Satellite L30 - upgrade to a DVD - RW

I have Toshiba Satellite L30-14. Recently, I installed 1 GB of memory as some guys here suggest. Model works much better now. Now, I want to replace my CD - RW Drive with a DVD - RW? Which manufacturer do you offer me (lite - on, Nec) or maybe better to buy an external DVD - RW?

Thanks for the comments.

Hello

I'm not sure about the manufacturer, I used several disks of different companies and never had any problems.
But I suggest buying an external drive, because you have no problem with the Assembly and you can use it with other computers, too.
That's just my opinion.

Good bye

    I bought my laptop (Satellite L30-134 PSL33E) 4 months ago and I had no problem with the optical drive of my Satellite. But yesterday, I discovered that my drive is no longer can read data CDs.

    I created a CD with the Toshiba ToDisc utility which contained MP3s. The CD works fine on another computer but when I try to play them on this computer Windows laptop tells me that the CD is blank and asks me if I want to save data.

    It doesn't have this problem with the DVD, I can read and write perfectly. My optical drive is a CARPET * a DVD-RAM UJ - 841S. Windows says I have the latest driver for it (5.1.2535.0) but it says it's from 2001 (?) in the properties under the selected hardware.

  • Satellite L30-113 PSL33E: CD/DVD player not Burning not.

    Hi, for some strange reason my CD/DVD drive will not burn files to CDR discs. I tried burning data and music, but without success. It was working before but now will not work. I have no idea if this is due to updates or if the player is running out.

    It will burn the data/music etc. on the disc, but then it will fail.

    I would be grateful if someone could help me to find a solution to this problem, as I am a student and I really need to be able to burn files to disc.

    Thank you.

    Try the following steps:

    -Remove the drive from Device Manager
    -restart the laptop
    -the OS should reinstall the drive
    -go into the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} *.

    - then reboot again and test the drive

  • Satellite L30 - 10V - CD/DVD read not all drives because Windows 7 upgrade

    I have a Satellite L30 - 10V which I've updated Vista to Windows 7 (full version). I am now unable to read any CD at all. He thinks that all CDs are totally blank new CD

    Anyone has any ideas what could be the problem?

    Hey,.

    > I have a Satellite L30 - 10V which I've updated Vista to Windows 7 (full version)
    Did you do an upgrade or complete new clean installation of your version?

    Anyway, the drive worked during installation that you was not able to install Windows. So I doubt it s hardware related issue

    In your case I would try to remove the upper and lower filters in the registry:
    1.demarrez-> Run-> Regedit
    2. navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    3. in the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key and delete the key "LowerFilters".
    4.reboot.

  • Satellite L30-134 - after HDD upgrade PC freezes and won't start

    Hello
    I upgraded my Satellite L30-134 of the standard 60 GB HDD for a new 120 GB. After that, I have the following problem:

    (1) after installing XP form to the recovery House DVDs works fine but after that 2-3 weeks of normal use it instantly freeze pc and after hard reboot the OP start up can do anything but to format the HARD drive. After that format cannot install original XP and Vista, the progress bar show me that the installation is complete but after reboot, nothing happens. This problem persists long wery. After 3-4 clean up one after another the pc starts and runs very well about 3 weeks. What is the problem? Any idea?

    (2) when I first install Vista or Linux PC is runing fine, but not in normal parameters. Always freeze but after hard reset works fine for about 2-3 days. When I install XP first that the PC is useles after hard reboot the only thing I can do is to format the HARD drive and do a clean install.

    PS: The HARD disk is produced Original Toshiba.

    Hello

    This strange boyfriend s but to me it sounds like that, these problems are caused from the new HARD drive that may be defective.

    I think you should test the HDD using Hitachi Drive Fitness Test:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
    With the Drive Fitness Test, you can test your HARD drive. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. You can then the HARD drive test.

    Good luck and give us feedback, what happened! :)

  • Satellite L30-134: how to make a DVD of recovery on mine?

    I want to make a new DVD of recovery like the one I had with my laptop series Satellite L30-134.
    Can some tell me how I can do this?

    You must purchase 3rd party applications to create the own recovery image. For example I did with Norton Ghost 2003.

  • For the Archives: The upgrade of the Satellite L30-134

    I'm one of those old cell phones off a friend who had retired as being obsolete.

    However with a little time and money, it is possible to upgrade to a very usable machine.

    Not a power by any stretch but perfectly adequate for browsing the internet and watching videos (about 720 p watchable) standard definition etc.

