Hello

Normally, you will find the driver on the utility CD & Tools that came with the device. But you can also find some drivers on the Toshiba site.

  • High temperature CPU on Satellite M30

    Hello

I have a Satellite M30 852 with Pentium M 1.5 GHz processor. My problem is that the heater does not start until the CPU temperature reached 70 degrees, which I think is a bit high, no mention that when it has reached this temperature I can not keep the laptop on my legs because it burns... and also to kind of warm around the touchpad and left side of the keyboard.

My question is if there is any software I can use to take the cooler start at low temperatures, to keep, or if there is no setting I can adjust the laptop utilities to solve this problem (in addition to throttle CPU cooling where is defined in the performance).

    Thank you all in advance!

Could PS: Anyone tell me which button support when starting, to get into the BIOS...? Because the F1, esc or del does not work.

    Hello

The temperature of 70 ° C nothing unusual and in my opinion not too high.
Is that it s not recommended to use the laptop on your legs or in bet, etc.
You should always be sure that there is enough free space (left, right, bottom) around the laptop for the circulation of fresh air!

Usually, the Toshiba power saver controls the cooling method and the CPU processing speed. If you want to change some settings you should the fact in the basic power saver menu.

PS: on m30 the phoenix BIOS has been installed and therefore, you should use the F2 key.

  • Satellite M30: colored lines running vertically on the screen

    Hello

Ive had a problem with the display on my satellite M30. I can start in fine etc windows but colorful lines going up and down my screen, as well as the general artifacts. I cant even install drivers nvidia without a blue screen.

The strange thing is that if I apply pressure to the left side of my touchpad, I install the drivers and all is well! Release the pressure and the computer crashes. Ive opened the laptop and can't find anything that could be the cause.

    Any idea here?

    Maki43

    Hello

You can check if the problem is related to the LCD or the graphics card.
Try to connect the external monitor and check if the lines appear on the second screen.
If the lines appear not the graphics card should be ok.

Have you tried to install the graphics driver on the Nvidia site? These drivers are not designed for use on the Toshiba laptop. You must use own graphics drivers of Toshiba, because drivers support a protection against overheating.
If the temperature rises to highest, the Toshiba drivers critical level will be decrease the performance of the graphics card.
Other graphics drivers don t support that such function and, therefore, the graphics chip can overheat!

In any case, I think that also the technician must check the laptop

  • Ports COM1-4 'missing' Satellite M30

Hello, communication ports (COM1-4) series of my sound of portable Satellite M30 suddenly "disappeared", or, at least, Window XP (Home version) is unable to detect them - through the management of resources or similar tools of surveillance - only parallel port (LPT1) is reported.
Problem is that the modem (internal standard) (by default on COM3) is unable to work. Modem seems ok - at least according to Windows - but, as you can guess, it cannot accept AT command (and therefore start up).
Everything else seems to work fine - including the Infrared Port, which should work, by default, on COM4? and mouse Touchpad. No problem i/o and IRQ address is detected on the other peripherls.
Only the system serial port driver (serial.sys) is alarmed that unable to boot because.
..??? .. Even thought a hardware problem - ex.electrostatic discharge or similar? - but a couple of days ago the modem starts unexpectedly and worked correctly for long enough - even if with the COM ports still without being detected by Windows - but after connection went down and modem could not start (Error 633: modem, a device already in service or other problems of configuration...).
.. Before proceeding to more annoying (and probably expensive) actions - such as reinstalling Windows?... or looking for a repair center - I wanted to try to replace the driver (serial.sys) series, but I was unable to find it-in the CD provided with the product or on the Toshiba site. Where can I find it?
    Other suggestions?
    Thank you

    Hello

Don t look for serial port drivers. These ports are using simply common Microsoft Windows drivers!
According to your description there are different problems with different internal devices.

If all goes well it of not a hardware problem?  :|

So in my opinion we must first know if it s a software or hardware problem.
In this case you take your original Toshiba Recovery CD and must be reinstalled the operating system.

Note; the whole HARD disc will be fomrated and you will lose data. So, don t forget to back up your data.

If the new installation of the operating system didn't help any, and you will always receive error messages the technician must check the laptop!

    Good luck

  • The screen is black, but working satellite M30

I have a satellite M30, I was watching a movie through another monitor when the battery is dead.

Now, when I restart, the screen is blank. If I attach to the other monitor it works fine, but pressing the "Fn + F5" key will not bring my screen to life.

