Satellite L40 - 15G - CPU upgrade question

Hello!

I want to change the processor in my laptop with an intel t2310 (1.46 Ghz/1 MB cache) and I tried with a t7200 intel but is not worked.
Can someone tell me what processors installed in the laptop.

Thank you
Hugo

Hello

You can only use the CPU that is supported by the chipset and BIOS.
As far as I know the computer Satellite L40/EQUIUM L40/Satellite Pro L40/Satellite L45 is equipped with a processor Intel Pentium Duo or Intel Celeron M Processor.

These processors were built in:

Pentium processor (533 MHz) Duo clocked at 1.6 GHz (T2060) 1.73 GHz (T2080) / 1.86 GHz (T2090) / 1.86 GHz (T2130)

and

Celeron processor (533 MHz) 1.73GHz GHz 1.86 M (430)

I think you can use these processors.

The processor I have now is the i3 330

I want to spend to i7
Is this possible and can you link me where to buy the right one which suitable to my laptop

    > Is it possible?
Perhaps, in the case of the new processor would be supported by the BIOS and chipset, you ve got a good chance to upgrade the processor.
But Toshiba but also other laptop manufacturers don t support these updates and so everything you do is at your own risk!

First I would recommend you to get information about your chipset. Intel ARK page you might check what processors would be supported by the chipset.
Fact is that this series of mobile were equipped with the Intel Dual Core CPU Intel Arrandale CPU family. In case you really want to try a new processor, I suggest you to choose one of this family.

But beware: even if chipset would support the new processor, the BIOS can be one of the parties causing disorders. Unfortunately I haven't found any information which processors can be taken in charge by the BIOS

  • Re: Satellite A100-803 - CPU Upgrade question

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-803 at the moment. There is an Intel Core 2 Duo T5200 inside and it is a bit slow. Also, it does not support VT - x extensions.

My idea is to build a simple hobby-server which should run Gentoo with Xen on it. I can buy an Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, but there are two things I'd like to know.

1 the bios does support the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600?
    2. If she supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, is it possible to use VT - x extensions?

    > 1. The bios supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600?
It is not known to me, but you should check if the chipset supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600. If the chipset does not support this CPU you can not use this CPU in your A100. But if the chipset would support the new CPU then you ve good chances to use this component.

    > 2. If she supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, is it possible to use VT - x extensions?
Hmm, that's a good question; as far as I know the BIOS must support the feature VT - x to use it of course the CPU must support this too so I think that VT - x should be available if the update for Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 would be successful

  • Satellite L30-134 CPU upgrade question - running at 800 Mhz & 1300 Mhz

    Hi guys,.

I recently updated my 1.4 for the Core Duo T5500 processor to give it more omff.
I've updated the aswell of RAM with a 1 GB. It's worked well. Its now to 1.5 GB of RAM.

The laptop goes off well and works well, the processor only runs at 800 mhz on each core occasionally he jumps up to 1300 mhz.
I know what I downloaded CPUZ. I also tried to use old clockgen and the new version and it does not work.
I also tried to use the NHC and no luck.

I can't the voltage to run right or shift gears using clockgen. Also when I go into the Bios I can not change anything here either.
I'm new to computer talk so the answers will have to be dumbed down for me in laymens terms.

I'm shaw I read a post on the net saying they have this processor running at L30 - 134 here and it works great but can't seem to find him.
I'm I shoot me in the foot, or can I get it to work?

    Hey Buddy

I think that there is nothing wrong with your laptop or with the central unit.
Is the processor Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T5500 supports Enhanced Intel Speedstep _ technology and this is the reason why the speed of the CPU is not constantly running at 1.66 GHz.

Please check this document on Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology Intel
    http://www.Intel.com/CD/channel/reseller/ASMO-na/Eng/203838.htm

_It said: _ + Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology allows the system to dynamically adjust the frequency of voltage and core processor, which can translate into a reduction in average energy consumption and decreases the average heat production.

I think this should clarify everything!

  • Problems of updating BIOS on Satellite L40 - 15G

    Good afternoon.

