Satellite A660 crashes incoherently at startup

After 1 year my A660 (PSAW3A-07R00R) has started to behave erratically at startup.

Sometimes, nothing whatsoever happens, sometimes the display "Toshiba Innovation" and then nothing, I sometimes it starts Windows with a blank gray screen (I can tell because I heard the Skype audio prompt), sometimes it starts normally.

Often, it takes three attempts before I get a good start.
Everyone knows a similar fate?

Hello

I guess that you can not reproduce this problem. Right?
It happens sometimes and that's why it of difficult to say what's wrong here.

I would exclude a software problem because if it would be a software problem, the laptop must always be able to pass the POST (power on self test) properly and the Toshiba start screen must always be visible
So I guess that something goes wrong with the material

Possibly display begins to breakdowns, but not quite sure about that
Of course, you can try to check this using an external monitor, if nothing is visible on the internal display, connect the external monitor and check if something would be visible here

My Tosh Satellite A660 - 11 M PSAW3E (Windows 7 Ultimate) was working fine until I installed the MS security updates March 2012, which included the updated for Microsoft Office Pro 2007. After installation, he immediately started crash shortly after starting upwards and the Action Center kept saying that he did not have a new power driver.

I used the system restore to restore to the rear for just before the updates and which seem to help - the Action Center, said he has no problems - and the system seems to be OK. Some of MS Mar 2012 resettled and returned crash problem updates.

I used the system restore again to return to the State of pre update. However, despite his return to the State to update pre and manually uninstall the Office 2007 Pro update, my A660 continues to suddenly crash at intervals frequent, but different - sometimes, it's OK for an hour or 2 and other times it crashes within minutes of boot upward.

Ideas and help would be very welcome because I am pulling my hair over this.

    Hello

Have you tried the HARD drive recovery process or have you tried to restore the system using the recovery disk?
    Do this!
I can't believe that you can not use some MS updates because of this problem

I have problem with my Toshiba Satellite A660. Sometimes when I play it freezes and I can't even move the pointer that all freeze them then I have to stop with force.
Once it freezes during a restore and that what do me worried about would be a secondary problem (amount of money).
I tried to take it to one that he calls himself a Toshiba service company and they told me that the problem is solved, but he didn't.

So I hope that everything would be help me I m in a bad situation here.

    Hello

I understand your situation but to be honest, I put t know how to help you.
I put t know what that solved the service and what they did with your laptop, but what you can do is to install the OS by using the recovery image (on DVD or HARD drive) and to monitor closely what will happen in the future.

While gaming, don't forget your laptop is placed on the desk and the cooling fans should not be stuck with a few Pater, books or anything else. before you start the game go portable high performance power plan and check that cooling in this plan of the power method is set to the maximum level.

  • Satellite U - crashes during windows startup and restore cannot fix

Most of the time, but not whenever the laptop hangs when starting windows.
I get a blue screen, a dump file is created and then it restarts and gives me the ability to start windows normally or by using windows recovery. The windows recovery can not solve the problem.

When I select the option to open windows normally everything works fine without any problems.

If I restart the laptop, it will never block.
The problem happens about 90% of the time when he walks.

The problem started shortly after the purchase of the laptop in October.
Initially, it came with Windows Vista and I was wondering if the problem was with Vista so steeple I've upgraded to Windows 7, but it always freezes on most start-ups. Otherwise, the laptop works very well and I'm happy with it.

I suspect that the problem might be with Realtek, but pilots seem to be up to date. My internet security is trend micro.

I was wondering if it might be a hardware problem, when this happens on Vista and windows 7.

Someone has any ideas on what could be causing the laptop to crash at startup?

    Hello

To be honest, if this problem occurs on the version of Vista and Windows 7 too that sounds like a hardware problem and it s time for an authorized service provider. Technicians can check your laptop fix it. It of fairly new, so I guess that it s still under warranty and the repair is free.

Here, you can get the closest authorized service provider:

Hi, I hope someone can help me.

Portable Satellite L655D age of 18 months of my daughter began to hang on the black 'starting windows' screen, when it stays until it turns off after several minutes. I didn't spend this stage for several days, and the machine seems completely unusable.

I then turn off by pressing the power button for a few seconds, I can then select F12 with the option to start in safe mode, but the laptop never makes it in safemode, it real just data on a screen black for a few seconds and then it crashes with the message "Please wait".

