Satellite L300D-245 - battery problem

I was using my laptop on battery only and all of a sudden it turned off even if she had 40% of power left and would not turn on. I plugged it into the outlet. the battery led doesn't light up. I turned on the laptop and everything was ok, but for the battery. the laptop read it, but it does not load. It's 40%, so I plugged it in, and it turns off immediately. the battery is now at 0% and the laptop runs on the power adapter only.

the laptop is old, vista 1 year.

Last week, I saw the same behavior on my laptop of a friend s. I'm not 100% sure but I think that the battery is defective. He has already ordered a new.

    Hello

    I installed Ubuntu 8.10 on my brand-new u. Satellite L300D-12
So far, everything works fine, but there are two things bother me.

    1. I have problem with suspends to RAM. It does not work. If I use the option to boot, the screen goes black but the laptop is still running (you can hear it).
In addition, nothing happens when I press the power button to exit the sleep option.
I completely close the laptop and restart to be back in Ubuntu.
Maybe someone has some ideas how I can fix the problem?

    My/etc/default/acpi-support have these entries:

    # Comment the following line to disable the ACPI suspend to RAM
    ACPI_SLEEP = true

    # Comment the following line to disable the suspension on disc
    ACPI_HIBERNATE = true

    # Change the following of 'sleep' to use ACPI S1 sleep, rather than S3.
    # This will save less energy, but can run on machines more
    # ACPI_SLEEP_MODE = mem
    ACPI_SLEEP_MODE = standby

My current maximum battery life is 01:10 hours. On windows, it's 2 hours >. Maybe someone has some ideas of configuration to increase the time of battery under Ubuntu?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello manual

I'm really skeptical about Linux here support. I heard that Toshiba will start with Linux support, but of course, it is not started yet.

If nobody here can offer help I recommend you discuss this on some Linux forum. You have more chance of getting help here.

Battery of my Satellite L300D loses most of its charge after only 2 days to be closed.

What is battery failure or software.

I have several machine with this problem

    Hello

I doubt that there is a fault.
I think that it s a matter of adjustment.

I read in some articles that Wake up on LAN option must also be able to if the laptop is not enabled.
Please disable the Wakup on LAN and other options in the BIOS.
In addition you may disable this option in the Device Manager-> LAN card-> properties-> Advanced tab
    This also for the WLan.

Last but not least, make sure you use the latest version of the BIOS.

  • Satellite Pro A120 battery problem

    Hi all

I have a portable Satellite Pro A120 and is a battery problem a month ago.
The battery is not new, but recently changed, 6 months ago.
Until a few weeks ago, it lasted about 2 hours when full load, until this time
    suddenly dropped 30-40 minutes.
In addition, sometimes the power of the laptop turns off when it's a few extra vibrations,
for example, if I put it on a table without the maximum protection.
In some cases, these, is not possible to turn on the laptop, unless I have remove the battery and put it back in place.

I initially though that there was a problem with the battery or the battery contacts, but they seem ok.
I tried to unload it in my laboratory of the company with a power resistance: resistance absorbed 1A continuously for more than 3 hours. As the specification 4400mAh battery, I would say that the battery is ok.

Is it possible that I have a problem with the battery inside the pc management circuit?
The battery stress test above seems to show that the charging process is ok. So the problem might be with
the provision of monitor or battery power.
Someone at - it experience of similar problems and maybe a solution.
Or perhaps a work around? As excluding the battery monitoring and auto turn off

    Thanks in advance
    Concerning

    > Is it possible I have a problem with the battery inside the pc management circuit?
Perhaps, but that's just a guess only a cellphone technician may provide an exactly the answer to this question.

    > Furthermore, sometimes the power of the laptop turns off when it's some additional vibration.
for example, if I put it on a table without the maximum protection.
In some cases, these, is not possible to turn on the laptop, unless I have remove the battery and put it back in place.

It is very strange, I want to say if the contacts of the battery and the battery would be ok, this symptom shouldn't its sounds strange for me, so maybe that's the key why battery don't not lasts more than 30-40 min

However, I think you should try a new battery before checking the motherboard.

  • Satellite P300-172 battery problems

    Hello.

Hope you all had a good Christmas and can hopefully help out me.

    I bought a laptop P300-172 awhile back.
Now, even after the sinking of a large number of power settings, the battery life was poor.

So I ordered a replacement from ebay (part 3rd battery) the battery is identical to the Toshiba battery in everyway of course the only difference is there was not an a toshiba.

in any case, when the battery arrived I plugged it and the battery LED came on to show that he was charging, when I booted up my laptop (with vista) windows showed that there was no battery connected, I thought strange. But I did back and let it load, after an hour or two charging orange led started flashing which it never did.