    All ideas are welcome.

    Hello

The Fn + F5 key combination is one of the two screen options for change.

I think that you will find an option to change the display in the properties of the graphics.
You must mark the monitor 1 and check the use this device as the primary monitor

I think that this should allow the screen of the laptop.

  • Satellite M30: Questions about the battery, SD, energy-saving card reader

    1. After looking through the forums, it seems that my problem is not uncommon: my Toshiba Satellite M30 seems to have a life of the battery for about 10 minutes. Power not connected to the adapter, Windows detects 100%... 99%... Then 3%. Throughout the life of the battery is about 10 minutes, and I don't know why. Does anyone know? (Info from BG: laptop about 2 years, not too used)

    2. How will I know exactly WHAT model of Toshiba Satellite M30 I? (There is a code after the M30-part - I need this to find out what batteries I need to buy to replace)

    3. What is the nearest Service Center, I can talk to the United Kingdom with regard to my battery problem? From Toshiba Web site lists 20 companies different with Toshiba in them to the United Kingdom, and I have no idea which we touch!

    4. my SD card reader is a bit faulty. To put a SD card, no message appears to recognize the card - the laptop just doesn't recognize at all, and I do not see "SD card" or equivalent in "My Computer". However, if I put an SD card, and then restart the computer, I can see the SD card, it simply does not update while the computer is on, when I restart - cures for this?

    5. Finally, can I download the software of management of TOSHIBA POWER SAVER? I downloaded from this site but right now the only option when I open the TOSHIBA CONSOLE is 'Mouse' - there is no standby power options or network options or anything.

Thanks in advance, sorry there are so many questions and they are so different!

    Cheerio,
    John

    Hello

    1) looks like a dead battery. It s not unusual that the battery will discharge performance after about 2 years. As far as I remember, you can load and unload the battery for about 500 times. After this period, the lifetime battery decreases faster. The same symptom occurs for example with a cell phone battery. I think you should ask the new battery Toshiba service partner. PS: The guarantee covers the battery for about a year.

    (2) it's very easy at the bottom of the unit, you will find a label with the serial number and the name of detailed specifications.

    (3) visit this site:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/Su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?PF=true
You will find the database with ASP together all over the world. These guys are responsible for replacements, repairs, etc.

    (4) number of SD card is very strange. On my Satellite SD card window opens if I insert the SD card. You can try to remove the SD card from the Device Manager reader and after that new reboot, the OS should has new charge card CD driver. Eventually, it helps.

    (5) I don't know what you mean exactly but on the Toshiba driver page, you will find the tool power Toshiba compatible and taken in charge. If you have downloaded from the area Sat M30 driver so I think you can use it only on this laptop.

    take easy B-)

  • Satellite M30 WiFi adapter doesn't work anymore

In recent days the card wifi in my Satellite M30 had a way to die once a day.
The first time that I have had a light and I saw when I turn it on and goes off. So which did not help to get it going again, I decided to reboot and wifi is dead completely.

Later, when I did a scan for changes on the hardware in the Device Manager, the adapter popped up in the list of devices again and works perfectly.
At least until our days. A few hours it died again for no obvious reason, and now I can't simply it back at all.
I will mention that yesterday the light back on once I did this analysis for material changes and managed to do that work again.

When I tried to update the drivers it keep telling me that the drivers are up to date and now I don't know what to do.
Is it a hardware problem and what can I do about it?
This laptop is 4 years old and well used a few days ago BTW, but it has never been removed and I have never had to send in for service.

I'd appreciate any help I can get.

    Christa

    Hello

It is certainly only a hardware problem and it cannot be solved by the exchange of the wireless LAN card. You can check if it works on linux (just download a knoppix live CD for example and let the operating system recognizes the card Wi - Fi - if he won´t recognize then it s certainly broken).

You could also contact an authorized Service provider and request a health check of material but I guess they'll charge you for it.

    You have the choice... :)

    Welcome them

  • Satellite M30, partitioning

After that I got some error messages and viruses so I had to format my laptop the Satellite M30.
I used the recovery CD Toshiba 2 and the only option for me was Option 1 Option 2 is reserved for specialists, and I'm not familiar with all the terms it. In any case, the formatting not only formatait the C:\ but D:\ thus merged the formerly 2 x 30 GB in a single C:\ partition, I had no option to stop this.
How can I split my C:\ drive again into 2 partitions of the same size?