Others that look, I'm not able to go beyond these screens.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Darren

    Hello

Did you create a recovery disk?
In this case, you could use this drive in order to reinstall windows on the laptop system.

Another possibility is to drive HARD recovery. Press the power button, F8 and choose fix my computer. Now choose HARD drive recovery.

I hope that you can do this

  • Satellite A660-155 freezes and needs of startup repair or does not start

Hello, in the middle of the month of August, I bought a satellite a660-155, PSAW0E-00U00DEN S/N 5A214647K.
It is registered under warranty until the Aug2011.
After less than a week, it refused to start.
I rang support and they recommended that I use the recovery discs to restore to factory condition. I did and spent the next 3 nights reload software and my backup disk data.

Since then he refuses sometimes to start the hard drive with a relative error that it cannot rfind and then ask which drive to boot from. If I select the hard drive, it starts later. Sometimes when running he crashes and then restarts.

Last night, after that it had not been used for a few days, I woke up he "sleep" mode. I logged on okay, but then the blue logo 'circly' comes on, spinning away happily, and nothing else (just for logging on the text). After 30 minutes, I pressed the power button to turn off because the cell phone was totally insensitive.
On commissioning, I got a white screen for 30 minutes, then the Startup Repair option.
I launched it and check start lasted almost an hour and an hour, then he said, trying to repair. After a few hours, I left and went to bed. This morning, he showed the guest of logon and connected properly, as if nothing had ever happened.

I lost confidence in Toshiba laptops, (I am responsible for computer SCIENCE) and I've never seen this problem before on a so-called quality machine. I only ise it fot simple e-mail/internet/word documents.

All I can conclude is that there is little material defective (hard drive) that stops responding intermittently.

I sent support at 07:00 this morning, but have not had a response.

Can you help me? This machine needs ideally replace or repair collection, back in working condition 100% reliable. Could someone please contact me to see where I go from here?
Under the law of consumption, you have a duty to rectify my sad situation, that the flaw exists again.

    Thank you

    Thanks for the info!
Seems to replace the HARD drive would solve!

  • Satellite A660 - wen of video streaming VGA driver crash

Satellite A660 - my computer hangs and the VGA driver crashes and then recovers when I watch Youtube or any other streaming site. I think that there is a problem with VGA drivers. I have Windows 7 64 bit. Rarely, windows get completely frozen and must be started cold.

    Friends of ideas?

    Hey,.

Yes, sometimes I read on these issues here in the forum, but the solution is simply: update the display driver!

You can download the latest drivers for your laptop from Toshiba's official website:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

But before installing the latest version I recommend to remove the old first and restart your laptop. Then you install the most recent.

    I hope it works :)

  • Satellite A660-1CJ - 8.1 Windows crashes - BSOD bridge.sys

    Hello

I have a Satelite A660-1CJ, running Windows 8.1 and he already broke 5 times with a BSOD:
    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (bridge.sys)

    What can I do?

    Hello

It seems that the bridge.sys is causing the BSOD.
Bridge.sys is a Windows system component.

Toshiba says that the Windows 8.1 is not supported on Satellite A660 series.
    What does that mean?
This means that Windows 8.1 drivers are not released by Toshiba.

I assume that you have installed drivers in your own hand and probably one of the drivers causing the BSOD.

  • Satellite A660 - 10 X sometimes won't start - screen black startup

    Hello

_sometimes_ my Satellite A660-10 x (PSAW3E) usually start.
I turn it on, you hear the fan coming, on the screen, you see a blinking cursor on the screen in the top left, it kind of more climbs to left and top over in the corner and stops. Nothing happens, after a while, I turn off the laptop.
If I do this 3 - 5 times then it starts. Sometimes it starts on the first attempt.

    What I tried:
Reinstall the PC since the partition of drive with Win7
Out of HARD drive in my desktop PC and CHKDSC running with analysis and correct errors.
Cleaning of all the PC of dust, fans etc.
    Pulling out / in battery/AC
    Check the memory (RAM)
Processor power management change the State of the minimum 5% to 100% CPU

I understand PC, but this day have no idea what can cause this. The only thing that comes to mind is that the partition at the beginning of the disk contains errors that I can't reach because there a boot partition, partition original installation and the rest which is the only one, I can not reach with CHKDSC.
I heard someone tried changing battery of motherboard (small round), it can it be?

