Satellite A300 - overheating and sudden death

Hey there! So the problem with the sudden closing of my laptop has bothered me for the last 6 months. I did not understand why it happened. But now, I think I can.

As soon as I start watching movies or high quality youtube and if I do this as 20 minutes, the laptop can crush! Only, it gets really hot, and there is nothing I can do about it. However, if I put a fan beside her, she will continue to work normally. Otherwise > overheat and BOOM! : D

Is this a known issue? Is it the same for other portable series? Thank you.

    Hello

I have a problem with my 3 month old Toshiba Satellite A300D-126. Any time I play a game like Call of Duty 4 or Warcraft after like 15-20 min, the left side of the laptop where the cooler is placed, it is overheating, almost too hot to the touch, and finally the laptop stops.

I have to mention the fact that, recently, I installed XP (all the drivers downloaded from the Toshiba site), but I somewhat had the same problems on Vista also.

I downloaded MobileMeter, and temperatures have shown here I think that they are not normal:
Temp - HDD-35-36 degrees C and 80-85 C (when I m only not with the games, so I think that during the Games time. significantly increase)

Is it possible that the cooler can deal with games, and it is dusty? If so, how do I to clean?

    Allows any kind of response,

    Thank you

    Hello

I play call of Duty 4 on Satellite A300-1LI and so far everything is fine. Okay that's the different hardware platform, but I still believe that there should be no difference.

I think CPU temperature is perhaps greater than usual but, in my opinion, not the critical level. The normal temperature of the hard drive and the same as on my Satellite A300.
I don't know how you use your laptop, but it is the new model of laptop and I don't think that there is so much dust inside. If the laptop is placed on the desk, try putting back on two CD boxes and place it on the top position. Reduce graphics settings in the game and check again.

Is the method of cooling energy savings of Toshiba to the maximum level?

  • My Satellite keeps overheating and turning off

My laptop satellite keeps overheating and stopping when doing hard CPU work. The thing is if I open power management and keep the reset of the method of cooling performance max speed up the fan and it cools.

It does not seem to adjust the speed of the fan if left only you I have to keep changing it and in a minute or two, it slows down again and then have to change once again at the speed of the fan to the top.

No idea why this is happening and how to fix it? Grateful for any help. Thank you arran

  • Satellite A300 - temperatures and overheating

    Hey there

I own Toshiba Satellite A300 for a year. Lately, I've noticed overheating.

Idling, the temperature the lowest I measured using HW Monitor was 60 ° C for the processor, 50 ° C for the GPU, 42 ° C to the HARD drive. When I have several applications open, it amounts to 83 ° C for the processor and 62 ° C for GPU, during execution of system witch is quite slow. Lower part of the housing is very hot same keyboard is hot and she is uncomfortable.

Any idea where might be a problem? Should I put it in service? Thanks for the replies.

    Hello

You don't have to send it to an authorized service provider, you need to clean your laptop anytime!

I have recommended the jet of compressed air. Blow gently and shortly the depression of the air holes of the case of the machine where the hollow air flows. This could eliminate the dust from the cooling fans.
This procedure should be done every 3-4 months to ensure reliable operation and avoid the mistakes of the system.

I've always used compressed air jet and I never had problems yet.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A300 - overheating graphics card

    Hello.

My Satellite A300 got recently repaired from the Toshiba official represent in my hometown of Portugal. The problem was overheating, as usual. They understood the problem, it was dust and the radiator was malfuncion. They have changed the radiator and I paid 184,5 as a repair bill. When I got home, the problem still remained, and it seems worse.

When I start a game, like world of warcraft, for example, the graphics card will of constant 50 degrees to 100 to like 10 seconds, and then the laptop stops.
Someone could point me in the right direction and could they be scamming?

I mean, I paid to solve the overheating problem, but they have not solved. Next Monday, I'll see what they had to say. Should I pay for another repair (repair minimum is 80, even if anything needs to be repaired).

PS: Just in case where, is my graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650.

PS2: Sorry for the bad English, I'm Portuguese :)
    Thanks for reading this.

