Satellite L20-205 doesn't wake up mode screen saver

Please could someone give me some advice on the following problem. My laptop from time to time will not live from the idle mode - I don't speak of the screen.

When it goes into mode ensures a few minutes normally it should go live after moving the mouse or any key, but sometimes it isn't. So I have to restart the computer by pressing the main button and after a few seconds restart.

My laptop was recently in the service and the entire screen has been replaced again but the problem happening again.

Thanks in advance
Peter

Hello

That means this issue has been resolved by replacing the screen, but now, it's happening again?

It's not easy to tell if it s a hardware or software problem because as you say the problem seems sometimes and not always

So first of all I recommend updating the graphics card driver and check if the BIOS update was published for this laptop.
Reinstall the OS from the Toshiba restore CD and test if it happens on the new BONES recovered.

  • Re: Satellite A200-1BQ, does not not after the screen saver

Hi, I have a Satellite A200, 32-bit Windows 7 OS. When you use the screensaver to the PC stop responding. Have to spend because no response.

If you have a report some problem send it please.

    Hello

This means that Windows 7 hangs and does not answer only when the screen saver has been activated?
Have you noticed the same problem with Win XP or Win Vista?

If not then this behavior of the laptop could be related only to Win 7 and I think that it might be caused by the graphic card driver

Remove the graphics driver that you have installed and test the screen saver using the common windows driver 7

It would be interesting to know what is happening

  • Satellite C660D-102 blocks when past to the screen saver

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660D-102 of Windows 7 OS. Basically, if my computer is left unattended, and goes to the screen saver, it freezes and has to be restarted by holding down the power button. If I'm listening to the music, makes a loud noise when it does this until it is turned off.

Anyone has any ideas of what could be the cause?
    Thanks, Matt

To be honest, this laptop T series is unclear to me. What is the correct model name or model number?
Are you using the original pre-installed OS?
Have you noticed this problem since the day where we?
Do you use the standard Windows screensaver?
Did you install additional software that is running in the background?

Sorry for these questions but it is not easy to give you simple answer and specifies what may be the problem.

Most of the time my laptop just don't wake up more and all I can do is to the hard switch off and turn it back on. • Connectivity LAN on Satellite L20-205 works sometimes and sometimes not

    Hello

Well im using ethernet to connect to internet. The thing is, sometimes it works, sometimes not. There are times when I can connect immediately after that I turned on the laptop, there are moments where the connection becomes available after 10 minutes of operation of the laptop, sometimes it doesn't quite work.

However, sometimes the connection could freeze even after running for some time. Actually, its kind of voodoo magic connection to the net via this phone. It is said that the cable is connected, but there is 0 packets. It frustrates some me... so I'm wondering if anyone has come across a similar behaviour of his satellites?

    Hello

On this path, it is not easy to say why this is happening. Good and stable connectivity LAN depends on a few different factors. You must know that this laptop can not only peripheral being responsible for this. I put t know what LAN you use (probably DSL at home), but you must also check if the ADSL modem or router is configured correctly.

If you are free, try to connect to your laptop to some other LAN to check how it works on an independent network. I really can't imagine that LAN card or driver may be responsible for this.

I use at home of DSL connectivity and if the router is without power for a while, it can takes about 10 minutes before I can use an Internet connection.

Why is this happening and what can I do to solve this problem.

    Hello

I'm don't know if you know, but Toshiba doesn't support the Linux operating system.
In this case there is no information on these issues of Linux on Toshiba laptops.
I have a tip for you. Why not install windows on your device and use a Knoppix Linux? You n t need to install Linux on the HARD drive. It starts from the live DVD and you can work with Linux as with Suse Linux.

  • Satellite L20-217: product Recovery CD/DVD (reinstall Windows XP)

    Hello world

I have a Satellite L20-217 (aka PSL2XE) who is now more than three years. It's been a good camera but needs a clean reinstall of Windows XP to improve performance and stability, or possibly install a new larger hard drive. My problem is that I don't have a product recovery CD or DVD - it is be lost or has not submitted by the dealer who has also installed additional software purchase.

Plan A: I checked the backup disk Toshiba Europe site command to such https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/serial.aspx as suggested by other people in this forum online. Unfortunately my model (or particular unit) is not supported. When I enter my serial number, it gives me the message "device no way recovery can be ordered, because it's not about Toshiba Europe region, or it is too old for this service."

Plan b: I could use a different Windows XP CD to install the base operating system and to cope with the necessary drivers. I created a backup of the drivers and utilities of L20 CD, but do not have access to a vanilla Windows XP Edition family installation disc. (I tried the recovery CD for my Satellite A70 which is not recognized by the L20 at all and an XP Pro the installation CD for my other machines, but of course, the license key is not fair - the L70 is license for XP Home no Pro.)

Plan C: the L20 is still operational. Is it somehow possible to create a disc of recovery of this machine itself? I couldn't find a utility to do it on the hard drive. Some Toshiba machines are supposed to support a recovery, insider mode by holding down the button "0" when the power, but not this unit.

    The questions are:
    (1) is it possible to create a disc of recovery of this machine itself somehow?
    (2) is there another way to contact Toshiba Europe to order a CD or a DVD? (As I live in the Canada after buying L20 in Gibraltar while she lived in Europe, the cost + shipping is likely to be more that the computer is worth worth)
    (3) as a last resort, that I must try to find a bootleg XP Media CD somewhere?
    (4) other solutions?

