Satellite A50: Question on formatting of DVD - RAM

Hello

I would format a DVD-RAM on my Satellite A50, WinXp, but offer only FAT32, UDF1.5 and UDF2.0 DVDForm formatting tool. Is there a DVD-RAM driver available that would be able to UDF2.01 or newer? I tried the download section for my model but no results...
Thank you
-of

I checked on my Satellite laptop, M and I have the same options as you. To be honest, I do not think there is a more recent version of the DVDForm driver for your laptop. I'm using version 3.0.9.0a and you?

    Hello

As far as I know the Satellite A50 uses DDR PC2700 modules. These modules must be compatible:
    PC2700 256 MB (PA3311U - 1 M 25)
    PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)
    1024MO PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)

There are different models of Satellite A50, but I think that there should be a drive HARD IDE(ATA-6) 60 GB 4200 RPM with 8 MB buffer size.

Here is all the information I found.

    Hello

What model you exactly (for example, I am very interested in Satellite A50-111). But anyway if your mobile is correctly installed since your recovery CD or DVD it should be no problem.

Please check in Device Manager if there is some hardware problems with your DVD/CD drive. You have a DVD Super Multi drive and it is possible to burn them all.

Have you installed a software burn? Have you tried to format the DVD - RW, DVD + RW and DVD - RAM?
    What are your tried exactly?

    Hello
One question; What operating system do you use? Looking for XP or Vista drivers?
The Toshiba driver page provides all the necessary drivers. There is a new update 5.20 - B70A DLA . CA? OS independent and Ca s? s a good idea to install it.
This is the problem for writing or formatting DVD-RAM disk.

PS; The DVD-RAM driver is also available but only for W2k
The XP and W2k DVD-RAM driver is available by satellite Pro A120 PSAC0E

According to this statement you must have installed Windows XP SP3 home edition.

Your ad is a bit confusing to me. You have a problem with the functionality of DVD - RAM or optical disc drive cannot read all drives (different CD, DVD, DVD - R formats. DVD + R and so on)?

I put t know what is the problem with the optical disc drive, but way generally, an installation of software packages has nothing to do with ODD when you use it as first boot device.
    > I can not even restart my operating system discs cannot be read from the BIOS either.
    Restart or reinstall?
Is a readable recovery DVDs when you try to start the recovery image installation?

    Hello

I have a question about the installation of different OS Vista provided with Toshiba Satellite A210-128.

I Mat * a DVD - RAM UJ-850 drive and it will not read the CD bootable XP.
I found a few posts in other forums that this drive won't allow me to install XP.

So here's my question: someone at - he tried to install Windows 7 (RC TE) with this drive? Or maybe someone has been successful with the installation of Windows XP?

Thanks to all those who would like to help :-)

    Hi mate

I think you're a little confused, but I want to help you.
First of all it s any CD/DVD drive is installed in your laptop.
The installation of Windows XP and Win 7 should work with all readers who are able to read the CD or DVD.

I guess that you were not able to install Win XP because the CD/DVD drive was not able to manage this particular drive.
A friend of mine had the same problem with the other player. After a long period of use of the window of disc was not readable.
But he could solve this problem. It has burned (copied) the Win XP disk on another CD and then used the second drive to install Win XP.
The reader to read the other disk correctly.

Win XP and Win 7 are released on different disk but in most cases the readers should not have any problems with this disc
But if so, then it s mostly a problem of CD/DVD disc

    See you soon

  • Satellite M40: Question on formatting the HARD drive

    Dear Toshiba

I have laptop satellite M40 and want to format that my HARD drive is it certain that the software used for Toshiba HDD format

    Help, please

    Hello

What HARD drive you want to format?
If you want to format the HARD disk where the operating system works you can do if you are recovering your operating system with the recovery CD. However, you can boot into DOS mode and there you can try to use the format command. Note: You will lose all your files!
Also if you want to format an external HARD drive or a second partition, please right click on this drive, then format

You can also use a magic of Partitions if you want to create partitions, change the size or format hard drives.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A50 543 reads CDs and DVDs sporadically

I have a problem with my DVD-ROM in my laptop. It only reads CD and DVD sporadically. But most of the time that I dwell in a DVD and it try the bed. But after a few seconds it stops and the DVD - ROM led lights constantly.

My question is, can I get a new DVD-ROM? Or I have to send it back to Toshiba?

Sorry, my English is not the best ;)

    Hello

For me, this looks like a disk failure. After repeatedly the lens can not calibrate properly and so sometimes s not possible to read, burn with different media.
You should know that internal portable players using different parameters like master/slave or c - salt. These parameters is not editable as on drives for desktop PC.
Therefore, it is very important that you will use and bye a compatible.

If you want to know which drive will work on your laptop, so I recommend asking the Toshiba service partner for details.

