Satellite A25-s3072 and LG GWA - 4082N DVD - IDE #1 error

Hello
I just bought DVD GWA-4082N firmware CS01. It will not work
with my laptop, Toshiba Satellite A25 (Win XP SP2, latest available
BIOS v1.4). After having turned it on, 'IDE #1 error' is displayed and windows
boots without DVD. And it does not appear in Device Manager.
I find a way to make it appear in windows by changing in BIOS
'Configuration' of the 'Appliances' section for 'The installer of the OS', but it
the error still appears. Quite possibly (haven't tried yet, but people say)
This) laptop does not start a CD in this case. Also, the laptop does not work
See DVD if I don't open/close the status bar during loading of Windows! He
blinking light on the BIOS to load stage, but disappear whn Windows begins to load...
DVD is set to Master by connecting 2 pins (45 & 47), as it was recommended
in some forums, but it does not solve the problem.
In addition, put a paper to isolate the pins 45-47 to make it slave does not help either
(DVD is not displayed in Device Manager).
Is there a software (csel-changer) to change the master/slave mode available?

I also try to he reflash with the HV02 page TDB firmware (I understand
it comes specifically for laptops Toshiba, native of DVD
with firmware CS01). Here again, "IDE #1 error.
It is - are there any suggestions, how do works at the BIOS level
with my laptop? I need CD boot and hate IDE #1 error.
Is there any firmware specifically for the towers of Toshiba, for this DVD, that allow the BIOS to recognize?
Please, if you have GWA - 4082N DVD works with your laptop, let me know what is a version of the firmware?
DVDinfo and Nero InfoTool can help this knowledge.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions...

Hello

As far as I know IDE #1 error occurs if you try to use the incompatible appliance. No doubt is there problem with assignment of pins and thus the device is not recognized by the system.

As you described, it can be solved by connecting some ankles but if this help of don t I t see any help out there. The BIOS update will not solve the problem. Maybe you should contact Toshiba and ask them if they have a any magic solution.

  • Satellite A25-S3072: black Pixels appear as green pixels

My laptop A25-S3072 green pixels where black pixels should be, so, in other words, when the Windows XP splash screen appears during startup, the screen is completely green with the exception of the logo of course.

Each black pixel 'true' is green and that's the problem when Windows runs too. I see that they are not dead pixels because all pixels do it when a black pixel should be there. I had a friend who is a certified Toshiba technician to take a look and he said that it seems that the coffee was spilled on it, but the LCD is fine, there seems to be something with the embedded video.

I'm fine with the manufacture and repair of desktop computers, but not laptops, if I could if I had to. Can anyone suggest anything in addition to becoming a new laptop or a new motherboard. The MB sounds better than a whole new laptop.

Another thing, I have to add is that when I bought it on eBay, it was sold because of the little green pixels, but it was reported as appearing here and there, when I actually got the laptop the problem disappeared completely. Then I sent it to UPS because I filed a claim because they damaged the power supply and also the CD and when he sent it back pixels then came green and much worse.

Nothing helped, torsion of the LCD screen, it hit a little, at all, nothing will do it. So its strange because after I bought through eBay, UPS delivered and the so-called problem was non-existent, so I sent it to UPS, then it it shipped back and the problem was there.

    Can anyone help please?

Is not easy to say how much the repairs would cost. This depends mainly on the corrupt parties. If an FL inverter failures then the repairs should t be expensive

  • Satellite 2450-201: update driver DVD - IDE #1 error

    Hello

I need help to upgrade the dvd for my laptop model Satellite 2450-201 with internal dvd writer.

I have LG and I got this message at startup: error IDE #1. Any suspicion that I speak with Dep. error tech and he said that the problem of compatible driver. I think that good performance with the system.

If I update the bios from 1.3 to 1.5 it will solve this problem?
Or do I need another brand name model to replace the old DVD with DVD - RW?

    Hello

As someone from the tech, adj. suggested that this error message appears because the car is not compatible.
The disc has a bad master/slave setting and so the BIOS can not recognize the drive.
To resolve this problem, you must upgrade the laptop with compatible player.

