Satellite A30 crash

My lap top crash when I run antivirius scan. So I thought it was a virus and wiped all the provided disks but after charging fully charge zone alarm pro and avg antivirius tried to scan and less than 10 minutes it crashed again. It starts well and runs normally connect to Internet via ADSL downloads and tracks together set ups.

I took it in an engineer and he said he was knacked needs a new motherboard, but I tend to think it was to make me buy a new. Someone has ideas that he plays DVD it plays music no probs and I can even run a control anti-virus on a separate 30-gig card in no probs.

Hello Del

Please slow down! First of all, it will be interesting to know what model of laptop you have. Your ad is written while I don t know where the beginning and the end.

What do you mean by crashing, stops suddenly or what? To be more specific, and describe what is happening exactly.

  • Upgrade of RAM for Satellite A30 213

After buying my satellite second hand I immediately found why it was for sale, the dreaded overheating.
I cleaned the fans with compressed air and it worked fine, then my error fatal, flushed with success, I bought the RAM online and installed. It was recgonised by the system and I thought all was well until it has proved defective and crashed my operating system, no recovery was possible.

An operating system later new XP (and £50 poorer), I'm ready to have another go, but I can't open the user manual on the Toshiba site.

I want to get right to the RAM of a reputable suplier, but the specifications I have indicates only DDR RAM, does anyone know the full specification (pins etc) because I don't want to lose it all again?

    Hello

    Have a look here:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=7249&ft=m&St=3

You need the PC2100 200 pin SODIMM (266 MHz) DDR modules.
You can upgrade the Satellite A30 Ram up to 2 GB. This means that you can use the 2 x 1 GB module.

I had a good experience using modules from Kingston.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A30 off completely

I've had my Toshiba Satellite A30 about 18 months - it has recently started to 'crash' (off completely) when I run a web - cam, or a HP Deskjet 600 to a parallel port - it has the same effect when I run Macafee VirusScan and BTYahoo Spy watch software - does anyone know what my problem is?

    Hello

I used to have a similar problem - my A30-161 would be very hot and then all of a sudden turned off. I had him for 15 months. I guess, because the antivirus scan requires more processor power that requires more power, and USB devices use the device (in most cases), it is possible that your channel of cooling near the radiator and power supply is blocked by dust. Mine was full of dust impact.

It is under the Panel with two screws T10 (the 6 pointed star) near fans and cooling grids - be careful, however, because the CPU is under him as well.

You can find a guide step by step with images (which are the A30) to:

    I hope this helps.

  • Satellite A30 stops when you run Norton

Hello. I have a Satellite A30 which crashes when trying to run Norton.

Spec: Satellite A30, Win XP Home SP1, 512 MB RAM, 3 + Ghz processor.

We also noticed that the fan seems to be "fully enlightened", even when he's just sitting on the desktop with any of the applications that are running.

    Any ideas?

We noticed that there was a notification for install of XP SP2, so we clicked on that. He started to install, the fan is even harder, it crashed again and now there is no notification of XP SP2!

We are sure that this is a problem of overheating or battery, but we wonder what we can do about it.

I hope someone can help. Thank you.
    Nath.

    Hello Nath

As far as I know that satellite A30 is about two years old and agree to your description, I assume that the unit needs to be cleaned. I have Satellite P20, also more than two years, and for a short while I cleaned. You can't imagine how much dust was inside. I have a cat at home and I think half of the cat hair was inside.

After cleaning, the laptop can take a breath and it works more silent. Now, I am very satisfied. I can just recommend you to do the same.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite A30: Compatibility Intel 2200BG miniPCI WLAN

I installed an Intel 2200BG (Toshiba part No.G86C0000X310) Wifi card in my Satellite A30. I tried to load a number of different versions of Intel drivers, but whenever I activate the driver of that laptop computer crashes. I've seen other messages indicating that they got this card works by pin 11 and 13 with masking tape, I tried this.

Has anyone else seen and solved my problem?

    Hi Andy

Before that you purchased this card did you check compatibility with your model of laptop with the cards?

By the way: all laptops A30 aren't ready WLAN. For example, A30 - 514 is WLAN ready and compatible Wireless LAN card is PA3212U-1MPC. Check it!

    Hello

On the HARD drive there is not a recovery partition type of hidden and you should be able to use the full capacity of the HARD drive. The problem is that we do not know what you have done exactly.

Have you installed OS on already created partition or you have created a new using 50% of the capacity of the HARD drive?
Maybe now you create logical drive. Please check this in computer management > disk management. You can find it with a right click on computer > manage.

  • Satellite A30 closed moderately down

It is not easy to say much about these problems. It will be interesting to know what you mean by crashing. What exactly happens?

