Satellite L500 - cannot run the DVD-ROM games

I am currently having problems with my Toshiba Satellite L500 series. The problem is, I can run purchased audio CD, as well as DVDs of the films, but I can't run games DVDrom. Music CD will automatically start Media Player very well, as well as films in their corresponding players... Games (like Dragon Age Origins and Left 4 Dead) DVD - ROM cannot read, or be recognized. When I go to "Computer" and try to access the game, it says "no available disk. Please insert disc into drive D: ". So from what I understand, the CD/DVD-rom may not be completely broken if he reads all types, except for games to DVDrom.

Can someone help me with this please! It is quite frustrating because my computer is just now to a year! I wouldn't think that all computer companies sell computers that fall apart after a year... I was hoping that it was different with Toshiba.

Once more, the CD/DVD-ROM can read CD and DVD of the film, but NOT the games to DVDrom. Help, please! Thanks in advance!

Hi adecker,.

Maybe it s caused due the upper and lower filters in the registry. You should try to remove as you can read in this article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314060

I had a similar problem that some discs can't be read more. And I went thorugh based forum to clean the CD/DVD drive lens with a microfibre cloth. Be careful if you do this and don't scratch the lens.

    Ok
complete failure of the hard drive, no recovery cd was created, reloaded windows 7, looked up and downloaded the drivers from Toshiba, BUT there are only two video drivers listed, amd and Intel, both marked "for model only supported" its an Intel machine so I tried the Intel driver but it doesn't install, it just closes which I believe if the corresponding material is not found is the default action for these drivers.

But I'm stuck with 'standard VGA graphics adapt' all other drivers loaded perfectly, (I installed the driver from chipset Intel first and rebooted, so it should be ok but it s not)

    Any ideas?

  • Satellite L500 - cannot activate the WLAN on FN + F8

Hello to all users of Toshiba, Ii'm new to computers laptop Toshiba, this one beeing my 1st and iIhave a well-known problem, I read on the internet.

I recently bought a Satellite L500-13W. It has Realtek Wifi and comes with Vista OS. I deleted Vista OS since I have the license to the retail of Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 top intalled. All work well, Audio, video, everything outside the wireless card. I enabled from the BIOS and everything and yet when I press FN + F8 it does not activate. The drivers are properly installed, as Windows 7 brings the upgrade of drivers. He said that the card works fine, but it does not turn on and search for Wifi signals. The Orange of the WIFI led does illuminate not.

If anyone has a solution for this problem, I would be very grateful. I don't know what can be the problem, the software or the hardware.

    Advice me please. Thank you.

    Hi Darius1990,

    > Drivers are properly installed, as Windows 7 brings upgrade drivers
This means that you have installed the Windows update WIFI driver and no official site of Toshiba, right?
Well, in this case, I would try the prétestées WLAN driver from Toshiba. So you can make sure that it s not a WLAN driver related problem. Just check the WLAN from Toshiba Portal:

  • Vista cannot run the DVD.

My laptop dvd ROM can't open a dvd disc more. It allows to be able to do in the past, but now all of a sudden, he can't. When I go to Device Manager, there are two pilots, even if I only have one dvd rom. One is a dvd driver, (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4084N ATA Device). When you go to the properties for this device, under Details of the device is listed as a CD Rom, even if it is a dvd rom. The other list driver is YDSPIZ SDAZGLY3 SCSI CdRom Device. Is is also referred to as a CD Rom Drive. I used Microsoft's Fix It, it did not help, I did the regedit, it did not work. I don't know what else there is to do. I know that it is a driver issue, as the dvd player itself really works.

  • Satellite L650D - cannot use the DVD player because of incessant incitement

Hello, I couldn't find any other thread regarding this so I hope it's an old problem solved for a long time but which strike me now however.

I insert a dvd into the disc drive, and while the digitization of content in Explorer, I got a prompt appears informing me that the disc is not accessible writing and to insert a writable disc. It then auto allows to eject the disk I want to run. This goes on and on and it is impossible for me to install the VST plug ins that I desperately need installed.

I was using my PC to set up files on USB to install this way, but I figure I paid a lot of money for this laptop and deserve to have it behave correctly.

    Hi redmg,

The FN keys are controlled by value added and Flash Cards Support utility package. So if you can use t FN keys correctly reinstall these two tools of Toshiba. You can download on the official page of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

But remove older versions before installing the new versions.

After that all FN keys should work properly again.

    Hello

What type of DVD you are using?
There are different models of Satellite A40, but I guess that all use the same drive.
I checked the properties of the DVD player and according to this information, the Player supports these media:
    (Read/write) CD - R, CD - RW (read/re-write), CD-ROM, DVD - ROM, DVD-R (read only), DVD - RW (read only), DVD - RAM (read-only)

If you use the+ DVD so there could be a problem with reading.

