Satellite P100: cover orange keeps cracking

Hi all

The problem I have is on top of the orange cover, in the corners of the hinge, cracking constantly. She has had 2 replacement lids and now the third party did the same. The last time it was being repaired. The service center had for more than a month, just to replace the cover.
Other problems I had PCMCIA port range does not, so he returned for a new motherboard and keyboard, (had a problem with keystrokes)

Oh and just yesterday the 0 has stopped working on the numeric keypad.

What do you think I should do (except put it on ebay)?

Cheesed out of Liverpool! (Richard)

[Edited by: admin]

I completely agree with Garrett.

A few words on the long repair time a long time ago that I send my laptop for repair. Everything was resolved and since then everything is ok
I waited as 4 weeks for my laptop but the technician of my country told me that the motherboard was out of stock and it must order it directly from the head stock Toshiba. It takes about 3-4 weeks...
I think the repair time depends on the part to be replaced and the availability of part it's ok...

Since the purchase of my Satellite P100-188, I was happy with the way it works, but had to send it the Tech, through PC World guys, because the orange case on the screen continuously develops cracks around the joints of the hinge. I'm about to send it back for a 3rd time and I was wondering if someone else had also encountered this problem?

Cracks develop in many more large cracks in a relatively short time. I use my laptop on a daily basis, when I get home from work, is not as if it is used throughout the day and after having spent over A £1000 on that I'm not about to start abusing her.

If someone managed to get a result of Toshiba please get in touch with me?

    Hi Clive

The same cracks appear on my notebook of s to a friend.
He simply made contact with the authorized service provider, and the shift has been replaced!

Why do you want results? I think the free replacement of the cover is a very good solution.

  • Satellite P100 - time clock keeps changing

The clock on my Satellite P100 continues to change (running Win XP MCE) randomly during the day while it is running.

When I start the PC in the morning, clock's time similar to when I turned off the day before.

I use my PC in my office connected to the power supply. For the first months of ownership I left battery off the computer because I wanted to preserve his life. I don't want to run on battery and go through a process of charge-discharge throughout the day while I'm working. I was wondering if this could be the problem and now keep the main battery plugged all the time but the clock still continues to change.

The clock doesn't change by specific hours, but at some point almost randomly sometime before the correct time. Sometimes a few minutes, sometimes hours.

I installed and run all of the last anti-virus, spyware etc etc and nothing is detected.

Looks like my faulty CMOS/RTC battery?

This is my work computer and I can't afford to be without it for more than a day. I don't want to go back with all my data on HDD business.

Someone knows how it is easy to replace the RTC battery yourself (I know it will void the warranty)-I am an experienced PC "Builder" and fortunately can disassemble computers etc.

I hope that someone can offer some advice. Why Toshiba is not a help line that you can ask for help?

    Hello

Maybe it's not a RTC battery problem, but the problem of BIOS?

I found this Toshiba on a resource conflict real time clock in the L100 and P100 notebook Device Manager
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB7301SU0005R01.htm

It is very interesting, if this resource conflict could have a bad influence on the time of windows.

I have a Satellite P100 - 354 and keep problems with the sound, I frequently get crackles of sound effects to Windows, games, a media player. Recently the speakers stopped working for a short time, then returned.

When I tried to turn the volume up I could not access the speaker controls as it said that there is no active device.

I have the new update of Bios (3.30) and Sound Update (3.11.0.51)

He s strange because according to these Toshiba document the problem should be solved:

I bought P100 this year in January in Russia. Orange lid cracked shortly after. I contacted at the centre of service of Moscow and specialists have been very kind and changed me the lid quickly.

The guarantee was valid, and therefore the ASP has replaced parts for free.

  • Cover of split near the hinges on Satellite P100

Cover orange on my Satellite P100 guard split by hinges, even if I now have to take great care to open and close the lid. Toshiba have replaced under warranty.

I think the hinge friction is too strong for the coverage. Someone at - it a similar problem and if yes what can we do?

It seems unnecessary to keep just replace the cover every time.

One of my friends sent the laptop to replace the top cover and everything was done for free! The warranty covered replacing.
Technicians of the ASP has changed the defective part and said that the new top cover has been used seems they have changed something on the cover of proximity to the hinges, because so far everything is ok

  • Satellite P100: Battery LED blinks orange on

When I turn on my Satellite P100, battery light flashes and the icon shows the power of the battery power, but do not load, then it turns into support for a few seconds.

When I turn the computer off, but leave it connected to the power source, the rest orange battery light and charges the battery. I tried with two batteries with the same result.

This is something intermittent that sometimes charges the battery, even when the computer is turned on.
    I find it rather strange.

    All thoughts
    Thank you

Remove the battery, connect the laptop to AC power only and turn it on. When the operating system is running properly, put the battery on the site and let us know what happen when you do this.

