Satellite A500 - Live Linux CD stops

Stop the 'initramfs' cd and a line before "occupied zone not found ATS...".

Someone has an idea without another CD because I need it,

I thank.

Hello

Maybe you need a SATA driver for the HARD disk. But generally this should not be necessary since you dΘmarrez form the Live CD.
However, take a look in the BIOS and select compatible SATA to AHCI mode.

If not, try another Linux Live CD distribution... I use Knoppix... it's nice

From time to time it happens on my P500 too but especially if I look at a Web page with flash player but after driver recover everything is OK again.
To be honest, I don't see it as a major problem.

Is there a particular situation when it occurs on your A500?

I'd appreciate it if anyone knows what to do to fix this

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Looks like the graphics card driver crashed for no apparent reason.
Have you tried to reinstall the graphics driver?

    To do this.
Visit the page of European Toshiba driver and download the driver for this model of laptop. Update the driver and restart the device.

  • Satellite A500 - 15N Wireless has stopped working

I bought my A500-15N in last October and had no problems at all with wireless connectivity. Last night when I was surfing Internet it suddenly stopped working (literally between two pages on Wikipedia) and I can connect is no longer. When I try the troubleshooting option, I still see an error 'wireless capability is turned off. I not made any changes to my router or laptop, so I'm not sure what could be going wrong.

Is the wireless adapter fuck and I need to get this replaced? I tried the combo FN + F8 but which does nothing either.

    Hey,.

Is the WLAN card still listed in Device Manager correctly and have you tried another key FN if combination work?
Usually the WLAN card can be disabled with the FN + F8 key combination you wrote

In your case I would recommend updating the driver WLAN. You can download the latest driver WLAN here:

My 026 has recently started to overheat and stopping at random during video games. I can't even run TF2 to learn more, then one hour unless he suddenly died on me. It is never used for this months of use.

I can assume there is a problem with my video card. I tried to download drivers to Toshibas site and the latest versions of Nvidia without change. I've already booked a Mobilecare service, I wanted to just evaluate what might be the possible problems.

    Hello

Maybe this problem of high temperature of s.
High temperature causes a closing down in order to protect the equipment against damage.
But the question is why the temperature increases to critical level?
One of the reasons could be a page nvidia graphics card driver. Such driver does contain protection against overheating. Therefore, use the driver of Toshiba page.
    I see that you did
Well, the laptop seems to be a new a .so usually dust should not be a problem and fans should work properly

A tip; Please make sure that you have enough free space around the laptop to ensure good air circulation.

However, I recommend asking an ASP in your country for verification may be what he s hardware related issue.

  • Satellite M40X 185 linux live cd, noise and temperature

    Hello

I just bought a satellite M40X-185. I flashed the bios with success of 1.30 to 1.60. Windows XP home (preinstalled) works perfectly. I found three questions:
    1. when I try to boot from a cd live linux (suse 9.3 dvd, knoppix 3.9 or mandrake move) the system hangs. Any idea of this behavior? With knoppix, it seems to hang while loading driver cardmgr. So I thought it was a problem with the linux cardbus but ultimately suse live driver dvd 9.3 has succedded in load correctly if I disable acpi (command-line ACPI = off). TR is the problem related to M40X material and/or bios version or is it related to linux (the kernel version maybe?). Thank you

    2. it seems to me that coolig system is much more noisy when I use the toshiba power management. If I use win XP default portable power management mode, the computer is much quieter!

    3. is there a way to measure temperatures of system (CPU, MB, GPU, etc...). Previously I have hade a satellite A50 and speedfan (www.almico.com) was able to measure all these parameters.

    Thank you

    Hi Sid

I'll try to answer best I can.

    (1) maybe the system BIOS is not really what the Linux kernel expects and so stops. Please see the Linux very good page of Toshiba:
    http://newsletter.toshiba-tro.de
Maybe you will find some tips on Highway M40 Linux ACPI.

    (2) time MS Toshiba power management and power management is supported by the profiles of school boards. Means that you can set according to your need, how the machine should act. In the Toshiba power management, you have many more opportunities than in the version of Ms. In the Toshiba module, you can choose to have machines operating in performance mode which means that it will give priority to the performance (which normally means of cooling by fan) instead of throttling of the CPU in order to limit heat production.
You can also do the opposite - give priority to silence (fan less and less speed) for the performance.
Of course there are some other settings as well (screen, disk HARD times sleep and so on).
I mean, is that the module from Toshiba is probably set up for performance, which means that you get the fan noise. If you like you can set minimum performance and so less noise. It has its advantage the Toshiba module - it is far better to control of the small parameters and levels of breakdown and time. So, you are in more control of your system.
Sorry for the long lesson - I'm the same at home and he is not popular :)

    (3) sorry - no answer here except that I don't know why anyone would want this. That's enough for me to know that the system controls all of these things by himself and goes off in case of overheating.

  • Can't stop my Satellite A500

    Hello

    I got a Satellite A500 (Windows7), which I just can't stop.

    Comments:
-) Normally to stop the laptop I go to the 'Windows' symbol on the lower left corner of the screen and choose "close". This option of closing unresponsive. Yesterday, I clicked on 'close' several times but it just does not respond. I gave up and just 'hibernated' laptop.
(-) I did a virus check to make sure that everything was ok from the point of view and it is.
-) There is no background running programms.
-) Others that the problem with closing, everything works fine (as far as I know).
-) Recently I have also a red x through the battery symbol warning me that the battery does not cool and must be replaced - I assume that the two are not connected?

