Satellite A665 - overheating and speedfan time

so my laptop is a toshiba a665-06f (Canadian model) which I bought from future shop, here is a link to the plug to laptop
http://209.167.114.38/support/TechSupport/productcontents/satellite/PSAW3C-06F017.htm

Since I bought the thing it's always hot, sometimes it would be closed at random (what I know now because it was over heating) didn't think much of him, but then when some games would drop fps unplayable rates I look a little closer and ran a few tests of temperature and I've been extremely surprised/worried to what I saw. I also used a laptop cooler that has 2 fans on the subject, but which does practically nothing. I'll post photos of Speedfan so that you guys can see what I'm talking about

This first picture is about 2 minutes after that the laptop started well, it's a start-up costs and no program running (the laptop had been sitting off the coast during the night)

on this picture you can see that after 5 minutes with nothing else that speedfan run times have exceded 50 ° C

in the past only through normal conditions of use and the games, I saw temperatures between 90 c + and so I decided to perform a stress test and of course the time broke 90 c, I used the first 95 the stress tester. picture 1 is about 30 seconds in the test, photo 2 is after 10 minutes and photo 3 is a chart showing the increase in temperature and fluctuations over time

This has been a problem since I bought this thing about 6 months ago, I have since updated the bios and all drivers for current versions and nothing did, im starting to wish I never bought this because these temperatures cannot be set, the processor will underclock itself .9ghz I saw it several times and most of the games became unplayable even with the smaller settings.

If you think you have a solution please help im all ears, I don't even really this notebook, I saw the temp over 100 ° c before and I can not take any where without the cooler, might as well be a desktop computer, I wish I could get a refund even

As I see see you as a serious matter, so in my opinion, you should contact Toshiba service provider at the nearest Canada and ask for help.

It's OK to discuss this topic on the forum but you can read here are opinions or advice how to change some of the parameters of power. I doubt that this will help you contact Toshiba and ask what you can do about it.

  • Satellite A200 - overheating all the time

    Hi y ' All

I have a satellite A200 laptop computer that keeps overheating all the time.
I tried to do the thing of compressed air and she always does.
    Especially when am games online.
I've had this laptop for about a year now, and it already has an accident and burn on me and everything lost hard disk.
But this overheating is really annoying me.
I still have the clear fan so that it still works ok.
And there is no dust or dirt there either.
Can someone tell me what could be the problem?
And also I would like to know how I can format it so, it doesn't let me do.

Any suggestions would be appreciated muchly

    See you soon

    Wolfette.

Do you use the certified Toshiba graphics card driver?
You should do this in order to ensure that the graphics card would not overheat.
The driver of Toshiba GPU supports protection against overheating and control the dissipation of the heat created by the graphics chip.

But if you already use the Toshiba drivers, then the problem could be more complicated.
In this case, the laptop must be verified by technician ASP.

Maybe the thermal grease that is placed between the CPU and the GPU must be renewed.
At the time the thermal fold becomes dry and rough and cannot conduct heat well.

    In many cases, it helps.

Last but not least, you must use the Toshiba certified graphics card driver because this driver supports protection against overheating and the dissipation of the heat created by the GPU of the controls.
You must also make sure that the laptop is on the table and that there is enough free space around the laptop to ensure good air circulation.

  • Satellite A300D - overheating and shutdown

    Hello

I have a problem with my 3 month old Toshiba Satellite A300D-126. Any time I play a game like Call of Duty 4 or Warcraft after like 15-20 min, the left side of the laptop where the cooler is placed, it is overheating, almost too hot to the touch, and finally the laptop stops.

I have to mention the fact that, recently, I installed XP (all the drivers downloaded from the Toshiba site), but I somewhat had the same problems on Vista also.

I downloaded MobileMeter, and temperatures have shown here I think that they are not normal:
Temp - HDD-35-36 degrees C and 80-85 C (when I m only not with the games, so I think that during the Games time. significantly increase)

Is it possible that the cooler can deal with games, and it is dusty? If so, how do I to clean?

    Allows any kind of response,

    Thank you

    Hello

I play call of Duty 4 on Satellite A300-1LI and so far everything is fine. Okay that's the different hardware platform, but I still believe that there should be no difference.

I think CPU temperature is perhaps greater than usual but, in my opinion, not the critical level. The normal temperature of the hard drive and the same as on my Satellite A300.
I don't know how you use your laptop, but it is the new model of laptop and I don't think that there is so much dust inside. If the laptop is placed on the desk, try putting back on two CD boxes and place it on the top position. Reduce graphics settings in the game and check again.

Is the method of cooling energy savings of Toshiba to the maximum level?

