Satellite M40X Screen Display problem

My Satellite M40X has a black vertical line which occupies 20% of the screen on the left side. The rest of the screen shows a full view. Change the display settings makes no difference, and there is no mention of this error in the manual. You don't know whether a problem with the LCD screen or a problem with the adapter and drivers. Wanted to check if someone has experienced something similar and can advise you.

Hello

Check using an external monitor.

If the same vertical line would be seen on the external monitor, an internal graphics card problem may be possible
In this case replace the defective

Since the GPU is a part of the mobo, you need to replace the motherboard that can be a costly affair

  • Satellite M40X-230: display fault - vertical lines

My laptop crashed last night and on itself reboot screen displayed (spaced on each 8mm) vertical dotted lines and then crashes with the following message (edited for the relevant points)

"Windows was arrested to avoid any damage to your computer.
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ati2dvag...
The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver...
    "Technical information: * STOP: 0x000000EA (0x822185B0, 0xF8972CB4, 0 x 82133288, 0x00000001)".

The screen is damaged now wherever the phone is turned on.

However, if I have it start again, after the error, then mode message without failure, once Windows is used the display looks good (he is still defective prior to this, however). The same fault also occurs with an external monitor.

I tried to uninstall the driver for the graphics card, but that makes no difference.

Any ideas? I would like to reinstall windows, but that the fault if poster before the aircraft reach POST I really don't think that will make all the difference. That the screen is in Mode safe but not while it is booting up also does very much make sense to me either.

Thank you very much to get this far in my ramblings.

    Rich

    Hello

    According to the error message:
"... This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver... »

It may be a faulty graphics card because the same defect appears on the external display. But diagnostic tests are required to be 100% sure what s the fault could be.
The Toshiba service partner can start the test and then can give you some details about the failure. So, in my opinion, you should contact Toshiba service partner in your country.

  • Satellite M40x-230 - display driver lost

    Hi, I'm new here.

I've had this laptop model Toshiba Satellite M40x-230 for about 4-5 years now. The hard drive is full so I thought I would like to remove some unwanted files. I did 2 things

    (1) uninstall some programs that I don't use anymore
    (2) use Disk Cleanup to delete unused files.
I thought I knew exactly what I was remove, but when I did, I found that the display went bizarre.
When I checked, I found that it was showing only a default driver. Worse still, when I went in the trash to try to undo what I had done, he has no files inside.
I tried to do a system restore, but it does not work.

I went on the site of Toshiba and sought the drivers for my laptop. There are 2 options. I downloaded all of them and tried to install. The first one (Intel) said my system did not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. The other is (ATI) said the length of the specified directory path and the name of the installation folder exceeds 88 characters and to shorten it?

Please can someone help me get my display back to how it was. It of usable but looks terrible and base.

I know I'm a model so please be gentle with me.

    Hello

    Try this one:

    ATI

    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/display-20080416165814.zip

    or
    Intel

    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/display-20080416165832.zip

I don't know if your laptop is equipped with Ati or Intel, that's why I posted 2 drivers.

    :)

  • Screen display problem. See below for details. Impossible to get original Windows display fills it fullscreen display.

My laptop closed spontaneously mode 256 colors and the "battery".  When I tried to turn it on again it would not respond.  I ended up using Ctrl-Alt-Del to stop it completely.  When I turned the computer back on it gave me a message on the "color mode" bubble and the screen looked "not normal."  I clicked on the bubble who said it would be 'restore' or something to that effect to the screen.  When he finished, I had a smaller screen display large icons.  Then I went into Control Panel and tried to get back to my original windows desktop and after much research, etc. have a "smaller version" of a desktop with the margins side black (approximately 1 inch wide).  I can't my screen fills the entire screen, regardless of what I do.  The option "stretch" in advanced settings is not the case.  What can I do?

  • Satellite L670D-13F 17.3 inch laptop - screen display problems

    Hello.

I got my Satellite for nearly a year, and in recent weeks, the screen has been compromised. Turquoise/Blue thin line across something are white or tinted white. I hope it's nothing related to the virus, as I installed McAffee.

Any ideas what this could be? Is this a known issue?

    Thank you.

    Hello

According to your description, a thin line appears on the screen. Right?
Well, I doubt that this issue has something to do with the software or virus
It seems that the problem of material: I m thinking display or graphics card problem.

Connect an external monitor to the computer and check if the same think that the line would be available on the 2nd monitor.
If this will not appear on the external monitor then it would mean that only the internal display is affected.

  • Satellite 1100 Z6 display problems

    Hello

I have a Satellite 1100 Z6 and the screen does not appear correctly. It seems to show what I can only describe as a low resolution image.

I instslled the last card (downloaded at Toshiba) Intel graphics driver and my settings are 1024 x 768 at 60 Hz and I have tried tweeking the settings but without success.

I believe that the cause is due to an incorrect display driver and not the graphics driver that my display driver shows as a standard 'Digital Flat Panel' under hardware devices. I tried several drivers display different but once again with no luck.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Hello

Sorry, but I don't see any problem here. Your device has 14.1 "TFT color display. The resolution is 1024 x 768. If this resolution is shown, that there is no problem at all.

  • Satellite M115-S1061 - display problem - bad colors

According to my daughter, his portable Satellite under XP - SP2 suddenly went dim. At first I thought that it would be the backlight inverter, so I got a replacement, but to change that did not make any improvement.

