not a major problem, just a minor niggle I like sometimes to try to use the battery upward so that it works well.

    Is this a known problem or is there some drivers that maybe I need to install?

    Have you installed all the drivers for your laptop after installing Windows 7 and you have yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager?

    Are you using the original Toshiba AC/DC adapter and battery or some parts of 3rd party?

    You can also try to update the BIOS. This can be downloaded on the official page of Toshiba.

    My Satellite A210 PSAFJE 003003KS has been a royal pain in the behind lately.
    It seems almost every moment of the accident while watching videos streamed over the internet, using internet explore and firefox.
    And I also have trouble getting the computer resets as well.

    Most of the time, when I press the reset button of the will to power laptop down, but never powered takes again properly and often several attempts now hold the stop button and reset manually to get it to power.

    Common fault? You can't be serious.
    I have the 10Y A210. It s preinstalled with Vista and XP. I watch movies (DVD and internet streaming) also I play videos of youtube, and to be honest I didn t notice any similar behavior cell phone like yours.

    I think that the technician is right; It seems that your OS is confused who knows why?  :| In most cases, the file system and the registry might be corrupted.
    Therefore, in my opinion, you should try to reinstall the OS using the Toshiba Recovery DVD to check if the laptop would go without problem after reinstalling the operating system.

    In most cases, it's a good solution!

    I m afraid. I have bad news for you.
    The laptop needs a help of ASP.
    The module ROM BIOS has to be flashed again and this can be done by ASP in your country. The technician would use a disc of crisis of BIOS that allows to get the laptop back to life.

    This morning at the College, I started my laptop (satellite A210)
    After entering the password started... after 5 seconds, I got a blue screen SHORT (3 seconds)... This can happen 5 times...

    What should do?
    Take the recovery CD in the CD/DVD drive and try to restore the operating system from the Toshiba Recovery CD.

    There is a nice tool called Drive Fitness Test which can be downloaded from some 3rd party pages.
    The tool is free and helps you run HARD drive Diagnostics tests.
    If the HARD drive is ok, then the next step should be checking the RAM.

    Tools such as memtest86 + could be used to test the memory.

    But even if there is no error, the RAM could be affected again I recommend that you test the new notebook with Rams

    By the way: check if the BIOS is up to date!

    Well, I checked Toshiba European page and there is not a lot of drivers XP for Equium A210.
    But don t you worry man. I think that you are not lost ;)

    As far as I know, that this device supports ATI Radeon X 1200 graphics card.

    Some units of the Satellite A210 series were equipped with the same graphic card.
    So please check the Satellite A210 series (there are different so go through A210 all singles series) and try some graphics drivers ATI posted on the European driver Toshiba page.

    These drivers must run.

    You also have the problem on an external monitor?

    I think the problem is a faulty graphics card or a problem with the driver. If you have not reinstalled Windows, try this.

    I have laptop Toshiba Satellite A210-16F and it won't turn off sometimes.
    Happens to the window "Stop", but it wont close and stays like that until what I stopped it manually by holding the POWER button.

    I'm afraid that no one here will be able to say with certainty why this happen. It may be because of the graphics card or the screen is perhaps responsible for that. What you can do is to test it with the external monitor. If the problem is the same on external monitor this certainly because of the faulty graphics card.

    The nearest authorized service provider is the person just for these issues.

    to make a BIOS setting to day and once I installed upgrading BIOS, that the laptop did not return ever on, black screen.

    Update the BIOS is a very serious procedure, and the use of fake and not compatible BIOS would damage the motherboard.

    To be honest, I don t think that the replacement of the EPROM would help you that of course, the BIOS is stored on EPROM module but in most cases this chip is soldered to the motherboard and the EPROM replacement will not be easy

    To my knowledge the EPROM module could be flashed once more using the crisis disk BIOS and the special procedure. Usually, these updates of the crisis of the BIOS can be done by maintainer authorized Toshiba and that don t require the replacement of the EPROM module.

    I also read in this forum that some guy tried to Flash the EPROM module to clean hands in some cases, it worked, but in different cases such update does not work correctly
