  It's not easy to say what causes this but you should check different things;

  (1) reinstall the OS. Dirty registry entries affect the OS eth feature
  (2) clean OS using CCleaner
  (3) check the bars of memory. Run the test using a tool like memtest86 + or similar
  (4) check the HARD disk. You can use Drive Fitness Test, which is free.
  (5) update BIOS and other pilots like graphics card driver

  I like my windows costs. I do not have programs that I don't really need. I tried to uninstall some of them, but they always leave unexpected pieces behind them. So is there a way to stop the factory reset on A660 before installing drivers and other software. So I can install the readers updated and the programs I want to.

  My Tosh Satellite A660 - 11 M PSAW3E (Windows 7 Ultimate) was working fine until I installed the MS security updates March 2012, which included the updated for Microsoft Office Pro 2007.   The blinking cursor appears in the upper left corner indicates a malfunction or memory from HDD. I think you should check both sides.

  You said that the drive works fine in another PC. Do you hear the HARD drive?
  If so, then the HARD drive is OK and the RAM is probably the troublemaker.

  Therefore, I doubt that installation of the OS would be covered by the warranty.

  Remove the webcam driver and restart your computer, run CCleaner (freeware tool) to clean and fix registry problems and reboot once again. Then visit the official page of Toshiba and and download the new driver of the webcam for your model and the OS.

  Normally after the next reboot the webcam should start working with success.
