Satellite M60-167: display problem

Hello

3 days ago, I bought a new Satellite M60-167. Now I have some problems with my screen, maybe it's broken. Whenever the screen resolution changes, I have a few white artifacts (looks like white stripes) in the upper right corner. If I have the black wallpaper there is a grey area that is dark at this angle. Now, I want to know if this is normal or my screen is broken and need to be changed.
Please respond quickly!

Hello

Although it is very difficult to say what may be the problem but I don t think that it s a normal question. It s a new laptop computer, and if you're not sure if it s a default display, or everything you need to bring this unit to your dealer. Check it out! It is perhaps necessary to replace the failover of the s display can get a new

Thank you very much for your theory.

    AX.

    Hi Axel

My theory is that there may be some problem with button / stop himself (white metal under the button), or perhaps with several Planar cable wire.

Also, for me it is definitely hardware problem. If you want, you can contact the partner of service allowed in your country and see what they have to say about it.

    Hello

Generally, tools and Utilities CD should be delivered with your laptop.
On this CD you will find all the required drivers for Windows XP. You can use the same drivers WinXP Pro.
If you install the drivers if you do it in the right order.
Installing the chipset utility is very important. This must be done first.
In addition, you must pilot your controller CardBus PCMCIA cardbus.

    Hello

    > Laptop computer just turn off after a few minutes of work.
    > Then I format C with Windows XP Pro, but it turns off as before.

I think this sentence is the key description resembles your laptop could overheat and automatically stops.
Why is this happening? Well, the laptop could overheat temperature high inside the laptop. It will stop automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.

My long experience, a clogged cooling fans could be responsible for the bad cooling and the temperature high.

    So what to do?  :|
In my opinion, he must clean the fans to get rid of dust and debris.

The jet of compressed air is very useful tool and could help you to clean the fans.

Hope this helps to get the laptop running.

  • No updated driver in dxdiag (Satellite M60) to display ATI

I bought a Satellite M60-139 last week and I have huge problems with various games, gel, so I started to update my drivers. However after downloading and installing the ATI display driver, restart the pc and check dxdiag and the hardware Manager, there still appear to be the original version of the pilot in the video (i.e. the version number and date is not updated)... Am I missing something or is the file on the toshiba site not a 'good' new version of the driver after all?

Thank you very much for help!

    Hello Carsten

In my opinion, it was the right decision. If all goes well there is no malfunction of the equipment. Have you had the same problem running different applications or games?

  • Sims2 does not start on my satellite m60-167

anyone has an idea why the sims2 does not work on my laptop? This shows only the logo and claims "sims2 noticed a problem and has to be finished."
Why? There is no clonecd installed etc....
everything seems to be on the new standard on my laptop. What is going on?
Thank you very much for the help.

    Hello Petra

It is very strange because the Satellite M60 has a very powerful graphics card. As you know on this path, it is not easy to give a precise answer. Sims2 is known to me, but I've never tried.

Usually some games detect a problem with the performance of the graphics card, but the error message which mentioned is unfortunately not accurate. Thank you for visiting the SIMS2 support page. Toshiba doesn't support game problems and you have more chance to get some tips on the SIMS2 support page.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite 1100 Z6 display problems

    Hello

I have a Satellite 1100 Z6 and the screen does not appear correctly. It seems to show what I can only describe as a low resolution image.

I instslled the last card (downloaded at Toshiba) Intel graphics driver and my settings are 1024 x 768 at 60 Hz and I have tried tweeking the settings but without success.

I believe that the cause is due to an incorrect display driver and not the graphics driver that my display driver shows as a standard 'Digital Flat Panel' under hardware devices. I tried several drivers display different but once again with no luck.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Hello

Sorry, but I don't see any problem here. Your device has 14.1 "TFT color display. The resolution is 1024 x 768. If this resolution is shown, that there is no problem at all.

  • Satellite M40X Screen Display problem

My Satellite M40X has a black vertical line which occupies 20% of the screen on the left side. The rest of the screen shows a full view. Change the display settings makes no difference, and there is no mention of this error in the manual. You don't know whether a problem with the LCD screen or a problem with the adapter and drivers. Wanted to check if someone has experienced something similar and can advise you.

    Hello

    Check using an external monitor.

If the same vertical line would be seen on the external monitor, an internal graphics card problem may be possible
In this case replace the defective

Since the GPU is a part of the mobo, you need to replace the motherboard that can be a costly affair

  • Satellite M115-S1061 - display problem - bad colors

According to my daughter, his portable Satellite under XP - SP2 suddenly went dim. At first I thought that it would be the backlight inverter, so I got a replacement, but to change that did not make any improvement.

Experiment with display settings it became apparent that a lot of the display of colors were not what they should have been and I started thinking about something had happened to the LCD screen or its wire causing the loss of one of the primary colors for example: Blue however, after restart I have observed a lot of blue in the diplay up to what fully loaded XP.

Display themes and by setting to try to get a useable simple, it became more and more obvious that there is some type of ongoing video inversion.

That said, I can't find any setting that could cause this or any similar report of this disease. I scanned for any viruses and returned only several points without results or imprivement of restoration.

The driver has not been updated, so it there is no possibility of returning to a previous iteration and are looking for a update indicates the current dirver is the last.

In addition, as indicated, during the first boot, the screen seems to be relatively normal brightness and colors are properly...
It is not until the Office XP launch things go astray.

Any help would be greatly appreciated that the school is in session, and I be get this resolved and getting a new laptop!

    TIA,
    Bob

    Hello

    > Also, as indicated, during the first boot, the screen seems to be relatively normal brightness and colors are properly... It is not until the Office XP launch things go astray.
From your description, I think that this could be a graphics card problem.

I would really recommend connecting an external monitor, second to this laptop to check if the same wrong colors would be visible on the external monitor.

If the same bad colors will appear simultaneously on the second monitor then the question could be really related to a bad GPU chip

In this case a replacement (motherboard) would be necessary

    Bye & welcome

  • Satellite Pro 4600: display problem

The laptop overheated (for the previous owner). When I bought it all was going well, but after 2 days (not more), the screen started showing artifacts many and varied, beginning with the Toshiba start screen.

Can it be cured without changing the motherboard or a Toshiba scored another goal by integrating everything?

You bought a second hand unit?
I'm afraid, it seems that you have bought a laptop with the hardware malfunction m

Well, I think the problem is the graphics card. This could be a previous result of overheating
But have you tried to connect the laptop to the external display?

In this case, you can check if the same problems appear on the external display.
If yes--> the graphics card to the Board of Directors must be corrupted
If not-> there could be something wrong with the screen of the laptop or part of the screen

    Hello

This problem can occur if you plug a USB device high power as a hard drive USB, the USB device consumes more than 500 my power.
To work around this problem, you must supply the external power USB device if it is available for the device. For example, you can use an AC adapter to power the USB device.
