Satellite A210 start problem

Hello

This afternoon, I turned on my laptop and it was in perfect condition. I went to the Microsoft Update Web site, downloaded and installed the latest security patches and rebooted the computer.

But it does not start! It shows the Toshiba logo but then a blank screen and that's it.

I thought that he would have something to do with the HD, but I can't even the configuration of the BIOS. If I press F2 or F12 nothing happens.

It is very strange that the laptop is not yet a year old, are not widely used and always handled with great care.

Any ideas? Before using the guarantee? I really need the laptop...

Thank you

Have you tried booting in safe mode? You can access this by pressing F8 at startup, this will give you access to your Advanced Boot Options. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to select Safe mode and press ENTER. If you can load safe mode, use the Restore Wizard to restore to a previous restore point.

  • Display on Satellite A210-1AO problem

I have a Satellite A210-1AO running Windows Vista.
Since a couple of months, or a recurring questions arose: at random times the laptop gets lines across the entire screen. The lines aren't straight, they're more like following the shape of the image (so * they change according to the image of the screen *) and are in color (I think mostly green, but not sure). I often turn off the pc then and the next time I turn it on is fine. Once, however, during the closure, the screen went white but the pointer/cursor was always visible.

The incidents are more frequent. Once, I tried to unplug the charger when it happened and lines began to blink and be even more worrying, so I plugged the charger while I turned off the laptop.

You have any ideas what might trigger such behavior?

On the virtual path that is not easy to offer accurate diagnosis but I think the graphics card is the troublemaker and I m afraid that it will be even worse in the future.
Graphics card is part of the motherboard, so a kind easy fix or replacement is not possible.

  • Satellite L - starting problem

I used my new Toshiba laptop about 6 months ago - no prpblems. These last days I have starting problems. I turn it on and Toshiba logo appears on the screen, and Windows does not start. Toshiba Logo remains on as frozen screen and laptop keyboard does not respond. I turn it back on works and that's okay - wimdows starts normally. Startup Repair does not detect any problems.

    What can be?

    Hi oktay,.

What model of laptop you have exactly? I can t find this information in your ad.

If the laptop hangs on the Toshiba logo, it has nothing to do with Windows and it s hardware related issue.
Have you connected external devices? If Yes, remove them all and try to boot up your laptop.

  • Satellite A210 display problems

    Hi all

I like my Toshiba A210-10Y, but there seems to be some problems with it.

Portable computer does not always start immediately; Sometimes, I have to press the 'close' button because the Black Guard screen and the blue satellite does not burn (but you can hear it make a sound and light Burns 'on').
    * Close the screen for a while, is a no-go for my laptop. I already changed the "loading windows after closing" settings (sorry, my laptop is Dutch so I don't know what said that.. English for the Dutch people here 'windows hervatten'.) But even that does not always work so I have to press the close button and restart my laptop (how boring when you're in school). What I really want is to close the screen and open it again and go right, back to work... like everyone :(
Blue screen has become a common friend. Sometimes when you're at work... type a little bit, you know. The computer is fr blue screen reboots without reason! It goes right down!
    * I often blocks on the screen... not dead pixels, but the Brown block on the top of the screen... sometimes they disappear, sometimes not.
    * Lately, I have to restart my computer over and over again, because after he loaded it sometimes stuck... "crash" again (not blue screen of death, but a white layer)

I still have the original warranty and I bought an extended warranty. I can fix it on myself with some drivers or re-install windows (vista) or do I give the nice people of the store I bought a call?

    Thank you.

Hmm it of really difficult to say what's wrong with your laptop.
Sounds a bit like your screen to wake up from stand-by or hibernation mode.

But on the other hand is more sounds like a graphics card problem.
    I mean especially this statement:
    > Blue screen has become a common friend. Sometimes when you're at work... Type a little bit, you know. The computer is fr blue screen reboots without reason! It goes right down! I often blocks on the screen not dead pixels, but the Brown block on the top of the screen... Sometimes they disappear, sometimes not.

It sounds really not good if you ve hangs on the screen!

In your case, it would be really desirable to contact the ASP in your country.
The fact is that your laptop warranty is valid, and if something would be wrong with parts, it should be fixed for free
I think that the ASP is not a bad idea.

    Good bye

  • Satellite M30X starting problems

    Hello!

My Satellite M30X doesn't start normally more. When I press the power button, it turns on, the fan starts, but nothing happens. Or sometimes it takes almost 5 minutes before then the Toshiba logo appears, it begins in place.

After that, I sometimes get a message that the Smart HD feature has detected a failure in my HD. But not all the time.

