Satellite A665 - Rull due refund issue SATA

Hey there,
I could really use some advice.

I have a Satellite A665-S5184 - ordered the United Kingdom, the United States. (cost of £600 + tax £230 and deliveries... so it was a good deal for me)... However...
Today I received an email from Toshiba that says that my laptop is affected by a defect in the design of the chipset intel and I need to send him to the United States for a full refund. The design flaw means the connectors for devices sata connected (for example, my disk drive HARD or Blue-ray), can be in degraded mode and stop working over time.

At the moment my phone works great!
And the thought to send him to the United States... lose 230 lbs I invested + on an another £230 to return it... make my stomach turn.
Will open here tomorrow from 09:00 assistance centre only and I will try to get their advice, but I was hoping that someone will be here some previews...

See you soon

Hi Jacoby,

I think your laptop is already Intel Sandy Bridge CPU so it s affected and has a problem with the SATA connectors. You can read about this problem on every site computer I think but you know he s not a question of Toshiba, it's a problem of design of Intel.

In any case, you should talk with your local authorized service provider. Your laptop is an American model, so I m sure that everything can be clarified with US guys. They can replace the unit you can get another one for free. :)

    Hello!

Please can you help me find the drivers for Windows XP for Satellite A665 64_bit_SP2. I just installed this windows XP 64_bit_SP2 due to an unsatisfactory performance of Windows 7 64, however the drivers I could not found.
I'll wait for all the answers!
    Thank you!

    Best Ragards dear friends!

    Hi Alex

Huh.. What to say now. Why do these stupid mistakes?
Please don t get me wrong, but to install some OS and then try to find the drivers is for me is really crazy.

For me is logical step to check the OS support in a first time, collect drivers and then install OS including all the necessary drivers. I just hope that you created the recovery DVDs until you have installed Windows XP Home edition.
Where you have looked for drivers of Windows XP Home edition?

If you see the Toshiba support page, you will see that your laptop model is not supported for WXP then where you want to find the drivers for Windows XP Home edition now? Material used in your Satellite is based on the latest technology and standards, so manufacturers don t support t for old Windows XP Home edition.

In any case, we can try to find some of them. What A665 do you have exactly? PSAW3E or PSAW9E?

  • Overheating my Satellite A665 - 12 M

    Well,.

As the title says, my Satellite A665 is overheating. I bought it some time ago, but it has done from the beginning. I wasn't expecting to buy a EUR 2000, - portable and have these issues. I have only these questions when I went and all CPUS are overexploited.

All solutions? I even want to trade this laptop for a new... ;-)

    q

    > I do not play games on this one, but rather made on all processors or CUDA cores.

Yes, this emphasis on the CPU could be much and leads to a higher temperature
I assume you are using the Toshiba graphics card driver don't you?

This is important because the driver of Toshiba GPU support thermal protection that slow down the GPU if critical temp level would be reached

However, I would recommend cleaning the fans (of course only if they are blocked)

Dust and debris could affect the movement of air, and in the end, the temperature would be too high

Otherwise, the service must check the laptop since it is not usual behavior for laptop

  • Satellite A665 no display - external screen does not work

I help my brother in law with his laptop Satellite A665, who developed a very strange display issue.

As his wife has poor vision, he uses an external VGA Westinghouse flat screen display with the LCD screen on the laptop.

Now, however, when the external monitor is disconnected it also loses the LCD.
I tried to go to the LCD by using only the display of control Fn/F5, but when LCD only is selected, it remains empty.

Then, I went the Toshiba HW config utility and disabled monitor automatic selection at startup and selects the display LCD only at startup.

Reboot in this way also translates into a blank display, until the external monitor is reconnected, date at which both displays are active.

Bottom line, it of that I find no obvious for the laptop LCD display without also the connected external monitor and displays. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this embarrassing problem.

    > Bottom line, it of that I find no obvious for the laptop LCD display without also the connected external monitor and displays.

Does this mean that internal displays only works if the external monitor is connected to the laptop?

It's really strange. As you say, usually, you should be able to switch between the internal display and the external monitor by pressing FN + F5.

It would be interesting to know if change BIOS defaults might restore the internal display. I guess that it will not solve your problem, but it s worth a try.

I guess that it is hardware problem (motherboard), and it won't be easy to fix

  • Satellite A665-14F - does not

I bought new Toshiba Satellite A665-14F. CPU i7 RAM 4 GB, HDD 640 GB

My problem is that my laptop is not responding during startup, everything I opened will not respond. Thoght even my friend has an i5 CAREB 6 GB of Ram and 750Go. It is portable starts faster than my laptop and it does not receive non - answer if it starts it is portable.

I've done only the Windows update befor this problem happens then the beginning of the problem. I visit the Toshiba to the Kuwait company and they said that it is a software error and consider again (it seem well) now, but when I reinstall Windows updates the problem of the lack is back. Not that: I install all important updates and not important.

    I hope someone could help

    Hey Buddy,

To be honest, I also think that this problem must be related software but I can't imagine it's caused due Windows update do you have already installed Service Pack 1 for Windows? If this isn't it!
Have you noticed the same problem if you start your computer in safe mode?
You use the preinstalled version of Windows 7 in Toshiba or is it your own installation?

In the worst case, you must start a recovery facility and reset your laptop to factory settings. Then your laptop should work normally again.
If you install Windows updates only the important updates are necessary. I have never installed not important updates.

