    Hello

I'm not sure but I think that the Toshiba DVD r /-RW / RAM (number P000399450) drive must be compatible with the Satellite A50.
It is also called DVD Super Multi drive, UJ-820BTJ6-A (G8CC0001S210)

I found it on this page:
    http://www.impactcomputers.com/p000399450.html

But generally the best way to control the compatible parts and devices is to contact Toshiba service partner in your country.
Here, you will get all Hamade on the right parts.

    Hello

There are several ways to know which module memory is compatible and supported.
You can use a diagnosis too like Everest, you check the user's manual or from Toshiba Web site for details or you will contact the service in your country for support modules.

I'll try to answer the question: the Satellite A50 should support PC2700 DDR - RAM as the following:
    PC2700 256 MB (PA3311U - 1 M 25)
    PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)
    1024MO PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)

Now it s your choice. You can also google for offers

If you can see the power LED flash there is a serious problem with electronic control gear.
Built on the HARD drive and connect it to the other laptop as external device. After that, you should have full access to all your stored data, and you can copy them to any other device.

To be honest I have don t think it is worth to spend money to repair this old notebook.

  • How to make the partitions using the toshiba restore CD

Hi forum users. I just want to explain more on creating partitions using our Toshiba Recovery CD. I have a portable satellite A50-101.

I searched some topics on this forum and found this post from Quad. Just follow these steps carefully and you'll be successful to make the partitions on your hard drive.

Here is the message by Quad.
    ######################
    Hi forum users

If anyone of you needs an accurate description of installation of operating system using Expert mode, maybe this can help you.

When the recovery process has begun there are menu where you can choose between two modes of installation.
    1 standard mode
    2. expert mode

At first he put there important warning: all data stored on your computer will be lost. It is also important that hollow a Standard installation partition will be created and all data on the hard drive will be lost.

If you want to install the operating system on a partition, please use Expert mode. In this case, the software can be installed on an existing partition. Alternatively, you can make one by yourself.

If you want to make a partition with a set capacity, please do it on this path:

    1. choose number 2 Expert mode pressing
    2 approve OK key ENTER
    3. choose LOCAL > DISK > image
    4. look in: must be selected for the CD-ROM drive
In the Middle window choose GHO file and press ENTER
    5. using the TAB key you must mark the player information and so on and press ENTER
    6. using TAB button again part brand of window average (blue line) and with SPACE activate new dimension box
    7. place inside the new size of the partition and press ENTER again
    8. the question to continue with load disc? confirm with OK

I hope this can help you to make the desired partition size.

    Good bye
    ######################

At step 6 above, enter the size of the partition you want. Size must be entered in megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB). (mine is 40 GB HDD, i.e. 38146. I go to half, 19073)
Proceed with the disk load? Click OK.

It will now recover your machine to its factory setting. 2 partitions will be made.

Once the restore is complete, open my computer. You'll see only drive Local (c) on hard drives. Click on properties and you will see that the size that you specified in step 6 above (20 GB). So, where's my other 20 GB? It is a way to treat 2 to make a new logical drive.

Follow this link: (these links has screenshots for easier understanding)

http://www.theeldergeek.com/hard_drives_07.htm - create an extended Partition (step 1)
http://www.theeldergeek.com/hard_drives_08.htm - create logical drives in an extended Partition. (Step 2)

I hope this can help you make a new logical drive in an extended partition. :)

    Hi 012

Thank you very much for your posting. I forgot to mention that the logical drive must be created because the unusable space do not appear by Windows.

But there are users like you to help. Respect!
Fashion Expert recovery procedure section is now perfect.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A50-532: synchronization /-offline files

    Hello

I am using a Satellite A50-532 and I want to make the files available locally / offline that are stored on a server. I used to use the XP build-in functionality of offline files with my old laptop which worked without any problems. Unfortunately what it does not work with the Toshiba that I can't see the data on the server in the tree in the window "synchronization". "." Right click on the "Make available offline" menu is not offered by XP. I have already disabled the "fast user switching" as suggested by MS. Firewall and network problems may also be excluded.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello

You have configured your Toshiba laptop to use offline files?

If this isn't the case, you can set it up on this path:

On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
Select the enable offline files check box, and then click OK.

  • Re: Memory limit for Satellite A50 492

    Hello

I replaced Intel Celeron with Pentium M in my Toshiba Satellite A50 492 (PSA50E-01P02VPL). I did this partly because the manual says there is a limit superior of memory on Pentium (2 GB) than the Celeron (1 GB). Unfortunately mobile still sounds so equipped with more than 1 GB of RAM. Could you please help me how to use 2 GB with this material?

When I traded the processor I had to program cmos or something to make it possible to run a Pentium M.
Maybe other programming is necessary for a memory limit?

I have updated the bios to version 1.40.

The third limit of 1 GB of source States, but they are wrong in saying 512 MB is the maximum memory that can be inserted, cause now that I came across (PC2700, DDR 333 MHz) 1 GB in the first Bank and the second one is empty.

    Hello

Limitation of the memory depends on the chipset of the motherboard.
It s containing no software, so nothing will help you increase memory or to break limitation.

