Satellite L40 - 14 d: can't update the BIOS

Hello

I have laptop Satellite L40 - 14 d.
Two months ago, I Flash my BIOS to version 5.40 successfully. But now, if I run updatebios.bat (5.50), the system will reboot, but after 1 second laptop each stop. We did update the BIOS. I tried many version of BIOS for my laptop, but without success.

I have Windows XP installed.
PS: sorry for my bad English, I'm from the Czech Republic.
Thanks for any response.

Hello

First of all I ve an interesting question;
Why do you want to update the BIOS? Various problems with the laptop?
Usually if the laptop run without problem then a BIOS update is not necessary

However, I downloaded the BIOS and first firs winflash.exe file package, I noticed!

First you must uncompress the BIOS correctly.
Then prepare the laptop for the update (AC adapter connected, don t run 3rd party applications and disconnect all external devices).
Finally, you must run the winflash.exe to start the update of the BIOS and NOT the .bat file!

Good bye

    Hi all

I have the problem that my laptop does not start 9 of 10 times with the message: * block 1 BIOS is damaged, call your service man.

I want to update BIOS but for the Satellite Pro 6000 I can only find an update the BIOS from Windows. But my laptop does not start! Rarely the machine starts, but when I try to update the BIOS, I get the message that I already have the latest version of the BIOS

    My questions:
    * Is there a BIOS update file that is a BIOS floppy? (for example the Satellite Pro 6100 has 2 BIOS files, 1 Windows and 1 making a floppy disk)
    * Is it possible to update the BIOS with the same version of Windows?

Or perhaps there is another solution for this problem? Has no need to update my BIOS?

    Thank you.

    Hello

    I agree with Luke.
The rom Bios module seems to be damage.
Either it must be replaced or flashed again.

But you won't be able to do that! The update of the Bios on the Toshiba page focuses on winning and you will not be able to update if the windows are not running.

You last chance is an ASP that could check the BIOS ROM.
As I said, most high, maybe new reflash module Rom help but cela can be answered simply by an ASP technician who checked this.

    NO, you can t!

The bad BIOS or bad BIOS update procedure can damage the motherboard.

I read you first thread and it seems like you get the TPM message because you downgraded the OS from Vista to XP!

    Hello

The question is: why you want to update the BIOS?
    Is there something wrong?

As you know, the BIOS update is a sensitive technique.
My laptop works with old BIOS and I did not upgrade to update even if the new version has been released I didn't update because my camera is ok.

However, it seems that the two series are similar, but I think there are still some minor differences besides the BIOS update should not continues if the wrong version would be selected

    Hello

It seems that Toshiba has released a special version of the BIOS for Windows Vista.
If you want you can check it on the page of the Toshiba driver.

But if your Vista runs correctly on the computer laptop with the previous version of BIOS you n don't need to update the BIOS.
I recommend updating BIOS, if any odd operational behavior will appear.

    Hello

I have a problem with my Toshiba.

2 days ago, I installed a new driver BIOS on the computer. Since then, a laptop computer is running much more slow then normal. I don't know what to do?
I want to get the previous Bios driver but I don't know how to do it and I don't wont to do the biggest problem that I have now.

I chose good driver for my 'machine', Vista 32-bit (http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/eula/info_eng2.asp).
    Can you help me???

I also have one more problem. My cd/dvd drive does not read the cd drive.
Is it possible that the problem is Vista? Because a few months ago, I had a similar problem with cd/dvd player. This day someone we the internet forum advice change me something in (I'm not sure) a registry file.

    Hello

Currently, the European driver Toshiba page provides a Vista 32 bit version of BIOS 2.50.
Don't forget that your BIOS has been updated to 2.50. You can check in the BIOS settings.

In addition, I also recommend setting the default BIOS.
This can be done in the BIOS itself.

But generally it s not easy t say why your laptop is slower. To be honest I don t understand what you mean by running a lot more slow then normal
The laptop starts more slowly? Or what's a problem exactly?

    So now a few tips about you, CD/DVD drives issue;
Yes, sometimes the windows sets some filter values in the registry and this may affect the functionality of CD/DVD drive.

