Satellite M30: How recover without recovery CD?

I bought a Toshiba Satellite M30 laptop in June 2004 and the warranty is now expired. However, I realized recently that I have lost the recovery CD, or the seller has not provided a (I don't have it directly from Toshiba). "' I want to reinstall Windows XP (that came with my machine) and restore my computer to its factory condition" "- but I don't know the safest way to do it.

I have no CD of restoration. I looked on several websites that says burn the I386 folder that I have to drive, but I don't know if the solution is as simple as boot from this CD. Any help would be welcome!

Thank you very much.

Hello

  • Satellite M30: How disable the BIOS boot password?

    Hello

Before my vacation, I activated the startup password in the Bios. Now I want to turn this off, but it does not work. In the Bios, I can go to the Security tab, but I can't change the settings with the F5/F6 key or space. A beep is all I get. Entering on this point, I wonder to set a new password.

Anyone know how to disable the password for a Satellite M30? Please note that I have not forgotten my password, I can always start the machine.

    THX,

    Werner.

PS On this forum, I don't see any topic title, only the name of the authors. Is always normal? It is very convenient that way, but maybe it is related to my pc.

    Hello

I found a step by step explanation to clear a BIOS password:

"Turning on the computer from a State"off"with the ESC key. You are asked "password =". "

Enter the password, and then press ENTER. The unit will display: "the valid password is entered, the system starts up. Check the system. Press key (F1). »

Press the F1 key. This will start the device in the BIOS Setup mode.

Using the arrow keys or tab, move to the password field and select REGISTERED.

Press the SPACE bar, enter the password, and then press ENTER. For now, the password field is transformed into NON REGISTERED. »

    Hope this will help you.

  • Satellite M30 - how to replace the hinges?

    Hello!

Has anyone replaced the hinges on Satellite M30? Any help or a link to a manual would be useful.

    Thnx!

    Hello

Unfortunately, there is no manual maintenance on the page of Toshiba Europe. Only the authorized service provider got access to such manuals.

    I found this page:
    http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba_Satellite_M35/take_apart_notebook_1.htm

But I put t know if it will be useful for you.
Generally, I have to say that the replacement of hinges is not easy. It s really complicated because the laptop must be disassembled.
You must remove the mask of the display first and then have to remove the LCD screen before you could see the hinges.

To be honest I don't recommend trying to replace it with your own hand because you may damage other parts.
I recommend a visit to a local technician for laptop and I would like to ask for help.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite L550D-13V - how to recover without recovery disks?

    Hello

I had a big problem. Win 7 Home Premium 64 BIT crashed on my satellite L550D-13V.

I tried to fix it, but it does not work. So I decided to recover via HARD disk utility.
Everything seems to be okay, but ultimately the tool said that errors have occurred. I tried to get it back again, but the process aborted with blue screen "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" this time.

After reboot system told me that no bootmgr is available. I tried to start using the recovery disk, but it also seems to be defective because the system cannot boot from the disks.

And there is my problem. I cannot start / retrieve now. Volume D seems to be OK - the HARD disk utility files are still available, but I can't create a new recovery disks and it is not possible to start in disk utility.

    You have any ideas?

Thanks in advance and best regards
    Danny

    Hello

    The story is strange
I m wondering why you are not able to boot from the recovery disc?
Have you used the recovery disk created in the past or have you tried this drive for the first time?

However, with regard to the error message: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
I googled for that and it sounds like it could be linked to the fault memory.
Perhaps one of the failures modules.

Of course, this is just a personal opinion

If a HARD drive folder is available on your HARD drive, then there is a small chance of getting the recovery of HARD drive to work. Here's an interesting thread:

Hmm maybe the DMI contains the name of the laptop bad.
In this case, recovery cannot be installed because the notebook believes the recovery for a laptop CD.

