Satellite M30 - BSOD Stop 7F, 0x00000008

Hi gurus!

I have a problem with my Satellite M30 laptop, I turn it on and after completing all procedures of departure (and before doing anything) I get a blue screen with the following error message:
STOP 0X0000007F (0 X 00000008, 0 X 00000000, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
then, the computer restarts automatically.

I found some info on this kind of error, and the problem may be caused by damage to the processor. I guess I can change it but I did not how or what I need, any of you can tell me if I can make the change and how?

Thanks in advance

Best regards

Hello

Hmm... your first idea is not bad... it really looks like a hardware failure and article Microsoft Knowledge on errors "STOP 0x0000007F" confirms this.

Here is the doc mentioned.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/137539/en-us/

According to this document, your problem may be caused by;
-problems hardware or software, but the hardware failure is the most common cause.
-CPU overclocking (but I think we could exclude)
-corrupt (vivid RAM) memory
-malfunction of the motherboard

The last possibility would be the worst case, and I hope that it is 'ONLY' a bad RAM.

I think you should check your RAM modules and if possible test your laptop with new RAM modules

Good bye

After a restart, the laptop (with XP Pro with SP2 installation) does not start - it shows BSOD stop: c000021a (fatal system error) - windows logon process stops unexpectedly with status 0xc0000135.

I do not have an installation CD-ROM - only a CD-ROM for the regeneration of the product provided by the dealer. Running this will restore the original configuration of the software, losing all the following facilities, data, configuration, etc. Because I don't have a recent full backup at hand, I hesitate to use this CD-ROM.

Is there a less painful alternative? (Please say Yes and provide the necessary information!).

    Hello

you get the blue screen every time you start next.? If not, you can try to use safe mode when you press F8 after BIOS boot.

Then go in Mode safe and you could you data safe at first, then you could look if something does not work well.

If you cannot press F8 because the BSOD is faster than you ;-)

you could try the recovery CD Expert Mode.

  • Satellite M30, partitioning

After that I got some error messages and viruses so I had to format my laptop the Satellite M30.
I used the recovery CD Toshiba 2 and the only option for me was Option 1 Option 2 is reserved for specialists, and I'm not familiar with all the terms it. In any case, the formatting not only formatait the C:\ but D:\ thus merged the formerly 2 x 30 GB in a single C:\ partition, I had no option to stop this.
How can I split my C:\ drive again into 2 partitions of the same size?

Sorry, but the only way with the delivered software on a M30 to create partitions is the expert mode.
    As far as I know.

    But I have a proposal.

Tomorrow I'll do a recovery on my M30 will inform you as soon as possible.

  • Satellte M30: BSOD - KERNEL DATA INPAGE ERROR atapi.sys

    Hello

I really hope, really, that someone can help me. I'm no computer Wizard, so if you can help please give me simple instructions. My problem is that often my satellite M30 freezes and blue page happens to give me a warning.

Top of the page is KERNEL-DATA-INPAGE-ERROR, then goes on to say disable Options memory BIOS such as cache or shading, atapi.sys says below.

    So can someone please help.

    Thank you

    Hello

Because you are not a computer expert ;) I'll try to write as simply.
It looks more like a hardware problem as a problem of software!

But to be 100% sure, you should recover the laptop with the Toshiba Recovery CD supplied.
This CD will be programmed the laptop back to the factory setting and usually the laptop should work properly after the recovery of the new!

If you the BSOD will appear again the chances are high that memory, HARD drives and the motherboard is malfunctioning.

But because you are a beginner, I would not recommend trying to solve this problem yourself.
In this case, you must contact the ASP in your country!

    Good luck

  • Satellite M30, screen remains sometimes almost black after start up to several minutes

    Satellite M30, WinXP

Sometimes, the screen remains dark, which means that you can see that a little bit news startup in the background and also the Office of windows, up to 2 minutes before suddenly become really turned on.
Not even the latest version of the BIOS has a change. And what's weird, is it still does not appear. A non stop-and-shut-down-start sequence showed that it appears about 2 to 3 times.
    What could be the reason?

    Hi LeTom,

did you use the os recovery toshiba or a clean install?

It seems that the display shows a fault, then here are a few questions to play safely!

There the failure also occure when the Red Toshiba logo appears shortly after starting start?

If you are using a clean install of the OS, you need to do a complete new installation with the Toshiba Recovery CD (attention all data will be lost, make a backup).
Then, the laptop is set back to the default settings of the software and if the failure occurred, you should check the material by a Toshiba service partner!

I think that the M30 is still under warranty!

  • Satellite M30: Unknow Hard Error - could this be a problem of hard drive?

I got my Satellite M30 for 2 years now and it never gave me any problems, until a few weeks ago. The problem started shortly after I put Windows to SP2, when I played a game it would stick for a minute or two, and then continue on as usual, the problem slowly got worse and started blue screening with "Unknown hard error" and sometimes strange balloon in the lower right corner saying unknown hardware error and then freeze it. It also took a long time to start and generally do nothing.

Assumed it was a problem when I've upgraded to SP2, so I decided to reinstall Windows and start over again, update the BIOS while I was home.

