Satellite A500-1GG (PSAR9E) loses 5-7% of battery in standby mode

My fully charged Satellite A500-1GG loses about 5-7% in stop for like 24 hours.

A similar question was already posted, but it is now locked. The solution he had to disable the "wake-ups", but I disabled them (BIOS v1.50) and I still have this problem (I think we can call it a problem). Imagine the accusation that he would lose if it has been disabled for a week...

Is this considered normal? If not, is there one solution other than the one posted before?

It's normal. The same thing on my Satellite A300. When I turn off and there all night off and not connected to the power running on next day it always shows between 88 and 94% battery charge.

There is nothing unusual and happens on all laptops. Of course, the values are not fixed and a battery loses capacity during the night so that others.

I'm completely puzzled as to why the machine turns on, (and almost exactly the same time each day!)

    Anyone have any ideas here?

    Hi freddo

Have you tried to load default BIOS settings?
Entry of the parameters press F9 BIOS and save the settings.

  • Satellite A500-1E4 (PSAR9E) - noisy fan stops is never (BIOS version 1.60)

Hello from the Czech Republic, I have also problem with noisy fan on my new Satellite A500-1E4 (PSAR9E) (i430M, GT330M) on 64-bit Windows 7 over Office Standard - see http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46719&start=165&tstart=0.

Today I have updated the bios to 1.60 (from 1.20) and there has been no change. When the laptop powered to the top of the adapter in all modes the fan is running at 60-70% (sometimes at 90% - my office is perhaps quieter :-(). What laptop power battery in normal fashion fan and high performance race to 60-70% (loud sound) and in the economy mode to 80% (very noisy). It's crazy that in economic mode produce more noise than mode high performance. The CPU temperature is cca. 37-43 C, GPU 48-57. Fans of course never stops and all it's standart office. No intensive work or games. I can't imagine in games.

Can someone help me please, I'm really helpless. Or this fixes only bios 1.30 and next version not?

    Hey Buddy,

I think that it of really difficult to say why this happens, but in my opinion you should provide more details about your operating system and drivers.
Are you running the Toshiba factory settings or you have installed another OS?
Fan sometimes high activity is due to a different display driver. Have you installed the latest display driver form Toshiba (NOT nvidia)?

  • Satellite A500-1EE (PSAR9E) media buttons are not lit in Fendora

I installed Fedora 16 on my Toshiba Satellite A500-1EE, part number PSAR9E, in replacement of Windows 7. Most of the stuff works very well, fortunately, except that the media buttons (play/pause, volume up/down, etc.) are not enlightened. It's frustrating because I often work in low light and simply can not see the button, which forces me to turn on the light every time I want to change the volume or move to the next song in my MP3 player.

The highlight was done with Windows 7 (running after starting Windows, but was extinguished during the boot process), so he's certainly not broken.

I tried with 16-32 & 64 bit Fedora and dreamlike Ubuntu 32 bit and I can't seem to find a way to turn on the light of media buttons, leading me to suspect is a Linux question nationally.

Is there a setting, tool or any other solution that would allow me to have my media buttons light on?

As you probably know for this lighting feature Toshiba designed little tool, this piece of software is designed for the Windows operating system only.
I also know that Toshiba doesn't support Linux, so there is none of these tools which runs on the Linux platform.

Have you tried to check some Linux forums and pick up the experiences of other experts in Linux.

  • Satellite A500-17 x gel when it is in full screen mode

I bought a Satellite A500 x 17 in December-, it came with Windows 7. I am really disappointed with her because she seems to have a number of construction problems.

The most annoying is that I can watch streaming of videos on Youtube or iPlayer but mode if I set the screen mode full screen, it works for a few seconds then freeze. The sound continues, but the video is frozen. If I hit escape he will happily play the video in small but put it back to full screen and the screen freezes after a few seconds.

I've updated the video driver to the latest version and have the latest version of the bios installed.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

To be honest, a good friend of me bought a Satellite A500 too but it is very statisfied with it. I talked a little bit with him this phone and Windows because I too think about buying it. He can t notice any problem and Windows 7 works like a charm, much better than Windows Vista. The same thing that I read many others

As regards your problem it is difficult to say what is the cause. You have already updated driver display and BIOS, which was a good decision I think. But the more interesting thing: which Internet browser are you using? I m using Firefox browser and I can recommend it.