Experiment with display settings it became apparent that a lot of the display of colors were not what they should have been and I started thinking about something had happened to the LCD screen or its wire causing the loss of one of the primary colors for example: Blue however, after restart I have observed a lot of blue in the diplay up to what fully loaded XP.

Display themes and by setting to try to get a useable simple, it became more and more obvious that there is some type of ongoing video inversion.

That said, I can't find any setting that could cause this or any similar report of this disease. I scanned for any viruses and returned only several points without results or imprivement of restoration.

The driver has not been updated, so it there is no possibility of returning to a previous iteration and are looking for a update indicates the current dirver is the last.

In addition, as indicated, during the first boot, the screen seems to be relatively normal brightness and colors are properly...
It is not until the Office XP launch things go astray.

Any help would be greatly appreciated that the school is in session, and I be get this resolved and getting a new laptop!

    TIA,
    Bob

    Hello

    > Also, as indicated, during the first boot, the screen seems to be relatively normal brightness and colors are properly... It is not until the Office XP launch things go astray.
From your description, I think that this could be a graphics card problem.

I would really recommend connecting an external monitor, second to this laptop to check if the same wrong colors would be visible on the external monitor.

If the same bad colors will appear simultaneously on the second monitor then the question could be really related to a bad GPU chip

In this case a replacement (motherboard) would be necessary

    Bye & welcome

  • Satellite M60-167: display problem

    Hello

3 days ago, I bought a new Satellite M60-167. Now I have some problems with my screen, maybe it's broken. Whenever the screen resolution changes, I have a few white artifacts (looks like white stripes) in the upper right corner. If I have the black wallpaper there is a grey area that is dark at this angle. Now, I want to know if this is normal or my screen is broken and need to be changed.
    Please respond quickly!

  • Black screen / display problems

    I have a MBPR13"(early 2015) which I think has integrated graphics intel 6100.

I've been running windows via bootcamp on the mac since I bought it, first with win8.1 and for a year or two, win10. A couple of weeks, however, windows crashed and wouldn't start. I can boot into safe mode after 3 failed attempts at normal mode, but I couldn't diagnose the problem. I took the opportunity to carry out a complete new installation of OSX and Windows 10.

However, while OSX continues to work very well, Windows 10 still will not work. It installs successfully, and then gets to the point where the wizard Bootcamp installs all the drivers - it seems to be ok until that display then goes off - I guess that's the point where the display drivers are installed. Windows is still underway, but all I get is a white screen.

After much mucking to plug and unplug the screens I can sometimes get an image on an external monitor or on the built-in screen. The computer screen does not fill the screen (bottom 25% of the screen remains empty) and windows cannot detect both screens at the same time. In any case, in a few seconds to lift an image on the screen, windows crashes and restarts.

I suspect that it is a driver problem, probably related to a recent windows update - note my new installation is based on the current windows (as of today ' hui) 10 ISO download available from microsoft, so I guess this includes all applicable updates and I have no way to drive to a previous version.

Can someone from apple what comments can you do on this point, hopefully identify that it's just a driver problem and update the bootcamp windows software support for my MBP so I can get Windows successfully facing up and running? Otherwise, any other suggestions on a fix?

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

Updated - uninstall the display driver Intel 6100 temporarily solves the problem (of a point - the works of laptop display once again, but of course without hardware acceleration or connectivity external monitor), although 10 windows automatically reinstalls the drivers a few seconds later, resulting in the return of the issue.

I was able to continue to use the laptop only by disabling the graphics card. However this clearly is not a solution, but simply points to the fact that the display driver is the issue.

Everything apple comments? Surely, this affects a lot of users and not just me? Is an update to the driver on the way?

  • Satellite Pro 4600: display problem

The laptop overheated (for the previous owner). When I bought it all was going well, but after 2 days (not more), the screen started showing artifacts many and varied, beginning with the Toshiba start screen.

Can it be cured without changing the motherboard or a Toshiba scored another goal by integrating everything?

You bought a second hand unit?
I'm afraid, it seems that you have bought a laptop with the hardware malfunction m

Well, I think the problem is the graphics card. This could be a previous result of overheating
But have you tried to connect the laptop to the external display?

In this case, you can check if the same problems appear on the external display.
If yes--> the graphics card to the Board of Directors must be corrupted
If not-> there could be something wrong with the screen of the laptop or part of the screen

  • T61 button on-screen display problems

Hello, I had a problem with my T61 and I was wondering if someone here could help me. My laptop recently crashed, having the blue screen on startup, what reinstall me Windows Vista again and everything. I managed to recover all my files and everything seems to be back to normal with the exception of a few things. First thing that annoys me the most is that whenever I use my volume buttons on the keyboard, the volume up and down works but does not appear in green text, as before, say what volume number. In addition, my silence affects only the volume mute but not to reactivate the volume later. As the top and down the volume buttons, shortcut keys Fn + Home and Fn + end to increase or decrease the brightness of the screen work, but do not display the text on the green screen. Another problem I have is that my blue ThinkVantage button next to the volume buttons does nothing. Finally, my biggest battery icon appearing any more in the toolbar to the left of the clock and icons of small image next to the clock. I hope that these problems can be solved through these forums and I thank very you much for your help!

Sweet, I got it fixed. I thought I ran an update of the system already but obviously not. Thanks for your help!