Do I use both drives just to make or use the disks of product supplied with the system recovery media.
So it is all the drivers and others will be that they find on the disks that I created or I have to search for them and other programs such as my programs anti-virus and others.

    Cheers for any help

I guess that you didn t read all topics here in the forum about the recovery procedure?
    Right?
So I recommend to do this because this theme is one of the topics most asked here in the forum!

PS: You need to boot from the recovery disk and having to follow the instructions on the screen.
Recover disc will format the whole HARD drive and will set the laptop to the State as on the first day of purchase.

I bought recovery disks for my laptop.
I got 2 drives Toshiba. Article R10249DU on the two number.

However, when should I use disc 2? I was not invited to use it.

    Hello

I don t know why you have two drives, but if the installation from the first disc went well, so everything should be ok, and you should be able to start Notepad and should be able to complete the installation of Vista.

You have completed the installation of Vista successfully?

  • Satellite L40 - how to restore factory settings?

I really hope that someone can help me before I break my laptop.

I have a portable Satellite L40, who started showing an error logonui.exe on the login page, at the same time, the error avrt.dll started and my sound stopped working.
I tried to put a new avrt.dll file, which it won't let me.
So I decided to do a clean install of the operating system (vista).

I don't have a recovery disk to do it well, so I tried to do a factory reset, by pressing F11, 0 and C, I was able to access the page where you enter your product key, which said while the sources\install.wim was not present and could not continue.
Then I tried F8 Repair computer, that when he goes to the page with 6 options, does give me the option of HARD drive recovery, it is said to restore complete windows, but don't give out information when I press on it.

Does anyone know if there is a way to solve this problem, as I'm getting rather annoyed now. Thank you

    Hey Buddy

As I m wrong not Sat L40 has not was equipped with HARD drive recovery option.
So, you won't be able to recover without recovery disks or Microsoft Windows disk.

Put the recovery disk (if you don t have this recovery disk using your own drive of Microsoft Windows) and boot from the CD or DVD.
The required drivers are available on the Toshiba page and you could download it after the installation of the OS Win.

Notes; you need the serial key of Microsoft to activate windows. You cannot use the Toshiba serial key which is placed at the bottom of the unit. It belongs to the preinstalled OEM version and will not work with your private version

  • Satellite M30 restart

    Hi all

I have a Satellite M30, which, after a few years of loyal and troubled, free service began to take a few minutes to start. I tried to fix this using the product recovery discs but can get no more than the screen asks me to insert the disc 1. After a few minutes of a blank screen, there is a beep and an 'error' message.

Can t really afford a new laptop and I'm a little worried about buying a 2nd hand, so this is my last hope.

Read what people are saying in these forums, I feel out of my depth and probably wont be able to understand all the answers that come my way. But if someone have any ideas then please let me know. Thank you. getcarter

P.S. I was in a curry the other day looking at all the laptops I could t afford, when I heard someone who brought a Toshiba and seemed to have the same problem. Unfortunately, the Currys staff didn't have much of a clue and could only think of hitting the 'C' button over and over and over and over again!

As far as I know Satellite M30 comes with 2 recovery CD (1/2 and 2/2).
The recovery procedure must be started with CD1/2. Check this and that!

Is knowledge how laptop computer recovery without a disk?

I am new to this problem

    Thank you!

    Hello!

First of all, you should check the user manual. There you can find all the details on how to recover a Toshiba laptop.

In any case, if your laptop came without recovery disk you can create one using the Toshiba recovery disc creator. That's why you need one or two DVDs and then you have factory on a DVD.
If you created the recovery disk, you can boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen. Windows will be reinstalled, and you get back to factory settings.

But you can also recovery a Toshiba laptop without recovery disk. So go to the F8 advanced boot menu and choose fix my computer. Now, you can choose the Toshiba Recovery option and follow the instructions on the screen.

If you have any other questions, you can search a bit in the forum. You will find a sufficient number of threads on the recovery procedure.
In addition, you must check this document:
