Satellite A60: Overheating during running game

Hello

My beginning of A60 to overheating since yesterday. I read on this forum that this problem can occur when the fan is not working properly. However, the fan never stops and today I worked all day with Excel, IE, Outlook and a financial and accounting application and despite the heating have been abnormal it stop only when I tried to run a game (Age of Empires) and when I tried to clean the disc.

Is any possibility of problems with the RAM or the graphic representation.

Thanks for any light on the night in Lisbon.
Alex

I had the G505S for 2 days and have been using it to play Football Manager 2014. However twice during this period, he stopped because it has overheated. When I turn back the fan kicks in and a little heat serious out and dissipates after about 5 minutes.

I downloaded HWMonitor indicating approximately 90 c at idle, however the AMD Overdrive program reports about 42 c idling.

I just installed the latest updated BIOS and made the changes to this link (http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-prevent-your-laptop-from-overheating-windows-7/) recommended to reduce the CPU power to 98% to stop overclocking, but is there anything else I should do? Is the faulty laptop fan is not kicking in and out to try to cool down during the game?

    Hi Phil,

This is normal because the game is running and full GPU is used, if the temperature rises more than normal. I suggest to contact one of our authorized Service Center nearest you and make sure you use the laptop by placing it on a flat surface for proper ventilation.

  • Satellite A60 freezes when running on batteries

    Hello
I have a problem with my Satellite a60. I bought it a few months ago and he starts it freezes when running on batteries. I don't think it's a problem of software or memory. I did a few tests of memory...

It usually occurs only minutes after startup, the keyboard is not working, the screen freezes (but you can still see the immagine!) and only the exit ramp button works... but it happens sometimes... like once a week maybe... anyone else had similar problems?
    Thank you for any response,
    Radek

    Hi guys

It is very difficult to say what may be the problem. In my opinion, there are several reasons for this. In the boot process, there may be some conflicts with background programs and services or certain hardware components. May be overwhelmed with all this processor and simply give up.

If you wish, you can try to disable some startup items in the system configuration utility or disable certain hardware components not used in Device Manager. I don't know if this can solve your problem, but it will be interesting to know is there some success.

Radek did you have this problem if the laptop is connected to the power supply?

  • Satellite A60 - overheating and decommissioning

    Hello

As "[email protected]", I have similar problems with my Satellite A60.

After about 10 minutes of normal use on a hard, flat surface, the laptop starts to become very hot and turns off (obviously overheating). He started only when working with heavy editing workload, but is now it does all the time.

Is this a common fault with the A60? I've had mine for a little more than 12 months and had no probems, and now all of a sudden I can barely use the thing! (of course, it's just out of warranty)

Any suggestions would be very appreciated,

    Thank you very much

    Mike

    Hi Mike,.

That strangely resembles the typical issue of overheating that can infest the laptop users. Laptops use a metal matrix (similar to a car radiator) cooling to dissipate heat from the CPU when using, and if the airway through the matrix of the clogging of dust and debris, then a thermal trigger will be used to turn off the power to the laptop.

Air suction fans act like small vacuum cleaners and pull ambient air dust in the matrix where it gradually accumulates and blocks the air flow.

Try to use a hose of vacuum cleaner against the aspiration air grills to pick the accumulated debris. I do this with my laptop on a monthly basis.

    Kind regards

  • Re: Satellite A60 - overheating problem

    Hello

I have some difficulties to adjust temperature and fan on my Satellite A60.
The operating system is Debian and the fan operates at temperatures of 60-65 degrees Celsius (without any process started after the login).
I had installed utilities like toshutils, fancontrol, lm-sensors... but basically I have not found a solution for this:

    toshiba_acpi #modprobe
    Error: No such device

    Toshiba #modprobe
    Error: No such device

Now, I ask you advice, please.
If there are no alternative solutions, recompiling the kernel 2.6.24 (or other) is a solution to this problem? If the answer is 'Yes', how to prepare the package source?

Now the system works, but not very well at that latitude this question isn't a good prelude to my summer job.