It is also the din mentioned user manual

  • Overheating on Satellite A50 problem

    Hi all

For a long time I've been on the forum, but here I am yelling help me, lol.

In any case, I have a Satellite A50-109 which serves me very well over the past years. It is essentially on 24/7 downloading files and also used to burn them to CD/DVD, most of the time. There was no problem until a few days back when I noticed that it is slowing down strongly. I really think I have a problem of overheating on this one.

Motherboard monitor, notebook hardware control and speedfan all indicate playback of the CPU. Now, my problem is, the fan does not turn on when the CPU temperature is below 65 ° C, and this causes the system really labor and crawl even with the simplest of tasks such as the launch of the windows Explorer. Cold startup the lappy takes only about a minute, but with the work lappy for a few minutes and restart it again will take about 5 minutes or more to be usable in any form.

I ripped off by the lappy bowels yesterday (yes I did, and I know what I was doing, lol) cleaned the fan and replaced everything back because they are but always the same. Previously, when I noticed the slowdown, I figured while I got some malware so I reinstall via the recovery CD, but still on the scanning performance.

Now, my question is: is it possible that I can prod the system to activate the fan all the time? Energy saving is already defined in the aggressive cooling method, but does not help a bit.

Sometimes I think to wresting on the fan again and without going through the voltage of the power supply motherboard fan and give it an external power supply to make it work all the time.

Thanks to all who took the time and interest to read and respond to my problems (if any).

    Hello

First I put t understand why put you something about overheating!
    Computer laptop doesn't overheat certainly!
I guess that the laptop does not turn off automatically! Am I wrong?
    So everything is ok!

I read many threads here in the forum and most people don favor t the rotation of the fan continuously.
Anyway, as far as I know the Toshiba HWSetup utility contains an option called dynamic CPU frequency Mode. You can assign it always high.
In addition, you can change the method of control of the CPU in the watch basic settings ask fixed.

By the way: don't forget that there is enough free space around the laptop to the airflow correctly! It's important!

good luck and have a nice day ;)

  • Satellite A50 power on problem

I have a satellite A50 produced in 2004. I was getting messages flashing up on top of the problems of critical battery despite being connected. Finally the computer lost all power. Now it is quite dead, and I can't make it work on the power supply. I removed the battery and plugged, but still have no power. There is no light on any name that is not in hibernation. It seems that some internal fuse needs to be replaced, or something that prevented completely from the power of work. I have changed the fuse in the plug and tried the power outlets alternative. Any ideas?

    Hello

Maybe there is a problem with the electronic power supply.
In this case, the motherboard should be replaced.
But you should ask Toshiba service to find the fault.

  • How to reformat Satellite A50 112?

    Hello
Can someone tell me how to reformat a Toshiba Satellite A50 112
    Thank you
    Gazza

    Hi Gazza,

To reformat your laptop, you must insert the recovery CD into your optical drive and restart the laptop computer while pressing the C"" key. This will cause your laptop boot from the recovery CD which will then launch the process of re - install.

Note that this process will be completely reformat your laptop and go back to its original state with the loss complete of the any of your own data and programs not original. Please make sure that you have a backup of your data before doing this.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A50 - starting possible USB DVD writer external?

I have a Satellite A50-11 four years old, I need to format a partition of the hard drive (the one with XP) installed but my DVD burner is broken.
My BIOS supports booting by an external DVD burner? Where it shouldn't, should I have any other possibility?

    Thank you

I doubt that this could be possible

As far as I know the BIOS supports booting from HARD, ODD, LAN and USB FDD (floppy) disk

  • How to make the partition of Seagate backup so the Macbook Air?

I just bought a Macbook Air 13' 2015, I have a seagate external hard drive backup 1 TB plus all my files in it, coming from windows PC and I switch to Mac, when I try to make a partition in disk utility, I can't select an option for partition, its greyed, but I can read/write because of the Paragon for Mac OS driver I want just a partition on my mac with Time Machine backup, but I can't use my external drive for Time Machine it will erase everything on my external hard drive. Thank you

Unless you need to keep the Windows files you put on the disk and copied to the computer, then I suggest that you simply re - prepare the drive for use on Mac. Because the drive has been formatted on a Windows system you cannot partition via the Mac. But you can re-prep. disk using the partition scheme GUID for the two partitions and format of one of them for MS-DOS or ExFAT using Windows. But as I said earlier, if you do not need to use Windows and want to use for the backup on the Mac, then he prep exclusively for Mac. Use Time Machine backup requires a volume that is at least 2 or 3 times the capacity of the computer HARD drive.

    Drive partition and format

    1. Open utility disk from the Applications\utilitaires folder.
    2. After disk utility charges select the drive (entrance Out-bumpy with of the mfgr.) ID and size) in the list to one side.
    3. Click on the Partition or delete tab in the toolbar utility of disc that is activated. If both are enabled, then choose clear.
    4. Adjustable circular diagram to set the number of partitions if you want more than one. Otherwise leave the default of one.
    5. In the Group dropdown set the GUID partition scheme. Define the type of Format Mac OS extended (journaled).
    6. Click on the apply button and wait for the fact button to activate.
    7. Quit disk utility.
