Satellite M110 - FN buttons do not work

Hi all

Can anyone help?
I have an intermittent problem with my M110.
The F10 lights without request and then all the keys of the LHS to stop keyboard to operate.

If I turn off the light of the F10, the keys still do not work.
It almost seems as if the Fn key is stuck, but it's not.

The only way to stop it is by restarting but then it happens again maybe out of the blue, after 2 minutes, maybe after 1 day.

If I reinstall the keyboard and if so how?

Any suggestions much appreciated... Pacmac

Hello

First the keyboard driver cannot be reinstalled, because the driver is Microsoft and its share of the Windows operating system.

In any case, based on the areas the FN buttons don t work as it should, I guess you're meaning the FN + F1-> Fn + F9 buttons range.

Well, these buttons are controlled by special software from Toshiba.

Sat M110 appears to be an Australian model of laptop and so I checked the Australian driver page.
There is a tool called common Modules. It is a Win XP tool that controls the FN keys.
In addition, you must install the Toshiba Fn-esse, and Toshiba Hotkey Utility.

After the installation of the applications mentioned the FN keys should start working again.

Welcome them

  • Satellite M70 - media buttons do not work

    Hi all

I have been using the Satellite M70 for 2 years now. My OS is XP SP2. The laptop comes with preinstalled express media player. And I still have the Express Media Player recovery CD.

For the reasons that I just formatted the C drive. This is not the first time that I did. But the last time after reformatting drive C Media buttons are still working fine. This time beside the reformatting, I have updated BIOS (from site Web from Toshiba) to version 1.50.

Now media buttons do not work. And not more than (browser and CD/DVD buttons) shortcut keys. I tried to reinstall the express media player by booting from the recovery CD and reinstall chose. But the problem persists.

Are there ways to get the media buttons still work?

    Help would be very appreciated.

P/S: in case it is because of the update of the BIOS, is there way I can flash back to its original version?

    Hello

I have the Satellite M70-159 with BIOS V 1.3. I'll try to update BIOS to version 1.5 to see if the same happen on my M70 laptop. I did not Express Media Player, but I will test it with running Windows XP Home edition.

So. Windows XP Home edition, I can use all the keys with Windows media player. Browser and all media buttons work well. With WinDVD too much work.

I don't really know why this does not work on your M70. Maybe you should remove all the stuff your laptop and do a clean install EMC and operating system itself.

  • Satellite L855 - FN buttons do not work after upgrading to Win 8

Hi all... I had updated my Windows 8 Satellite and I followed the instruction guide.
After the update the fn keys do not work correctly:

    I can't adjust brightness Display
I can't use the multimedia shortcut
    I can't turn the volume
I can't set power button wifi bluetooth, but only switch to airplane mode

    Thank you

    Hello

Have you installed the upgrade wizard to win 8?
The upgrade wizard to win 8 allows you to get all the drivers Win 8.

In General, the FN buttons are controlled by VAP (value added package)

    > I can't switch Bluetooth Wi - Fi, but only switch to airplane mode
Air airplane mode disables the BT and WLan as well, that's how it works in Win 8

  • Re: Satellite A660 - media buttons do not work

First of all I apologize if my language is not good, because I'm Spanish.

I have a * Toshiba Satellite A660-13D * and this model has a button touch media at the top, next to the keyboard. Here is a picture with the buttons marked in red: [http://forums.toshiba.com/tshb/attachments/tshb/brd_input/10621/1/Toshiba-Satellite-A660-Multimedia-Notebook.jpg]
Two days ago the buttons works well. There are a few buttons, one for an ecological mode, one to turn wireless on or off, one for play/pause Media Player, etc.. These buttons work only those who turn up and down volume. The button that activates / deactivates the Mouse-touchpad does not work too.

I'm looking for solutions, and one of them suggests the BIOS update. I tried to update my BIOS with the downloadable files of the Toshiba website for my model of PC, but when I run the executable, it always crashes with this message: Winflash for UEFI has stopped working. I read on someone with the same problem as me and someone replied that he should try executing the BIOS via a .iso file burned into a CD-Rom and boot from it. But, where I could get this .iso file? If I enter on the Toshiba site in English and go to the download section, I can't find my model Satellite, so I can not get the appropriate files. Is my Toshiba Satellite A660 13d, and I find only A660-ST2GX1, A660-BT2G22, A660-BT3N25X and similar products.

I would really appreciate if someone can help me with this. Thank you.