    Best regards

    HM,

already checked the debian/gentoo/ubuntu forums? Or maybe freshmeat.net where toshutils all appear in their projects?

Unfortunately I can't tell you why the modprobe won´t work but don't you compiled the kernel option ACPI from toshiba? It must be something that controls the trough of explicitly from functions ACPI kernel using the userlevel tools.

By the way: have you read newspapers after trying the modprobe of the listed modules you´ve? Please make the modprobe more 'verbose', there may be something usable...

    Welcome them

  • Satellite L650-16w - cannot run game using the old GPU driver

first of all I had to say that my English is not very good, so if there is a German support it would be easier for me to write with German support.

2 weeks ago, I bought a new toshiba Satellite L650-16w.
After installing my favorite game, I'm trying to start this game, but I can't because of this error message: "3DGM gm_OpenGLError, param err error:"not enough memory"", last error win32 #8 "»

After that, I tried the latest driver and installed the driver version 8.723.2 on the home page of toshiba, the amd driver does not work, but the error is still there.
I tried many things but I wasn't able to run this game on my computer.
I'm sure it's a problem with the driver because when I uninstalled the drivers launched the game! (there was only the installed windows vga drivers).
Unfortunately, I had a low fps rate of relay with windows drivers, so I was unable to play this game without the pilots.

I hope someone can help me to launch this game and there is no solution to run this game on my pc.

My oem is windows 7 64 bit, and Yes this game still works on win 7 64 bit because I got to play this game on an another win 7 64 bit system.

    Hello

Usually, you should always use Toshiba driver because drivers are supported for GPU overheating protection.
If you want to use other drivers, then you can do this at your own risk.

I googled a bit and found two pages that provide updated ATI drivers the:
    www.OmegaDrivers.net/
    www.laptopvideo2go.com/

Perhaps one of the pilots of the mentioned pages would you play this game for sure.

  • Satellite A60 overheating - not possible to recover the operating system

    Hey there,

I'm almost certain I have a hardware problem with my Toshiba A60. Explorer.exe has stopped running, doing system restore helped for a while, but he just kept happening again. System Restore loses all its points of restore, safe mode did not help at all. I managed to back up everything and went to the Toshiba Recovery CD.

He managed to kill everything on my internal hard drive (or at least enough that it no longer starts), but effective recovery program only happens to about 12% then goes to a black screen, it's the same thing if I try to use expert mode on the recovery CD. Also, the laptop overheats a lot. I am so sure that it's a hardware problem.

In any case, according to the website my warranty expired 08/2005. I just wanted to know if there is any way I can contact Toshiba? Most of the companies at least listen to you if they sold you a product that overheats and breaks (even if he does that the expiration of the warranty).

Yet, it was the closest I could find on a "Contact us" page (other than the all-in-one phone number). Even if I can't get it fixed for free I wanted to know if there was any kind of paid service. Can I get any help? With the contacting Toshiba, I have not the strength to try something new with my laptop now that he can only boot from a CD and that done correctly.

    Thank you very much
    Andrew

    Hello

I contacted Toshiba service partner in my country if I had a problem with my laptop. I think you should also ask the authorized assistance service provider. Don t contact one of Toshiba because most of the time, go to the point service.

I found this link that will help you find the right provider in your country:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/Su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?PF=true

But if you laptop overheating then you should check the cooling modules, if there is no dust or / and debris. Especially books of overheating because the cooling modules will not twist correctly and the air circulation is compromised.

My laptop is exactly 3 years. It is still too hot for some games and now she doing that I keep having to deal with. I have a fan from under (extra fan) and it helps a lot. What can I do in addition to the dust of use under the laptop to try to clean it up? Or is my laptop any crash just because he's old? I use windows 7, that's what came with it. I need to know if I can do anythiong home to solve this problem, or do I need to take repair? Or is it just too late? When this happens to my pc is a strange gurgling noise and turns black. So I have to wait and hope, he returned to return to windows, but as of late is no longer the fact, so I end up having close myself which is dangerous (or so I thought it was)?

