Satellite A60-652: broken of on-board memory

My laptop has 512 MB of onboard memory, but it is broken...
Windows won't start beacause some *.dll files are missing. Memory test my which shows the amount of memory onboard is broken.

I can't replace the quantity of memory onboard.
But I can disable the on-board memory and add a new location from memory in the back of the laptop?

Hope you can help me...

I doubt that you can turn it off.
You can check if an option would be available in the BIOS, but to be honest I don t he thinks that s it.

To my knowledge, the entire motherboard must be replaced because as you have already said the internal memory is not removable!

It not his good buddy the replacement of the motherboard is always a costly affair.
Maybe you could get a second hand mobo. Check out some offers on ebay, etc.

Good luck

  • Satellite A60 question - seems to be a memory or a chart failure

My A60 will not start any OS. Start the laptop, the toshiba logo looks like a chart failure.
Then I choose a startup in safe mode or normal mode. But the purchase of the system starts, restart the portable computer.

In my view, it is a problem with the main memory, because I changed the hard drive with a win98 System displayed the message "not enough memory to start windows.

    I came only to non-graphique-mode.
In the bios, the memory is correctly stated.
Is there a solution for this problem?

    concerning

In my opinion, is graphic. If the Toshiba welcome screen does not appear as usual, there must be a problem with the graphics card. But the question is: what to do now? I'm afraid that the repair will be quite expensive.

Maybe you should offer it to eBay and take some money for him. Later, buy a new machine and be happy. Please let us know what you want to do now.

    Hi Jeroen,

I think that your problem is related to overheating rather than a defective display driver. The idea here is that it takes several attempts to reboot, giving the unit time to cool.
I suggest that you try to remove all dust and debris from your radiator and see if it improves the stability of your units.

You can download a copy of your display driver of: -.

    > I want to upgrade the ram and the new graphics card

Upgrading RAM is possible but the graphics card is unable to be updated!

If you want to upgrade the memory you could update to 1536 MB max.
The A60 supports 512MB internal memory and it is so that one memory slot where the extra RAM module can be inserted.

    These modules are compatible:
    PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)
    1024MO PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)

    Concerning

  • Satellite A60-672 has an internal memory that is immovable

NEBIE here with what is probably a stupid question.

I bought 1 GB of DDR Ram to upgrade the laptop above (which is currently a very limited 256 MB RAM) and removed the access memory based slot then... confusion.

This model has an internal memory that is immovable?
There is a black sticker on the memory, the levers to release the memory are blocked to other areas of the motherboard that makes me suspect that there is another angle.

If Yes, where is the actual expansion slot?

Sorry if this seems a bit thick!

    Hope you can help.

    > This model has an internal memory which is not removable?

Yes, the Satellite A60 supports a 256 MB internal memory and this memory may not be withdrawn. There is therefore only ONE slot of memory which is expandable.

So, you will be able to upgrade memory only to 1280MB

    See you soon

    HI Yves,

Unfortunately, if the BIOS update procedure does not work (or fill), then it is likely that the BIOS in the CMOS chip had been corrupt and without it, you will not be able to boot your laptop to fix the problem.

It will be necessary to bring (or send) your laptop to a repairer authorized to have reflashed BIOS.

    Kind regards

    Hello

Just FYI: Satellite A60 has 512 MB internal memory and a fool is only available for the upgrade. This unit can handle with max 1.5 GB of RAM. On the side down in the Middle, it is placed in the memory module cover. Remove it and you will find the RAM slot.

I think that the best way to find modules like PA3313S-1M1G is to google after them.

PA3313S-1M1G just type in google and you will find many shops online that will provide you with the necessary things. You can also search an other brands that are known to work correctly with as Kingston KTT or OZC Toshiba laptops.

  • Satellite A60 - memory increased

My Satellite A60 has 256 MB of memory and is vey slow these days. I removed several applications, but he healed partially the problem. I also defragment the hard drive. Could I need more memory?

Counsel would be appreciated - how get it and install it?

    Hi Charles,

Increasing your RAM will be an improvement, but only with applications that are particularly intensive memory. It is heavy graphics using games and utilities such as photo manipulation, video editing etc.

It is much more likely that your system is hampered by the excessive task that runs after your first commissioning. Check in your task for the background process manager how you running and how much resources they actually are using. For a typical installation of XP, I would expect that there is between 45-50 running processes.

Unless you have already done so I would recommend running a spyware (ADAWARE SE and SPYBOT S & D) utility that can be freely downloaded from the Internet, to see what presents itself.

I see that you have already defragmented your drive hard, which is great, but I highly recommend running the disk cleanup utility as well to get rid of all unnecessary clutter.

With regard to the RAM, I believe that the maximum that you can expand to 1280 Mb is, and I would recommend that you use Toshiba or RAM Kingston modules like these are tested to work with your laptop. I also used the modules of ORCA in my own laptop wuite successfully. Really, the choice is yours.

Information on the replacement of the RAM modules are usually contained in the manual of your users and should also provide details of the procedure to follow.

Is this possible and if so how much memory can I put in

    Mike hills

The brochure says that you can install a 1 GB module in the memory slot. There is only one slot, you can install memory.

So if there are 256MB onboard, you can increase the total 1.25 GB memory

    Hello

The link to this site memory Toshiba Satellite A60 may help you too:

    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=8333&ft=m&St=3

As mentioned, there is only one slot for expandable memory, and you might use the PC2700 200 pin SODIMM (333 Mhz) DDR modules.
Usually it s not matter what manufacture it is. Only memory specifications are important.

  • Question on the module memory for Satellite A60

I have a Satellite A60-352, and I was wondering if I can put my module memory of my laptop on my desk. And another thing, where I find the module in my cell phone because I'm not.

    Hello

The fact is that the A60 was equipped with an internal memory (256 MB or 512 MB).
This memory is not removable and so you only have one memory for an upgrade slot.
Usually the A60 manages the PC2100 200 pin SODIMM (266 MHz) DDR modules.
So, you can use the modules from different manufacturers that support the above specifications.