  • Satellite C660 - overheating and decommissioning

I have a computer laptop satellite C660 and in recent weeks it has been overheating and switching of. The fan and the heat sink is free of dirt and I bought and installed a new processor, but the problem persists. Actually the only way I can get the machine to run must go into the BIOS and run it in a slower mode which is unacceptable for a normal performance. I think I may have one problem material but another CPU change don't know what to try next.

I can provide details if someone need help and I thank everyone in advance for any advice they are able to provide.
    Concerning

    Hello
do you have a thermal past when you installed the new processor?
No idea on this model but have you check if any other component (for example the video gpu) add thermal paste on him?
You use the laptop on a solid surface to allow the bottom of the laptop breathe properly for better cooling?
I know some pretty stupid questions, but is just a double check.

  • Satellite A60 - overheating and decommissioning

    Hello

As "[email protected]", I have similar problems with my Satellite A60.

After about 10 minutes of normal use on a hard, flat surface, the laptop starts to become very hot and turns off (obviously overheating). He started only when working with heavy editing workload, but is now it does all the time.

Is this a common fault with the A60? I've had mine for a little more than 12 months and had no probems, and now all of a sudden I can barely use the thing! (of course, it's just out of warranty)

Any suggestions would be very appreciated,

    Thank you very much

    Mike

    Hi Mike,.

That strangely resembles the typical issue of overheating that can infest the laptop users. Laptops use a metal matrix (similar to a car radiator) cooling to dissipate heat from the CPU when using, and if the airway through the matrix of the clogging of dust and debris, then a thermal trigger will be used to turn off the power to the laptop.

Air suction fans act like small vacuum cleaners and pull ambient air dust in the matrix where it gradually accumulates and blocks the air flow.

Try to use a hose of vacuum cleaner against the aspiration air grills to pick the accumulated debris. I do this with my laptop on a monthly basis.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A100-534 and Speedfan

    I noticed my 1-year-old A100 (534 - Intel Celeron M 1.5) have warm enough so I installed Speedfan to read temperature. Speedfan Hdd = 44 c and temp1 varies between 55 and 100 C!

At the time that as I type this post he says 99 C. What is the actual temperature of the CPU or is it a misreading?

    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

    P.S., Speedfan now says 101 c

I use notebook hardware control too and it will be interesting to know what processor temperature and the HARD disk will be shown here.

In my case CPU is about permanent HDD about 40 ° C and 60 c.

  • Satellite A300 - overheating and sudden death

Hey there! So the problem with the sudden closing of my laptop has bothered me for the last 6 months. I did not understand why it happened. But now, I think I can.

As soon as I start watching movies or high quality youtube and if I do this as 20 minutes, the laptop can crush! Only, it gets really hot, and there is nothing I can do about it. However, if I put a fan beside her, she will continue to work normally. Otherwise > overheat and BOOM! : D

Is this a known issue? Is it the same for other portable series? Thank you.

You can imagine how irritating it is for a child of eleven years!

    Hello

You wrote that your laptop is already a year old, so you cleaned the laptop yet? So I can recommend jet of compressed air that can blow in the form of dust from the cooling fans.

  • Charging battery light stays orange on Satellite A665/012

    I have a * Toshiba Satellite A665 / 012 * and do anything, the battery light load rest * {color: #000000} orange / orange {color} * and not green.
It works and it appears that he was accused of 100% if something is certainly wrong.

    Can anyone help

    Hello

Calibrate you the battery in the past?
Do this! It would improve the performance of the battery and battery working time.

You will need to you completely discharge the battery until it is completely empty.
Then charge the battery again. Repeat several times.
I think that 3 to 4 times would be enough.

After that check if the battery is expected to reach 100% and if the led would turn to green.

  • Satellite A665 - 13W WIFI slow when activated Bluetooth

I have hit a problem with WIFI performance and need help to find the solution.

I have Satellite A665-13W with wireless Broadcom 802.11n network adapter and use the latest BIOS and drivers (for Broadcom is version 5.60.48.35). The laptop connects to my router and can reach network high speed, but then long time ago when there is no flow of data over network connections. These shortcomings last several seconds and occure probably 3 times per minute. This makes services like Skype unusable because for a while, I have good network connection, allowing you to make a video call even but quality then connection drops less than 1 Mbps (in fact hold) so even audio is not working and call either disconnects or connection back to full speed for about 10 seconds until what the quality decreases again.

I tried different routers (802. 11 g, and 802.11n) and the problem persists. I tried to measure the performance of data transfer on LAN and found that the problem is not only related to my internet connection. I have tried other laptops and their connection works fine, so the problem lies in the Satellite A665-13W and its wireless adapter. In the end, I found that the problem is related to activated Bluetooth which is necessary for the connection of a wireless mouse.