I built my computer motherboard ASUS P658D, Intel i7 processor clocked at 2.6 gHz, 12 GB RAM, 750W Corsair PWR. power, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit & ie9. When I put or the other two DVDs in one of two DVD players, Windows Media Center appears and when I click on "Play DVD" Media Center give me a window that says:

"Windows Media Center cannot detect a DVD in the DVD - ROM drive. Insert a video DVD in the drive." Two DVDs, I've tried are educational for DVD

my Nikon D300 Digital camera and a family video DVD or both these very well play in a bed of same computer running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, & ie8.

I tried Microsoft Fixit, no help. I tried to send Microsoft Support, and I got NO HELP. I did not bring any changes, and installed any program, just

scoured the internet. A DVD player is a Sony Optarc with Microsoft Driver, the other is ASUS. I also tried to use Windows Media Player but nothing

rises or it returns me to Windows Media Center and it does not detect to play either of my DVD. How can I get help here, or from Microsoft? Thank you.

No, there is no yellow warning in Device Manager and the device manager says that two DVD players work properly. Mr. Fix it's

automated download from microsoft that is supposed to automatically fix some problems, but he provided no help here. I think it is more likely

that there is a problem with Windows Media Center or Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and either of my two new Sony DVD drives

    and ASUS.

I thought my way in a solution. My thought was: Device Manager indicates DVD players work properly and both are new and we're Sony, and the other ASUS so I think only an unlikely problem with readers. The problem is with Windows Media Center "do DETECTED is not the DVD. So there must be a problem with Windows Media Center. I thought that I might need to reinstall Windows 7... then I thought that maybe if I just reinstall Windows Media that will work. He did. My problem was:

Start > Panel > programs and features > features on or off Windows activate > then uncheck the box for multimedia functions > restart the computer > and then re-check the box to restore the multimedia features > now both discs play both DVDs, I tried. Both disks are operating normally. Reinstall the characteristics of media Windows 7 resolved the problem. Thanks to all who offered solutions.

There is no such thing as a pilot for ODD (optical disc drive). It uses the standard Microsoft driver. Try please remove the disc from the Device Manager, then restart the laptop. After reboot the ODD will be detected and installed it again. Check please if the problem persists.

If yes I recommend you to install the driver for DVD-RAM (DVDForm Utility). You can find it on the download page of Toshiba. I use the 3.0.9.0a version. and it works perfectly.

  • Satellite A200 - 23P - mechanic of DVD - rom does not

I'm sorry for my English in advance this topic! -Thank you

I have a very big problem with my engraver of DVD (RM).
    I bought SAT A200 - 23P three weeks ago.
The Win VISTA operating system has been installed. DVD - rom worked well.

If I have installed Win XP to the second partition on my HARD drive (to install the disk with driver for sata drive in nlite) and installed all the drivers and utilities for Toshiba laptop, I found that my DVD-rom is not working while I press eject button.

Mechanic of DVD is not responding to eject in XP and not even in the BIOS!
It is interesting, mechanic DVD is the detection in BIOS, detects in XP, XP operating system votes - mechanic to the DVD works properly - its fable.

However, if I have installed XP on the second partition, Win Vista does not load :(
I don't have a second chance for second selection (Vista and XP).
I now have XP only, even if Vista is on the first partition - I didn't delete it.

Do you think that the DVD-rom is HW or SW problem?
I think that, given that the DVD-rom does not in the BIOS - HW error.

But is very strange, if I install XP from mechanic to the DVD and then close is, DVD - rom does not...:)

If I manually open and insert the CD, the DVD does not (diode led no blink, just if I turn off the computer, led blinked once).

    PLS help me someone-

    Thank you!

    Hi Michal

Your question is very strange, I mean the number of CD/DVD drive

The fact is that the readers of CD/DVD eject function functions should any operating system has been installed on your laptop. It has nothing to do with your software on the HARD drive.

So I wonder why the eject button works with Vista and not XP preinstalled OS?  :|

My only plausible explanation is that sometimes there is a bad connection between the laptop and the drive. However the problem could be related to the hardware problem too

As you see it s not easy to say what's wrong exactly, we can only speculate.

Now some details about your installation of OS double.

You cannot choose between Windows XP and Vista because Vista boot manager was obliterated during the installation of Win XP.
This happened to me also. I installed Win XP on my Satellite and could not start Vista.

The solution was simple; I used another original DVD of Vista (from my friend) and booted from this DVD. Vista has renewed the Boot Manager, and then I was able to boot Vista.

Then I downloaded the tool called Easy BCD.
This tool can change the Vista Boot Manager settings. I've edited and inserted a new Windwos XP OS entry.

    That s it!

    If necessary:

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD

    do it right.