    Thanks in advance!

    Masala

    >) it is possible to create a disc of recovery of this machine itself somehow?
No! You cannot create own recovery on this laptop drive because this option was not mentioned on this model. New laptop models which are not delivered with the recovery only supports disk a possibility to create a recovery disk.

(> 2) y at - it another way to contact Toshiba Europe to order a CD or a DVD? (As I live in the Canada after buying L20 in Gibraltar while she lived in Europe, the cost + shipping is likely to be more that the computer is worth worth)
Usually, you can order the CD from recovery of the ASP from Toshiba, but I'm not sure if the European ASP will send to the Canada. In addition, it would be possible that the recovery for this laptop disk is no longer available.
However, maybe you should contact the ASP (using European countries) in order to get more details.

(> 3) as a last resort, that I must try to find a bootleg XP Media CD somewhere?
Well, the last option would be an original Win XP disc with the right key of BONE.
After Installing Win XP boot, you can download the Win XP drivers from the Toshiba page.

    (> 4) alternatives?
I doubt, there are other solutions, either you will install the operating system using the disk Toshiba or Microsoft

  • Satellite L20-100 cannot access a USB Flash drive

I recently bought Toshiba Satellite L20-100
I installed a USB in Kingston datatraveler flash drive and windows recognized it without problem.
but when I open my computer there is no icon for the reader (it works on another computer well).
the drive is recognized in Device Manager, but it is not given a drive letter.
When I open disk management and try to give it a drive letter it still does not show on my computer even after a reboot.

Although I can access the disk management flash drive and can open, copy & paste the files & to her.
same problem happened with a card reader.
other USB devices like cable modem & mouse work well

    What is the solution

    Hello

Is it possible that the USB is not formatted? Try changing the file system on the USB key.
You can also try to change the drive letter because the letter assigned automatically sometimes gives some conflicts with other readers.

    Second possibility:
You can try to clean all the USB stored device settings and let Windows refresh their.

Create a file with Notepad containing the following lines and save it as a BOOKMARK. REG
    -cut after this line-
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Environment]

    "DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES" = "1".
    -cut before this line-

Double click on FIX. REG and say yes to the merge into registry question.

    Unplug ALL USB device.
    Open the Device Manager.
    View, show hidden devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB controllers.
Uninstall all devices in hard drives that you know are not present.
Uninstall all devices in storage Volumes. Say no to all reboot prompts until you are finished.
In addition, if a storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore her and move on to the next.
If you have a yellow? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

  • Satellite L20 - 120 - recovery takes too long

I'm not sure, if I take the right recovery DVDs - I got it from my client. I have a DVD "GMR400864GR0", Windows XP Prof, 2008. After restoration, remove the DVD, first start XP - execution of the VBI for more than 2 hours (said I should not stop)-is it possible? Or have I done something wrong or took a bad DVD?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi Austria,.

I can t tell you if it s the right recovery disk so you can find any information on the disk as recovery disk Toshiba for Satellite L20?
You will find all information about the model on the disk?

If the recovery disk doesn't work, you should try a disc of Microsoft. All the drivers and tools can be downloaded from Toshiba! :)

  • Re: Satellite L20-155 crashes randomly

    Hello

You have a strange problem with the Satellite L20-155, about three years.

During use, it just hangs. The mouse is not responding. No error message in the event log, using windows XP Professional Ed. Screen is frozen.

I have seems to happen randomly. Sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes 10. Sometimes, it crashes then on the XP Welcome screen. \

Open the folder to see if there was a lot of dust in the fan to avoid a temperature problem. This was not the case. The fan was clean and properly in the course of execution.

Tried to start the pc in safe mode. Because in safe mode I don't seem to have problems, I decided to reinstall XP everywhere because I thought he might have had a software problem, but during the installation, the PC crashes also. Everything freezes. No response what so ever. He tried twice. In the copy of the files, the PC crashes.

    Has someone experienced similar problems?
This sounds like a hard drive problem?

I would like to know suddenly course where I have buy a new hard drive.

    Thank you

    Kind regards

    Math

    Hello

I agree with Abe. I had a similar problem with my old Satellite phone. I did HDD test and discovered that there were many defective sectors.

Computer laptop start works well, but after a while I noticed the same symptoms as you. If possible, try to get the new HARD drive, Exchange and I am 100% sure that everything will be OK again.

First of all, I must say that I am old so asks if any notice given is done in the simplest terms of 69!

I have a PC running Windows XP pro using the Livebox (orange) with Wi - Fi router. I want to use my laptop Satellite L20 s wife to connect to the internet using the wireless on this router. I find it almost impossible to implement.

I tried the Windows Wizard and also the L20 set up Assistant. I can find the right connection and add the WEP number, nothing happens, the L20 doesn t connect. What I have to install the software from the Livebox to make this work? Because I tried as well!
I also have a problem with the battery not holding a charge.

Any help would be most appreciated.
    In Frustration,.
    Tony Cahill

    Hello Tony

If you have a search option use time on this forum and the search for similar threads on the Livebox. It seems that many users have similar problems as you. The Livebox is not known to me and perhaps you should contact the Internet service provider and ask for help.

If the WLAN on Satellite L20 works (no material default) provides the Internet should be able to help you correctly configure the WLAN.