If bluetooth is disabled the WIFI performance is good and there is no delay in the transfer of data.
If bluetooth is enabled (but no bluetooth device is connected or prominent) WIFI performance is severely degraded. Performance degradation is some expected when Bluetooth is used, but what is not acceptable, it is that no data shall not be transferred for a period of several seconds and even in the case where no bluetooth device is actually connected.

My other laptop (Asus, Lenovo) do not have such a problem and can transfer data via WIFI streaming even if the Bluetooth mouse is connected to them and used. So it's clear the Toshiba laptop to malfunction.

I tried to deactivate the energy saving network adapter wireless, but with no impact on performance.

Is there a newer driver that can solve the problem? I can't solve the problem of some network card settings? Network card can be replaced to solve the problem (for laptop is under warranty)?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Best regards
    Jakub

    Hello

    > Is there a newer driver that can solve the problem?
Well, I can't say with certainty if the driver update should solve your problem, but I think that it s worth a try. You should try to update the driver WLAN and Bluetooth. You can find updates on the following pages:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/Bluetooth/
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

Also define the power WLAN mode for each profile of saving power for maximum performance which is not power save.

  • USB drive not readable on the Satellite A665-13W

    Hello

I have the following problem. I have Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 64 GB (USB 3.0) by car and it is perfectly readable on other PCs without worrying if I connect it to the USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports.

The device is detected in Windows 7 64-bit on Toshiba Satellite A665-13W and I see it in Device Manager. He invites me to open the disk E: (NTFS volume), but it looks empty when I open it in Explorer Windows with a certain delay when Explorer seems to scan drive.

I see some errors in the event viewer such as:
Event ID 11: driver has detected an error in the controller on \Device\Harddisk1\DR2

But when I connect for example Patriot 8 GB USB drive it works without problem. When I boot Windows 7 in safe mode, the Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 64 GB drive is connected, and I can read it.

What should I do to make it readable without going into safe mode?

I have the latest BIOS 2.30, I tried to enable/disable USB legacy support, I tried the fast/normal startup, I tried to install the latest Intel Chipset drivers, I tried all USB ports, including one that can be used as eSATA port, but without success. I also uninstalled the recognized device driver and let Windows detect the device again and reinstall the driver, but also without success. I also disabled power management option to disable device, without success.

When I start in normal mode, I can't read NTFS volume. When I boot in safe mode I can read. The USB works on other PC in normal mode. Old USB 2.0 USB key works in normal mode. Strange. It must be a firmware problem or driver in my opinion. If it is a hardware problem or device the device would not work in safe mode!

Are USB 3.0 64 GB of storage devices that are compatible with Toshiba laptops with USB 2.0 ports?

There could be a problem of compatibility between the USB controller and the USB key.
    This compatibility questions aren't unusual.

But I m wondering if you could try to fix this in the other direction:
First check to see if the USB flash memory stick would appear in disk management

    Panel-> management-> disk management computer

Here you will see all the partitions on the HARD disk and the USB connected.
Check if you can format the USB key once more.

If the USB does not appear here, try this method:
Start the console by typing CMD
Then type the command: diskpart and press enter
Now, type command: automount enable and press enter

Now, close all windows and restart the laptop.

  • Satellite A665 - connect to TV via HDMI

    Hey guys,.

So I just bought a brand new Toshiba Satellite A665-S5183X and it works very well with my new little room LCD TV via HDMI and connects automatically when I plug the HDMI.

HOWEVER, my old 42 '' Plasma connected via HDMI won't recognize the other. The TV says it is not receiving a signal and the laptop does not appear a 2ndary display in the graphics settings. The works of HDMI cord and I watch COX via HDMI to the older plasma TV.

    What gives?

    Hello

If you have connected the laptop to a monitor press external combination of keys FN + F5 to switch between monitors. Also, make sure that the cable is connected before you turn on both monitors. Then turn on the TV and select the correct channel to HDMI input, now, turn on the laptop.

  • Overheating my Satellite A665 - 12 M

    Well,.

As the title says, my Satellite A665 is overheating. I bought it some time ago, but it has done from the beginning. I wasn't expecting to buy a EUR 2000, - portable and have these issues. I have only these questions when I went and all CPUS are overexploited.

All solutions? I even want to trade this laptop for a new... ;-)

    q

    > I do not play games on this one, but rather made on all processors or CUDA cores.

Yes, this emphasis on the CPU could be much and leads to a higher temperature
I assume you are using the Toshiba graphics card driver don't you?

This is important because the driver of Toshiba GPU support thermal protection that slow down the GPU if critical temp level would be reached

However, I would recommend cleaning the fans (of course only if they are blocked)

Dust and debris could affect the movement of air, and in the end, the temperature would be too high

Otherwise, the service must check the laptop since it is not usual behavior for laptop
