  The sound on my computer sometimes works, sometimes not. I have a HP pavilion touchsmart laptop computer running windows 8. I'm really not tech savy and hesitant to try troubleshooting on my own too. Support and suggestions would be helpful. Not sure if this has to do with updates or why it works sometimes and other times not.

  Personally, I would say running through the procedure that I detailed in my initial post, because it is relatively in line forward and in all likelihood, you'll need to remove the particular update ( KB2962407 ) and then hide it from restarting.

  At the end of the day, only you can decide what you feel comfortable with and if your laptop are still under warranty, using staples or HP must be free.

• Satellite X 205-Sli3 - display driver would not correctly work with SLI

  I bought a computer to portable Satellite X 205 - Sli3 in the United States less than five months ago and I had a lot of problems with it lately.

  It happens quite often that the computer crashes without apparent reason, for example when I use Skype, Windows Media Player, or DVD player. Moreover, as quite often happens out of nowhere, I get a blue screen error and the computer shuts down.   sounds like a hardware issue. It would be wise to send the machine to the nearest service partner in your country because you won´t be able to fix it yourself.
  I guess it has something to do with the VGA card, or among the memory modules would not work as they should.

• Satellite L10 - 205 - product recovery CD does not work

  I buy a Toshiba Satellite L10 - 205 laptop from Dubai and since it was working fine.

  This is not a defect, Toshiba image that sits on the recovery disc for an old series laptop is based on Win 98 again Win XP is on the disc! So don t worry it s Win XP!

  I m not very well why you can not recover the laptop, but there are two options; HARD drive failure is so the laptop has been slower or the recovery disk is faulty (maybe a few scratches, etc.)

  Check the BIOS on the toshiba. BIOS in the video settings, there should be a possibility to change the PAL or NTSC. If the value is NTSC I see problems that you described. So as if you right-click on the desktop and select Properties, click on the tab on the far right, a last and properties then go to advanced. Under these properties, it must have an option to NTSC or PAL. Make sure that PAL is thus selected here and see if that solves the problem. I hope this helps.

  I have a Toshiba Satellite L20-181 and I bought an Intel Mini PCI Wifi Pro/Wireless 2200BG so that I place it in the empty Mini PCI connector it has in order to have the wireless.

  I have a printer B111a 5510 newly purchased HPphotosmart, which I'm pleased overall except.

  You can use the USB connection, however, your printer lacks an Ethernet (aka the network cable).

  You can certainly use the USB to a computer, and this computer will be able to print and scan.  However, if you share this printer with other computers on your network, only the printing function will be shared, not sweeping.

• Captivate swf issues navigation - buttons sometimes work, sometimes not

  I have a single file Captivate 5.5 with 100 + slides. I have the back and buttons next on most of the slides, as well as navigation buttons to slides of early for the various sections in the module.

  Some nav buttons work well all the time, some never work right and some are intermittent - sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. When they do not they either go to the wrong slide, nothing happens.

  I'm puzzled why this is happening. The properties of the buttons that work are identical to those that are not. It is possible that I have slides quiz grouped throughout the module. I wonder if the problem might be related to that.

  Any ideas?

  Can you copy and paste all the slides to a new empty project at the same resolution and republish that. (Note, you must deselect the result Quiz slide before copying, as it can ' be copied)

• Satellite M50D-A-103 crashed and does not light

  I have a Satellite m50d-a-103, which takes place in Ubuntu.

  The operating system crashed recently. I'm not sure if the laptop off really or not. But the screen is dark, and the laptop does not start when you press the power button.

  For the white flashing indicator power, it is said: "Indicates that the computer is in mode 'sleep' and that there is enough available power (mains or battery adapter) to maintain this State."

  So I guess that my initial assumption may be correct. I still don't know not how out of fashion "before" however.

• Satellite Pro L450D black screen and will not respond to any keys

  My niece has used his Toshiba L450D for almost a year now and he really liked it, who was until last month. She turned on her laptop and when she presses the button of the mouse, the button cracked and he fell into the laptop.

  Now my brother contacted Toshiba and I was told because it is under warranty it might return for repair because it was a common fault. Then he he packed in loads of air bubbles and a box to make sure it was safe.

  A few weeks later he came back repaired but we were all shocked that the laptop was put in a very loose box and you could hear this rattling noise. When we turned on the battery was flat and we had a new boot menu.

  As she installed it Windows 7 laptop would boot directly into Windows 7, but now after the repair of the laptop shows a menu black screen with as follows:

  + Windows 7 +.
  + Recover Windows to Factory Settings [active EMS] +.

  So we started in Windows and everything went well, but now after 5 or 10 or even 20 minutes, laptop displays a black screen and will not respond to keys or mouse movement. There is nothing on the screen its just black.

  I started in SafeMode (which was more difficult with the new menu) and it does the same thing. I even managed to do a virus scan quick who took 3-4 minutes and was clean.

  Have you tried the option of HARD drive recovery?

  If this is not the case, try to set the notebook back to factory settings using HARD drive recovery.
  Turn on the device, press F12, choose repair my computer, then select Toshiba HDD recovery.

• Satellite P300 question, shuts down and does not restart intermittently.

  My wifes p300 presents a very confusing and annoying problem. She is now on her 3rd replacement the last two having the same problem.

  I just turned off intermittently for no reason, a few times, it will restart but sometimes he used. So if I remove the battery and plug in the power that it restarts again however it then turns off again and do not restart unless the battery is returned. I think it may be a problem with the battery and the power cable as she said that the problem will only get worse if the computer will run on battery power for a while.

  I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem or had any suggestions as to what could be the problem.

• Satellite P300-161: alarm low and criticism not fire

  I just bought a Satellite P300-161 with Vista and every time alarm if there is only a pop-up notification at the low or critical level, you but no sound alarm. I checked the settings under "advanced power management" and "battery" and both have the value default to 'ON' for low and critical battery alarm.

  I also made sure there is a noise linked to these events under 'Hardware and sound', 'System sounds' and "low battery alarm" and a criticism.

  The default sounds are really sweet so I registered and chosen my sensors clean up but still no luck.

  I did a search on google and apparently several people had the same problem. In addition to suggest to both look like the above parameters, some have said that it is a general problem with Vista that will be fixed with service pack 1. I already service Pack1 so that does not solve it.

  The other thing that I found via google is that apparently Vista doesn't offer it through the message system, but makes it available for 3rd party software. It seems ridiculous that Toshiba withdrew its usefulness because of power management especially in Vista.

  I wouldn't mind an alarm from the BIOS, but looking at the settings, I couldn't find all the options. I can only note a pop up and if I play music or something, I have completely run out and the computer into hibernation which is really annoying.

  I would be grateful if anyone has any suggetions on how to solve the problem.

  It is a pity that you describe your problem WLAN so little time and we don t know what you tried exactly and what results are there.

  For properly WLAN use two hardware components must be configured right - the router itself and laptop. It will be interesting to know on what are the instructions you wrote.