I am a pretty simple user (surfing the net, up/downloading music/pictures), so it is not things "hightech" installed or pass somehow. I would appreciate your help guys!

    Kind regards

I put t know where you got this laptop, but if you want to start using it for private use I recommend you start using with the own operating system preinstalled.
Install the original image recovery using recovery disk or recovery disk option if the previous user have created.

After that make you own preinstalled OS and factory settings. Everything should be OK and you can configure how like it and also don't forget that there are not some viruses or anything else that may disturb you.

  • Satellite A500-1E4 (PSAR9E) - noisy fan stops is never (BIOS version 1.60)

Hello from the Czech Republic, I have also problem with noisy fan on my new Satellite A500-1E4 (PSAR9E) (i430M, GT330M) on 64-bit Windows 7 over Office Standard - see http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46719&start=165&tstart=0.

Today I have updated the bios to 1.60 (from 1.20) and there has been no change. When the laptop powered to the top of the adapter in all modes the fan is running at 60-70% (sometimes at 90% - my office is perhaps quieter :-(). What laptop power battery in normal fashion fan and high performance race to 60-70% (loud sound) and in the economy mode to 80% (very noisy). It's crazy that in economic mode produce more noise than mode high performance. The CPU temperature is cca. 37-43 C, GPU 48-57. Fans of course never stops and all it's standart office. No intensive work or games. I can't imagine in games.

Can someone help me please, I'm really helpless. Or this fixes only bios 1.30 and next version not?

    Hey Buddy,

I think that it of really difficult to say why this happens, but in my opinion you should provide more details about your operating system and drivers.
Are you running the Toshiba factory settings or you have installed another OS?
Fan sometimes high activity is due to a different display driver. Have you installed the latest display driver form Toshiba (NOT nvidia)?

Old BIOS versions, you can get an authorized service provider

  • Satellite A500 - NVIDIA driver stopped responding and has recovered

The screen it goes black, like 2-3 seconds, after East appear this message "Nvidia driver stopped responding and has found" is really starting to stresses out me. I have install the laptop with all its original pilot and original sound of Windows 7. I have reinstall everything, or anything else.

The ar updates to DATE, and I have no idea of what he wants in life. These are all the new models? Start making the problems early? I'm waiting for answers...
    Thank you...

    Hey Buddy,

If your display driver is up-to-date, you wouldn t get this error ;)

As wrote Akuma, Toshiba has released a new driver for this laptop that solved the problem. You can download it here:

If you are not sure, check the forum discussions. You will find enough on this topic.

  • Satellite A500 - 17 X - Fan has stopped working and the warning message

    As the title says.

I turned on my laptop today to hear him roar, and then it is simply stopped. I get this warning on every 20-30 seconds:
WARNING: a problem with the cooling system has been detected. Please turn off the power immediately and return it for service.

Instead of saying "then put it back in service," I can do to try to fix myself first?

    Thanks in advance

    Mike.

    Hey Buddy,

Other similar topics I found information that the fan control has been optimized with the latest version of the BIOS. I put t know what version of BIOS you have but most recent, a satellite A500 - 17 X (PSAR3E) is 1, 90 - WIN and can be downloaded here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

    I hope that helps! :)

  • Satellite A500 stops without reason

Satellite A500-1EC my mother constantly stops by itself. Especially when she uses Skype.

That is nothing in relation to Kt. The same thing happends when it is not plugged in.

I've updated the BIOS and drivers, that only solved a previous problem (when it is turn on automatically).

It seems that many people have or had similar problems. I guess that Toshiba has found an answer now, but I can't find it anywhere...

    Thank you!

Laptop is placed on the desktop when this happens?
Is the fan cooling may be blocked when this happen?

  • Satellite A500 - fans never stops

    Hello

I did some experiments with methods of cooling of vista...

First of all, when I start my satellite A500, something like three minutes before the fan to start very quickly.
When I opened the Toshiba PC Health monitor, temperatures never exceed 40 ° C, but the fan runs at 70%
Then temperatures decline to something like 35 ° C, but the fan never cease!

It's exactly the same with the two methods of cooling of the vista power management or the difference is really subtle.

But a strange thing is when I change the method's cooling performance to economy of execution while the fan is running, then it stops! And it starts again only when the CPU start to become warmer. But again, it remains always under 40 ° C. I think that's not so hot... and the fan noise is annoying when I want to have quiet little.

So in my opinion, there is a problem.
If I could change the settings in the economy mode, I would reduce the speed of the fan and I would like to raise the temperature when the fan should start. And when the temperature decreases the fan should stop or slow down to become quieter...

Thank you for your attention and sorry for my bad English ^^

    Hello

You said that the fans run at 70%
This would mean that the cooling modules run with maximum performance, if the temperature remains at the lower level. and that means that the cooling system control module working properly.

Also you talk about the temperature of the CPU. But there are additional devices such as GPU and HDD that creates the heat dissipation.
This means that the internal temperature would be different from the temperature of the CPU... possiby is higher...
That could be one of the reasons why the cooling modules don't stop and run with lower performance.

However, you should check if your BIOS is up to date.
If the most recent version was released then it s recommended to update the BIOS.

    See you soon