Sorry, but the only way with the delivered software on a M30 to create partitions is the expert mode.
    As far as I know.

    But I have a proposal.

Tomorrow I'll do a recovery on my M30 will inform you as soon as possible.

Hi, congratulations on your Satellite M30!

Cold machine. Well I'd keep it very simple. Redefine your laptop to factory settings (Simple recover using the CD or the DVD delivered).

If the won´t still card Wifi works, there will be a material damage on your laptop.

Please let the dealer take a look on your machine.

  • Upgrade CPU on Satellite M30 106

    Hi people

    Could with help please?

Just got an old Toshiba Satellite M30-106, a few weeks ago and [to be fair] it works OK with xp on it. I bought another 2 gig DDR which brings speed wise difference, but I can move the processor to the Intel® Pentium® M processor 725 1.60 GHz FSB: 400 MHz, 2: 2 MB level cache that s in there earlier?

Can she take a CPU more high if so what s the highest? Would be very graciously tips please.

    Thanks in advance...

At first, I must say that I agree with you that this laptop will work with Windows XP Home edition. At least this laptop model is designed for Windows XP Home edition. ;)

I found some info on the processors on Satellite M30:
+ The Satellite M30 computer is equipped with a processor Intel Banias who +.
    + integrates mathematical co-processor, memory 64 KB of L1 cache and a 1 MB L2 cache.
+ memory. The processor works with one of the following speeds: +.
    + Processor Intel Banias 1.40 GHz (1.35v) / 1.20 GHz (0.85V) +.
    + Processor Intel Banias 1.50 GHz (1.35v) / 1.20 GHz (0.85V) +.
    + Processor Intel Banias 1.60 GHz (1.35v) / 1.20 GHz (0.85V) +.
    + Processor Intel Banias 1.70 GHz (1.35v) / 1.20 GHz (0.85V) +.

Then maybe you can use the fastest processor 1.70 GHz. I don't think you'll see the difference.
Best thing you can do is upgrade RAM to max and optimize Windows XP Home pre-installed, and you will be happy with this good old classic.

  • Satellite M30 - what compatible HARD drive can I use?

    Hello

My Satellite M30 hard drive crashed (after 3 years of intensive use). I would like to replace it, but I don't know which drive is suitable (SATA, ATA 6... etc). The original for this computer hard disk is the MK6021GAP.

Can someone hep me on this subject? By the way, is - it complicated to replace the hard drive on this computer?

    Thank you

Use the advanced search of this forum and you will get several results with different threads on the same topic.
The replacement is not difficult. At the bottom f the unit, you will find a HARD drive Bay. Armand, remove the cover and cut the shape of the disk of the controller. But be careful.

  • CPU frequency and bus on Satellite M30 is too low

    Hello

The processor and my Satellite M30 bus seems to be significantly under speed. According to Windows XP Pro and Solaris Nevada, the processor is clocked at 600 MHz. The frequency of the BIOS, scaling parameter is set to "Still high", and I tried to disable ACPI in the operating system (ensuring no interference on the software side), without result. Power in the Toshiba Power Saver settings are all maxed out, so no scaling should be there either. Intel Processor Identification Utility reports the following:

    Reported expected
    Speed: 1.60 GHz GHz 0.44
System bus: 400 MHz 294 MHz

Note that the tool uses algorithms to determine the speed, rather than trusting the value returned by the operating system, that one of her aims purposes is testing for fraudulenty CPU overclocked by OEMs. The speed as it is for me is even more disappointing. I don't know how long it has been like that, but one thing to note is that the motherboard has been replaced last summer.

Someone has an idea what here? Thank you.

Edit: I also loaded the CPU with CPU-Burn to see if some heavy loads would get understandingly frequency. It has no effect.

    Hello

If you use the advanced search option, you will find a few similar topics with the explanation very clear why unit works with 600 MHz only.

In any case, after the replacement motherboard service must blink mainboard firmware. After doing this it will work at full speed. Because of this, I guess they forgot to do.

It is not a big problem. Please contact again and explain the situation.

  • Size Max HDD satellite M30

    Hi all

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite M30 laptop with a defective HARD drive, I m wondering what is the maximum size that I can put in this thing, I have a 250 GB drive, I can use, but don't know if he will be able to set the player in its actual size

On this old laptop model you can only use hard drives with IDE connector, and as Akuma have already written, there is limitation of 128 GB so I recommend you buy 100 GB IDE HARD drive and I think he will be OK for this older model laptop.
