Satellite L500-1z1 - virtual memory problem

I need help.

I have switched side bar indicator to see the cpu usage and memory. I noticed that the memory runs at 85%. I was told to put the processor for the four cores. Now, the cpu runs at 0.4% to 23% and the memory usage is always the same. I thought about the formatting of the laptop, but then I lose my operating system and the backup with the laptop is a downgrade.

I need to know what I should change to operate normally.
wise on the C drive memory I have 149 gb of which 87.9 GB is free. D I have 148 GB which 131 GB is free.

the paging file size is 4096 MB for all readers.

> I need to know what I should change to operate normally.
Each laptop comes with OS preinstalled and each run normal. Problem is that many people do some experiments and plays with different settings and try, I think, increase the performance of s for laptop.
Unfortunately sometimes it goes in the wrong direction.

To be honest I didn t understand the current situation. can you use pre-installed OS or you want to install it using recovery disc HARD option - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm?

  • How can I disable secure on my Satellite L500-1Z1 start?

    Hello!

I need to install FreeBSD on my laptop. But I can't find in the BIOS how can I disable secure boot.
Please, help me. How can I disable startup secure on my laptop?

Thank you! Sorry for my English!

    Hello

Satellite L500-1Z1 BIOS doesn't support secure boot.
That's why starting secure isn't turned on or off and it should be possible to install any system.

  • Satellite L500 - 20 X - screen problems

    Hello

first of all, I would like to apologize for the case that I couldn't be very good to use this forum. I'm new and have never used any before support forum. And English is not my mother tongue.

I use a Toshiba Satellite L500 - 20 X. For some time, the performance of the screen got worse. All started with interference bands who were there for a second or two and then vanished again. Now, I have to put the screen at an angle to get a decent picture, at all. If I didn't, there is interference stripes all the time.

What I have gathered, it seems that the display cable is most likely the cause. So I have two questions: do you not think? And, if so, how do I know which cable I need to replace the (possibly) broken?

    Thanks so far!

So I have two questions: do you not think? And, if so, how do I know which cable I need to replace the (possibly) broken?

As I know there is only one flat cable which is connected to the screen, as well as the motherboard.
But I can't say for sure that the cable is the troublemaker... it could be the cable problem, but that's just an assumption...
In any case, I think that the laptop must be disassembled in order to know if it's really a problem of cable and a disassembly of the laptop can be very difficult if you have no instructions detailed step by step.

  • Satellite L500-1XU - FN keys problems

    Hello!

Since I bought my laptop (Satellite L500-1XU), I have a problem with my keyboard I can't understand.
It happens that without + Toshiba added economic package for Win7-32 bit + ([this version | http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/download.jsp?ct=DL&soid=2485090&ref=EV]) some work of combinations of FN (such as the ESC, F1, F3, F5, F6, F7) but the rest of them do not work.

So, I install PVAT and now none of them work. If I click on any flash card it makes his work, but the key to refuse commands to work.

My guess is that the PVAT version I use is incompatible with my laptop model: http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/9746/satellitel500.jpg
But I can't find the right version. So I ask for your help.

If you have any ideas please press on answer.

    Thank you for advice!

    Hello

Your laptop belongs to the series of Satellite L500 PSLJFE.
Go to the page of European Toshiba driver and download the VAP and card utility for Satellite L500 PSLJFE flashing support.

    This should help!

Otherwise you have some registry problems and in this case, you must clean the registry with CCleaner for example
This free tool cleans the BONES once you should install VAP and Flash cards again.

    Welcome them

  • Virtual memory problem?

    Hello

I run Vista 32 bit on a Dell laptop (Core 2 Duo T8300 2.40 GHz with 4 GB of RAM installed to)
On a laptop earlier under XP, I have improved performance with virtual memory on a form different disk with the operating system.
So, I tried to use the same option on my Vista laptop.

I have the following problems / symptoms:

    (1) SearchIndexer.exe continously uses 50 to 70% of CPU (but it doesn't seem to be the disk activity hard anycontinueous)

    (2) Microsoft Outlook 2007 does not start. I just get the blue white screen with the yellow tone of Outlook 2007, and then he hangs up. One is to close to complete the process via the Task Manager
The next time I try to start, it displays the option to start in safe mode. If I do, Outlook 2007 starts OK (I do not know what to do with Outlook in safe mode to correct things if :-()

    (3) IE8 starts and seems to operate normally (though slower). However, whenever I restart IE8 it displys the warning that IE8 last time ended abnormally and provides options to start with the last URL used either with normal start page

Trying to catch exactly what I have done and in what order, I'm not really sure that Outlook was closed when I changed the location of the virtual memory to 100%.

I know I probably screwed up a kind of grand, and I only hope that there is a way to get the thing corrected without having to reinstall everything from scratch.

I tried to use this last system restore point, but the restoration doesn't go through, because of an unspecified problem.
I ran the diagnostics Office option. Who reported no problems.
I have reset virtual memory on OS drive, leaving the size and location of control Vista.

Grateful for any help or suggestion in order to avoid a complete reinstallation. Editing the registry?

It should not. In fact, I would recommend keeping the virtual memory (swap file) on the HDD main and just allowing advanced performance of the drive in the Device Manager.

You can go to Device Manager, expand the category of 'Hard drives', right-click you primary hard drive > properties, click the 'Policies' tab and select 'Advanced Performance' at the bottom.

The deactivation of the service should not affect your other programs unless they use the Windows Service of Indexer to search for things. As for example, Outlook uses the indexer to allow you to quickly search through your mail. The key word is quickly. Outlook can return to the default search is slower, but really what the majority of users have been used anyway.