  • Questions of Touchpad on Satellite A30

    Hi all

Recently, I sent my Satellite A30 for repairs because the touchpad is dead. Since I had 'fix', his erratic behavior. Sometimes, I lost all the horizontal movement, with only the operation of the vertical direction. Sometimes during a windows session, I lose the feature full touchpad (including the left/right button).

I also noticed that a fresh windows session allows me to use scrolling (side of the touchpad) and also rear ease in web browsers. However, after a few moments, windows stopss recognizing the scroll and the b/f gestures (even if the touchpad in my tray icon highlights the fact that I use).

I've updated my ALPS drivers to the latest version, but that didn't fix it.

I'm guessing that it's a software issue and not a hardware fault as a reboot solves these problems temporarily. I don't know if there is a hardware problem that confuses the software. I have no idea.

If anyone has any ideas or has experienced this before, please let me know as it's more boring.

    See you soon,.

    Jason

    Hello

It's not easy to say why this touchpad problem.
Questions sometimes very strange occur due to overheating. I noticed that if the temperature goes down to the critical level of the operating system stops, the laptop crashes or many strange issues occurs as a malfunction of the touchpad. In your case, I recommend that you check the cooling modules and try to use the vacuum cleaner for cleaning. Maybe it helps.

The second possibility is that the touchpad has a malfunction. You know, it has been replaced in the past and it is possible that there is something wrong with the hardware.
You can contact Toshiba service partner and explain the situation after the replacement of touchpad.

    Good luck

  • Recovery of my Satellite A30 303

    Hello

My Satellite A30 303 needs to be recovered that XP is constantly hooked and crashing and I would also be able to create a partition with a distro of linux on it, but the problem is that the DVD - RAM drive no longer works, and I was using a DVD-RAM external for awhile drive LG GSA - 2166D to read and write CDs , but I can't get the laptop to start this device as it is USB. Is it possible to boot from this device, or is it an another workaround?

A big thank you to anyone who can help me.

    Ali

    Hello

Don t waste time and start don t try from the external USB CD/DVD drive.
    It's just not possible!

The BIOS does not support a boot from the USB WEIRD. The BIOS supports disk HARD, the ODD, the LAN and USB FDD as devices bootable but not CD/DVD USB drive.

You have no other choice as to buy a compatible CD player and internal support.

Of course, you can try to boot from LAN, but it's not very easy and you will need to configure a RIS server.

  • Satellite A30, Win XP Pro SP3 - modem does not work

Another problem with this laptop Satellite A30
The built-in modem does not work.

    * Explanation: *.
The driver is correct and downloaded from the Toshiba support site.
The modem is identified as "Toshiba software modem amr" and is installed on com3 port.

When I click on "diagnosis" and "ask modem" (right labels can be different, since my is an Italian win xp, I just translated the Italian labels), a window pops up saying: it is impossible to open the door (port), the modem is connected to.

I tried to change the com port of the modem to different numbers, but the problem is the same.
I don't know if the modem is a real map connected somehow to the main Board or is built right on the main map. It would be the first case, I may change see ad. BTW, the mini slot pci is already occupied by the gigabyte of Wi - Fi, so the modem must be elsewhere.

This is strange, since I've done at least 2 other win xp pro on this machine facilities, always download and install the appropriate drivers, and the modem has never worked.
    Thank you
    S.

    Hello

Have you installed the SP3 Windows XP Home edition, then the drivers or SP1 and later updated to level to the SP3 version?
    > It's strange, because I did it at least 2 other facilities on this machine pro win xp
    What other facilities?

Fact checking for viruses, all firewalls security and it did not help at all.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hello Hakan

Please check that the machine not too much heat! The symptom you describe is exactly that of a machine overheating. Check if the fan is running continuously before stopping. Also check that there is no dust in the cooling of the machine module.

  • Satellite A30 product recovery CD

I need to restore the HD of Satellite A30 of my boy.
He gave me that one DVD 'product Recovery DVD-ROM'
He is also says "2/2", which I suppose that it is disk 2 of 2.

This DVD is not bootable. so I guess there could be a disk of 1/2 which is bootable and contains the basic recovery program.

My question: am reason above supported and if yes, where can we get the first DVD, since my boy seems to have lost it.

    Thanks for any help.

    Peter

    Hello

You are right! There must be a n ° 1/2 recovery DVDs!

If you (or your son) have lost it, you can order a new one for every Service Toshiba partner. You only have to sign a solemn declaration for MS that you have lost the CD!

To http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com when you go to the support & downloads you will find a list of partners of Service Toshiba!

The modem uses a virtual com port. It s not a real port.
I wonder why it usually happens after the installation of the new operating system, you must install drivers Toshiba together in the right order
Installing the chipset utility is important

The modem driver should do the work and you n t need to activate com ports
Please choose the right side of the page of the Toshiba driver modem driver after installing the OS correctly. I think that's the key