  • Satellite P100-113 screen erased and now just keeps trying to restart

Salvation was using my Satellite P100-113 fine the other day and then the screen went white environment of use. Now he just tries but fails to restart all the time.

All lights light up and lights up the screen but in fact, nothing appears on the screen (no text or whatever) and then just wait a few seconds, stops and then darkens as if its just try to restart again. Can't do anything with him - so he just guard cycling and try to restart as long as you hold the power button or simply unplug and let the battery.

    Any ideas anyone? Thank you

    Kay

    Hello

Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Wait a few minutes (40 - 60 min) and reconnect the two parts.
Then try to restart the computer and press F2 for the BIOS.

If you will be able to access the BIOS and set it the default settings.

Check if this short workaround solution will help you.

  • How can I turn on the lights under speakers on Satellite P100-227?

    Hello

    I found very interesting news:

Models with integrated Intel 945GM graphics card are delivered without blue LED speakers. One of these is your Satellite P100-227.

Blue LED speakers are registered models shipped with the NVIDIA graphics card.

  • Fractures of fatigue on the Satellite P100-423

    Hi all

This is my first post here.
The hinges on my Satellite P100-423 have always been fairly rigid. Thus fractures of stress now appeared on the back of the lid near the hinges.
I bought in Nov/06 and it seems to be now out of warranty.
I would appreciate any advice on what I can do about it or how to get it fixed.

I totally agree with codes for the ASP must replace it and I think that this plastic cover should t be too expensive.

  • Audio dropouts on Satellite P100

I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite P100 PSPADE.
    OS: Win XP Professional
Connected equipment: MOTU 828MKII Firewire or Terratec DMX 6Fire USB.
In both situations, audio dropouts occur, using Cubase SX3.
I already disabled some elements in the Manager of hardware devices, such as:
    -Microsoft AC adapter
-Control compliant ACPI Microsoft method battery
    -Network adapters
    -Bluetooth device
    -Sound controller
    - ...
Only the devices battery generated many audio dropouts, which are now reduced by disabeling the drivers.
    Nevertheless, sporadic abandonment occur always.
Although, Terratec, and MOTU audio devices using the maximum buffersize, increasing latency, but reducing the school drop-outs, audio drop outs occur.
Reading a few articles, I came to the feature 'gas CPU"of the Toshiba laptops, which might be responsible for these audio dropouts.
The articles mention that he is a non-configurable feature of Toshiba.
Audio dropouts seem to occure synchronous with the activation of the fan.
To contol the latency, I use "DPC latency Check" program, which generates a bar graph.
The peaks of bar-graph each time that the fan turns on and at the same time, a stall audio is heard.
Is there a solution to the problem of audio dropout?

    Erik

    Hello

There were MANY discussions on this subject, especially with your machine. Many users tried different solutions such as remove things from the device manager like you did already.

In General, editing music with a laptop are not really optimal. For example:

I have a computer of office machine with a Pentium 4 2.8/1 GB RAM/WD Raptor/ESI Juli @ and I also work with Cubase SX3. There is NO problem with the latency (latency DPC latencies around 15-30 microsec Watch).

I tried to make some changes on my Tecra A9 which has a Dual-Core, 2 GB of RAM, a HARD drive with 7200 RPM with XP on it, etc... and at the beginning I had many heavy withdrawals.

But after a search of this forum and a few other sites, Ive created a small tutorial:

    1. services:

For Windows XP: Please visit the following site: http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/winxp.htm
and apply the configuration of services twisted.

For Vista: Go to this site-> http://www.blackviper.com/WinVista/Services/ and see the following:
-Configurations of Viper black Windows Vista SP1 Service-> twisted
    -Super Tweaks

-In addition the client must disbale the service "smart card"!

    2 disable the following devices:

-Compatible control method battery ACPI Microsoft
-Intel ICH8M Ultra ATA Storage Controllers (including the optical disc drive)
    -Ethernet and Wifi
    -Storage-> Microsoft iSCSI initiator controllers
    SD card controller

    3 disable the powermanagement features:

-In 'Device Manager' option to allow the computer to turn off this
all "USB root hubs" should be unchecked
-Create a separate powerplan who can be named 'Maximum' and put EVERYTHING
maximum (disable these features like 'sleep' and 'sleep')

    4. run the application 'msconfig' (internal tool of windows) and remove all the
unneded services and applications in the startup list, which could include
some tools Toshiba as "configfree" "flashcards" etc., but at YOUR OWN RISK!

    5. as you have more network connections, you can also disable all
services such as "Windows Defender", "Windows Firewall", "security policies."
etc. which contains a large number of resources!

    6. I recommend to keep all the drivers including BIOS update. You can use
drivers of Intel on the chipset/storage controller/graphic chipset
which most are more recent so our pilots.