I have Linux and Win XP on my hard drive. When I use Win XP, it starts normally, then after a few minutes, I get the BOD with message IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Or sometimes, the system just hangs. If I boot mode safe, everyting works fine.

On Linux, the system freezes after 30 minutes of use.

I'm tempted to think that I just need to reformat my HD (I have a 100gig HD of Fujitsu), and everything will be fine. I have to try again. And also once again, on Win XP Safe Mode, everything works very well - I can't even use WLAN, and I am writing this same post! But if it's just a software or an OS problem, why not not my laptop start normally? I mean, why is that sometimes it does not start at all (the Toshiba logo does not appear), and I have to turn off my phone and turn it back on so that it works. Sometimes it is not boot at all, no matter how many times I try it turn on and off. The power on light comes on, fan will start, then fan turns off, light is always turned on and nothing happens. Or it could be caused by a faulty hard drive? Is that why it sometimes does not start at all? But if it is the HD, why is there not a problem in Mode safe?

It is so weird coz it wasn't a problem before, and he appeared out of the blue.

Any help will be appreciated! Thank you in advance!

    Hello

To me, this looks like a hardware problem. I think it works in safe mode because other such graphics card device drivers are not loaded.
As I know the IRQL error also occurs if the blue screen of death appears on the screen. I think that it us something wrong with the graphics card or the memory modules.
I think you should ask the AEP from Toshiba for help.

  • Satellite U500 start problem - "your computer could not be started."

I bought a Toshiba U500 Satellite 2 months ago and whenever I turn it on the message 'your computer failed to start' and startup repair must check my system for problems.

After that it checks my system (which takes a lot of time) it says that it cannot solve the problem and I can choose "Finish" and the computer shuts down. When I start the computer again I have the option "Start windows normally" and when I choose what it starts. The whole process is very long, that take a long time to start the computer (I have Vista).

I was not able to understand what the problem is and I would really appreciate any help as much as the laptop is brand new. Thank you!

In my opinion, you should backup all important data and install again. your laptop's HARD drive image and after 25 minutes only you will own operating system preinstalled and everything will be OK again.

What is an option for you?

  • Satellite A200 - STARTING problems, freezes on the connection of the power adapter

My 3 YO A200 (PSAF3A-08202D has developed a problem with starting.
I can start on battery power with WINDOWS VISTA BUSINESS (after 10 attempts, but freezes immediately when the power adapter is plugged in.)
Display sometimes boots wide-screen, but mostly freezes before windows welcome.

When running, the battery produces about 1 to 2 hours before a complete evacuation.
When executing a battery, computer freezes when I plug Charger AC/DC immediately and going with my A100 charger as an alternative.

Initial problem was a faulty hard drive and super hot air flow due to fluff the cooling block fan.
Tech replaced original 120G HDD with 500 G and reloaded at the factory. works well for 3 months, then started with the same problems so conclude original disk HARD was just a secondary issue.

So maybe fixed I overheated components on the motherboard. Reset of data cards initially fixed a problem starting but is gradually degraded.

Reading through the forums seems that there is a huge amount of these laptops with similar issues. Is this a design flaw, like my other Satellite A100 is solid as a rock. All forums, which suggests resetting the cpu is running slow or be disconnected seem to be temporary repairs. Boot in safe mode and reset the default settings have no effect.

A suggestion that a capacitor is at fault seems to be the fix is valid but which involves specialized tools is not available locally. Local agent of Harvey Norman for Toshiba are best part of unnecessary because they can send in Australia from Toshiba. Machine has been close to $2000 and is now worth Zip.

I am unable to do anything with this machine, as all the ways of upgrading or resetting calls for AC power available and running.

I'm about to do radical things and hope that this forum can enlighten us.

    Hi Mickaël

You might be right. It seems that the motherboard is affected.
Don't know why but higher temperature can still affect the internal parts.
The temperature may increase if cooling fans n t working correctly. For example dust or debris leads to a higher temperature because cooling air cannot circulate properly.

I have to clean my laptop's cooling grilles from time to time using a jet of compressed air. This allows to keep the temperature at the lower level.
Of course the internal temperature is not always a reason for portable computers hardware malfunction equipment can begin to malfunction as always in an other products too: TVs, cars, game consoles

I bought an extended warranty for my laptop, also for my LCD TV mercy always if a high-end product begin to malfunction and in the case of a warranty claim, the fault can be fixed free of charge.