You have mobile EMEA model then all the drivers, tools and utilities that you can download from http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Try please reinstall extra package from Toshiba.

I have a problem, just install Windows 7 Build 7100 (fron upgrade Vista 32 bit) and the fn on my Satellite A 210 does not work corectly.
It only works with the action of the num pad, other functions does not work.

What should I do to make it work?

It seams that I have problems with the actions of Toshibas tool whitch controls but I can't find name to update...

    Hello!

I put t understand why Windows 7 is so popular right now it s only a beta version

However, I think that the reason for this is why no Toshiba tool is available at the moment, but I can understand that because Windows 7 is not yet out.
You can try to install the package of value added. This is for Vista, but maybe it works also on Windows 7 being the most drivers for Vista works on Windows 7 too.

    Hello

The FN keys are controlled by the Support of Flash memory card utility.
Try restarting the software. You can find it in all programs-> Toshiba-> Flash Cards.

If that doesn't work, try reinstalling this application.
You can download the page of the European driver Toshiba Flash cards

  • Satellite L500 FN buttons do not work with Win 7 32 bit

    Hello

try to install the value-added package 1.2.28 from the DVD driver (shipped with my laptop and newer computer as the pilot on toshibas website).
Installtion works well and the keyboard shortcut does not work after restarting.
I even try the old driver from the Web site 1.2.25 it does not also.

After that, I try to install a part of the driver. I find this comment:

+ For the FN keys that you will install Toshiba Value added Package and Flash cards supports the utility. Make sure that the two versions are released for Windows 7 64 bit already. If you choose a version of Vista, it will not work! +

+ Here you can download everything: +.
    + http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers +.

+ Value Added Package must be installed in the first place. ;)+

But the usefulness of flash cards is a part of the added value package and I wasn't able to disable the utility under Windows 7 32-bit flash cards.
This utility seems to be used for other public services.

Someone at - it solution to activate the shortcut keys?

    Greetings

    Wibke

    > But the usefulness of flash cards is a part of the added value package and I wasn't able to disable the utility of flash on Windows 7 32 bit cards.

There are two applications that can be downloaded:
    * Added value package v1.2.34 * and * supports Flash cards utility v1.63.0.4 *.

    Please install both applications again!

If the two were already installed, and remove the system first, after restarting again install the two drivers again.

  • Satellite A100: Media buttons do not work

    Hello!

I have the Satellite A100, Windows XP SP2. All the media buttons on the left of the keyboard has stopped working. They worked yesterday, I did not install anything or even shut down the computer since then. They just stop working.

Can someone help me to fix it?

    Thank you!

    Hello

I think you should first of all, clean the registry.
You can use a freeware tool called CCLeaner. It s great. I also use it.

After removing the old Toshiba control Utility and cleaned the Windows registry reboot once more and install first the common Modules!
After the installation of common Modules install Toshiba controls.

Good luck and feedback would be highly appreciated.

    Good bye

You mean all Toshiba control buttons (IE pause, play, stop, lighting, etc.) don t work yet, you have installed the new VAP?

One of my friends had the similar problem and he has reinstalled the VFR too.

He used the recovery disc and then everything worked again

I don't know why this happened, but maybe it has something to do with MS updates

  • Satellite U920T - duplex cam + touch screen + win button does not work

I have the problem as the touch screen + frontal camera + camera rear windows on the screen button do not work.

I tried to install the drivers to display/graphics but that has not helped.

I bought this laptop from Saudi Arabia and it is still under warranty but I am out of country, so I can't ask the warranty as well.

someone please fix this and tell me the solution, or tell me what I need to do?

    Help will be really appreciated.
    some details on my laptop:

    Toshiba Satellite U920T-B919.
    Windows 8.1 updated 64-bit.

    Thank you

Since you mentioned different problems with your laptop, I think that in this case its recommended to get the laptop back to factory settings just to check if all these problems are related to the problem of system.

Regarding the webcam: Windows 8/8.1 already contains the webcam drivers and therefore additional webcam driver installation isn t possible. Extra webcam driver is not simply.

From my point of few smells of any description as a bit of a problem of material, the upper part of the slide where the touch screen is part of.
The key win as well that the two cams are located and there are probably some lose the connection between the two parties (touchscreen and keyboard)

Anyway, as I said more top, its recommended to recover the laptop to factory settings just to make sure that the system isn t the troublemaker.
In case of hardware problems, you must get in touch service available in your country.