    So as the search of these forums for more information for this project, I found a lot of conflicting advice, and some of my questions were not answered at all. I hope by documenting my experiences here I can help someone in the same position in the future.

    * Model *.

    This machine is the Toshiba Satellite L30-134, part number: PSL33E-00E013G3. It's probably very similar, but not necessarily the same as the other models L30. No invert them.

    * Original configuration *.

    Processor - Intel Celeron m 410 (Cache of 1 MB, 1.46 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, Socket M). It is a simple version of the Core Duo (Yonah core) processor core. It shares nothing in common and is not swapable with the previous generation Pentium M or processors Celeron Mr. He is also incompatible with the next generation of Core 2 Duo/Solo and Pentium and Celeron processors derived from these.

    Memory - A single 512MB SODIMM PC2 - 4200 (DDR2-533 MHz). This differs from the previous generation of DDR and the next generation of DDR3. The controller memory only supports single channel mode. There is no loss that the FSB of the processor is not fast enough to take advantage of the dual channel anyway.

    * BIOS *.

    My laptop came with very old version 1.3. Toshiba provides the latest version (3.10) for download. This is reported to be buggy and mess with the profiles of fan so I decided to leave it alone. I can confirm that my updates work without updating the BIOS.

    * Updates *.

    Processor - I swapped the Celeron for a Core Duo T2350 (1.87 GHz). Everything I read that all the Yonah core Core Duo/solo, Pentium and Celeron with a FSB of 533 are compatible. The FSB 667 models are not.

    The Core Duo T2450 at 2 GHz is the highest performing compatible processor but double the price on eBay. I paid just £12 (used) for the T2350 so there is really no reason to go down now, all of these parts are obsolete.

    RAM - there are 2 slots on this machine. Toshiba State a maximum of 2 GB, 1 GB in each slot. Unfortunately, the memory controller is very picky and survey of the weird errors, unless you get just the right ones.

    There is not enough information to understand it so for me it was a process of trial and error. Fortunately, I found an online retailer that guaranteed compatibility in 100% and returned by mail for free.

    The second pair of Poles worked well.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • DVD - rom on Satellite L30 does not work

    My dvd rom is not working, when I insert a cd or nothings DVDs arrive. I have a satellite L30. I have the latest version of the driver (I think).

    Hello

    Your driver is listed correctly in the Device Manager and Windows Explorer?

    The description of your problem is quite short and I can just recommend that you test the drive using movies DVD and music CD.

    If you have time please post a little more on this problem. all info you can offer can be useful.

  • Satellite L30: Watch DVD problem - slowly and the sound is distorted

    Hello!
    I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite L30-115. I use WinDVD preinstalled to watch DVD. everything was fine until yesterday. Since then, my DVD drive seems to have problems with playback of DVD movies (original).

    It's a little slower that should be, and the sound is a bit distorted. The same DVD my laptop no problems to play now, it seems impossible to play properly.

    I tried system recovery to date, everything was good, but that did not help.

    Everything's fine, when I play movies from my hard drive, but apparently my DVD Player cannot play fair.
    I tried various combinations (turn on/off digital playback in Device Manager), but nothing seems to work.

    No idea how to fix?

    First of all, give it a try with cleaning the lens of your DVD player. Several times a lens dirty or CD/DVD that makes impossible to correct read causing delays.
    Because the movies read from the HARD disk correctly, it does not seem to be a related problem of codec, but... you should still try to use other DVD player software to ensure that WinDVD is not the source.

    I suggest you also to keep longer, to install software of reduction of CD speed during normal use of all the days of the life of your drive. As you know, the disc spins a lot faster than actually required inside the car which complicates the procedure for reading (especially on the scratched CD) and consumes more energy, too.

    Reduce speed solves problems like the one you have several times. Here is a link to the Version of acoustic silencer of TOSHIBA 1.00.008 (from page of the pilot satellite L30), give it a try:

    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/satellite/sl30psl33/XP/acoustic-silencer/acsil-PSL33-XP-100008-en.zip
    (This software runs independent you have European/American version of laptop L30, even on a different model as Satellite Pro 6100 a.s.o..)

  • Satellite L30 shortcuts keyboard no longer work after upgrading XP it-> XP Pro

    Hello

    I recently bought the Satellite L30 laptop computer with Windows XP preinstalled. I decided to upgrade to XP Professional and I did it by installation upgrade.
    Everything works fine, except for the Toshiba Hotkeys utility. A combination of keys Fn + function, but there is no picture (message) on the screen, and some do not work. The keys F1, F2, F3, F4, a F8 does not work for you. FN + Esc (silent) and F6 F7 (light) work quite ok. But still, even if a button work, the message is displayed.

