Satellite A660 - 14Q: Dead Pixel

Hello

I am a french and my English is very bad, I'm sorry.

I would like to know, if you know a solution for a dead pixel (pixel due to lack of type II). Is it possible to repair this pixel or not? My warranty is still valid, and Toshiba could fix this pixel? Or I could fix that pixel and it stays on my screen.

Thank you and I'm sorry for my English.

> I would like to know, if you know a solution for a dead pixel (pixel due to lack of type II). Is it possible to repair this pixel or not?

No, the dead pixels is not repairable.
Only a replacement display can help you, but the guarantee would cover only if your screen would show more dead pixels.

I googled a bit and found this Toshiba document:
* Information about the tolerance of failure of the technology and pixel of the screen for LCD screens *.

  • Satellite R630-13D: dead pixels and background noise

    Hello

I got my Satellite R630-13 t today about a week ago. I noticed that I have about 10 + dead pixels already - why? Is that what I can do to sort or should I send it back? I'm not particularly impressed by this when the laptop is barely served.

Also, I noticed that when I plug in my headphones there are noise white background if sound is enabled (or not music etc). I thought that this could be low for questionable helmet, but it happened with my two sets (both in decent enough ear phones.

If anyone has any advice on these issues that would be really appreciated.

I'm really enjoying this laptop, but these questions and the fan strong enough make me tempted to return it.

    Thank you very much

    Dear Sylvia

I recommend you contact your local dealer and explain the situation. He may be ready to help and share your laptop with a new one.

    Hello!

My Satellite M50 226 gets more and more Pixelerrors. First of all, he didn't. All of a sudden 2 or 3 dead Pixels one moment there are 3 News (6 more) Pixelerrors.

I have a Toshiba paper that says I have a warranty of Pixelerror 3. Where should I send the computer? Who do I call?
    AND: How long it takes?

    Kind regards
    Steffen Schreyer

Well, what to say the warranty could cover the replacement of the screen, but it depends on the amount of pixels and resolution.

Found several threads on the same topic. You will also find the official documents from Toshiba and statements on issues such as:

  • Satellite U500-10z - dead pixel

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite U500-10z comet.com, and while booting it I saw the brilliant green pixel.
I had the front stuck pixels, but they were weak, so I lived with them - but it is very bright and causes problems when you look at the movies/i-player.

I tried the unsticking of pixel programs, massaging him, tapping, pressing, everything - but nothing works.
I can do, and although I believe need toshiba 8 stuck pixels for a return, the comet will be kinder.

As well as the stuck pixel, there's a white bright light (think it is backlight problem) or an other pixel stuck.

    Any help/advice is welcome-thanks

    Hello

I doubt that the ASP will replace the display under warranty.
I found this FAQ from Toshiba:

Information about the tolerance of failure of the technology and pixel of the screen for LCD screens
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9502LZ0000R01.htm

The sum of dead pixel depends on the resolution of the screen.
So you will need 8 dead for a replacement using a resolution of 1400 x 1050 pixels.

But maybe the laptop dealer could replace Notepad ask the guy in the shop!

  • Dissatisfied (e) with the support of Toshiba due to dead pixel

Poetential beware buyers of Toshiba products. Toshiba offers very little support. All they do is try to weasel out of warranty repairs. After owning 14 computers laptop toshiba, for me and my company, I will never spend another dollar with Toshiba.

I have a custom P750. 10 days after receiving it, the motherboard fried. Instead of offering me a replacement unit, I had to wait several days for a box, mail it to the wide, wait for repairs and wait that they to return. I could not drop off at the local Toshiba repair shop. In fact, I could, but if I did, I would be responsible for the cost of repairs. I've no idea what logic there is for this, but there you go. After this test of three weeks, I finally got my machine.

Fast forward to this weekend. A pixel is grilled on my screen. My warranty is in 2 weeks. So to start the repair process. I'm amazed when the Lady informs me that Toshiba will not fix it. She says "we don't set the screens I have only pixel dead" and "a pixel does not affect the performance of the machine. Well forgive me, but of course it affects me looking at a black dot on my screen 24/7. I ask to speak to a supervisor, she put me on hold, comes back and tells me that she spoke with a "level 2 technician" who informed her that they wouldn't fix a screen with a pixel died. Again, I ask to speak to a supervisor, so she tells me that I will return a call.