  • Satellite L500 - 1 7 battery problem

    Hi all

I recently bought a new laptop, the Satellite L500 - 1 7. It works well except that I have a question: I am aware of the fact, that the battery lasts about 2-2, 5 hours. But is it normal to make the computer stop when the sign of the battery watch 22% (happens after about 2.25 hours)? Then, as soon as I put in the power cable, the battery sign indicates suddenly 5%.
Is - this usual or something wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

At first, I must say that 2.5 hours working time on battery power is really great and it is the same with my Satellite A300.

To be honest, the whole story is a bit strange to me. Usually before the laptop shuts you should hear and see battery alarm when the critical power level is reached.
Please try to change these settings in the advanced power settings and watch what is happening exactly. Set it to 10 or 15% and also the settings what should happen when the critical threshold is reached (Standby/Hibernate / OFF switching).

If the critical level is 5%, I can't imagine the laptop turns off 22% without this battery alarm message.
How do you know that's going to happen on 22% when the laptop turns off suddenly?

  • Satellite L500 - keyboard arrows using problems creates letters and numbers

New laptop, Windows 7, 4 GB RAM, etc.

Just restored to the State of factory again, but nothing helped.

Whenever I have use arrows etc., makes the letters and numbers coming up, not on every key shot but on say every second. The pad also tends to spit out the wrong numbers so intermittently, in word, excellent and other programs. The correct keyboard is selected. The arrow towards the low tends to do the to come as the right arrow brought a up arrow to the left is and the up arrow seems ok.

    I'm stumped, any ideas?
    Thank you

    Hi whatnani,

If you have already restored the laptop back to factory settings and checked the correct keyboard layout the case is clear, your keyboard is faulty and should be replaced by a new one.

Satellite L500 is a fairly new model, so it must be covered by the warranty. Simply contact an authorized service provider and ask that:

    Good luck! :)

  • Satellite L500-164 - has the touchpad scrolling feature?

    Hello
I am interested in buying the laptop L500-164.

Can someone tell me if this phone has a touchpad with scroll function?
And so, only the page down, or "from left to right?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Yes, the Satellite L500 supports virtual scrolling.

But that's why you need the driver for the touchpad, this feature is software based on other laptops. It is not a problem because the driver is already preinstalled and more you can download on the page of Toshiba. :)

Fun with a new Satellite L500. A friend bought me too and it s really great and the price is also good.

  • Satellite L500 - heating power cord

    Hi all

I have a Satellite L500 with a heating problem. When in the course of use, the power adapter gets extremely hot, if the battery is in or out. So much so, that melted the case around the adapter. My first thought is that it's the cord itself which is defective and will buy a replacement for it. If not, should what other things I look for?

    Thank you

-Cord becomes very hot * with * or * without * battery
    -fans and vents were cleaned
-the heat is in an area around the power adapter

    > the heat is in an area around the power adapter
It of difficult to say what's wrong or if something is wrong.
I have two laptops Toshiba and the area around the plug of AC adapter is not warm or hot.

But in the worst case, it could be a problem with the power supply or the broken cable
Maybe you should try a genuine Toshiba AC adapter and another, good work.

  • Satellite L500: webcam shows a group's default image - do not live photo

I have Toshiba Satellite L500 and im having problems with my Webcam. It could be very simple to fix, but for the life of me can not understand!

I click on photograph, and when it goes in the capture screen it will not display a live peak.
Instead, it shows just a default image of a group of people looking at the ocean.

If you click on capture or just record, he captures or records this image instead of what came the web should see. If you remove all the image in the preview screen it still shows this one photo!

The laptop is less then a year old and I rarely use the webcam. This problem has only just begun.

The webcam has already displayed a live picture.

    Help, please!

  • Satellite L500-164 - keyboard must change in English or Greek

    Hello

I am a student in Germany now and I was thinking of buying the Satellite L500-164.
The problem is, in all stores, you can buy it only with the German keyboard I completely hate.

Is it possible to change it to an English (or Greek)?
How much will it cost? How long will it take?
I thought to buy directly from Toshiba, but they don't sell, so I guess I'm stuck with buying it and immediately send it to the service of change of keyboard?

Y at - it stores that sell with English keyboard or can change on demand?

    Thank you very much

    > I thought to buy directly from Toshiba, but they don't sell, so I guess I'm stuck with buying it and immediately send it to the service of change of keyboard?
Well, this will be a solution the other would be to buy a Satellite L500 to the United Kingdom to get a keyboard with English layout.

You could try to order it from some online retailers. There are enough shops online that provides Toshiba laptops

  • Satellite L500 - cannot run the DVD-ROM games

I am currently having problems with my Toshiba Satellite L500 series. The problem is, I can run purchased audio CD, as well as DVDs of the films, but I can't run games DVDrom. Music CD will automatically start Media Player very well, as well as films in their corresponding players... Games (like Dragon Age Origins and Left 4 Dead) DVD - ROM cannot read, or be recognized. When I go to "Computer" and try to access the game, it says "no available disk. Please insert disc into drive D: ". So from what I understand, the CD/DVD-rom may not be completely broken if he reads all types, except for games to DVDrom.

Can someone help me with this please! It is quite frustrating because my computer is just now to a year! I wouldn't think that all computer companies sell computers that fall apart after a year... I was hoping that it was different with Toshiba.

Once more, the CD/DVD-ROM can read CD and DVD of the film, but NOT the games to DVDrom. Help, please! Thanks in advance!

    Hi adecker,.

Maybe it s caused due the upper and lower filters in the registry. You should try to remove as you can read in this article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314060

I had a similar problem that some discs can't be read more. And I went thorugh based forum to clean the CD/DVD drive lens with a microfibre cloth. Be careful if you do this and don't scratch the lens.
    Check this box!