    I found a compatible Toshiba PA3255U-1DV1 DVD-RAM drive. But this isn't a burner.
I suggest to contact Toshiba service partner in your country to control the compatible player and supported. So you can be sure that you will get a good player.

On the other side, you could use and install the operating system from the original CD of Microsoft Windows, and then you can download and install the driver from Toshiba.

  • Satellite X 200 and replace the HD-DVD player

    G ' Day

I'm looking to replace the HD-DVD drive in my Toshiba X 200 (PSPBUA-00N007) with a Blu - Ray player (or burner). They are on the market yet and available at Toshiba (or, say, eBay)? What should I look for?

The HD-DVD player is a cool historical anachronism, but Blu - Ray will probably be a little more useful for me in the future.

    Cheers for the help.

    Hello

As far as I know, there are some Blueray drives on the market that can be used in the notebook. But the fact is that not all readers are compatible because different master/slave/c-salt settings.

I didn t find information on compatible BR readers. I guess you will have to test it yourself.

  • Satellite A25-S279: how to reinstall XP with Ghost DVD without disc internal

I have tosbhia satellite a25-s279 and toshiba dvd of ghost.
My internal dvd drive is broken (w / some difficult, it can play some audio cd of some of the time. it recognizes no cd-rom or dvd). I also have external pioneer dvd writer dvr-s606 (connect to the satellite via USB). I want to reinstall xp.

The Bios is 1.10, the chipset is ALi M1672 rev 0. You have the option to boot from HDD, floppy, CD-ROM, and LAN drive.
I think that you also have the option of bootin off pc card, but is not in the Bios.

It seems (from reading these forums) that my satellite does not support boot from the external drive, so I can't use the ghost disc?

I found another Web site, which suggests to make bootable USB drive and load xp from the memory stick.
However, read these forums, it seems, also, that's not possible with my satellite?

I suppose I can buy a replacement internal dvd drive, but these seem very unreliable, and I already have functioning external drive.

any other advice would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    > It seems (from reading these forums) that my satellite does not support boot from the external drive, so I can't use the ghost disc?
That is right. The external USB CD/DVD drive is not bootable, and you will not be able to boot from the CD

    > I found another website, suggesting to make bootable USB drive and load Xp from the memory stick
No, it is not possible to boot from the USB key. BIOS does not support this start option

I think the only way is to buy a hard drive taken in internal load and then boot from the CD.
You can also try to boot from the local network, but it's not easy and you will need a RIS server.
I think that this is not really a solution.

  • Satellite L350-171 - where to get the DVD to upgrade Toshiba (Vista to W7)

    Hello world

I have a Satellite L350-171 and got a W7 DVD update "awhile." I get only round to install now and the first thing I see in the instructions, it's that I should have a upgrade DVD Toshiba, which I did :-(

Anyone know where I can get one, or if I need any? If not then can I just upgrade and hope that all drivers updated automatically? Sounds a bit risky

I hope this is the right place to ask.
If it isn't then point me in the right direction and I'll ask here rather :-)

Thanks in advance for any help

    Damian

A few years ago, Toshiba offered this upgrade program.
It's over and you can't upgrade drive more.

What you can do is be upgraded using the original disc of Microsoft, but I think you should do clean install Win7. Your model of laptop is supported for Win7 and all necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can download at Toshiba support page http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Before starting with the upgrade Win7 create original Vista recovery DVDs.
If you need assistance with installing Win7 or if you have other questions, you are welcome.

  • Satellite A25-S207: how to force the PXE boot?

    Hello

    I have a Satellite A25-S207 and a big problem!

I want to start my laptop using PXE to install Suse Linux. I already did 3 months ago. It worked perfectly, but at that time, I did start command configuration using the utility on Windows. I had to install Linux PXE, because my CD drive does not work.

Now, to complete my tragic situation, my HD failure! As long as my CD-ROM does not work, the only way I can at least try to bring my data partition is trying to reformat the system partition, install Suse and copy the data in my office. At least until I can buy another CD-ROM unit.

But how do I set the BIOS to boot from PXE without the utility of Windows? I know that by pressing the C key while booting, the CD-ROM startup is enabled, but does anyone know a similar option to choose the PXE boot?

