Satellite L750 - gray screen at startup

Hi guys,.

I have Toshiba Satellite L750 slightly less than 2 years. He developed intermittent problems, when starting it arrives with white/grey screen and disappear when the login screen is ready. Sometimes touching the upper left part of the disappears from the screen it. Other wise I have to keep restarting. I have checked the cable connections between screen and motherboard, and they seem good.

I have also connected my laptop to an external display while it shows the gray screen and the external display. The screen is not cracked or the other.

Help, please. Thank you

Googling around you can find a lot of discussion on various forums on similar problems and many different explanations why something like this can happen. On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what may be wrong with your laptop, but it is certainly the unwanted material.

In my opinion you should either continue to use your laptop until it can be possible and later when the issue gets worse search solution or contact the nearest service Toshiba and ask for help.

Guarantee is generally of 2 years (depending on the country) but if you opened it on your own guarantee is canceled now.

  • Mac Pro 2008 No. Startup Manager Access/Gray screen on startup

I'm in a difficult situation and hoping a Ninja Mac can give a helping hand.

Had a RAM issue (is no longer recognized a pair of memory modules in a 2008 Mac Pro, El Capitan), and among the troubleshooting steps, I did a PRAM reset (press / hold down ALT + CMD + P + R during startup) just to see if it could resolve. Unfortunately, the Mac would not start in front of a gray-white screen with a flashing icon of folder/question mark. Returned never me to get there.

I had read that resetting the PRAM the disc start, among other things, may need to be reset afterwards, and this seems to be the case. Looked this solution and kept diligently press Option key during startup. This time, no folder icon, instead a sensitive cursor, but nothing else. Gray-white screen only, no boot manager to select the startup disk is suitable.

    I also tried the following...

    1. Starting in the Diagnostic Mode... Gray screen.
    2. Restore/recovery... Gray screen.
    3. Reset the SMC... Gray screen.
    4. Enter Safe Mode... Gray screen.

OS (and apps) on flash PCI cards. All files are on hard disks in the 4-Bay, as well as a player flash remains connected to a (used as a scratch of PS) free SATA port. So I can't really share, but I wonder if I shoot all readers it would require a search for another source?

I create an El Capitan USB boot (currently copy with createinstallmedia), but don't expect that it will offer what anyone else that its use is based on access to the Startup Manager at startup..., that I can't do. There are the graphics on the screen (missing folder icon, mobile mouse cursor) so can not imagine a video problem.

    Looking forward to enter here.

    Success!

I created a USB bootable OS X installer using these instructionsand createinstallmedia. After some messing around with the Terminal syntax USB was ready to go. My concern, however, was that the operating instructions required by selecting the drive of the Startup Manager... which I could not access.

With the USB stick plugged in I started to turned on the Mac while pressing the key OCCUPIED Palestinian territory and this time, the selection screen pops up showing just the USB key for installation of El Capitan. Got that we open and instead of installing I chose Startup Manager in the installation menu bar, took my normal OS drive and rebooted. Back in business, no problems.

This put aside, although I understood that reset PRAM would also require reselect startup disk, I don't have a hot clue why did not appear the Boot Manager - or any other useful diagnostic. If someone could throw some light here would be appreciated.

  • Satellite L750 - no error at startup boot device

When you try to start my Satellite L750/755, I get an error no. Bootable Device.

Before I try any recovery, is it possible to remove the HARD drive and connect it to my other PC so that I can get all my pictures, music, etc. it. If so, do I need.

I have it on my old desk, and bought a HARD drive with a USB caddy, if disk HARD just looked like an external drive.

    Thank you very much

    Tim

Yes, you can remove the HARD drive and connect it to your other laptop / PC with USB HDD external enclosure. With the help of this forum you can connect your HARD drive as an external device that must be recognized and listed in the Windows Explorer, so you can have full access to all your stored data.

Back up all your data and put the HARD drive in your laptop.

Usually, if there is not a hardware problem you can start your laptop and press F12 to get into the boot menu. When the boot menu appears on the screen that you can put the recovery disk of information optical disk drive, choose the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER. After making this optical drive should start the disc and start to copy the data to the HARD drive.

What you can do before you start using the recovery disc is to enter the BIOS and set it to default settings.

Please try it and send feedback.

  • Gray screen at startup

My computer seems to hang because the screen went black. I had to do a hard reboot by using the power button. What I get is a grey screen with a cursor.

I tried to start in safe mode, or at least, I think that I did by holding down the SHIFT key while starting to but still the gray screen.

Anything else, otherwise I can try?

    Thank you

Reboot into recovery now command-r and run disk utility to repair the hard drive. If it still does not start, try to reinstall OS X.