Still, I booted up vista and windows showed there is no battery connected. I have contcated the seller and assumes that the battery was faulty, as chance would have, he repaid the article and I went back to the normal toshiba battery.

I had another battery, ordered through work and that is identical in every way, once again, except that it was another 3rd party battery and which does exactly the same thing.

    Can anyone help?

I've updated to the latest version of the BIOS (3.9) and have tried many steps as leaving the laptop without the battery for 30 minutes and then insert the battery. update the bios.

Well that's about all I can think and have read through the forums.

I appreciate may give any information you guys! Sorry for the long message.

If I were you I wouldn't assume more battery problems and return the phone to the place of purchase, if you can.

The problem is out of your control, as you have tried multiple batteries. Just give him place of purchase to watch. Then less grief for you.

    Good luck.

  • Satellite L850 - charger / battery problems, not normal...

    Hi all.

First post and all, I had a glance through to see if I can find my particular problem, and I don't think I can.

I posted this in another sub-forum, but then realized it's here... oops!

A L850. It will work fine on battery, but only supplies not the charger cable. Helpfully, a colleague also has an another L850 (I bought two together) so I can charge my battery of separately in his machine.

If I start the machine on a charged battery, it works fine. If you connect then the power adapter, the led is lit on the front of the machine, but it's clearly not load the machine works until the battery is flat and then turns off and will not turn on back until you charge the battery apart and put it back in.

Whenever the machine is powered, it also complains that the RTC battery is flat, and you will need to set the time in the BIOS. It is the coin cell CR2032 internally on the motherboard isn't?

what I don't understand, is that the unit understands clearly that the charger is plugged, as seers to say it is the battery. Except that it isn't, and is not to be unity. Œuvres battery for about 40 minutes of our days, after that, dead machine.

Any ideas? I suppose that there is something wrong with the internal charging circuit, but the fact that the LED lights up when it is plugged suggests otherwise...

    Thanks for all the ideas.

    David.

More information on this type of bit. When it is plugged in, the icon on the screen says "Plugged in, charge", but battery icon animates not charging about 10 seconds, then stops, and battery is clearly not charge as % drops away slowly.

I found a Google one of them is the "remove all, hold for 30 seconds, reconnect power. This made no difference. I also found advice to uninstall the battery from the device manager driver software and allow it to re - install. This done, still no different.

I got the hard drive and in a USB enclosure to retrieve all my files and am doing the 'factory restore' option I think that this is a restore hard disk partition. This work is far away, but in my opinion, is still running on battery only, so do not know if this is going to end!

  • Satellite P10: Discharge battery problem

Hi all. I just bought a P10 and I have a problem with the battery discharges while remaining on the current after being fully charged.

Basically when the battery discharge the machine stops and cannot be restarted successfully until about 1/2 hour of charging.

Surely if the machine is on the battery supply should be go to the opereation of the machine? Virtually all other laptops are not disturbed by the battery then on the sector.

Is there a utility that disables this problem because there is nothing in the bios that is available to select. (BTW, I HAVE ISNTALLED LATEST VERSION OF THE BIOS).
I also blew the hole thing with compressed air just in case there was a problem of overheating.

    Am Running XP Pro 512 MB DDR333Mhz 30Gig HDD 2.6 GHz P4

All this makes me very frustrated and am really starting to regret to have bought the laptop.
I've been a professional for 10 years now and have never experienced such a problem.

Any help, advice, links or the fixes would be greatly appreciated so thank you very much in advance.

    Hello

    It s very strange.
As far as I know the Toshiba power saver control power and cooling procedures.
If the AC adapter is plugged in, the energy saver uses a profile of full power.
If the laptop works with battery energy saver must use another profile with different parameters. You should check what profile is used and the settings for this profile.
Check the CPU and cooling module parameters.

But if this doesn't help then it could be something wrong with the hardware. But it's not easy to say what the problem is. In this case, you must contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. It can start diagnostic tests.

  • Re: Satellite L300D-242 - multiple problems, usb ports, some keys on the keyboard

    Hello

I'm having some problems with my computer laptop sateliite, everything worked fine until I changed the operating system from windows vista to windows 7 and now my USB ports arnt working, sometimes they work and sometimes they are not but its never the same one that works he constantly of the changes, also on my keyboard the game Skip, stop, mute buttons have stopped working.

    Can someone help me please?

    Thank you

    Hello

To get to play, pause and other buttons works, you need to install the VAP (value added package).

The USB ports are controlled by the chipset, so I recommend you to install the chipset driver to get this resolved.

I hope this helps a little

  • Satellite L300D 11V - power problems

My toshiba seems to be charge (amber light) but I can't get the laptop to stay, even if still connected.