Once this is done it seemed fine for an hour or two, but then tried to install a game and of course, the good old blue screen appears and the whole problem starts again.

I took it to a repair shop and explain the problem and I had re-installed Windows nothing helped, and I suspected that it may be a hardware failure, I left it with them, and 2 days later I get a call saying its all fixed and ready to be picked up, I asked what was wrong with it and they said that they re-installed Windows and sound now works fine (i.e. what I their) I said, I had made and n t worked!). I picked up (and got charged £40 to have done what I had already done). I got it home and everything seemed ok... for a few hours, then blue screens seemed to tell me any physical dumping of beginning and the usual stuff.

I think it might be a drive problem hard, like when I tried to install a game on it at night last light CD and HARD flash drive, one for about 15 seconds, then the other for a short time, data copied from one to the other, but then the HARD drive light stayed on, and I could hear the HARD disk as if it were sticky , after about a minute of this blue and close short-listed and took some time to turn back. If I leave a couple of hours and it starts fine until the next time.

So, after my long description on my problem, I have 2 questions,

    1. could I be right in thinking that these problems are associated with hard drive?
    2. If I'm right, is easy to replace on the M30 HARD drive and where I would buy a new?

Thanks for your time and help,

    Kenny.

    Hello

The blue screen appears only if you play games?

But I agree with you. In my opinion, there would really be a hardware malfunction.
The question is - it s a HARD drive or something different?
Hmmm. I think that the problem is not related to the disc HARD but maybe overheating?
According to the publication, sometimes when you play games. The game is a high performance application. All devices running with maximum performance and produce heat.

I m not 100% sure, but maybe the high temperature has a bad influence on the system and therefore the BSOD happens.
You suggested that the laptop run properly for about 2 years. Maybe fans can cool properly because of the dust and debris. Two years is a long time if you have not cleaned the cooling modules and fans.

  • Satellite M30 does not start

I have a satellite m30 a little more than two years. When I used it one day it started making a "scratching" noise, he locked himself, when I stopped saying something about the emptying of readers (?). now it won't start at all, is simply the "scratching" noise Anyone know what it is?

    Hi deb_uk

Generally, it should be a first think to try to boot from the CD and reinstall the operating system.
To boot from the CD press the C key immediately after starting the laptop (push the power button)

  • Sporadic satellite M30-304 USB failure mouse

Have the laptop above under XP. After that 2 years running a mouse USB laser without probs, suddenly the pointer stops for a few seconds, then takes over again, stops, starts etc. Very maddening. There is an error message saying every so often the device connected to the USB port is not installed correctly.

I uninstall the software for the mouse and the re - install, run all my anti-virus software and Tracker, still the same problem. the trackpad still works fine, so I decide it takes the mouse and buy a new one and install it. It worked fine for a few weeks now, so today the same problem!

Did he have the same problem or know a solution?

    Hello

    I don't use a Satellite M30 but a Satellite M40.
I use it for a year and I have no problem with my mouse.
I can't believe that the laptop has a malfunction, because as you say in your announcement of new mouse worked initially.
I have no idea why your mouse pointer stops. Maybe the mouse driver causes a strange failure.
You can also try to remove the shape of USB ports, Device Manager.
After restarting again the operating system should recognize the USB ports again with a standard configuration.
Then, you can try to reconnect the mouse.

You can also try to use the mouse without having to install the drivers for mouse manufacturing delivered. Check it out

  • Satellite M30-107 does not start successfully after using recovery disk

    Hello

I recently got my hands on a toshiba Satellite M30-107 laptop second hand and decided to freshen it.
I used the toshiba recovery disk, but after that the laptop is no longer support windows.

When turned on it shows booting Toshiba disc for about a second then goes to a screen blank and freezes.
When turned on, once again, a screen will appear an error by stopping and offer the opportunity to start in SafeMode etc but choose one of the options causes the machine to freeze.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Thank you
    JT

    Hello

Sounds a little like the laptop does not start because of the problem of Windows software
You did not recover the M30 with the original Toshiba that was provided with this device M30 recovery CD?

I may be wrong, but to me it looks like a recovery CD incorrect has been used and an image with drivers not compatible m has been installed

You can try to install the OS of Microsoft Win XP original CD and could check if it would be possible to get the notebook ruin using own BONE.

In this case we (you and me ;)) might know if this problem could be related to hardware or software.

    Good bye

  • Satellite M30: FN keys not working not not after installing IE7

I installed IE7 and noticed that the fn keys no longer work. (Satellite M30)
I don't know if it was the catalyst because I do not know how long the problem has been.

The only ones I use often are FN + f6 and f7 +.
I really need to be able to adjust the brightness of the screen. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello

First lights up the screen can be changed also in the Toshiba Power Saver utility.

But it s very strange that, after the IE7 update the FN keys stopped working. I installed the IE7 on my laptop, and the FN keys still work very well.

So maybe it of a simply wrung something in the registry. Who knows?  :|
I recommend reinstalling the common Modules.

    Maybe it helps!