    I did the same instance on Satellite A110 and everything worked well.

    I tried to reinstall the keyboard shortcut, but it is not possible. It is not listed in Add/Remove programs and the installation of TOOLSCD files crashes without message. In the event viewer, I can find information of Msiexec, syaing this config to access keys failed.
    The above behavior is the same when I restored it original XP installation there. Then of course, the shortcut keys work, but it is impossible to uninstall or reinstall.

    I tried to uninstall most of the Toshiba Utilities, but it did not help.

    Does anyone have an idea how to make keyboard shortcuts work on XP Pro (upgrade of the IT)?
    I have the only possibility would be to install XP Pro (have not yet tried), that is - anyone know how to install Office OneNote, on new installation? It is included in XP it and I can't find it in TOOLSCD, and I find it very useful, so I prefer to have on this machine.

    Thanks in advance for any ideas.

    Kind regards

    As far as I know there are two different models of laptops L30. The difference is apparent with the number PSLXXX. Are you sure that you downloaded the good stuff from Toshiba for your laptop model?

    BTW: when the laptop to factory settings, you are able to create own Tools & Utilities CD. This CD can be used for each installation of additional operating system. There is no difference between House of WXP or WXP Pro. All the drivers, tools, and utilities are the same. It is just important to all install in order good facilities.

  • Satellite L30-105 (PSL33E) Windows Vista does not see the DVD - ram UJ-850 s

    Hello

    I have a Satellite L30-105 (PSL33E) with windows Vista. Windows Vista does not recognize the DVD - ram. BIOS recognize DVD-ram. I tried to download the drivers for the DVD-ram, but they are not on the side of Toshiba.

    Who can help me to get the right driver or learn more? Problems with the carpet * a DVD-ram uj-850 s ATA device and windows Vista.

    Hello

    The CD/DVD drive needs no special drivers!
    Vista includes a Microsoft driver that works with all CURIOUS s (CD/DVD drives)

    Simply said, the Vista should recognize the drive without any problems.

    A few questions; did you get any error messages? What is the status of Device Manager? Do you see yellow exclamation points?

    There is an old way to correct a similar drive problem. It worked on XP then try it on Vista OS.
    It of necessary to update the registry entry
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    1. click on the start menu.
    2. If it is a Vista machine in the search box type regedit without quotes.
    3. look for the registry key mentioned above.
    4. in the right panel you'll see something along the lines of UpperFilter and UpperFilter you want to click on each key filter and tap on delete. Click Yes when asked to confirm if you want to delete the key.
    5. restart Windows.
    6 let me know if it works.

  • Satellite L30-113 - cannot burn CDs or DVDs

    I have a Satellite L30-113. Recently my driver failed for my dvd player, until I was able to install a few things and burn CDs and DVDs. Now, I can't record CDs or DVDs.

    Nero and CDBurnerXP for CD/DVD ROM say 'cannot continue burning process as you did not choose the device for recording. CD/DVD ROM propities shows that it does not support recording CDs and DVDs.

    I uninstalled the driver and restarted my computer and it reinstalled the same as that which does not once again. I am a driver update search and xp tells me that the driver is up-to-date. I checked the Toshiba updates with none of these updates for CD/DVD ROM.
    I have no idea on how to fix this unit "corrupted".

    Hi mate,

    I had a similar problem on my Toshiba laptop. So here, I searched a little bin forum and I founded to delete upper and lower filters in the registry. I followed the instructions in this Microsoft article:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314060

    After that, I again was able to burn DVDs.

    In addition, updated driver from CD/DVD isn't necessary because this driver is part of the operating system.

  • After downgrading from Vista Satellite L30-101 does not read DVD

    Hey,.

    Like many people, I didn't like Vista and so returned to the use of Windows XP.

    In doing so, I lost a lot of things like the ability to watch DVDs and sound, most of these problems fixed so easily by downloading the drivers from this site.

    However, even after the DVD driver download I can't read DVDs yet.
    When you try to play through Windows media player I get say error message that I did not have a MPEG-2 decoder, in the section web site help, it suggests where to get one, but you have to play for each other.
    After having one in the first place, I don't think I should buy a new one.

    If anyone has a solution it would be greatly appretiated if they could let me know.

    Thank you

    PS I have a Satellite L30-101

    I think you have a codec problem, but I'm not sure. Maybe you should install the latest version of Media Player and codec Xvid, DivX and AC3. These are free (google it!). Or you can try alternative software, such as WinDVD or PowerDVD, you can try the demo versions.