    Check this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=37430&TSTART=0

There you can find the solution.
And here is the link to the useful program that removes these registry values

    Hello

All BIOS for all Toshiba units, you can download from the Toshiba site:
    http://www.toshiba-tro.de/subpage/BIOS.html

But you can not downgrade the BIOS for example: since version 1.2 to 1.1
This is only possible by Toshiba ASP.
In this case, if you want to downgrade the BIOS you should contact the service partner.

  • Split 13 x 2 can't update the bios

I have a new split of HP 13 X 2 computer laptop / tablet. I have upgraded to Windows 8.1. Tried to update the system BIOS but it fails. I have Kaspersky Anti-virus turn off when you run the update and my account is Administrator status. Evry time I try and update the bios, I get an error "failure" and said copy update has failed. What should I do to fix this?

Just flashed manually with a USB key. Appears the utility tries to copy the update to the bios on hp/efi/bios on partition 2, but I can't find how to go from Windows, even with hidden folders to display. The update tool the wish was easier and you can specify where you put the update from version 'dumbed down too low to be useful.

    Steps to Flash manually:

1 use the bios tool to copy the files to a recovery USB drive. It will create a Hewlett-Packard folder. In BIOS and the BIOS update, but the update f19 falls within the bios/current.

    2. with your PSU AC plugged, reboot the computer. Once the screen goes black, start hitting ESC.

    3. even if it seems you can arrow down and press ENTER to select F2, press the F2 key... without the function key.

    4. Insert the USB key, select the firmware, bios update, select the usb drive and navigate to the folder of the bios/current.

    5. you will be asked if you want to update the current bios of 16 to 19. Click bios update (forget what it actually says) and sit down and let it do its thing.

    6. restart. If you have enabled as I do of bitlocker, now you must pick up the keys. After that is done, then you have a F19 X 2.

Have not used enough to see if 19 solves this problem of the touchpad, but refuse to do workaround above.

  • Satellite M30 - user not allowed to update the BIOS

I have a Satellite M30 (204, according to me, model 60 GB 1.6 GHz) and I try to update the BIOS but get the error message the "the user is not allowed to update the bios. The reason why I'm trying to update it is I just bought a 250 GB hard drive, but the BIOS does recognize that 128 GB and I guess the most up-to-date BIOS will allow the drives of this size, although I have not found any documentation for precise to say so be it.

Someone at - it a patch to update the BIOS (I don't think I have a usb floppy drive drive anywhere) or to access the full capacity in other ways? Thank you.

    Hello

could you please tell me what operating system you´re to help? I guess that Windows Xp...

Usually, the update of the BIOS routine has absolutely NOTHING to do with the capacity of your hard disk drive. You are working with a limited user account? If not, I suggest right clicking on the BIOS update file and choose the option "Run as..". Subsequently a windows pop up and you ask under which user you want to run this program. Click on the "Next user" radio button and choose the administrator. If you have a password for your admin account and then type in, otherwise it should start automatically.

  • Can I update the bios with software for windows vista?

I have a HP Pavilion a1747c desktop computer and I need to update BIOS for virtualization technology. However the update the BIOS only supports Windows Vista, and I have Windows 7. Can I still updated it somehow?

Yes, you may be able to extract the actual BIOS file of the installation package compressed and use a flash routine appropriate for flashing BIOS under another operating system, but you do so at your own risk. Any damage to your computer by using this process is at your own risk and you take responsibility for it.

  • How can I update the BIOS without using a CD?

    Hello!

I recently decided to update my RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB. After installation, I started my computer to find that it would not recognize the new memory. After doing some troubleshooting, I decided to try to update the BIOS, like the 2010 version. I have downloaded the update to the BIOS boot CD implementation of lenovo, burned a disk and restarts, I found that the boot order has no CD contained thereon. Here's the catch: I do not have the supervisor password. It is a mobile phone in hand, and I tried to find the password nothing is done. It's the current boot order: USB key, hard drive.

My question is, can I create a BIOS update disk using a USB key, or update the BIOS of another way?

I understand that it is impossible to recover the supervisor password without having served (that I prefer to not do, even if I have to return my Crucial RAM)

    My system features:

    ThinkPad L512

    BIOS version: 1.04

    BIOS date: 2010-3-26

    Controller of Embeded Version: 1.01

    Windows 7 32 bit

    Thanks for your help.

    Welcome to the forum!