Finally if all this did not help

I ask you to ask a professional to change the cream on vents

You can do it yourself if you can when searching for a video disassembly of HP or a Guide for your model to know how to change

    * It is a difficult operation for someone with no experience in this area so if you feel that you can't, a professional will be much better than losing your laptop

    * do not forget what I said about changing the OS and drivers

  • Satellite A60: Can't play good games like the Sims 2

    Hello.
I have a satellite A60 and im having problems with my display driver.

I have the latest updates on everything, but I still can't play good games. Even the Sims 2 will slow down.

Idecided to a cooler on the ati chipset (like some toshiba models) but I can't seem to put on, although his decision-making in the right place.

    so my question is:
Why the video display is so slow? make my processor always on 99%
Why the chipset cooling fan does not work?

    Thank you

    Hey Buddy

I think you have misunderstood something. This issue has nothing to do with the version of the graphics driver you know?

AFAIK the A60 Sat came with an ATI graphics card that supports only 32-64 MB shared memory!
It is simply down to play new games with maximum performance!
The graphics card shared graphics memory for main memory and this reduces the amount of main memory.

Last but not least the CPU always runs with maximum performance during game!
The CPU is highly requested, play games or run other applications of high performance.
    Who is normal!

  • Satellite A500-026 overheats and stops during the game

Hey guys, any help would be appreciated.

My 026 has recently started to overheat and stopping at random during video games. I can't even run TF2 to learn more, then one hour unless he suddenly died on me. It is never used for this months of use.

I can assume there is a problem with my video card. I tried to download drivers to Toshibas site and the latest versions of Nvidia without change. I've already booked a Mobilecare service, I wanted to just evaluate what might be the possible problems.

    Hello

Maybe this problem of high temperature of s.
High temperature causes a closing down in order to protect the equipment against damage.
But the question is why the temperature increases to critical level?
One of the reasons could be a page nvidia graphics card driver. Such driver does contain protection against overheating. Therefore, use the driver of Toshiba page.
    I see that you did
Well, the laptop seems to be a new a .so usually dust should not be a problem and fans should work properly

A tip; Please make sure that you have enough free space around the laptop to ensure good air circulation.

However, I recommend asking an ASP in your country for verification may be what he s hardware related issue.

  • Some games do not work on a Satellite A60

I currently own a Satellite A60 with Mobile Radeon 7000 IGP, however some games if just bought don't work, they are not 'new games' its title as «Command and Conquer Generals»

You can up grade the graphics card in a laptop with those located on the open market, or do you need a special card?

Update graphics card is not possible because the graphics card is part of the motherboard. Unfortunately the upgrade options are not as good as on desktop computers.

  • Satellite P750 - overheating when using the graphics card

I have a Satellite P750. I have a few games that I love to play, but I am unable to because that laptop overheating during the execution of these games.

The specifications of the P750 with GeFORCE 540 m graphics card and 8 GB of ram easily meet the requirements of the games (Counter strike source, cod mw3).

While playing the games for about 10 minutes, all right.
After this step, things start to warm up, and small defects appear on the screen.

Small rectangles of messed up graphics.
If I don't leave the game immediately, I get a BSOD with errors such as "IRQL _less_than_or_Equal.

The vent on the left side of the laptop runs very hot when this happens.
I cleaned dust vacuum on and uses a fan/cooling pad to try to cool it.
    Makes no difference.

I updated to BIOS and graphics card drivers

WHAT CAN I DO TO PREVENT OVERHEATING WHEN YOU USE THE GFX CARD

Hmm using the page of the Toshiba driver graphics driver?
Such driver is a bit different from the other nVidia drivers because it s modified for mobile use. It contains some kind of overheating protection.
In case of higher temperatures of GPU, such driver would clock down GPU performance in order to increase the temperature of the GPU.

