Satellite P300-156 won't start or by MAIL

Hello

I have a Satellite P300-156 I bought a few months as damaged. The screen has been damaged and the case slightly cracked. I replaced the screen and hard drive and main card seems to have no physical damage. I've been running this system for 3 months now without any problem but, today, for some reason, it won't start or even POST. It powers on and the CPU fan starts to turn then stops and does nothing. No display (I tried external). CD player works. No beeps.

I tried reinstalling RAM even open completely and reinstalling all connections, nothing done. Does anyone have an idea what component is gone? (CPU/GPU/RAM)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

Did you update the BIOS or something?
For me, this is a normal behavior when the BIOS chip is faulty.

  • Satellite P300-156 - and the button Return give the same values

    Hello

I have a satellite P300-156, and it has a numeric keypad.
I have problems because the Enter key and the Return key give the same values. I believe that it is incorrect.
    Can anyone help.

Key on the numeric keypad should give an input it does.
the Enter key on the main keyboard should give a carriage return value, but it gives an input value.

Usually this does not cause a problem, but with software like photo shop that makes the distinction between a carriage return and a hard fall it does not work.

  • Satellite 1800-100 won't start with new memory

My satellite s1800-100 won't start although my new memory (2nd) module is 128 MB PC100.

I have Samsung samsung K4S281632C-TC1H module as PC100 (128 MB) memory on SLOT 1 by default.

Although all of the features and form factors are clean, why not my Satellite S1800-100 starts? I checked the new (slot 2) memory works fine and tested OK.

So, is there as a possibility to have a problem in the 2 Slot? Or is associated with failure of the BIOS? (there is no more recent BIOS, current is 2.20 for Satellite S1800-100).

I am disappointed. I bought a new 128 MB PC100, to insert it in the slot 2, my Toshiba didn't boou up!.

Important note: if I connect the new memory I bought yesterday, works very well in Slot 1.

    Please help and understanding.

    Kind regards...

    Hello

Well, it very difficult to say why it won't start.
I think that there are several possibilities:

(1.) you used a bad module
(2.) the second Bank of the Board of Directors has a malfunction
(3.) the laptop does not support max 256 MB of RAM

I think that point 1 and 3 is not relevant because you have tested the module and it worked on the first location. Additional the laptop should be able to handle 2 x 256 MB memory, so you should be able to use 2 x 128 MB

I think that the second ram location may have a malfunction.
Please check the second slot with a module of memory.

The second possibility is to use exactly the module which is recommended by Toshiba.
    As I remember it s PC100 128 MB (PA3005U) SDRAM

  • Re: Satellite P300-156: keyboard freezes touch touchpad - mic is not w

    Hello

I installed Windows 8 on my satellite P300-156 and now I have a big problem.
My keyboard crashes when you touch the touch pad. In addition, the microphone does not work when the Windows Device Manager indicates that it is ok.

There is no windows driver for this laptop 8...

There are no drivers for the laptop because it isn't win 8 supported series.
But even if there is no Win 8 drivers, the system should not freeze affecting the touchpad module.

However, the Synaptics touchpad driver for Win 7 or 8 to win can be downloaded from Synaptics page.
    Recommend check it out!

  • Sound on Satellite P300-156 problems

I bought a Satellite P300-156 1 year, mainly because he looked good and had Dolby Sound Room. However, I discovered not long after the purchase that he had no Dolby installed - so I tried to download the new drivers on the Toshiba site. They worked and gave me the SmartAudio app to activate the Dolby Virtual Speaker and Headphone Dolby of Dolby Sound Room. -The volume varies, as someone who has a hold on the volume dial. Not only when songs get more coins, but even just when someone speaks.

This is crazy - and very annoying - and disappointing given the speakers harmon/kardon give amazing clarity. 3 driver updates later - still the same problem. Heard about people with the new P500 have the same problem - please does anyone have a solution? I got the problem under Vista 32 bit and now the same thing under 7 64-bit. It's a Conexant driver.

The problem does not occur under the headphones/external speakers.

    Thank you.

    Hello

If I understand this problem, that happened after the driver installation, and after activating the Dolby Sound Room.

In Control Panel-> Audio Smart-> Audio second tab management, you will find a few options.
The mode clasic has been marked.

Uncheck this box and go to the Multi flow modes and configure it.

I m not very well what settings you need to enable or disable because I m not P300 owner, but you should play around with these options and try different settings.

  • Satellite P300 - 156 Windows 7 Crash problem

    Hello
I have the Toshiba Satellite P300 - 156 PSPC4E, model and I've had this laptop for a couple of years now.
Before installing windows 7, I got the default Windows Vista installed and it worked fine.
Now since installing windows 7, no matter WHAT game I try and play just causes the cell to go black screen and turn off after about 5-10 minutes of play.
I thought that this was due to an overheating problem... so I opened the laptop and cleaned all that and then put it back together again.
(YES I checked all the wires are back where they should be and all the components are working properly)
    It did not work.
Then I tried updating all my drivers and software ect.
    Still nothing.
I searched on through pages and pages of search results for the same problems with Windows 7 and the game crashing... but nobody seems to know how to fix it.
I thought it was just windows 7, but I re installed windows vista and it's always done the same thing on there now.
I tried to install all the drivers of the model for this laptop toshibas site and not luck.
My windows vista and windows 7 are two authentic copies.