  • Re: Satellite A665-3DV: reformatting + Drivers

Hi, I just got my new laptop Satellite A665-3DV of Frys. I also bought an upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate to format and install windows again. I do that because that usually computers laptops that are shipped are filled with things I don't not needed/wanted, causing a significant slowdown on my machine. However, after formatting and installing Windows 7 Ultimate, I entered a few driver problems. I want to know what drivers I need so I can download and install now.

If someone is good enough to help me, it would be very grateful. Thank you.

    Hello

I agree with you. On the original recovery image pre-installed, there are a lot of things that we as a user of portable computers do not need, but there is no reason for to update or clean OS install.

You can remove all the unnecessary stuff and configure the boot option. I do this every time after installation, new recovery image. You can do the same thing.
Note please. Recovery image contains all necessary things for the perfect configured hardware. This additional applications can be deleted.

In any way, if you want to install an update that's OK. I put t know issue drivers who you are writing about, but I can imagine there are drivers like BT or VAP to be removed before the installation of the update starts.

Remove all components, install update and install again the missing things. All what you need you can find on the download page of Toshiba under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads.

Does anyone else have this problem?

And you have this problem on the first day?
Do you use pre-installed OS original you got with your laptop?

    You have changed some settings?

  • Satellite A665-127, the upgrade to Windows 8

    Hello!

I want to put my Toshiba Satellite A665-127 to Windows 8. Please tell me, are there problems with the drivers or the buttons on the Panel before utility like Volume etc?

    Hello

Have you checked the page of the Toshiba UE driver to win 8 availability of the driver?
I did I chose the series Satellite A665 and did not find any drivers Win 8.
So, you have to collect the drivers with your own hands!
This might be a bit boring. But even if some drivers are not available for A665, you will be able to use Win 8

  • What can I do to make the Satellite A665-S6086 run with the new memory?

I was able to update the BIOS for my Satellite A665-S6086 by updating 2.30 on CD burning. I have Windows 7 64 bit. I needed to update the BIOS, because I upgraded my RAM/memory of 2 GB (4 GB total) two cards two cards of 4 GB (8 GB total).

My question now is when I start my computer with the new RAM/memory (two cards that are KTT-S3BS / 4G Kingston DDR3 1333 MHZ SODIMM SGL RANK), it freezes on the screen from Windows startup. Then when I hold the power button to shut it down and restart it, it wants to start using Windows repair but then crashes again. When I put in the memory of the old man and he start up, it starts the Windows repair and runs normally.

What can I do to make my computer run with the new memory?

I thank very you much in advance!

    What you can do?
Buy an another RAM modules that are fully compatible with the laptop.
It seems that you want to use the RAM modules which are not totally compatible and therefore the system hangs.

By the way: the CPU that is used in this notebook runs the DDR3-800 and DDR3-1066
    RAM modules.
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/49020

I would not recommend to use the modules of DDR3-1333 but PA3677U-1M4G 4 GB DDR3-1066

  • Re: Satellite A665-13V - impossible to activate WLAN Funktion

    Hello

I have the Toshiba Satellite A665-13V without the 3D feature when I bought it was installed there on Windows Vista operating system, I think not a lot of Vista, I have formatted hard drive partitioned immediately and installed Windows 7 Pro x 64, including all new driver!

After about two days, I accidentally pressed a button any and so the disabled built-in wireless adapter,.
Now I am faced with the problem that I can not activate the feature!

Toshiba value added package, I had already installed in two different versions for the function of the keys FN, but nothing happens when I press the FN + F8 FN key, all other orders remain intact!

Does anyone of you how activate you again specially for this model, the built-in wireless adapter?

    Hello

This means that you cannot use a combination of FN keys?
Wireless network card is recognized in device under network adapters Manager?

  • USB drive not readable on the Satellite A665-13W

    Hello

I have the following problem. I have Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 64 GB (USB 3.0) by car and it is perfectly readable on other PCs without worrying if I connect it to the USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports.

The device is detected in Windows 7 64-bit on Toshiba Satellite A665-13W and I see it in Device Manager. He invites me to open the disk E: (NTFS volume), but it looks empty when I open it in Explorer Windows with a certain delay when Explorer seems to scan drive.

I see some errors in the event viewer such as:
Event ID 11: driver has detected an error in the controller on \Device\Harddisk1\DR2

But when I connect for example Patriot 8 GB USB drive it works without problem. When I boot Windows 7 in safe mode, the Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 64 GB drive is connected, and I can read it.

What should I do to make it readable without going into safe mode?

I have the latest BIOS 2.30, I tried to enable/disable USB legacy support, I tried the fast/normal startup, I tried to install the latest Intel Chipset drivers, I tried all USB ports, including one that can be used as eSATA port, but without success. I also uninstalled the recognized device driver and let Windows detect the device again and reinstall the driver, but also without success. I also disabled power management option to disable device, without success.

When I start in normal mode, I can't read NTFS volume. When I boot in safe mode I can read. The USB works on other PC in normal mode. Old USB 2.0 USB key works in normal mode. Strange. It must be a firmware problem or driver in my opinion. If it is a hardware problem or device the device would not work in safe mode!

Are USB 3.0 64 GB of storage devices that are compatible with Toshiba laptops with USB 2.0 ports?

There could be a problem of compatibility between the USB controller and the USB key.
    This compatibility questions aren't unusual.

But I m wondering if you could try to fix this in the other direction:
First check to see if the USB flash memory stick would appear in disk management

    Panel-> management-> disk management computer

Here you will see all the partitions on the HARD disk and the USB connected.
Check if you can format the USB key once more.

If the USB does not appear here, try this method:
Start the console by typing CMD
Then type the command: diskpart and press enter
Now, type command: automount enable and press enter

Now, close all windows and restart the laptop.