An hour later, I get a call back from a "supervisor" who tells me that they will not set a screen with a dead pixel. I'm trying to explain to him, that pixel is the defective screen, and I want to fix under warranty. If I sell this machine, and someone asks me "Is there dead pixels?", I have to say Yes and lose money in the process. He still tells me "we don't set the screens for a pixel dead." While I try to explain which guarantees one is, he cuts me and told me he spoke with someone, and they determined that pixel is the result of physical damage and therefore not covered at all. ?!?!?

    Hi Poman

You know it's not easy to say anything on this subject because you're crazy enough now and I don t know if we discuss your problems on reasonable means.
I understand you and I think that I wouldn't be happy when my dear P500 Satellite had too dead pixel. As you already say it is very annoying to see it 24/7 on the screen.

Anyway, as you probably know support must follow certain rules and it's very sad if you have contacts with eager people. Please don t understand me wrong but perhaps your behavior on the phone was quite aggressive and on the other side people were completely non-professional.

In any case, this dead pixel problem is defined and how it works, you will find on the document from Toshiba:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9502LZ0000R02.htm

Below, you can find info on the other hand secured claim.

For 10 years I use Toshiba notebooks only and I can't tell how it works with other manufacturers but I n t think Sony or Samsung will give you new notebook due to pixel of a death. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don t think so.

    Bye and good luck

  • Re: Satellite A660 - 12 X - dead pixel on the screen and how to increase the sound?

Hello 3 days ago (20 July), I bought this laptop and I have 2 questions: I have a dead pixel (red color) on the LCD screen, I tried to use the java applet:
http://www.JScreenFix.com/applet.php?width=1366&height=768 to remove it, but to no avail. I looked at your table of replacemente lcd but it didn't understand because my resolution was not on it. So my question is: how many pixels I must have because I complain?

Another question, windows 7 permanently "think" my DVD player is a mountable/no mountable option, which means that I can take it apart like a USB pen... no doubt I am lack of pilots... but I don't know which ones that...

And another little question: How can I increase my sound on this laptop? I'm a little unhappy with the sound quality, my previous laptop (of the older generation) had a better sound quality...

Thank you for you time :=)

    Hello

    > So my question is: how many pixels I must have because I complain?

More than that, you can read under
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9502LZ0000R01.htm
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB5400ZD0002R01.htm

To determine the number of pixels, you can use a program like, dead pixel tester.

    > Another question, windows 7 permanently "think" that my DVD drive is a mountable/no mountable option

Perhaps, you must delete the upper/lower filters:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB7801XL0000R01.htm

    > And another small question: How can I increase my sound on this laptop?

If the sound at high volume settings and it is still not enough, there is nothing to do. of course, you can install the most powerful speakers or use external one. You should try to update a sound card driver, I doubt, however, it helps you to:

  • Can I repair the dead on Satellite Pro A100-662 pixels

    Hello

I just bought a satellite Pro has 100-622, but annoyingly while watching a DVD I have nototiced a pixel on the screen is of course a little faulty and turns green when, for example the rest of the screen in black. If this was not in the middle of the screen, it would be nice, but it's a little embarrassing to watch a movie when the actor on the screen has a green space in the middle of his forehead!

Can I do to solve the problem?
    Thank you
    John

    Hello

No, the dead pixels can be repaired. The only solution really is the replacement of the screen!
But the replacement of the screen depends on the amount of pixels!

Please check this Toshiba document for details:

  • Satellite 5100 - Question about dead pixels. Is - this really dead pixel problem?

    Hello

I've got Satellite 5100 603. There was a few pixels on the display. I don't know what is really dead pixel problem or not because the black area appears to be behind the screen. When I move the left and right sides, the black area move too much left and right (as if the black box is behind the pixels of the screen)! And I can say that all the pixels work OK when watching from the sides right and left of the screen (because the pixels that appears to be dead, changes in search of different angles).

Are there really dead pixels or is it another problem?
    Can I do about it?

FYI, I use my laptop for 2,5 years and there is no guarantee of course...

    Thanks for any help...

    Hello

Because of your description, it is not easy to give you a proper answer. On my old laptop, I had two dead pixels and it was easy to see the boot process. At the beginning, you can see home screen Toshiba and dead pixels are usually green (the background is black).

Sorry but there is nothing to do. You have to live with it because the display is very expensive.

    Hello
I have also this problem such as a freezing of the computer and the notification "driver Nvidia has stopped working". ". It's because of the display driver and we can nothing but just wait when Toshiba will broadcast a new, improved driver.
That it was a dead pixel, you can read about it here

It is for Lcd screens, but can also be applied to the display of the laptop

I had trobule with S-video use, there was a bad image, without collors.
Is there a chance that I can have my screen replaced?