    I have Toshiba Satellite L40 - 15G and I want to put 4 GB of ram (2 x 2).
It works with 3 GB but with 4 GB it just does not start - gives me a blue screen.

I read on the internet and discovered that I have to update my BIOS (my version curent is 1.60).
I have vista 32 bit. I also tried to do the update via the site of toshiba, but without success.
I am running the .exe file, but when I restart the computer I have the same version.

    What should I do?

In the hope of a response.

    Hello

I think you are using an incorrect BIOS.
Satellite L40 - 15 G seems to belong to the series of PSL48E

    Check again!

Toshiba Europe page provides a BIOS 2, 00-VICTORY for Vista and WIN-5, 50 for Win XP

    Regarding the upgrade of memory:
I don't know if your laptop would be m supports 4 GB of RAM. Is that there are different models of L40 and some models supports only 2 GB of RAM!

Your L40 - 15 G seems to use the Mobile Intel GL960 Express Chipset...
Check out the details on the Intel page which RAM max can be managed by the Intel GL960 Express Chipset.

    Hello.

I have a Satellite L40 - 15G that will not start. I click the power button, or with the battery, and only the power led alternately. I can open and close the cd/dvd, but nothing else works. No beeps when I remove the memory, the hard drive led blinks even. I tried with another hard drive, and it's the same thing.

Could this be the motherboard, the processor?

    Appreciate the help!

    Hello

Unfortunately, it looks like a hardware malfunction. I guess that it s related to the motherboard or perhaps CPU, if you have already tried another memory module.

You should go to an authorized service provider. Guys have good diagnostic tools to check your laptop and repair. In addition, they can order spare parts Toshiba.

  • Satellite Pro L20-PSL25E - CPU upgrade question

    Hello

I upgraded the ram last year and im running high-performance for my model, 2.0 GB.

This really helped for awhile, but after a few heavy programs have been installed this year (only one software, one game) ive noticed it running slow as before, its worth noting that my computer has adopted all the necessary specifications for both outside the game where im working on 1.7 ghz and it needs the least 2.0 ghz processor , and I'm short on speed slowest peformance of the game itself.

The vehicle has currently a centrino pentium, keeping in mind a new portable computer is not in my budget, is it worth getting a new processor and which would be best?

    Thanks again, Rebecca.

    Hello

My personal opinion is that Satellite L20 is not designed for heavy operations and is certainly not game machine. If you compare the price of Satellite and Satellite L laptops you'll understand why. I'm sure that this laptop is designed for Internet, office and simple every day activities.

Upgrading RAM is very good and I'm sure it helps a lot but CPU upgrade is not the solution. Update CPU is not supported. You must also understand that each hardware platform is designed for optimal physical activity. Processor, graphics, cooling system and other hardware components must work without overheating and harmonic. Stronger CPU means more heat.

In my opinion you should optimize operating system preinstalled software hoping you use will work better and more stable.

  • Satellite A50: Engraver of DVD & CPU upgrade questions

Hi how far can upgrade my A 50 1.5 ghz centrino and Motherboard can't cos 1.5 dual-core is really not enough for me any more. I know there are a lot of problem on cpu upgrade but I need just to answer far?

I also change my DVD burner to +/-dvd burner, and how I can do it. I also heard that toshiba recalls batery and I saw my model of laptop also on this list.

    Hello

Unfortunately, but I don t think that the motherboard will support the new Dual Core CPU.
It is a technology simply different and you should also know that the CPU upgrade on laptops is not very easy as on the desktop PC.
AFAIK the A50 was delivered with different processors and must be compatible with the bus of 400 Mhz Intel Pentium M 1.5/1.6/1.7Ghz and bus of 400 Mhz Intel Celeron M 1.2/1.3/1.4Ghz.

Anyway, as far as I know Toshiba doesn't support updates and you will not find any official information about updates and upgrade problems.
I think that the biggest problem could be the highest temperature, BIOS and chipset compatibility. Furthermore it possible to some Toshiba tools such as energy saving does not work and the product overheats.