I appreciate really have no idea!

    Thank you!!

    Best regards!

Now I have I already did once, since my CD-ROM combo is 'dead '.

If you press N immediately after laptop starting so the unit should be able to boot from the local network.
Also in the Toshiba HWSetup under tab BootPriority PXE network boot protocol must be selected.

  • Satellite Pro 6000 and SD-R6472 DVD burner

In response to my previous posting (now locked), the engraver of the SD-R6472 DVD can be used with Satellite Pro 6000.

Firstly used the dreaded IDE 1 # error will be encountered, but not panic, this can be overcome by asking the Technical Support CSEL-Changer Toshiba Software and this will change the master/slave setting of the drive.
    After that, everything works fine.

    Hello

  • Satellite L30-134 PSL33 - Question about the version of the BIOS and the type of DVD writer

    Hello!

I bought a Toshiba L30-134 PSL33 the week last in Hungary. I recorded to Toshiba international warranty, so I saw that my cell was made the 19.10.2006.
My friend bought the same laptop (Toshiba L30-134 PSL33) too (also in Hungary), two weeks ago. His machine was made on 19.12.2006.
It's already funny, but that's not all.
My laptop has a series number starts with X, and the machine of my friends has this starting with Z. That's ok.
    But here it is...
I have a BIOS version of 1.3 and my friend has a BIOS version of 1.9! 0.6 gap within two months? Why?
The other thing. I have a DVD burner called Mat * a UJ - 841 S and my friend has a LG 4082. Once again: why?
If you are looking for Toshiba BIOS update you don't find anything! It is very interesting. There must be some updates to the BIOS, because I read here to another topis that someone has a BIOS version of 1.4. But there are 1.9 too.
Each book was brand new when we bought.
    Any idea?
Let me know when you bought your laptop, what BIOS version it has, and what kind of DVD player there.
I'm wainting for the answers, because I'm really interested!

    Thank you
    Marcell

    Hey Arnaud!

I m from Hungary, too, but I think I should speak English on this forum :) So here is my notebook, I ve bought on 24.12.06. :

    Type: L30 - 134 PSL33E
The machine was made on: 19.12.06
    Series: starts with Z
    DVD player: LG
    BIOS version: 1.9

You should t be nervous on the drive, the carpet * a Panasonic, and I think that s as good as LG. Why are they different? I put t know, maybe Toshiba was such at the time. In the specifications I didn't seen anything on the drive type, so I think that s not relevant. I t has not found another version of BIOS for this model, so I t understand too why and what are the differences between the versions. But if you n t have a problem with your machine, you do not need to change the BIOS. This isn't a PC, if you haven t many options to change in the BIOS.
If you want to discuss on the laptop on the Hungarian language, I recommend the Toshiba section on www.prohardver.hu.

    Best regards
    Abel

I JUST BOUGHT second hand satellite p20... Well I recharge the battery.

Before trying what whether the device correctly. My previous unit was Satellite P20-303, and after two years, there is a lot of dust inside the unit. Maybe is the reason for closing overheating. You have second hand unit and who knows how the previous user has used the device.

Don t be afraid. Everything is ok.
The restore CD contains the ghost image files and it uses the files Windows 98 MS system to boot from the CD.
It is usual that the Win98 message during initialization.
In addition, the recovery CD formats and automatically remove the HARD drive.
You have only to boot from this CD and you select standard mode.

  • Satellite Pro L40 and it crashes and freezes

    Hi guys

I have a Satellite Pro L40 and it crashed on me a few weeks ago.
It will turn upward, but everything freezes.

They gave me a copy of Vista to friend, but this only loads until it said 74.5 MB necessary and only 74.4 on the partition so I guess it does not load the full program of vista.

I don't have the original backup drive so cannot use it.
Is my only need to get a new hard drive and if what kind do you recommend.

Sorry if I have'nt it explains very well

    Derek

In my opinion, it is always good to have original Toshiba DVD facilities. If you want to order a visit https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx, and how much you should pay for it.

As Akuma wrote before starting installation Vista delete existing partitions, create new and install Vista on it. I don't think that you need a new HARD drive.