In addition, it would be interesting to know if the same happens if you watch DVDs (without streaming on the Internet)?

  • Satellite A500-1GL - PSAR9E - RAM max

    Hello, I have 2 * 2 GB of RAM on my laptop, I bought a 1 * 8Gb Corsair 1600 Mhz revenge.

But when I insert my new memory module only, I have a blue screen. I saw with CPU ID & SIW that my maximum capacity is 8Gb, so here's my question: is the maximum capacity of 8 GB only for 2 modules of memory of 4 GB each? Or I can theoretically have only a single slot with 1 * 8 GB?

North Bridge: Intel Havendale/Clarkdale Host Bridge revision 02
South Bridge: Intel HM55 revision 05

    Thanks for reading.

You are right. You can increase the Ram up to 8 GB.
In your case, there must be a compatibility problem. According to the specifications of the laptop compatible RAM for your machine is 4 GB DDR3-1066-PA3677U-1M4G.
In my opinion you should order both of them and update your computer.

Modules of RAM and very good quality, you can also order by Kingston - http://www.kingston.com/us/memory/search/options/

I have a problem: when turning on the pc, the fan speed is still 90%, whatever the pc, and if the computer goes into sleep mode the fan stops and does not restart and I got the message: 'problem with the cooling system, turn to pc immediately '.

I had this problem also when I got the 2.2 bios, when I upgraded to 2.40 for a few weeks, everything was normal and now the problem again.

  • Satellite A300-1NO - wakes up to the top of the standby mode

    Hi all!
I have a Satellite A300 1NO with Win XP pro.
The problem is that the laptop wakes up from sleep mode automatically after about 5 minutes.

I tried unplugging all the cables (LAN, usb, etc.) but the power plug, but it's the same result.
So what can cause this? What should I try?

    Thank you.

You must disable Wake up on LAN function in the BIOS and Windows.
Check the BIOS for this option!

You can disable this feature in Windows if you right click on the network adapter > properties > advanced > wake on LAN

I hope it works for you.

  • Satellite A500 and TV tuner feature

    Hi all

    I have a satellite A500 mahcine (PSAR9A - 01 H 001), who was supposedly a digital tv tuner integrated in it.

When I got to the machine he had windows 7 home - which has been upgraded to the work for Win 7 teacher I needed access to the domain.

The thing is that there is no sign in the hardware of a tv tuner card Manager and WMC reports no card installed.

Ive tried to download and install the drivers from the toshiba site, but it's just runs and does nothing

Someone told me everything clues how to get this running thing (if it actually comes out)

    Thank you

    Hello

What do you mean with supposedly? Has your laptop TV tuner or not?
I tried to find the exact specification for laptop, but unfortunately I didn't find it.

I ve checked the Toshiba download page and wasn't able to find the driver TV tuner so I think that your model of laptop (PSAR9A) - 001 01 H has not.

By the way: If your laptop is a TV tuner on the right side for laptop it should be placed taking TV tuner. It should be between the ports USB and DC Jack.

  • Dead by Satellite A500-1pj after involuntary Bios Update

    Hello world

A friend of mine bought a new PC laptop toshiba Satellite A500-1pj a month ago. Windows 7 pro 64-bit pre-installed.
Also preinstalled: support software toshiba who - correctly - configured search automatically and installs updates and critical fixes.

Last Sunday this wonderful software recommended an update 'critical' to my friend - she's no expert but a user experienced who can make the difference between an update of the bios (and avoid this!) and a security patch, she agreed to download and install what she believed to be a security update.

Sure, she gave permission to an update of the bios being installed. During the process of updating the machine froze completely. She waited for three hours and then pulled the plug. Guess what: the machine is now completely gone. Does not display without fan, simply nothing.

Hotline support Toshiba told him that his cell two weeks old is not under warranty because this warranty does not cover software 'problems and the Bios updates are software upgrades.

The company repair says a repair will very probably equal to buy a new laptop so here we are...

    My questions:

    (1) the laptop is a Satellite A500-1pj (PSAR9E-01M00QGR) fitted to a phoenix UEFI bios (bios toshiba/phoenix, 1.1.26 update tool is pretty radical - no warning at all! he tried to update me my computer dell laptop, lucky!).
I found some posts on older machines that can be reflashed using a usb disk, hot spare bios back and a combination of keys (Fn + B or Fn + F...). is it possible to do this with a UEFI bios too?