    Im still under warranty.

    Hello

    Regarding the dead pixel:
    > Is there a chance that I can have my screen replaced?
I doubt that the screen would be replaced only due to a dead pixel.

Please check out this article from Toshiba. I found it in the page of knowledge base of Toshiba.

  • What HARD drive I can use on my Satellite A660-13D?

    Hello

I'm looking for any compatible for a Toshiba SATELLITE A660-13D hard disk drive as the one inside is dead now.

This model comes with the laptop is a TOSHIBA MK6465GSX 640 GB, SATA 3 Gb/second 5400 RPM 2.6 revision

Official suppliers of Toshiba quoted me 130 euros por the same model.

I can't have such model through any other store or the internet.

There are a lot of different new TOSHIBA HDD in the market with the largest capacity and much less expensive than the MK6465GSK.

Can I install any new toshiba HDD on my SATELLITE A660-13D?

Is there any toshiba page where I can find out what toshiba HARD drive are compatible with my SATELLITE?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Fernando

What you need is 2.5 SATA HDD and it may be Toshiba but it may also be of some other manufacturers. You don't need anything special. If possible consult your dealer and they can help you choose one that suits.

Now, when you need a new HARD drive maybe you should think about upgrading with SSD. Disc SSD is much faster and use of SSD with your laptop will rapidly increase the performance of s for laptop.

More info on SSD, you can read on http://storage.toshiba.eu/cms/en/index.html

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Dead Pixel 6s iPhone 16GB

I got my iPhone at the end of May.

I had to restore my iPhone and connect it to another computer, because when I tried to transfer my music to a new laptop, he stated that it could not be established with two different iTunes.

After putting my iPhone in about a week, he now has a pixel on the screen it is on the upper left side, but kind of more in the Middle, not under the name of carrier. There is also a blackish research brand. I don't know if it is also a pixel or something else.

It is not on a screen protector I've ever had a still.

On any page of safari or white page on the iPhone, it is clear and hard to miss the black mark and if you look carefully at the tiny pixel.

I have never dropped my phone and kept in excellent condition.

Apple will replace my iPhone? I have the Apple Care 1 year warranty.

The iPhone was bought directly from online from Apple for $1006 site, I didn't buy Apple Care +.

Will Apple Replace this screen for a price of replacing it for free?

    Thank you

Dead pixels are covered by the warranty. Take your phone to an Apple Store and they will test it. I had an iPad replaced for free as collateral because of dead pixels.

  • Satellite A660 3rd party WLAN does not work

    Hello

I had a problem with my WLAN adapter so I used to replace.
Currently, I have installed card Broadcom Dell Wireless 1397.
It has been defined by Device Manager and drivers have been installed.
But it is impossible to turn on the WLAN.
When I click the buttons activate WLAN, it just back to the OFF position.
    I also use Windows 10.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

I own Satellite A660 - 16 M. Initially, it was equipped with Broadcom BCM4318 WLAN card. I decided to replace it with an Intel Centrino N-6230 dual band with 3.1 Bluetooth card. Replacement process was fairly easy, the problem was to make the new card working group. I use Windows 10 as an upgrade to Windows 7 Home. As you can imagine that the utility flash cards stopped working after the upgrade of the system, but Windows 10 has managed to cope with BCM4318 since the original drivers and Windows 7 registry entries have been always working in the background. The WLAN button above the keyboard worked, was so orange the LED in the front of the laptop.

Situation changed completely with the new Intel Centrino 6230 N WLAN card. Despite he properly recognized by device with all the necessary drivers automatically responsible manager, I was unable to have the WLAN button and the LED orange work which is to turn on the radio (the card WLAN itself, its possibilities of wifi). The weird part is that the Bluetooth worked without any problems.

The solution was to put a small piece of electrical tape on the 20 PIN of the new WLAN card to prevent WLAN DISABLE State presented to the motherboard. So RADIO WLAN is always on, so Windows 10 own wifi tools were able to switch on the WIFI network and... I see now all (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) wireless networks. Of course the WLAN button and the orange LED still haven't work (it seems that it is somehow hardcoded to support only the original BCM4318) but I don't love about it. The most important is that I'm now a lot more capable wireless network inside my laptop card.

I hope that the solution above works in your case, 8stack. Watch the attached files to see what she looked like, as in my case.

    Best