  • Problems with the installation of recovery - Satellite A300D - BSOD

    Hello

The laptop in question (TOSHIBA Satellite A300D) recently stopped starting (BSoD).

So, I tried using the recovery disk, but there is no help. What happens is:
-After about 10 minutes of waiting, the first language menu load, so I click on "next".
    - Then I again click Next and accept the message that my HARD drive will be erased
    - Then I see a cmd prompt that says "try to remove all the letters of partitions possible...". »
-There is also a minimized command prompt that says something like "RAID failed to initialize."
    -And then nothing happens.

Is this a hardware problem? I also tried a full installation (instead of recovery), which, even once, is simply not. None of the errors is - it just freezes.

    Any help appreciated.
    Thank you.

It is not easy to tell what can be the problem, but if you were not able to install the OS by using two different facilities CDs/DVDs, so there must be a problem with the HARD drive.

    The warranty is still valid?
I mean you can contact the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and explain the situation. They can swap the HDD and again test the recovery procedure.
Can you get somewhere 2,5 SATA HDD for testing?

  • Some keys don't work no and Satellite M30 - 10 beeps

    Hello

I have a weird problem on my Satellite M30-10seven.

When I press some letter keys on the keyboard, that they do not work and the laptop will beep.

It started with miuj updown seven point eight right has failed.
But now I did and by commas and down and 8 make too as well as right.

I also choose the Boot option to the power upward I never had before and sometimes internet explore trying to full screen.

Probably not a key is pressed? Because as I said affect only some keys.

Since writing this j stopped again.

    Any ideas?

Try an external keyboard and see if that fixes the problem. If so, your keyboard needs to be replaced. If this is not the case, the keyboard on the motherboard controller has gone bad and you need a new motherboard. Also, try to download the update to the BIOS and see if that fixes the problem. Good luck.

  • Satellite M30-604: USB Port can not find the driver

    Hello

I keep having the same problem on my Satellite M30 604 when connecting to a USB device.
It does not really matter with this kind of device, the problem still.

Whenever I have insert the USB plug into one of the slots, my home XP keeps popping up the wizzard software.
Even with devices without drivers such as USB keys, it keeps bothering me and finally tells me that it cannot find the right driver.

If I try to install a printer, it installs the software found, but finally stops the operation because it can't find the driver (?). I don't know in what direction I should look at to solve this.

So if anyone can help me on this, I would be very grateful!
    Edwin

    Hello, Edwin

It's very strange because it is not necessary to install a USB driver and standard Microsoft USB driver should work well. I put t know if this can help, but please check this page

This fix is also part of the factory settings (recovery image on the delivered CD). By the way: your device is about three years old and it will be interesting to know since when you have this problem. Just for example: I have more Satellite 1900 with USB 1.0 and use USB keys and drive external HARD without any problem.

  • Satellite M30-853 - vertical white lines or black spots on the screen

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite M30 - 853 during nearly four years. A few days already, I'm having a problem that they come from the white lines vertical or black spots or screen is smear when I am trying to move a window from time to time. My wireless adapter is in use.

The vicinity of processor, video card and wireless network card are very hot. My cooling fan is starting and stopping, but I'm not sure of its effectiveness.

I disassembled the laptop to clean it if there is little to dust, but I found it in very good condition. Anyway, the problem persists and I am looking for decision. Someone told me that probably that's because of the defective video card memory. It's strange to me because the problem is not permanent it is often and if I try to cool the surface it disappears.

    I'd appreciate any suggestions.

In my opinion, these issues must be verified correctly. This can be done using different diagnostic tools. It is important to know what the problem cases.
Of course, it has something to do with the temperature of material and graphics card. Sorry but I'm really skeptical, you can do something alone. Maybe you should seek professional help.

  • Satellite M30 - beep Constant and powers On / Off by itself

Last night I turned on my laptop Satellite M30 Special Edition and the login page appears, as usual. However, after entering my password the screen just went black and is stuck like this. After waiting a few minutes, I turned off the computer (hard restart my only option) and that's what Toshiba technical support told me to do the last time this happened (a few years ago). This is where the real trouble started.

Tried to come back on the computer, but in addition to the white screen now is a constant beep sound (like a key is stuck perhaps). The only way to make the beeping stop was soft reboot of keys, which I did several times. CTRL-Alt-Del would stop the noise and computer would shut down for a few seconds, but then immediately join the beep goes again. I finally managed to get it remains powered off mode, which is the way he currently remains.

I tried to unplug the AC and remove the battery and nothing, which makes sense. Just AC, he did the same thing, so try does not seem to be a battery problem. Tried to power a few times and always the same situation - white screen, the beep and the need to hold the power button for a few seconds get the machine to stop and stay off.

    Help, please!

    June

P.S. I contacted support and they suggested to bring it to an authorized service center, but I don't want to pay large sums of money to fix something simple and and I don't want to pay for a serious problem that can't really be healed/fixed. Any advice or suggestions on what could be wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a hardware problem - probably the motherboard. The only solution would be to take it to a repair center.

I hope it's just a change in minor liquid that has damaged the keyboard, which should not be expensive to replace.