All the hardware is functioning normally (as far as im aware) and I really don't see what can cause this problem.

If someone could give me some advice on what to do it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello

Which driver you use display? I m P300 owner but not on my A300, I had a similar problem that the laptop has crashed during a game. It seems that the reason was a 3rd party driver or let's say the driver of the manufacturing of the graphics chip directly. I think that because they are not prétestées on the cell and causing overheating

So I recommend you to install the latest driver of display on the Toshiba site.

Finally and above all what version of Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit), you have installed and what version of BIOS?
From Toshiba Web site also shows the new BIOS versions and several versions 32 bit and 64 bit OS. Maybe you have to day/edit, who knows?

  • Satellite P300-156 PSPC4E - stay white media LEDs on after power off

    I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite P series P300 156 (PSPC4E) which has just developed a problem

When I turned off the laptop stops normally, start button / stop itself turns off, but the white Media 6 LED to the right of the power button remains constantly. The only way to get these themselves to turn off is to disconnect the battery.

    Can someone please advise

    Hello

I'm don't know if this will help, but try to set the BIOS to the default settings or try to disable the LED lighting in the BIOS settings.

    Play around with these settings.

  • Satellite P300-156 - cannot install any OS

    Hello

    I had a P300-156 for a while.
It was fine until recently, when the DHCP client stopped workin and wouldn't start.

So I tried to restore from disk and had no dice with that try.
So I tried to recover from HARD drive again once any chance the laptop keeps freezing after installation.

So I tried to install Ubuntu on the laptop but still the same problem, said linux 'buffer I/O sdo error "?
I'm not sure what in other words, it has however managed to wipe the entire drive.

And I can not install XP because it does not find the HARD drive.

The situation is so that I don't have any of the recovery methods and that you can not install another OS.

Guys im really confused on the topic of what to do here, so if anyone can help please I need.

    Hi James

I'm not sure if your HARD drive is dead or not, but you should know that your installation of Win XP does not recognize the HDD too if the SATA driver has not been included.
The fact is that your P300 was equipped with the SATA HDD controller and the SATA driver is needed and if you want to install an operating system.

The SATA driver is part of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
So if you want to install XP on your P300, you must first include the SATA drive in the XP installation CD.
This can be done very easily using a free software called nLite.

    This Toshiba doc would be helpful for you because if describes step by step how to include a driver SATA;

    Check this box:

  • Satellite L30 PSL33E won't start at all - the LED blinks 6 times

    Hello

My poor mother is quite upset! Its Satellite L30 PSL33E just died.

It completely off and now won't start at all.
Orange light flashes six times when you press the power button.
No hard drive, fan, screen or any other noise / activity.

    She tried without the battery.

A kind of hardware failure, I guess.

Any ideas what this blink code means?

    Thanks in advance,
    D.

I put t know what the code means, but you can read it. short means 0 and 1 long

In any case, the error code means that a hardware failure has been detected on the motherboard and motherboard replacement could help you?
    Why?

because what is really hard to fix a motherboard for laptop very s.
It especially not possible if you n t s have sufficient knowledge, experience, and special tools.

I think that either you contact the ASP in your country and ask a difficulty or you'll have to buy a new laptop ;(

  • How can I remove optical drive of the Satellite P300-156?

    Hello

I just ordered a HD-DVD-R (Toshiba SD-L902A) for my P300-156 drive, but I don't see how I can remove my existing laptop DVD - RW drive.

Does anyone know how this can be done without opening the case?

    Hello

To remove the CD/DVD drive, first remove the screws of this CURIOUS.
The screw is hidden under the keyboard.
Therefore, you will need to remove the keyboard first.
The keyboard is fixed with 2 screws. These screws are hidden beneath the thin plastic (door-KB)
First, you must remove this support KB to get access to these two screws.
After you remove the keyboard, you will find a screw that holds the ODD. Remove it and disconnecting an optical disc drive to the connector on the system board.

But note; Be careful and all you are doing is at your own risk AND PERIL!

  • Satellite Pro 2100 won't start at all - LED flash

My SP2100 began to have feeding problems and now won't start at all. The AC adapter green LED is lit, that are relevant lights on the body of the laptop (although the "battery charge" light always orange these days). When I try the switch on, startup begins (in fact succeeded on occasion until this morning), however the battery indicator and the adapter lights are flashing, and everything stops again.

On the rare occasions when I'll be past this stage, lights blinking, and the system soon shuts down again with a screen message "low battery." Until this morning, he would sometimes settle, the computer remained on, and the lights showed a State of equilibrium as usual.

Initially I thought that the problem was of course the battery or the AC adapter, but now I'm starting to think that it is with internal PSU of the laptop (although I suspect the battery is probably tour after all this part of loading and unloading).

    Any ideas?

    Hello

I think you're right. Flashing LEDS are a sign that hardware is defective.
I can't say what exactly is the problem, this should be verified by a technicain.
On the other side I don't know if it's worth to repair such an old machine.

    Good bye