    Any help is very appreciated

    > When I turn on laptop it crashes on the Toshiba start screen
    > I press F2 it says loading but freezes and turns off

This means that the laptop can not pass the MESSAGE correctly.
POST is the power on self test and if the laptop crashes it then something is wrong with the motherboard or the part on the motherboard.
Have you checked the RAM modules?

Remove the module and try to start using a single module.
Pass the other module, then check this too

  • Satellite M30 starting problems

    Hi people,

I had a Sat M30 which sems adopt a life of its own.
When I start the laptop, sometimes with the beginning of screen chkdsk and then boots, sometimes it boots itself but continually beeps and does not start correctly.

Sometimes, when it does not start and I opened Opera or IE, it seems that a key is stuck and it does what it wants, flickering tell btwn the homepage and help pages. Other times I get many error messages.

The only things down recently was a reformat and an increase of RAM with 512M of RAM increased.

I have to say sometimes it starts up fine and works fine still...

I think about reformatting the drive again, is this a good idea or I will just cause more problems?

    Thank you

    > The only things down recently was a reformat and an increase of RAM with 512M of RAM increased.
Hmm maybe the new additional RAM module causes this strange issue.
It of not impossible that a faulty RAM would affect the behavior of the laptop.

Try to remove the new RAM and check if the same strange behavior would be displayed using your old RAM module.

If the laptop would go well, then the question is certainly related to the new RAM module.

    Hello

When I turn on the computer, it shows that the word Toshiba etc then the screen becomes black.
Sometimes if I turn it will work ok. During the projection of Toshiba, only keys f2 and f12 options work.

It is at the stage where he won t do anything after the start of Toshiba, no matter how many times I turn on and off.

    Any help appreciated.

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is, but try it please use F8 at startup to check if you can enter advanced startup options. If so try to boot the operating system in safe mode.

    Please test and send feedback.

  • Satellite A210 - 16G - problem of CPU frequency and memory

    Hey guys,.

    I had a problem with my laptop I can't solve, since I installed windows 7 RTM x 64 version.
I noticed something is wrong after finding that my Windows experience index has fallen to 2.7 instead of 4.5, I used to have on Vista. For those who do not know my characteristics are:
AMD Turion 64 X 2 TL-60, which I've got 2.7 of note, 4 GB Kingston DDR2-667 (333 MHz) - 4.4, scores of charts and hard drives are the same.

I read in one of the forums that it may be a problem with the standby power options, but he did not get any option that says on the frequency of the processor changing according to the plan of the power. I also installed new version 2.0 of the website of Toshiba BIOS, but it only makes things worse: I've got 6.0 rating graphics of games but the Perf of Aero desktop is now 1.0!

I installed diagnostic software: Everest and CPU - Z and I discovered that my CPU works with a frequency of 800 Mhz (the multiplier is 4 x, voltage 0.8V) and my DRAM frequency is 159.8 Mhz (I don't know if it's ok, but I know that 4.4 score is certainly too low although).

So tell me guys, is this a problem of the operating system? Should I try to install the 32-bit version of Windows 7, or it won't change anything? Maybe I should try some software that would change the frequency of my FSB?
I'm waiting for your answers, because I don't know what to do.

    Paul

Aero needs a WDDM compatible graphics driver, then try to update the graphics driver on the Toshiba site

  • Satellite A210 - 11K - serious starting problems

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A210 - 11K which has recently developed serious problems with start up. It makes a very loud beeps when I turn on the laptop.

Sometimes, the automatic recovery feature manages to recover the boot process and I can use the laptop as usual. But, at other times, I get a message indicating that automatic recovery could not repair the beginning upward and then I have to turn off the power for a day or two and try again.

The laptop also sometimes stops working after about half hour usage.
    Please can someone help?

    Hello

To be honest, the issue described doesn't sound like a software / system related problem, but nevertheless I think that you should try the s for laptop system recovery using the Toshiba recovery disc (of course if it is available).

In case you n t have this recovery media, I recommend you try the system reset using Microsoft own disc. essential drivers are available on the Toshiba driver page.

If the system recovery would not work, a hardware problem (HARD drive?) may be the reason why the laptop can not boot the system properly. But it is just a presumption

However, I think that's a good point to begin troubleshooting

    Hello

What devices are connected to the machine? Some external HDD´s or DVD readers? Would be interesting to know because this error is caused mainly by external media/devices that are not properly connected to the laptop or a malfunction.

I recommend to unplug everything from your machine and check if the error reappears. So I would suggest to backup all of your important data and retrieve the machine completely (maybe it s a related problem of the software).

If that's not enough then come back and talk to us more this question.