    (2) anyone out there have the same problem?

    (3) any chance of toshiba help us with that issue and prevent others from making the same mistake to understand at least a warning in their bios updates?

    Thanks for your help!

    Tony

    > The company repair says a repair will very probably equal to buy a new laptop so here we are...
    I doubt that
I think that the module ROM BIOS was flashed incorrectly (don't know why) and therefore you can not start the laptop.
This can happen for different reasons, maybe that the update process was interrupted due to a process running in the background, etc.

In order to solve this problem, the ROM module must be flashed again using a special crisis disk BIOS... that's all.

The update of the BIOS is always a sensitive procedure but if everything was done correctly, then update the BIOS must successfully complete.

I found this very interesting and useful to Toshiba and HowTo doc correctly updated the BIOS!

I would recommend contacting a local ASP (authorized service partner Toshiba) in your country. Guys will help you!

  • Satellite A500-1GL - cannot upgrade the BIOS

    Hello

I tried to upgrade the BIOS on my Satellite A500-1GL (PSAR9E) for awhile now, but a dead battery so I can not go beyond the security check at the beginning. Is it all of the way around it, like I'm connected with current alternative, so I don't see what the problem is! Could I have possibly self-extracting zip files.

Any help would be appreciated as this is very frustrating!

    Hello

I think that you will not be able to update the BIOS, if your battery is dead.
Victory based BIOS update can be updated from Windows system, and there is a security option that allow you to update the BIOS only if the laptop is connected to the power adapter and if the battery is charged.

You can update the BIOS using a traditional BIOS version, but as far as I know that Toshiba service partner could do that.

    If you have two options:
Purchase a battery in order to update the BIOS by using win according to BIOS version or you will get in touch with an ASP in your country and will ask you to update the BIOS by using the traditional version of BIOS.

But the BIOS update is necessary to you?

I have a laptop with the old BIOS version and I don't have that day even if the new version has been released.

  • No noise from the multimedia keys on Satellite A500

Hello I have same problem as in the topic here:

    https://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=64595&TSTART=150

I do the same thing as the egold70 user (re install VAP and SCCF) and the problem is partly in trouble.

Now all the extra button (eco, light on/off) works fine, but there is no sound on the buttons.
When I reboot laptop there is a sound at first: they blink and do a "beeep" but after I play music or anything like that that make the 'sounds' (like the sound of incoming mail or something) the buttons become silent, they only Flash.

I reinstall the sound drivers that did not help, funny because when the miusic plays constantly they make a noise when I turn off miusic after a few seconds, they became silent. When I do Fn + ESC (mute on / off), there is a sound like at the start, but as I say, until some other 'noise' is played and they become silent. It's boring to FN + ESC again and again.

    Anyone can help with this?
    Satellite A500-1EE
    PSAR9E
    Windows 7 64 bit

Are you using the original pre-installed OS that you got with your laptop?
Have you tried to reinstall extra package from Toshiba?

  • Satellite A500 - does not start correctly

    Hi guys,.
Sorry if this is a re-post, but I couldn't find any information.

Basically, I went to turn on my computer laptop thisarvo and the led lights up and stays on, the HARD Drive LED lights for a second and the fan starts a second but then the laptop is right there with a white screen and the power light on.

I managed to get it started once and restored to factory settings. Stop it, went to restart and its still doing the same thing.

Any help will be much apreciated.

    + model - Satellite A500/02 PSAR9A - S 02 001 +.

    Hey Buddy,

Hmm... I think it sounds like a hardware malfunction and Windows installation should not affect the start-up of the laptop. Right now equipment is checked and starts and it has nothing to do with the version of Windows installed.

Here in the forum FAQ/How-to section, I found an interesting announcement and it might be useful for you:

    I bought my laptop 3 weeks ago, models: Toshiba Satellite A500 PSAR9A - 02 s 001
I bought it in Australia, but I can't find any driver on www.toshiba.com.au support.

    Any help?

    Hello

This seems to be an Australian series laptop
I m not very well why it s are not on the Australian page but if you need the drivers, you can try using the driver from the page of European driver from Toshiba as well

There are a series of Satellite A500 PSAR9E which is similar (or even?).
In my opinion the Win 7 drivers should work too.

    Welcome them