    Hello

Theoretically it could also be a software problem if the laptop is overheating. I had the same problem because I installed display drivers not Toshiba and they had different thermal management so the laptop was overheating. I removed this display driver and installed the new Toshiba display driver and the problem was gone, because these drivers are designed and pre-tested by Toshiba.

Otherwise I would also contact the ASP and check what they say. ;)

    Hi Vilus

During the long period of use, the cooling modules may be blocked by dust.
This would prevent air from traffic and could lead to a higher temperature.
I have experience with such behavior cell phone because this happened to my two different notebooks from different manufacturers.

The cooling modules couldn t run with the best performance because of the dust and I was forced to use a jet of compressed air that has helped remove a lot of dust and debris.
I blew air through the vents and fans and I was really surprised how much dust was hidden inside the laptop.

In any case, after this procedure accelerated, the temperature went down and laptop didn t stopped automatically.

  • Satellite A300-1GN and driver Vista x 64 support

    Hello

I own this model for 2 days (happy?).
However he seemes logically that if this laptop can support up to 8 GB of RAM (I bought with 4 GB) should have option to install the x 64 operating system.
It seems, but it's not like I know. There is no drivers for x 64 on the official website of Toshiba download MS Systems.
Well, I'm able to understand that you do not want to support Win XP x 64, because this system is aging.

I do not understand how it is possible that every major company supports Vista x 64 to their devices and Toshiba are not.

It seems absurd that you not deliver the proper drivers and I really can't believe that.
I am amazing and I hope that the main reason is that the product I own is a new model and drivers soon appears.

For example, satellite A200 has x 64 support despite the fact that it is a model lower and lower...
I hope that we can hope that our doubts will explain, and Toshiba will be slight not their longer custommers, but bows to our requests.

If I can be wrong to seek the necessary drivers, then want to apologize for my post.
But if I'm wrong I'll be glad to hear the rational response and make sure the drivers coming soon!

    Kuba

    Hi Kuba

Satellite A300 is one of the new series of Toshiba laptop on the market right now.
Because most of the people uses the run Vista and Win XP 32 bit OS, drivers for these operating systems must be released first.
I m sure that the driver 64 bit Vista will follow as other as for other series of laptops

There is therefore no reason panic buddy

  • Satellite A300 - HARD and the Installation of the OS disk replacement

    Hello world

I watched a few videos online regarding how can I do to replace the two HARD drive in my laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 PSAG4E-04901CEN. However, I have a few inquires before that I undertake this task:

    (1) are there any recommendation to which HARD drive should I buy for this laptop. I want something affordable with speed and relatively good ability.
    (2) how I would go about installing Windows 7 OS on the new HARD drive. I have to update my BIOS and drivers when I finished installing?
    (3) are there other guides (written or video) that you would recommend that I go through before making the replacement?

I appreciate any help on this matter.

A few days ago a friend of mine asked me to help. HARD on its A300 disc was defective. We bought the new 250GB SATA HDD, succeeded him, and after that, I installed Win7 32 bit.
    Now the machine works perfectly.

Do not do anything as the BIOS update. Just put the new HARD drive and launch the installation of Win7. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities, you can find and download from the Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Here's how I installed all the stuff on A300 friends:
    -Win7
    -chipset driver
    -Storage Manager
    -display driver
    -driver sound
    -modem driver
    -utility supervisor
    -infrared
    -patches
    -configfree
    -VAP
    Hardware - toshiba
    Control - HDMI
    -WLAN driver

Everything works well but lacks some drivers

    Added Vista tips:
Toshiba - help - working properly
    -Card reader - installed correctly
-Webcam driver for A500 - tested with Skype - works correctly.
    Driver - Synaptics

Win7 works well and I am very satisfied.

If you need help more made me know.

  • Satellite A300 sizzling and crackling of smoke

    Hi guys

My apologies in advance for my noobishness. I've had a satellite A300 for a few years now. In the last 2 days I heard a cracking sound, almost static - like noise on the side of the A300. Aside, I mean specifically the part which is a kind of metal grid - as you type, the left side, the silver metal Rack that is covered by 'sticks' plastic and conforms / spans the esc, numbers, and tab keys. Sorry for that horrible description!