  • Satellite M60-162: problem gambling (game)

    Hello
I bought a Satellite M60-162 to use for work and a bit of entertainment (including games).
It happens that all types of game, I installed (Medal of honor, C & C Generals, Nba live 2005, MS Flight simulator 2004) breaks down when it is run (just click on 'play' and after a while, the game crashes). The installation program ends normally, but every game crashes.
The only game that works is 'The elder scrolls III - Morrowind '.
I have updated with patches - if available - all games without any profit.
I also updated the graphics (Ati mobility radeon 700) driver and installed the DirectX 9 .0c. Nothing has changed.
Finally, I ran a test for the graphics system (3D Mark 360) to check if there were hardware problems. All tests have passed.
I don't know what I could do to remedy this situation.
Thanks a lot for your help.

    Hello

Believe me it's not easy to say why it happens.
It could be a driver problem or a software problem (game). The only way to know why it happens is to test the device with different settings. Try using a lower screen resolution during the games. Try to change the game settings.

Windows XP performance settings that affect the visual appearance of the operating system, most of the games have buried in their menus of Options graphic settings. The trick is to find them.

I found a very useful and interesting article how to optimize the parameters of play for performance and looks. Please click the link:

  • Satellite A60 - memory increased

My Satellite A60 has 256 MB of memory and is vey slow these days. I removed several applications, but he healed partially the problem. I also defragment the hard drive. Could I need more memory?

Counsel would be appreciated - how get it and install it?

    Hi Charles,

Increasing your RAM will be an improvement, but only with applications that are particularly intensive memory. It is heavy graphics using games and utilities such as photo manipulation, video editing etc.

It is much more likely that your system is hampered by the excessive task that runs after your first commissioning. Check in your task for the background process manager how you running and how much resources they actually are using. For a typical installation of XP, I would expect that there is between 45-50 running processes.

Unless you have already done so I would recommend running a spyware (ADAWARE SE and SPYBOT S & D) utility that can be freely downloaded from the Internet, to see what presents itself.

I see that you have already defragmented your drive hard, which is great, but I highly recommend running the disk cleanup utility as well to get rid of all unnecessary clutter.

With regard to the RAM, I believe that the maximum that you can expand to 1280 Mb is, and I would recommend that you use Toshiba or RAM Kingston modules like these are tested to work with your laptop. I also used the modules of ORCA in my own laptop wuite successfully. Really, the choice is yours.

Information on the replacement of the RAM modules are usually contained in the manual of your users and should also provide details of the procedure to follow.

  • Constant rebooting with blue screen - Satellite A60 332

I have a Satellite A60-332 for topic a little more than two years now, recently, I noticed two major problems which I did not have time to run to the top:

    1. sometimes the laptop restarts just by itself for no reason. When I'm working, a blue screen with white text pops up for half a second and restart the system. Rarely another question occurs after that it will not restart but will be beep like crazy.

    2. I've had this problem since I bought my laptop; Sometimes the laptop won't play audio. What happens is after turning on the system; If the audio does not work: all the 'switches' in the volume control window will be present (wave, cd player, to the, telephone line, etc.). But sometimes when the audio does not work it just shows three switches, not more.

I've had these two problems for a while now, and I've reformatted my computer at least 5 times since I bought it, these problems never go away.

I also had another question; my hard drive is the 30 GB supplied with Toshiba. I tried to upgrade, but heard that most laptops, including Toshiba, have a hidden partition on the hard disk called a tatoo, that is when some of the system files are stored so that when you run the recovery discs, they function properly. Can anyone confirm this because, of course, is not a pull & pop work to install a new hard drive, because I won't be able to copy this tatoo.

Many thanks for any help in advance.

    Hello

1.) BSOD appears mainly due to the failure of the serious software or hardware failure. The laptop could also automatically stopped due to overheating. In this case, you should check your fans and clean if possible with the vacuum cleaner. But be careful. If it won't work not then test the operating system with the new installation of the OS. Perhaps a 3rd party software is a bad influence.
In addition, check if the device uses the latest version of the BIOS. If this is not the case, the update.

2.) don t know why this happens but maybe due to overheating mentioned.
However, you could try reinstalling the audio driver.

3.) sometimes laptops come with the Qosmio player or express media player. These players are installed on the hidden partition. I don t think that there could be another reason for hidden partitions.