If you want to upgrade or replace the CD/DVD drive, so I recommend that you first contact the service partner Toshiba for devices compatible and taken in charge.
This is important because not all readers are supported by the BIOS.
Portable players are set to master/slave or C - salt that is why it is very important that you will buy a drive to right. Drive with bad settings is not recognized by the BIOS, and there is no chance to change the master/slave or c - salt settings!

    Now something of the battery:
Well, I read on the page Toshiba that only some laptops which were manufactured between March and May 2006 are affected.
I recommend to check this site Web from Toshiba of the FAQ for more details:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=FAQ_BATTERY_EN

    I hope I could help

    Good bye

  • Upgrade memory on Satellite L40 - 15G

    I have a Toshiba L40 - 15G with 1 GB of ram (2x512MB) DDR2. He works at a frequency of 266 Mhz.
I want to switch to 2 GB of ram going 2x1GB sticks or stick of 2 GB.

However, I don't know if the 2 GB key is accepted on a slot.
Should I buy a 2 GB key or 2 sticks of 1 GB?

And, if the frequency of the new sticks can be higher? like 800 Mhz / 500 Mhz?

    Post edited by: Ruixituh

    Hello

Depends on the frequency of memory on the FSB (front side bus) chipset
If the FSB is limited to 266 Mhz, then your modules will work only with 266 Mhz even modules support a faster speed.

As far as I know the laptop supports the Intel GL960 Express Chipset.
This chipset runs max 2 GB of RAM, so you can use modules of 2 x 1 GB RAM only.

I thing the chipset will handle 533 Mhz

  • Satellite L40 15G - Touchpad behaves erratically

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite L40 laptop 15G, and recently, I am aware that the cursor has not correctly when using the Touchpad.

That I usually use a mouse with my laptop with absolutely NO problems, I do not know how long the touchpad works wrong.

According to the specifications of the system, the speed controller is labeled Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad, 10.0.3.0 Version.
Well, it is the last in use, because since I have detected the anomaly, I tried a lot of Synaptics Touchpad drivers with no result.

However, I have tried this [workaround | http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Keyboards-Touchpads/Solved-Synaptic-Touchpad-not-working/m-p/272949#M10565] and the Touchpad seemed to work properly. But for just 30 seconds after the startup process in Windows environment?  :|. After that, the cursor slowly begins to act erratically.
After a second reboot, the slider have the same erratic behavior as before, using the touchpad.
In Safe Mode, the problem is the same.

The only way to recreate the same "normal" cursor using touchpad behavior done this workaround mentioned before.

Note: in all cases, the buttons on the keypad two touchscreen works perfectly. If the mouse USB.

Can someone give me some clues to solve this problem?
    Thank you very much!

I guess that your touchpad module his/her.
The solution described seems to be only a time option in case the touchpad would stop working due to some problems in the system.
But in your case, it looks like a hardware problem.

  • Satellite M60 - issue CPU upgrade

    Hello out there!

    I am a happy owner of a Satellite M60.
I recently installed Win7 pro and nothing works well.

I was offered a new processor Intel M770 and
now, I would like to hear if anyone has any experience changin processor in a laptop.

The M770 have on the same specsas M740 and executes the same 915 chipsets. M770 has a 2.13 Ghz clock and the M740 1.73 revival.

If I swap the processors, my laptop will get faster, or it will explode like a hurricane and disappear into a smokecloud?

    Best regards
    Mogens

    > The M770 have on the same specsas M740 and executes the same 915 chipsets. M770 has a 2.13 Ghz clock and the M740 1.73 revival.

Well, generally the CPU upgrade is a really complicated because of the compatibility of the BIOS history, but I think you have a good chance to get the laptop working with new CPU M770. It belongs to the same family of CPU as the old CPU and chipsets support is the same.
In addition, I think that this laptop overheating not using this CPU of course there is more the dissipation of heat thanks to the fastest performance, but I think that the cooling modules should handle this

Of course, it s just my opinion personal and everything what you would do is at your own risk.

    Good luck
