  I bought it almost two years ago and at the beginning I had some problems of fan.

  After I started there was a message telling me that the cooling system had been damaged and that I should contact Toshiba support so that it can be fixed.

  After I pressed Ok on this message my fan would go close to 100%, which was a pretty annoying sound but the machine was always cool and never had any performance issues.

  There are tho, the message is stopped and now im stuck with the fan works once every 5 minutes that is bad cause I use this laptop mainly for games and im get FPS quite low, even when the games are set on high performance and low "eye-candy".

  Is it possible that I can bring this message back, or even manually the fan start and stop when I need it?

  I did turn my laptop Satellite L850 via HDMI to an external monitor without problem for many months.

  A couple of weeks, I tried to update the catalyst driver and have had problems since.
  Basically now when I select mode 1080 p via the Catalyst Control Panel, it makes the screen flash and present vertical lines.

  Occasionally, it will work for a short time, even up to a full day and it will randomly start once again. I can play a game in 1080 p mode and it will be totally random, sometimes which allows me to play for hours without having the screen flashes black while the other times, it starts flashing constantly and the only way to fix it is to reboot or pull the HDMI cable and plug back and cross your fingers you have enough time to reopen the catalyst and change in 720 p which is always stable.

  I don't know how old is your laptop and if dust may be reason for constantly running cooling fan but try it please check first advanced power options. You will find the option for cooling method. Please, set it to optimized battery. This should reduce the activity of fan cooling.

  I also hope you use laptop on the desk and fan/cooling grill is free.

  By the way: do you use original with the original display driver Toshiba recovery image?