    Two things here:

    (a) If you run the system update, it should offer the latest BIOS for your machine as well. I never did on a protected device, so it may or may not work, but perhaps worth it.

    (b) I doubt the ability of the system to recognize the new RAM has something to do with the BIOS. Much older than your ThinkPads will take place 4-8 GB of RAM with an old BIOS, older than your machine initially.

    Good luck.

  • How can I update the BIOS without windows on V3 - 372

I bought an ACER V3-372-57CW and refuses the computer at startup (the Green ACER splash screen at boot EFI appear same) when my Tablet WACOM Intuos 4 (if not fully functional) is inserted any USB port. Customer service Acer not recognize wanted to nor register the question so my last hope is that a BIOS update will solve the problem.

I'm used to the manufacturers supplying utilities executable flash BACK running under FreeDOS etc but for the Acer V3 - 372, I can only find an executable for Windows 10. Of course, uninstalling the entire system just for the update of the BIOS is not a viable option.

Is it possible to get either one executable for the update of the BIOS BACK or something that could be used from within Linux (with EFI)?

    Thank you

    Masquilier,

At the present time, I have installed on my Windows computer.  If someone were to tell me that I needed to install another operating system to update the BIOS, I don't think it was a big deal.  I would like to...

    1. create a system with the Windows image backup

2 clean the clean disk with 'diskpart '.

    3. install any OS they told me that I had to install.

    4. update of the BIOS

    5. after updating the BIOS, I would just wipe the drive with diskpart and restore my Windows system image.

    6. it would take me less than 45 minutes to accomplish steps 1 through 5.  Probably about 30 minutes to be honest.

Use my logic.  Except that I'm not a Linux expert and don't know how to do what I tell you with Linux.  Just google it.  I see that some people use clonezilla, but I don't know there is a command to do the same.

Check with the Ubuntu forum and tell them what you need to do and I'm sure it's possible.

Important note: own Diskpart is priceless, if you n-front-rear of switching between the old modes and UEFI... or deleting partitions... or clean installation of an OS.  However, make sure that you don't accidentally wipe the bad drive (drive).  Be careful.  There is step-overs.

  • How can I update the Bios because of the question "plugged in, not load?

I have a gateway computer, and all of a sudden I'm not into error on my charge battery.  I tried all the things people have mentioned in previous posts except to put updated my bios.  Gateway who told me to update them, but their steps did not make sense.  I downloaded the new software on a cd.  But from this point, that do I flash/update the bios?  I tried to start the computer with the disc, but it did not work.  Any help would be appreciated.

    I have three files

    BACK: Has Criskisk.zip, aceracdc.exe, phlash16, a rom and a wph file.

Then I have a 32 Winflahs record and a record 64 winflash.  It looks like these have wflash mfc applications.

So I think I have it all, just do not know what to click on and when.

    Hi ski2xtc,

This would happen if the adapter is faulty or the charger on the motherboard component does not work.

To update the BIOS to the latest version, you will need to contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer for more information.

You can try to change the laptop battery and check if it charges properly.

  • System freeze when it is opened the tool update BIOS, how can I update the BIOS?

I'm trying to update the BIOS on my 14 (1016tx) want.

I downloaded the latest BIOS from the HP website and open it, the dialog box has 2 buttons only start at 1, output 2

Click 1 start, then another dialog box pops up saying not to stop your computer blablabla... and asks me to confirm, OK or cancel

However, all input devices have no answer at this time. No keyboard, touchpad, usb mouse no longer works. USB ports seem to be put off, since the light on my usb key is off.

The power button does not work neither. I continue to press it for about 1 minute, just can't turn off the machine and I have to remove the power cord and the battery to stop the crazy fan.

p.s. I just installed the operating system. (Windows 7 Professional 64-bit) until I try to update the BIOS.

    Thanks for the quick response.

I managed to fix everything on time. It seems that the problem was caused by the absence of HP_TOOL partition on my hard drive.

I downloaded the UEFI BIOS HP update and installed it, he created a partition of 2 GB HP_TOOL for me, and then the BIOS update tool work (it will restart the computer to update the UEFI BIOS and BIOS update).

P.S. Just wonder why HP releases suck a stupid tool. If it relies on a HP_TOOL partition, it should just say that instead of drive the crazy fan and disable all buttons!
