Satellite P100: task bar sometimes appears as a gray square icon

I have a Satellite P100 and the bar sometimes appears an icon which I can't understand tasks. It of a grey square with a horizontal line near the botoom and seems to represent a computer. Then, on the side at the bottom right there is a red on red circle with a diagonal line (in the sense of the slash).

Flying over the mouse produced no information.

Can you help me?

Hello

If the icon appears in the taskbar so it means that the application is running and he was eventually loaded at startup.
I really have no idea what could be described icon or whose application has been started.

You can try to start the msconfig in the run window and you will find the Startup tab. There you can find the application that was initially loaded.

    Hello David

It's a very strange situation, and for me there is no explanation simply. In my opinion the laptop or HARD drive, the functionality must be tested properly. Here in the forum we can speculate just what is the problem here but mobile startup must be tested with the other HARD drive pre-installed with original recovery image.

It will be interesting to know if the problem disappeared with new HARD drive. So what you can do now? If possible, try to get the second HARD drive and do the only testicles or make a call to the authorized service center and explain the situation. If the laptop is guaranteed to be valid, it will be better to check in service because they can replace free HARD drive (if the HARD disk is defective).

Sorry, but I don't see another solution. Some test with the new HARD drive can help you to understand if this happens because of the HARD drive. I don't think that the BIOS can be responsible for the issue described.

  • Satellite P100-429: sharp sound appears when 3rd device is connected

I have a satellite P100-429 with a Conexant internal sound card.
My problem is when I attach to any other electric audio device to record or play to, a high-pitched noise can be heard on the two pieces of equipment.

When the power of the laptop is removed and it works on battery power, only the noise disappears as soon as the power is reconnected the noise returns

I checked the section driver Toshiba and there is an available (V3.11.0.51) driver update that resolves this problem.
Note: Before installing the audio driver updated to at least the BIOS version 2.10 or higher must be installed on the laptop.

How to install the Sound Driver (V3.0.51):
    1. download the driver from the website.
    2 unzip the file.
    3. double-click on the "setup.exe."
Shortly after, the following window appears:
    4. click on 'OK '.
    5. click on 'OK '.
    The audio driver is installed

Be careful with the update of the BIOS. Choose the good BIOS and the right update procedure

  • Satellite P100: Multimedia Bar with Winamp and not WMP

    Hello
I would like to customize my Toshiba P100 multimedia bar to control Winamp instead of Windows Media Player. Somehow, the 'stop' and 'Skip fwd/bwd' buttons appear to have begun to control Winamp (although I have no idea how), but the "play/pause" button always opens the WMP, which I don't use and find it generally boring.

Is there a way to program these buttons?
    Perhaps via the registry?

    Thank you, d.

    Hello

It s very strange that the other keys work with Winamp.
Generally AFAIK it of not possible to use this button with a 3rd party program.
This button should only works with Windows media player if the CD has been inserted or WinDVD if the DVD has been inserted.

However, in my opinion, you should check if the new version of the Toshiba controls is displayed on the page of the Toshiba driver. Try reinstalling this application.

PS: What happens if you remove the Winamp? The buttons work properly?

  • Satellite P100 - thin yellow line appears on the screen

    Hello world.

    I have a Toshiba Satellite P100, 3 years ago.
Recently appeared on my screen an intermittent thin vertical yellow line.

Nothing serious, but very annoying, especially when I play or watch movies.
I just found that it is not a software problem, but a material one (I've connected the laptop with my TV and there is no yellow line shown on the screens).

So I guess there is something wrong with the LCD of my Satellite.

You think it's interesting to try to fix this? What can I do?

    Thank you

    Hello

    > So I guess there is something wrong with the LCD of my Satellite.
    Maybe

Always is that those issues could be related to a defective LCD screen or graphics chip
But given that this line is not visible on the TV or external monitor this could be an internal screen problem and not a problem of graphics chip

    > You think it is worth trying to fix this? What can I do?
Well, a laptop screen is not a party so inexpensively.
It costs about 300-350 Euros and I wouldn't try to replace it if the warranty is no longer valid

  • Lost and replaced by a non-operational generic icon task bar items

We just bought a new, fresh and clean, computer HP desktop with Windows 7. We have installed MS Office and some other tools that we use. We then implemented the taskbar with the tools that we use more. Some of them disappear and are replaced by a generic folder icon. When attempting to launch what it was, we are told that the item is missing and we want to remove the item from the task bar. This only happens with some icons, MS Office - ALL of them, and a few others we installed. This machine is new and has been used for anything except certain configuration and a bit of web browsing. I wasn't expecting to face something so important so early - as the first day! Anyone know what is happening? I saw the other, similar questions (but none where the program behind the icon is lost) and we can't do a system restore - definitely not yet!