Anyway - if I heard this noise, and today I opened it from its sleep and went on Mozilla and the sizzle is gone a bit messy, and what looked like dust, or at worst, smoke, was issued by the grill. I quickly turned off and shut it down.

It does not freeze, or now or touch the grid, it was not very hot. He has not extinguished automatically either. I turned back on it and began to Mozilla and iTunes as a test and the grill has started making a loud, grinding and bad-sounding sound of Purring. No show this time, but I turned off.

It should be noted - my battery was very low during the past 18 months and I need the laptop on the charge to use it. Although he is in charge, the battery was on 27 percent when I turned it off. When using, my cell phone is always on the charge and Hi performance. Any ideas what it is / what I need to do? Thank you!

    Hello

In my opinion the laptop s internal cooling and grids of modules, including the cooling fans should be cleaned.
Generally and jet of compressed air should be good enough to get the dirt and debris removed, but I don't very well if this is useful in your case of m.

I mean your description sounds odd question, and I think that the laptop needs to be cleaned professionally.

So I recommend you visit some city centre of technicians for laptop or the Toshiba ASP in your country to get this cooling module cleaned in most cases, this procedure is delicate because the laptop must be disassembled so don t recommend this at home because of the risk of damaging the material.

  • Satellite C660 - overheating and decommissioning

I have a computer laptop satellite C660 and in recent weeks it has been overheating and switching of. The fan and the heat sink is free of dirt and I bought and installed a new processor, but the problem persists. Actually the only way I can get the machine to run must go into the BIOS and run it in a slower mode which is unacceptable for a normal performance. I think I may have one problem material but another CPU change don't know what to try next.

I can provide details if someone need help and I thank everyone in advance for any advice they are able to provide.
    Concerning

    Hello
do you have a thermal past when you installed the new processor?
No idea on this model but have you check if any other component (for example the video gpu) add thermal paste on him?
You use the laptop on a solid surface to allow the bottom of the laptop breathe properly for better cooling?
I know some pretty stupid questions, but is just a double check.

  • Satellite A300-23d and memory upgrade

    Hi all

I want to upgrade my laptop memory 4 GB to 6 or 8, I got the Satellite A300-23d.

What is the best memory for me? I'll get the Win7 64 bit OS
I understand I have to do a clean install of the operating system, so my 2 Q is where can I get all the programs of Toshiba I got with the pc?

    Thannks for the help

    Hello

Up to 8 GB of RAM according to specification for laptop computer, you can upgrade.
You must use the RAMs 1 GB / 2 GB / 4 GB DDR2 800 MHz. If you 2x2gb for now, you can buy 4 GB of RAM additional or maybe two of them to use maximum RAM.

Module of RAM of 4 GB compatible a part PA3670U-1M4G number.

Win7 drivers download page you will find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/windows7_drivers.jsp
Unfortunately for your models PSAGCE drivers are not available for the moment. I'm sure that the pilots will be ready for download in the next few days. From time to time to check this page and you will see when drivers will be there.

  • Satellite A60 - overheating and decommissioning

    Hello

As "[email protected]", I have similar problems with my Satellite A60.

After about 10 minutes of normal use on a hard, flat surface, the laptop starts to become very hot and turns off (obviously overheating). He started only when working with heavy editing workload, but is now it does all the time.

Is this a common fault with the A60? I've had mine for a little more than 12 months and had no probems, and now all of a sudden I can barely use the thing! (of course, it's just out of warranty)

Any suggestions would be very appreciated,

    Thank you very much

    Mike

    Hi Mike,.

That strangely resembles the typical issue of overheating that can infest the laptop users. Laptops use a metal matrix (similar to a car radiator) cooling to dissipate heat from the CPU when using, and if the airway through the matrix of the clogging of dust and debris, then a thermal trigger will be used to turn off the power to the laptop.

Air suction fans act like small vacuum cleaners and pull ambient air dust in the matrix where it gradually accumulates and blocks the air flow.

Try to use a hose of vacuum cleaner against the aspiration air grills to pick the accumulated debris. I do this with my laptop on a monthly basis.

    Kind regards