It doesn't seem to be the disc or the problem of the LCD screen, or RAM memory.

    > I turn it on, you hear the fan coming, on the screen, you see a blinking cursor on the screen in the top left, it kind of more climbs to left and top over in the corner and stops. Nothing happens, after a while, I turn off the laptop.

Cursor blinking in the upper left is a well-known landmark and could be related to defective RAM or HARD disk memory problems.

Verification of memory could be carried out, and in my experience, these controls provide memory about the correct results. But even if verification of memory would not find any problem of RAM, it could still be a nuisance RAM.

Of course, I can't say with certainty, if his RAM related question or maybe its related to other defective part.
Fact is that this problem is caused by problems of material and in the worst case that the motherboard needs to be replaced.

  • Satellite A660 BIOS - crash down

I have a problem with my Satellite A660 new... (I bought it in September 2010). The problem is the BIOS has failed to start, the monitor is still black and memory not working anymore... If I turn off and restart to turned on again and then after several times the BIOS starts and Windows7. But suddenly the system breaks down and when I try to restart the original problem reappears...

If anyone has had the same problem before please answer me what should I do now... I really appreciate it. Anyone know if it is a hardware problem or a software problem...

    Thanks, Bye

    Hello Ardo

My advice to you is to contact Toshiba service as soon as possible. You bought the new product with a warranty and it should work. Describes problems sounds quite serious and you should not waste your time waiting for tips.

Be honest, what can you do about it? Not much. You can try to reinstall OS, play with block power (start without battery, test with AC adapter only) remove the memory and check this yet, but in general, I put t think this will help.

Contact the service and let them check your laptop.
Do you know how to find the service provider authorized in your country?

  • Satellite A660 - Windows 7 startup problem

Hi, I have I think the biggest problem I have ever had. I have the Toshiba Satellite A660. I have Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit (just to know.) Computer laptop freezed so I pressed to shutdown (stop) to close.

Then I tried to start it but I saw only "starting Windows" for more than an hour... When I tried to use the repair disk I saw the Green loading bar only (such as loading windows XP) but nothing happened again. So I tried to use the installation disc, but I get a "windows start" and nothing happened, even with a USB tip.

    Could someone help me?
    Thanks for all the posts.

I understand that your computer was working and running W7 64 bit.
You can or you looked in the BIOS? I don't know what you can view/change but is the HDD displayed and if memory is reported?
If you use the drive of W7 or reinstall to start the computer drive can you get to the screen install Windows and select "repair your computer". If you do not see this screen, you will need to make sure that the DVD or USB is the first boot device.

Return to this stage for more ideas or google for something like "windows command prompt repair 7.

  • Satellite A660 - 11 M: regular crashes, sometimes even before the BIOS...

    Hello

    A month ago I bought a Satellite A660 - 11 M.
I set up a dual-boot windows 7 / ubuntu 10.04 and I have lived several times a complete freeze of the system under the two BONES. In addition, after a freeze of the laptop is really difficult to restart: it freezes usually several times in a row, and most of the time there is no display at all (I don't even see lines of BIOS, or the toshiba logo).

I read several threads with the same diagnosis, and it seems to be likely to be from the power adapter.
Is there a way to be sure that it comes from him, and if so what can I do about it? If I send my computer in warranty, what are the chances that this problem is solved?

    Thank you for your response.
    Best,

    pico770

On this path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here and what can be the reason of such behaviour of the laptop. What you need is verification by computer diagnosis and appropriate. This can only be done by the service.
    >... What are the chances that this problem is solved?
Before your laptop will be sent in return it must be tested and if everything is OK you will get it again.
Some default material, the part will be exchanged, portable will be tested again so that this problem needs to be solved.

  • Satellite A660-1FH fails to back off with Win7 64-bit

Hi, a friend of mine asked me to watch his Satellite A660-1FH (PSAW3E). It is currently running windows 7 64 bit. There initially could not activate so I said I'd take a peek.

It just would not start the power on, it would go beyond the initial screen then cursor would appear at the top on the left and flash a couple of times and freeze. I started and you press f2 to view the bios and the HARD drive was top of the list so I pressed f10 and saved and started. starts fine then he thought may have been an accident that has caused and continues in windows and update for him.
then rebooted and froze! It seems when the restart is selected, it does not restart, everything freezes.

