  This old model of laptop is not designed and not supported for Win7, so it won't be easy to find the right drivers for this good old classic.
  Only alternative drivers are hardware manufacturer, but I don't think old material will be supported for the new operating system.

  How old is your M50? It must be about 4 years old.

  Your laptop is designed for Windows XP Home edition and the hardware specifications are completely different on laptop designed for Vista or Win7 new.
  Anyway, you can try to install Win7, but the problem is that this oldie is not supported and you will not find drivers Toshiba, tools and utilities for it.

  A slot is placed under the keyboard and location for additional memory module is in the lower corner in the Middle under the memory cover.

  Ive had my Toshiba laptop a couple of weeks now and the stability of wireless is trying to grind on me...

  I had an older Toshiba laptop that I have connected to my linksys router with a PC card wireless of linksys... absolutely no problem at all with him for over a year...

  Since buying this one with built in the wireless, the only way I cn get the connectivity Toshiba dctor to detect the connection is too "no broadcast" disable my router, my neighbor commented that he could get on my network!

  Sometimes when the PC is start the 'LAN' and 'Wireless' icons on the departure to the high bar take ages to appear... and when they finally do a wireless has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it... and the internet does not work...

  Sometimes it takes me 3 or 4 times to restart my computer and the router to recognize each other...

  It is certainly an issue on the laptop... I can always connect to each time without fail on the other laptop (who is now my wife) and I have a floor Office from PC using a netgear PCI Wireless crd and which connects no problem every time...

  I cn kind of deal with it, but its bothers me why I can't even detect the connection to the network during the broadcast is disabled (even when Ive found by scanning with seized me the name of the network)...

• Satellite A300-1MC and autonomy

  Hi all

  I've had my new laptop for 2 months now and overall I am satisfied, only 2 points of clarification I need help is the following:

  (1) when I charge the battery completely and then click the icon in the lower right of that remaining battery life is 1 and a half hours...!
  I thought the average standard was 3 hours? This means that my battery is defective? If someone else has the A300-1MC, what is your life Baker?

  (2) when I start the unit takes about 1 min and a half... I uninstalled all startup applications and the disabled unnecessary applications in the Device Manager, is there anything else I can do to speed up the start to the top?

  Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

  Battery working time depends on the use of the laptop computer if the CD/DVD and HARD disk then runs the battery icon will automatically show a short time working.
  Also display high brightness waste energy from the battery.

  If my laptop is running on battery power, then I decrease the brightness of the screen to a lower level. This allows to use the laptop a little longer; for about 2 hours.

  But if you want to run Notepad as long on battery so I would also recommend buying a stronger battery. for example, a battery 9 cells.

  I have a Satellite M50-176 and I'm unable to get into windows, and I think that I have to restore the OS files.
  I have three CD/DVD toshiba dated 2005 (the recovery disk, media express recovery CD and CD extra software).
  I don't want to completely format/erase the hard drive, but I need all the files that I so want to do just a restore.

  The restore CD contains the image of Toshiba file.
  This file is a package and it contains the OS Win, Toshiba drivers, utility tools and additional software. Simply said that it contains everything that was preinstalled on your computer.

  The express recovery CD media contains the Express Media Player and other software CD contains tools and drivers.

  What you need is the recovery CD. It will set your notebook back to factory settings.
  If you want to use the standard recovery option then the whole HARD disk will be formatted.

  But there should also be an expert recovery option. This option would be to format only partition on the HARD drive.

  In your case, I would use the recovery expert option.

  The laptop support certainly two memory slots and the two slots are extensible.
  From my own experience it possible s the second slot is hidden under the first memory module. If you could see the other location if the first module of memory would be removed.

• Equium M50-164 - is WinDVD Creator 2 installed?

  Recently bought an Equium M50-164 and just move to copy a dvd (educational course content). The provided user manual says for models with burner Super Multi (as the 164 I think?) then WinDVD Creator 2 is installed, but my machine has only WinDVD 5 (a player NOT a recorder). 2 creator should be pre-installed, and if so how do I get it?

• Equium M50-164 wireless issue

  I have an Equium M50 - 164 and a router and a Netgear wireless modem. When you use the wireless internet and navigation to various web pages, my browser tells me often that the "server not found". My wireless signal is "Excellent" and it does not physically lose the connection, as it is still showing as connected in the system tray. I also had the latest firmware for my modem/router and the last driver for the Intel PRO Wireless card. Someone at - it ideas on what could be the problem?

  I put t know what Intel WLAN card you have, but I presume that is 2200 B/G. If so try please install the latest version of the driver in the list on the Intel site.

  Prolly newb question, but I just can't understand this. I can't find my WIRELESS card, my XP does not recognize it. I think I need some kind of driver for it, but I already tried to install several, including the one on this page. Problem is probably, I don't know what model of wireless card has my satellite.

  What Satellite M50 laptop are you excactly?
  From Toshiba Web site shows only an Intel driver for Satellite M50 (PSM50E and PSM51E) and to Satellite M50 (PSM53E) a driver Atheros.
  Then choose your model and download the driver.

  An update of the BIOS might also solve the problem, but in your case I would try first upgrading the driver.

• Corrupt photos on my Satellite M50

  I have a Satellite M50-130 and have just started to have a problem with the photo files.
  They began to corrupt and the preview comes up with the words "drawing failed" or "no preview available".

  I can still see the thumbnail image but the info for the file, IE the size and what the camera has been used disappeared.

  I don't know why this is happening and it has not stopped. I open old files with photos in and found that one or two were corrupted.

  It could have been using ad-aware, I guess. I did a system restore to a different time, but this does not solve the problem.

  Any other ideas?

  Please don't be crazy on me, but I see no connection between the described issue and Toshiba as the manufacturer of the laptop.

  In my opinion corrupt photos has something to see how you use your laptop and stuff everything you have preinstalled on it. The fact is that current operating system you will be able to open all the jpeg and bmp files (if it is not damaged).

  What kind of photos you have (jpeg or something else)? Have you tried to open these files on another PC?

• Equium M50-164: not blocking down

  I have an M50-164 and after I am on the web for a few hours I try to shut down the laptop (for example START > TURN OFF COMPUTER > SHUT DOWN)

  It won't work, that after that I tried 3 times using the same process as above then it will work, or sometimes that still will not work I then turn off by the power switch... ideas?

  If anyone can help please let me know.

  Hi Nick,

  It is not easy to say why your laptop will not power off. Of course, there is an application or a running process that is not responding not to the close request and this will cause the process to stop stalling.

  You can check for active applications in the Task Manager before issuing the closure and try to fill those that are still in progress (to write down everything that hang), and similarly, you can try the same thing with system processes (check here for something unusual may have jumped everything your were surfing.)