Any help to fix our new machine will be greatly appreciated.

  • Satellite P100-115 - vertical lines to appear on the screen

    Hello.

My Satellite P100-115 is 2.5 years but yesterday a thin vertical line appeared on the screen.
I already checked this problem by connecting an external monitor.

The line does not appear on the external display.
Could you tell me what might get hurt? I always took care of the laptop so he couldn't be a race of misuse.

    Hello, Lukas

You did the right thing and tested it with the external monitor. There is evidence that the display is faulty and must be replaced. It has nothing with the help of the ADB. Such a thing just happens.

Sorry, buddy, but there are two solutions, either Exchange the screen or use it with external monitor. :(

  • No icons or departure to the top/task bar appearing on the desktop

Windows utility tool (malware) has been removed from the computer now the only thing that appears on the screen when starting up is the screen saver image. No icons, no task bar and no apparent way to get to them.

Bringup-> of your task manager click on the Application tab-> click New task-> type explorer.exe-> click ok. This should start your exploring, now run sfc/scannow. Start-> run-> sfc/scannow. This should fix the missing files / corrupt. Reference: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310747 for the SFC.

    Hi frankromeoRQ,

    (1) since when are you facing this problem?

    (2) remember to make changes?

    (3) is limited only to the integrated Windows 7 games?

It is sufficient to indicate the complete error message you receive.

If everything works well after a clean boot, you can deduce that some third-party services are at the origin of the problem.

Continue with the remaining steps to pin-point on the third party service.
After find you the program that is causing the problem, you will have to perhaps to update or install a newer version of the program, if you rarely use that you should consider uninstalling the software.

  • Satellite P100-160 BT icon appears in the Control Panel, but no BT

    Hello

I have a Satellite P100-160. I am very confused as to whether I have BT or not.

    * Reasons I thought that I had BT: *.
I thought originally I had, because in 'Control Panel', it has a Bluetooth icon, which when I press on it opens the "Bluetooth devices". I also use WiFi I thought a sign that BT has been installed and working. I also notice that in Services' there is that something called 'Toshiba Bluetooth Service' running.

    * Reasons I think that now I don't have BT: *.
However, when I press Control Panel > Bluetooth devices > Bluetooth settings, nothing happens. It's as if the button is dead. And when I try to 'Add a BT device', he finds not all devices. In addition, there is no BT listed in Device Manager.

    .....

Overall, I am very confused! I bought yesterday wireless speakers after seeing the BT icon in Control Panel (I had read that if this icon was there, I got BT), but having struggled for hours trying to get BT to work yesterday, I came to the conclusion that I don't have BT at all!

Could someone explain what it means the Bluetooth icon in the control panel? Why is there if I don't have BT? Or, the icon means I have BT but am doing something wrong?

    Thanks in advance! Very frustrated!

    David.

    > Satellite P100-160. I am very confused as to whether I have BT or not

Satellite P100-160 was NOT equipped with Bluetooth module.
But maybe the battery BT software has been installed and is why the BT icon is visible in the control panel.

  • Pavilion g6: black border appeared on the right side of the screen - the task bar disappeared downstairs - 1280 x 800 (recommended)

My laptop recently hooked and I couldn't even do a ctrl/alt/delete to run the programme of work to see what was going on, so I turned off manually. At the start, I have a black border running down the right side of the page and can not see the taskbar at the bottom. I put in 1280 x 720 resolution to allow access to the bottom task bar. I updated the driver for the display, but this did not remedy the problem. How can I go back to 1280 x 800?

FIXED! Last series of Microsoft updates have cured the problem. The resolution is now in 1366 x 768 (recommended)!

I can't think I powered the phone turned off when microsoft have downloaded updates, too bad Microsoft doesn't inform you they do this and then freeze you :-(