I tried to use hirens resumed but it cannot see the HARD drive when it is started! weird. I got in the car and he ghosts for safety.

Earlier I installed 8 company windows x 64, and it presents the same question. the drive works fine in other pc so you need another piece of equipment. I had already updated the BIOS under win7 and checked all drivers.

I just got a strange win8 startup message saying that a boot or partition file was missing and could not start but him repressing the power button, it starts well.

It does not always restart under a clean install of win8. I came here because I found a post with the same or similar issue. Any suggestions? Thanks Mark

    > it just would not start the power on, it would go beyond the initial screen then cursor appears at the top on the left and flash a couple of times and freeze

The blinking cursor appears in the upper left corner indicates a malfunction or memory from HDD. I think you should check both sides.

You said that the drive works fine in another PC. Do you hear the HARD drive?
If so, then the HARD drive is OK and the RAM is probably the troublemaker.

  • Satellite A660 - do not find external DVD drive

Hey guys. Newbie displaying in total despair of and needing help! I posted in other forums without success. I bought a Samsung SH-D162D DVD drive in a USB enclosure to connect to my Satellite A660 via USB.

I can't get Windows 7 to find! When I plug in the USB cable, the ball comes up to say that it has been installed (sometimes), I can see it on for about 1 or 2 minutes then he falls. It is not listed in my hardware or anything. Its not found in disk management or my devices, so it is not a case to change the drive letter - I can't find the drive to change. I also tried to find upper and lower settings in regedit. Could not find them so couldn't remove them as suggested in other posts of this nature.

It is set to master, the IDE connector and power connectors are very good. Its got to be a cause of problem of Windows 7 it comes very briefly. In the minute or 2 sound, I can't do anything with it. It crashes right although it will open and close. I've google it and can't find anything. Mainly of registry issues, but they did not help.

Ive also connected to another laptop with XP and had no problems so I know the DVD Rom works very well and all the cables are ok. Ive tried all 4 USB ports on my laptop and also disabled all the parameters of energy. All with no luck. And I also all Windows 7 update.

This is exactly what happens to the power out of the Cabinet.

    1. I connect the USB cord then turn on the enclosure.
2 - I quickly click Start, and I can see the DVD Rom E player beside my computer laptop dvd rom.
3 - the green bar above starts to fill to the top, from left to right and gets to half way then suddenly disappears icon of DVD Rom and makes the green bar.
    4. He then flashes up in computers laptops DVD Rom icon with a player of Local E drive, but only for a fraction of a second.
    5. sometimes a balloon comes up saying peripheral installation, then the installed device successfully... but not every time.

And that's all. I'm at a total loss and the cant work, so any help is really appreciated!

    Hi Smee,

So if you have already connected the external hard drive on another computer, and it worked correctly, it seems to be a driver or compatibility between your external DVD drive problem and and your Satellite A660

It will be connected to the port USB then you tried to remove all the USB ports on the Device Manager? After that, you must restart your computer and the USB ports will be recognized automatically from the Device Manager. In addition, I would also try updating the chipset driver. New version, which you can download on the official website of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Have you also tested other devices on your A660 if they work properly?

  • Satellite A660-18 suspended and needs hard reboot

My Satellite A660-18 crashes every two days about 2/3 times. I can't press ctrl + alt + del and the mouse does not move. I pressed the power button to restart manually. It started about two weeks after I got it in September. I watch a lot of videos online (and offline) and usually after the screen freezes / crashes, audio continues and extends. I thought that it was a problem with IE8, so I switched to Google Chrome, but it still continues. This occurs also in offline mode. Also, after my laptop crashes, the fan speeds up so I thought it was an overheating issue. I bought a carpet of cooling a few days ago, and the system still hangs. I don't know what to do now, can anyone help?

    4.00 GB ram
    64-bit operating system
    Windows 7
NVIDIA Geforce 310 M 512 MB dedicated video memory

    Hello

    It's not easy to say what causes this but you should check different things;

    (1) reinstall the OS. Dirty registry entries affect the OS eth feature
    (2) clean OS using CCleaner
    (3) check the bars of memory. Run the test using a tool like memtest86 + or similar
    (4) check the HARD disk. You can use Drive Fitness Test, which is free.
    (5) update BIOS and other pilots like graphics card driver

    Good luck