    -> Below only for Vista!
    7. at least, you must disable this thing together graphic Vista as
«Aero, "Windows Sidebar", etc., and switch to the Vista Basic theme.» The window
Manager themes Vista is necessary and a LOT of resources that offers more
resources for applications and results also in a latency time reduced.

    8. check the Web site of the manufacturers on the updates support for the device that is in use! (which means the sound card ;))

    It could be that useful...

    Welcome them

  • "Plugged in, not charging" Satellite P100-286

Hey people, well I've been having this problem just now, I have a Satellite P100-286, OS: Windows Vista Home Premium and my problem is that after I m using my laptop for a little while on the current if I am it loads, it will stop charging and if I hover over the battery icon n the taskbar It will say "Plugged In no current charging" and the battery life will not be 100%.

I also note that in this case, the light of battery on my laptop is not blue indicating the battery is full (of course), but neither is it orange indicating that he is in charge, but a few times I noticed that the light flashes when this happens not all the time. I played games with the power adapter plugged in and sometimes the laptop is off and when I turn it back on and "resume windows" warning message will appear saying 1% etc.

Please someone help and give me some advice on why my battery doesn't charge sometimes, I searched on the net about it and it is not the charger or the battery itself, but it's a hardware problem, people say, please someone kind and cleaver out there help me please.

    > Please someone help and give me some advice on why my battery doesn't charge sometimes, I searched on the net about it and it is not the charger or the battery itself, but it's a hardware problem, people say, please someone kind and cleaver out there help me please.

You should know that it is not easy to provide an exactly fault diagnosis without putting his hands on her.
What we can do is to provide some sort of suggestions

So I think it could be a faulty battery, so first the battery should be checked.
If problems still persist, then electronic power supply failure might be possible

However, the equipment should be checked and this can be done by an ASP in your country
It would be desirable to communicate with these guys and ask for help

  • Satellite P100 - v4.70 update BIOS stuttering in games

    Hello

I had a problem with the Bios v4.70. Since I flashed my BIOS I had regular stops in my games. Looks like the game crashes every 3 seconds for a short time. I got the BIOS v4.50 before without problem. I would use v4.70 because since the new version of my graphics cooling fan card responses to temperature again.

With recent versions, that I had the problem the fan worked only when I pressed the temperature of the gfx over 104 ° C. seems there is an emergency program that starts the fan and keep running at a constant average level. When I turn on my pc, I have to repeat this procedure. It's pretty boring, so I was very happy to see that the new BIOS has solved my problem. Maybe someone knows a solution.
I know there are already discussions with stuttering in the game, but the solutions won t fit for me.

I use a pilot updated the gfx, because Toshiba release new ones.
My system is a Toshiba Satellite P100-354
    Processor: 2 GHz dual core
gfx: geforce go 7900gs 512 MB with forceware v185.20
OS: Win Vista 32 bit Ultimate

    > I use a pilot updated the gfx because Toshiba release new ones.
I think that's the reason. No Toshiba drivers don t have overheating protection and therefore the graphics card may be damaged. It s recommended to use the drivers from the site of Toshiba, because with these drivers, you are on the safe side.

Check the Toshiba website for the latest drivers and I think that the problem will be solved:

  • Satellite P100-160 - screen Vertical burst

Satellite P100-160 my son has developed a fault on the screen that no one seems able to identify the cause of.

If you imagine that the screen is divided into six equal vertical columns about 3 inches wide, the third vibrates from top down so that the image is blurry. Sometimes it stops after an hour - but recently it just keeps going. The other "columns" are very good. What is the screen itself (easily replaceable), or the video card (on the motherboard) or another component such as the inverter?
For now I'm not sure if scrap it and buy a new one or replace the screen.

    Any ideas?

    Hey,.

I think that the best way to address this issue must connect to an external monitor to your laptop. If you notice the same problem on external monitor the problem is related to the graphics card itself. If the display is faulty and must be replaced.

Then connect an external monitor and check what's happening!

  • Satellite P100-429: Intel Wireless Wifi Link 4965agn card is not compatible?

    Hey guys

I have a Satellite P100-429 with a 3965abg to intel, I have a few router purchased months ago Netgear wnr834b n project, then think, it is high time, I upgraded my internal adapter.

I wanted to know if the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN adapter would fit that is a right with the 3965 swap, as it says it's connection is Mini PCIe card * and I have no idea if it would fit?

    Hello

Yes, she should go, because the W-LAN-mini-card slot is a PCI-Express, so you'll just have to swap the cards. But be careful with the antenna connections, if you bend them too so they break very quickly and then there is NO WAY back and you will pay for the exchange of
the whole cover, where are the antennas of screen.

Best is to contact a local service partner if they exchanged, you don t therefore the risk for the guarantee void if you do something 'not very good' on your machine. :)