For two days my laptop Toshiba A100-495 / model-No. PSAA9E-18F047GR / Y6065357Q with Windows XP SP3 serial shows a black screen at startup. There is still no picture Windows startup.

The black screen is only starting cold after stopping, not awareness of standby or pause.

    > When I am pressing Fn + F5 keys, the desktop appears

It seems that the display output is set to external monitor
You see the Toshiba start screen if the laptop is connected to the external monitor?
    Check it!

In addition, I am agree with Akuma BIOS should be the default value.
To access the BIOS F2 press while turning on the laptop. I hope that you can do this then press F9 for default settings and then exit the BIOS save settings.

  • A gray screen at startup - no solution doesn't work?

Since I upgraded to El Capitan my iMac has been a nightmare and it was fantastic before!  This week it stopped loading altogether; If I start it normally, it brings up a loading bar then gets just stuck to the end, if I load in SafeMode it show the loading bar then once charged him will just grey screen.

So far, I've tried all the solutions I could find online, reset the PRAM, reset the SMC, repair disk and first aid under disc utilities at the start in recovery mode, reinstall the OS X (no not work - got stuck on 0 seconds to go).  I am at my wits end and have absolutely no idea what to do to solve this problem!  Any ideas?  Thank you.

Hi lolsapple, do you have an another startup boot disk? If so try to start from that, download and run EtreCheck.  It is a diagnostic tool that is very useful for us to find problems. It will also give us additional specifications on your Mac. After his execution after the logfile here. It will never contain any personal information.

You have an another startup boot disk?

    Edited by myself.

When I go to start the portable computer I only get a black screen. I can hear things fan and the startup sound happens to connect but only a black screen.

Any suggestions to solve this problem would be great!

For better understanding, you should put a little more useful information. Who knows what you do with your machine.

What operating system do you use? What was your last step when everything worked OK?
    Normal shutdown of OS?

  • Satellite C850 - blue screen at startup

    Hello

My elderly father has a Toshiba Satellite C850-1MC laptop - (Intel Pentium B960 2.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB, 15.6 "HD LED, DVDRW, Intel HD, Webcam, Bluetooth, Windows 8 64-bit).

When he started the laptop the initial screen appears for a short time, then goes to a blue screen showing only the mouse pointer (no error code appears).

If on the initial screen he quickly presses a button brings you to the screen of welcome for a very short period and then go to the bluescreen as above.

Anyone got any ideas how to sort?
    Thanks in advance

I don't know what the problem is and why this happens but if possible recovering your laptop and set it back to factory settings. Please test once more and send feedback.

It can be assumed that the problem may be, but the best test you can do is to put the laptop to factory settings again. Recovery image has been tested and if there is not some hardware problem everything should work properly again.

  • Satellite M70 - black screen on startup

    Hello!

I have a problem with my Satellite M70-309, so for two times after logo Toshiba, Windows Xp (home sp2) does not start.
The result is a WHITE & BLACK SCREEN.
So I turned off manually appeared then black screen where I can choose if starting normally, last good configuration etc...

    That's happened?
Is a hardware problem? Because my cpu died last month I changed it.

    Thank you!
(Sorry for my English I'm Italian)

    Hi, RSC

It is not easy to tell what can be the problem, but I assume that there is something wrong with the HARD drive. It will be interesting what happens with the new HARD drive.

If possible also start the recovery procedure to see if the HARD drive will be recognized correctly and if the recovery procedure starts correctly. Check it using the installation in expert mode where you have access to information from HARD drive (partitions and so on).

  • Satellite L755D: black screen after startup or switching of external monitor

I have a strange problem with my Satellite L755D. I normally use an external monitor that works very well.

If I want to switch to the laptops monitor using Fn + F5, the laptop monitor remains dark, but you can see (more guessing) office.

Just the bright background lights. Same thing if I boot without the external monitor. In the beginning (phase BIOS?), you can see the normal symbols, then the screen turns to.

Funny, is that these two problems do not appear when I cut the power supply and the laptop runs on battery only.
Any ideas, what the reason could be?

    Thank you
    Mason

Funny, is that these two problems do not appear when I cut the power supply and the laptop runs on battery only.

Maybe you should check the configuration of power plan that is used only in battery mode.
It might be possible that the backlight settings have been set at a lower value by using the power of the battery.
I recommend you to check this in the ATI catalyst and windows power options.

If possible try to connect the external monitor to your laptop and check if you can see something there.
You know, on this virtual path, it is not easy to say why this happens.
It may be faulty laptop screen, problems of connections or graphics card failure.