It is quite old and battered and I think he's ready to be thrown to be honest! I have the drive c and another player who is present, which is used to back up etc. I think it's our e:drive or unit, I don't know how to remove the hard drive from the computer but will that have both of the drives on the pc in it? or is there another internal hard drive, I need to find?

Thanks a lot for your help!

The reason why I ask, is that if I can't make it work, I would need to get everything on hard drives.

    Hello

    > I don't know how to remove the hard drive from the computer but will that have both of the drives on the pc in it? or is there another internal hard drive, I need to find?

I think that there is only one that HARD drive parted into two partitions.
To my knowledge the first C partition contains system and second partition D contains image files.

However, you should get access to these two partition also connect the HARD drive to the other PC through external USB controller.

With regard to the issue of the battery:
I think that the battery is defective and must be replaced after 400-500 charge cycles, the battery would start to lose performance and it s just a matter of time when you will need to replace it.

  • Satellite L300D begins only after the battery has been drained and recharged

I have a satellite L300D that has a problem at startup. Last week, it closed but got stuck on the "Disconnect" screen for a long time. Finally I manually turn it off by holding down the power button. Don't think no more of him it happened sometimes with my computers. However, when I went to turn it back on - it was nothing. Power lights came to the front of the computer, but not to screen at all. Could not even access the BIOS. Nothing. It was like that for several days.

Tried all the common solutions - removed battery, disconnect the power supply and press the power button - still nothing. Tried w/o - just AC, just the battery. Even stripped down to the motherboard to see if I could remove the CMOS battery and reset the CMOS but it is soldered on the motherboard. Put all back together, still nothing.

Finally, I had to recharge my cell phone using a USB adapter and given that the computer had power I tried the usb port and it worked (for example, I could charge the phone - still no screen on the computer). The computer's battery is dead and I plugged it in. That evening, after the battery was full, I tried the computer and it has perfectly worked. Started correctly, shut it down, restarted and it was fine. Unplugged this night there and reconnected again in the morning and... nothing. Just a black screen. No BIOS.

Killed the battery again then reloaded and now my computer is working again.

Any ideas on what could cause this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Buddy,

In my opinion her only the only one you can is update the BIOS like Akuma suggested. This problem is not related software so that s the only option you have I think. You can download the latest version of the BIOS here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

If this is not the case, contact an authorized service provider please. Guys can fix all this hardware related problems can diagnose this problem. Maybe the motherboard or something else must be exchanged.

    Good luck! :)

  • Satellite L300D-13s - disk drive will eject when booting on battery

When to start my Satellite L300D-13 s on power electric battery drive ejects when starting upwards and then he won t keep any kind of CD, DVD or CD-rom discs however it works fine when starting on the grid.

The battery is fully charged and there is no other reason why it shouldn't t work.
    Can anyone help?

    Windows Vista 32-bit.

    Hello

    > When starting my Satellite L300D-13 on power electric battery of the disk drive ejects when starting upwards and then he won t keep any kind of disc
It's really strange, sometimes it is hard to believe that this would be possible

I m not quote that if the reader of CD/DVD may be affected and cause this problem but nothing is impossible and that's why I think you should talk to the ASP in your country and have to explain the whole story I think guys won't believe something may be possible, but in my opinion the CD/DVD drive must be verified.

  • Satellite L300D does not start on battery, adapter needs to start

    Hello!
I have my Satellite L300D since April last year, and suddenly my laptop does not start when the network adapter is not connected. Says battery 100% (full charge), when I am connected and started the system.

Anyone any idea why my laptop no start on battery alone?

I've already updated the BIOS to version 1.50, but it does not change a thing!

(My warranty until April, so should I send in for service?)

Thank you very much in advance!

    Hello!

In your case I go for a local ASP (authorized service provider) and allow to check your laptop computer of these technicians.
I think that it s a hardware problem, maybe the battery is defective and if you can just start the laptop with AC/DC adapter.

    Good bye

  • Satellite L300D - battery is not full

    Hello.

I have a Satellite L300D (that I bought in March this year) so far, I never had problems with the battery, but since yesterday it s not charging.

I plug the AC and the lights are on, even the battery one orange not fully charged so that it turns yellow when it of ready. Yesterday, it was 31%, I thought I could let it run out and let him go off to load but it didn t work. I tried to load all night yesterday, but nothing seems to happen.

Can it be a battery problem because everything else seems to work fine, the light plugged into the computer is on, and today, I tried with the battery being 0%, it is said that it s load but it remains at 0%. ?

Thank you very much in advance!

    Hello

I m not sure but to me it sounds like a problem of battery and in your case, I would replace the it.

But you can go to an authorized service provider. The laptop must be covered by the guarantee and therefore the repair should be free.
Technicians can check your laptop and exchange the battery or the thing if it of necessary.
Here, you can search an ASP:
