Satellite L505-13Z - unable to repair Windows

Hello

It's been a while since I reinstalled Windows on my computer (2.5 yr old L505-13Z), and in my view, it is now necessary because the computer is running a little heavier that it was after the last restart. I also upgraded my ram from 4 GB to 8 GB with the same specifications as the old RAM last week (it is well recognized by Windows and caused no problems during installation).

I tried to recover windows with utility recovery disk without success. I turned on the computer while maintaining the '0' key and Windows just started normally with no unusual response and no commissioning recovery utility. I checked the folder of HARD disk recovery and it seems to be intact.

I tried to do the same with F12 then "repair my computer". Then, I was invited to insert the recovery DVD, and then restart the computer. The following messages appeared with her: "cannot start Windows. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. "Status: 0X000000e info: the boot selection failed because a registered device is inaccessible.

When I tried to install windows with my DVD (I installed Windows with these DVD before so they are supposed to work) recovery, I just receive a constant '_' symbol in the upper left corner of the screen and no progression until I have ejected the DVD, then Windows started normally. I tried to play music CD s on the DVD player and they worked so I guess there is no problem with the drive.

Anyone know what could be the cause? Is there a solution in addition to take it to the service? It is not in warranty more so I would avoid her.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Stand by.
Let's start talking step by step, because the history is somewhat confusing.

Firs let us clarify HARD drive recovery facility.
Please check Toshiba document - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm and let us know what happening exactly when you follow the recovery HARD drive installation procedure. On what stage you noticed the problem?

Try also the follow-up:
Start your laptop and press F12 for the Boot Manager. When the list of all bootable devices appear put recovery DVD into the optical disc drive, has chosen the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER.
What happens when you do this?

  • Satellite L505-13Z - BOOT error

Hi all, I have a Satellite L505-13Z. After the hard drive recovery, something went wrong and I had only the F12 page.
I used the recovery DVDs. It worked for an hour to install win7, then he did a reboot and I saw the windows screen, so that it starts again and stopped working: whenever I turn it on, I have the F12 screen, choose a place to start. Hard drive is detected, but if I choose what it I got the "Boot error" and back to the same page.

I would try Hiren boot to check if the hard disk is OK or not. How will I know if it's only the hard drive or something else?

    Thank you

    UPDATE.
I used a bootable cd with Hiren and each test on hard disk and RAM are OK, no errors.
I inserted the DVD to see if he had the option to repair an installation, but do not, so I installed again. In the end, we asked me to remove the DVD and restart; I did and I went to loop: win 7 was updating registry, reboot, win 7 has been updated to register...

I wondered if the DVD has been damaged, but is no way to download from microsoft, a Windows 7 copy, because when I insert my response series is to ask the supplier...

    What can I do?

  • Satellite L505 - 10 p - looking for Windows 7 serial number

At the back of my computer, I can't read the serial number of Windows 7, but I need this number.

I have the serial number of this laptop and an old toshiba warranty - Europe.com

Even if you would be able to read the key to series of windows 7 that appears at the bottom of the unit, this will not help you will activate another Win 7 system.
It is an OEM key that belongs to the preinstalled image and does not work under the other system.

Has anyone ever imagined a (free or inexpensive) solution to this? It happened to my L505-13Z a few days ago.

He sent for the service, but I'm afraid it's going to cost me: S

    Hi Cvalda,

If something went wrong during the update of the BIOS you can do anything to reflash the ROM module because special tools are needed. This is possible only from an authorized service provider.

So it was good has sent for service but let's wait to what say guys. ;)

  • Satellite P15-S420: unable to start Windows XP

I hope that all makes sense... I'm unable to start after the start page of Windows XP. I think I have assumed that the computer turn off when there is no. The battery may have exhausted and when I plugged it back in and tried to start it would not.

When the Windows start page is in place, it seems that HD works for awhile, but stops and goes no further. I am able to boot in safe mode and have tried to restore with no effect. When I click on Toshiba Manager of power supply in the control panel I get "Policy of NoteBook Load Fail" this could be a problem.

    What do you think???
    Oh, I have a Satellite P15-S420.

    Hello

In my opinion, this power saver error message occurs because you started the laptop in safe mode. In this case, the OS doesn't use the Toshiba drivers that are required for the use of additional applications.
You write about the restore procedure. Have you tried to install the laptop with the supplied restore CD? If this isn't the case, then try it.

  • Satellite L505-141 - recovery disk contains Windows 7 32 bit

    Hello

I bought my computer in the year around March last. I had with laptop computer operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Lately I think the format of my laptop using the recovery CD that I have receviced with the laptop. I don't know why, but the recovery CD Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit! Why its not 64-bit and 32-bit?

The laptop comes with 6 GB of Ram and Core i5 and I won't enjoy my laptop with 32-bit operating system. Is this normal? I was suppose to get the 32-bit operating system (really wired if you a laptop with 6 GB of memory). This really makes me feel angry. I feel that I have been cheated.

If ts the company I bought the laptop in and not the fault of Toshiba, I ask and investigation or something like that since they really make a bad name for you guys.

Please answer me as soon as possible.

    Andrei Braunstein.

    Hello

Before you wrote things that are not correct, please first check the specs on the Web from Toshiba site and take a look at your * user manual *!

The laptop comes with a recovery disk which is Windows 7 32 bit, so everything is ok with this disc and you got the right pair.

The interesting point is that the recovery disc for Windows 7 64-bit, you must create yourself such as mentioned in * user manual *! You can create this disk preinstalled use Toshiba recovery media creator. You need blank DVDs to create discs and that s all. After that do what you can to restore the preinstalled Windows 7 64 bit every time when you want to.

Now it s too late to do that, but you can order a recovery disc here:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

I can understand you he would do better to use Windows 64 bit on a laptop with 6 GB of RAM but don t forget some old don t on 64-bit applications and 32 bit necessary. In addition I m wondering you n t saw a message that reminds you to create the recovery disk. This message that you get after you first start your computer:
    + Important INFORMATION +.

+ your system is equipped with a hard drive recovery system. If you need repair.
+ your computer in the restaurant to original factory State, you can do it directly.

+ Toshiba recommends you create recovery disk medium uses the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator' to ensure the +.

  • Satellite L505-144: unable to connect to the Wlan 802.11 N

Hello, I hope someone can help me with this

I've updated my old network wireless at home so I can stream media.
I replaced my old netgear G router and bought a netgear DGND3300 dual band N router to the hub and a WNDA3100.

Office everything is set up ok on these as I can connect up to 300 kbps, which is good.
The current settings for the router are:
    Up to 130Mbps at 5 GHz & 54Mbps 2.4 GHz"
    channel 36 = N
    Channel 11 = G

Although the problem is the laptop.
Now, he says that the wireless laptop is N. When I connect to the router it connects only when G setting and I only have until 45 Kbps.

Is there a way so that it can connect to BOTH channels to get the full speed or the wireless laptop is only a single tape device?

    Thank you
    Steve

    Hello

Built into the laptop LAN card is a Realtek RTL8191SE 802.11bgn.
As you can see the wireless network card supports three WLan standards; 802 11 B, G and N.

    First of all, you must make sure that more recent Wlan driver is installed;
New WLan driver can be found here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

In addition, you should check if 802.11 N standard has been chosen.
You should do this in the Device Manager-> card WLan-> properties-> Advanced tab.

    Welcome them

My laptop is Satellite L505-10z. I installed Windows 8 Pro and I noticed that many drivers (especially PVAT) I downloaded at Toshiba support site Web (which are originally for Windows 7) doesn't work do not! When Toshiba released drivers for Windows 8? My model will be included in the driver updates?

    Thank you

    > downloaded from the site Web of Toshiba support (which are originally for Windows 7) works not!

Win 7 tools and utilities are made for Win 7 and Win No 8

    > When Toshiba released drivers for Windows 8? My model will be included in the driver updates?
I think you should ask Toshiba. It is a user community.
But I think that Toshiba would begin with driver support if Win 8 would be OFFICIALLY available on the market.

  • Satellite L505 - 10K - recovery disk contains only Windows 7 32-bit

    Hello, I have a question.

I bought a Satellite L505 - 10 k a month ago. It came with Windows 7 x 64, 3 partitions (I don't know why, 3? seriously?). I tried to install Linux, delete the last partition, called 'Data' and I screw them completely. I used the recovery DVDs to bring the phone to default settings and I discovered the system recover is Windows 7 x 32.

No idea why the systems are different?

It's just a minor issue, I guess, the only bad thing is that the x 32 system recognizes not the 4 GB of RAM. I use now only 3 GB of RAM.

    Hi Cabo_Nobbdy,

I think you should check your user manual and the specificaitions of your laptop first before starting a question. I founded the following information:
    + Operating system: Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery) and Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 32 - bit (Toshiba-Recovery DVD) +.

This means that the recovery for Windows 7 64-bit disk, you need to create by * you *!
The DVD that came with your laptop recovery contains only 32-bit Windows 7, and normally, you can create the recovery disk using the Toshiba recovery disc creator. I put t understand why you didn't do it because after the first start, you get this message:
    + Important INFORMATION +.

+ your system is equipped with a hard drive recovery system. If you need repair.
+ your computer in the restaurant to original factory State, you can do it directly.
+ HDD (press F8 when you start your computer, choose "Repair your computer" +)

+ Hat you are able to restore your computer to the State of origin, installed at the factory, even if your computer +.

But now it s too late for that and you have to order a new Toshiba recovery disc yourself:

  • Satellite L505-SP6934R - missing controller SM Bus Windows XP driver

    Satellite L505-SP6934R

I have replace the Windows 7 operating system with windows XP Pro. Everything works fine except for the SM Bus controller I m unable to find. I have already installed the Intel GM45 Express Chipset and all the drivers available on the Toshiba site.

The SATA controller in the bios is set to compatibility mode. I tried to change the mode of compatibility without success. Is there a way to do this, if so, what are the benefits?

Thank you for all your support AJ

    Hello

To activate the controller sata AHCI mode in BIOS, try to download and install Storage Manager.
The SMBus Controller is part of the Intel chipset that monitors the temperature and voltage card of your system. Install the chipset driver for this problem. Have a look here:

  • Satellite L505 - 14K - cannot read Windows key label CoA

    Hello.

I have a Satellite L505 - 14K on which I need to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium, but Windows key on the label is unreadable. Could I get a replacement for it?

Also I can not read the HARD drive Windows code because it has been formatted before that I get this laptop in my hands...
Maybe I can get either a phone number or e-mail address to a branch of Toshiba Polish, so I could communicate with them in this case?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

Toshiba doesn't provide the keys to series for windows systems. On the label, you'll find the serial OEM key but this key cannot be used for activation of the system.
Toshiba offers a clean recovery image that already contains the active Windows System.

This recovery disk can be ordered here:

  • Satellite L505 - it come with disc of Windows 7 64 bit or 32 bit?

I had a computer Satellite L505 with * preinstalled * version Windows 7 64-bit and a 32-bit product recovery disc. I didn't create a backup of a 64-bit version and reinstalled the system since the provided 32-bit recovery disc erase my HD. However, I would like to reinstall the verision of 64-bit Windows 7. I know I can order a backup media on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/ but it says not version (64-bit or 32-bit) wich are mailed directly to me.

If I check the description of the model on the Toshiba page, it says that it comes with the 64-bit version and includes the 32-bit recovery disc. This description still leaves me a question what backup media I'd get Toshiba. I have to be sure that I get the 64-bit WIndows 7 until I have order a.

I'd appreciate a confimation. Thank you!

    Hey Buddy,

I think everything is ok and there is no open question. The description on the Toshiba site says it all: the laptop comes with the 64-bit Windows 7 version, which means that this version is preinstalled on your computer. Additional, you get a version 32-bit on a recovery disc and that s all!

So you didn't burn the 64-bit recovery disc, which means you must order a new one from Toshiba. I guess you will get versions then 32-bit and 64-bit.

    Hey,.

If you do a search on Google you will find a lot of results on this error message and in general it s associated with the middle of the installation (DVD itself).

Do you use an original disc of Microsoft Windows 7, or is it a copy to a friend?

You should only use the Microsoft original disks with valid software.