  • Satellite P855-305 - Mat * un UJ8B0 DVD-RAM does not

I bought this phone recently (about 2 weeks), and when I tested the drive, it does not, no lights turn on, nothing.

I opened it manually (the mechanical Open button) and tried to put a music CD, the drive does not detect it.
In Device Manager, the drive seems to be quite normal.

I tried to look for new drivers, but no luck so far.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Is the CD/DVD drive reads any other DVD discs i.e?
You can eject the disc by pressing the eject button?

If it s is not possible, I think that the CD/DVD drive is faulty this s sad, but given that the laptop is new, you can replace this in the terms of warranty.

I tried to use recording SOUND now that comes with the laptop, no luck. I tried to reduce the size of the files, and try with lower write speeds but still no luck. Hello

I can't find any strange or mysterious messages in the log file.
You suggested that the drive can burn CDs but not DVDs.
The calibration lens dysfunction is sometimes responsible for these issues.
Unfortunately, I have no solution for this problem. The replacement drive must resolve.
The unit is fairly new in this case, you should ask for help ASP.

    Hello

How to help you if you don't mention what CD cannot be burned (original music CD, homes burned CDs, just specific producers, only some files are not readable). Give us more info on this issue.

Check a little better, and if there is no success is perhaps the defective drive. It is well known that some CD (a cheaper) cannot be burned properly.

  • Driver DVD-RAM on Satellite A110-149 problem

I recently received my copy of Express Upgrade to Windows Vista and I installed it as described in the user guide.

The first time Windows Vista ran normally and I had no problem with my DVD-RAM. But then, after having upgraded from windows it asked me to reboot. When I rebooted my computer Windows Vista does not recognize the DVD-RAM driver.

I searched the Web from Toshiba site, this driver but I couldn't find it. I just find drivers Windows XP, which could not be installed.

Do you have anyone had the same problem, or knows where I can get this driver?

    Hello

usually, a DVD-RAM needs no driver, it must be recognized automatically. Have you ever tried to remove the drive in system properties and restart the system?

Windows should install correctly after that. If this isn't the case, please make a comment.

    Welcome them

    Hi Newton_1,

It s nice that you have created this forum and post here a bit but some important info are missing.

    What operating system you have?
How did did you reinstall Windows (Microsoft or Toshiba disk)?

In addition, it would be interesting to know what you mean with Ethernal pilot. Do you want to say Ethernet driver?

Normally, if you reinstall Windows using the Toshiba Recovery disk you don't need a special driver. Everything is pre-installed on your computer.

  • Question about the extension of RAM for Satellite A50-522

    Hello

I have a Satellite A50-522, with a Pentium M 715 @1. 5 Ghz processor and Intel 855GME chipset. To expand its RAM I referred to the Spain/Toshiba support website and I bought the PA3313U-2M1G (1 GB SDRAM 166 MHz DDR333/PC2700) via amazon.com. It turns out that this RAM is for "Alviso chipsets" - which are those relating to the Intel Centrino processors with 9xx series express chipset. I called Toshiba/USA and they recommend the PA3313U-1M1G or its equivalent Kingston KTT3311 / 1 G (since it is impossible to find in the Mexico), instead of the one I already bought. They all seem exactly the same thing in their description, except for the note "alviso chipset.

    My questions are:
    (a) is the chipset of this computer, considered "alviso" type? and
    (b) if not, should I keep the RAM I bought already (PA3313U-2M1G for alviso chipset)?, can I have performance or compatibility problems? What are the risks of the use of this "alviso RAM' in a 'no-alviso chipset? I deeply appreciate your input.

    Thank you!

    Hello

The RAM modules for especially for chipsets alviso are not known to me, but the Satellite A50-522 certainly supports the memory PC2700 PA3313U-1M1G bar.
I guess the PA3313U-1M1G and PA3313U-2M1G are the same modules from memory.

PA3313U-1M1G and PA3313U-2M1G memory module are supported the same specifications of 1 GB - SO DIMM 200 pin - DDR - 333 MHz PC2700

I think you can use both modules without any problem.

  • DVD-RAM UJ-820 s does not work on the Satellite A50 - 543

    Hello

My present DVD-RAM UJ-820 s on Satellite A50 543 is not working correctly, original part is very expensive. Can I order to cheaper NEC AD - 7543A or NEC AD - 7540 A, but I don't know is it compatible with my Satellite A50 543 or not.

    Who can help me?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello

From my experience not every disc is compatible with your laptop. It depends on the master / slave / parameters c - salt.
The settings on the disks online slim for laptops is not editable as on desktop drives by putting the jumper.
The thin line command does not support riders, and so the firmware controls the settings.

But dnf666 already replaced the drive on sat 5200 and maybe your favorite player might be compatible
