Satellite L500D - 16L - how to identify the AHCI controller?

I try to install Windows XP on L500D - 16L. I used Nlite to integrate the si3112 drivers contained in the folder SATA driver to view shown for this model as well as the smbus driver which was offered elsewhere.

I also tried using a virtual floppy drive on a memory stick to add using F6 during installation. First attempt was the sil3112 only. I get a blue screen of course when I try to install or start in AHCI mode. When I boot in compatibility mode of the controller listed under Device Manager is an ata standard pci controller that will not allow the update of the driver sil3112.

The only conclusion I can come to is the driver contained in the download package is incorrect for the controller. Can anyone help?

Hi Goober,

First of all it of not possible to install the AHCI driver after installing Windows. If Windows is installed, you can t change the compatibility mode with AHCI in the BIOS. You will get a blue screen and it of not possible to install this driver.

Anyway, if you have created a new installation disc using nLite and you get a blue screen, it seems that you used the wrong SATA drivers. Please check again!

In addition, use the forum search. You can find some interesting discussions about this.

    To my knowledge, the Satellite P300 series BIOS doesn t contain the ability to switch the AHCI compatible mode.

    I don t think that even after updating the BIOS such option would be available in the BIOS.

    I see on the first screenshot of the BIOS, the SSD drive is connected to the second controller.
    I recommend you connect the SSD to the first controller (instead of the HARD disk).
    Maybe then you could get better performance.

    Just for the note: portable computers with a graphics card ATI supports the AMD chipset, and in this case the ATI graphics card driver contains the SATA driver files.

    However, I guess the HARD disk controller specification allows the use of better performance of SSD drive.

    You n t know what sound chip has your laptop?
    On the Europe of Toshiba page you can find the drivers for this model of laptop.
    I can see that the Realtek sound card driver has been released and so I'm 100% sure that the sound chip was made by Realtek.

  • Updated by Satellite L500D - 16L graphic card drivers

    I'm playing Harry Potter 1-4 on my laptop, but it has not installed properly and bugs in scene 1. I contacted manufacturers of games on this subject and they told me to update my graphics card drivers but I can't find where they are on this site. Does anyone know how and where I can update the drivers?

    Hi mate

    All Toshiba drivers can be found on the European driver Toshiba page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com
    Satellite L500D - 16L belongs to the series of PSLT9E.
    You can choose this in order to get all the drivers for the laptop.

    But in many cases the driver versions are not similar to the latest versions available on the pages of graphics card manufacturer.
    To the point that the Toshiba drivers are modified and released the mobile use FRO drivers ATI/NVidia don't support overheating protection that helps to control the temperature of the GPU.

    The use of these drivers is therefore always at you own risk

  • Satellite L500D - 16L - no disk recovery Windows 7 64 bit included

    Hi all

    I'm curious... I bought this laptop a while a go and was browsing the Web from Toshiba site and it says that this laptop should have Windows 64 bit on it. I thought just is it possible to install my own copy of Windows? Usually I'm stuck sort of encrypted messages as this copy of Windows may not be installed on this laptop or something or where can I get an official copy of windows which must go with this laptop?

    Hi whipser1,

    I checked the specs on the site Web of Toshiba Satellite L500D - 16L and 64-bit Windows 7 is pre-installed, but you can also get a recovery with Windows 7 32 bit disc.

    So what version of Windows 7 is currently installed?

    If Windows 7 64 bit is installed you can create the recovery disc yourself for the 64-bit version. Therefore, to start the preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator and follow the instructions on the screen. You just need a few blank DVDs to create the disks I recommend DVD-R from Verbatim or TDK media.

  • How to enable the AHCI for HP ENVY TouchSmart m6-k015dx Sleekbook

    Hello

    I upgraded my hard drive to an SSD and it's done. Laptop works very well.  The Samsung SSD software installed and it says that I need to enable AHCI to get the SSD running at full capacity.

    I searched the BIOS and don't see anywhere to change that.  I then went to the Device Manager in Windows 8.1and I don't see any ATA/SATA controller.  All I see is a RAID controller. RAID controller in a laptop?

    Can someone tell me how to activate the AHCI?

    Thank you.

    Hello:

    Because your laptop is a portable consumer there is no way to change the BIOS to AHCI setting.

    The BIOS is set by default for RAID on your model series because some models come with one of these drives covering with a SSD and for a technical reason, that those who must be configured in RAID 0 mode so that Setup work right.

    It is my understanding that if you install the latest driver Intel RST, which is supposed to support TRIM SSD starting with the Intel 7 series chipset, and yours has series 8, so he must have full support for one SSD usage even in RAID mode.

    I donno what are your exact needs...

    If you want to load screens on selcting a menuitem from the GUI go to create menuItem.

    In the case depends on certain conditions of your application then just use

    try
      {
           UiApplication.getUiApplication().pushScreen(TestScreen);
      }

    catch(Exception e)
    {
    // PUSH screen fails because the screen was already pushed.
    // remove the screens from top of the required screen.
    while(UiApplication.getUiApplication().getActiveScreen() != TestScreen)

      {
         UiApplication.getUiApplication().popScreen();
      }
    }

  • How to identify the virtual copies (in my records) that have already been deleted a collection

    Hello!

    I keep looking for an answer to this anywhere on the web and 3 books, but can't find the answer...

    How to identify the virtual copies (in my records) that have already been deleted a collection?

    Here's the workflow, and where I'm stuck.

    1. I chose a picture and put it in a collection.

    2. I did a whole bunch of virtual photos in the collection copies that I tried different modifications.

    3. after and during a lot of changes, I have a lot of virtual copies removed from my collection because I decided against the changes after doing some comparisons.

    4. when I went the folders to select my next picture to work away and so to add to the collection, I discovered that each of my virtual copies was in the original folder, even if I had deleted from my collection.

    5. I really don't want these virtual copies deleted to be in my home folder.  They were virtual copies of trial and error and I wanted them to really just be thrown out.

    6. how to identify these virtual copies removed-from-the-collection in my folder?  File names all look the same, and besides, I want to be absolutely certain that I have selected the right ones.  Some of the changes were very minor and would be difficult to see without laboriously go through them one by one.

    Thank you very much!!

    Anne

    No easy answer on fixing the mess other than an individual inspection of the virtual copy can't watching the Images/Edit history to determine which ones that you no longer need.

    But to help prevent the problem in the future: when you are working from a collection, you must use ALT + return back to remove a copy of Photo or virtual catalog. With just the key DELETE or BACKSPACE only deletes the photo from the collection.
