Satellite P500 PSPG8E - buddies Bios 3 times - a long two short

Hello

I have a question: when I turn on my Satellite P500 PSPG8E I get 3 friends: a long two short!

What is, perhaps memory?

Thank you d ' attribute
Greetings from the Germany

Michael Burkhardt

Hello

This laptop supports Phoenix BIOS.
You use a google for Phoenix beep codes for details on the meaning of the code.

But in General; the code means that an error has been detected on the motherboard. The POST (power on self-test) cannot be passed.
Theoretically, it may be a RAM issue, but it's just a suggestion.

  • Satellite P500 - after update BIOS on the numeric keypad does not work anymore

I just had a Satellite P500 and am running Windows 7. I downloaded all the latest drivers and updated the system BIOS to version 1.70 (from Toshiba support website). Now, my numeric keypad of the keyboard does not work.

The NumLock light is on and when I hit the key "6" on the pavement, he turns the power light, but the behavior of the other keys does not change that it is on or off. The '-' key to enter a '6', but none of the other keys (except "enter" does nothing.

I removed the keyboard driver and rebooted to reinstall the keyboard driver, but has no effect. The keyboard has worked for a few days after that I flashed the bios but seems to have stopped since I started using a USB mouse. I tried to uninstall the USB mouse driver, but who have nothing do either (it was a Logitech driver).

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

Maybe you should try upgrading the BIOS

    Hello

This means the card WLAN is not listed in Device Manager?
Some unknown device is listed in Device Manager?

To be honest, this issue is not known to me but if it please try to set the BIOS to default settings and check again.
I put t know if this will help but you can back up all your data and install again recovery image to check if the same problem persists with the factory settings.

I was unable to access the bios and I get just a black screen, that everything seems to power up, but no BIOS splash screen. I tried out the cmos battery, but it will not be reset. The BIOS chip is screwed and you must contact the partner in your country. Will you please explain the situation and they will give you more information about the repair.

  • Satellite P500-16 t - how to disable the sound of multimedia keys?

I recently offered a Satellite P500-16 t. First of all, I find nowhere any reference of this laptop. So if you have a similar and know how to stop the bipping when I put the sound, I'd be very happy. And, if by chance, you know why this laptop is not in the list of toshiba support, I would like to know as well.

    Thanks to you all.

    Hi topchrunch,

Yes, you can disable the beeper Satellite P500 in the BIOS. Therefore, to access the system configuration and disable the beep. Setup Save & Exit and he works or let's say beep is disabled. :)

Satellite P500-16 t belongs to the PSPGSE series, and as a result, you can download all the drivers and tools here:

  • Satellite A200 - AH6 PSAE0C: update BIOS - Date & Time Reset problem

Then I updated my laptop Satellite A200 - AH6 PSAE0C (Bios and graphic update) after installation of Toshiba Power Saver, but from time to time now, if I do a restart, there is a black screen on reboot with some info about my BIOS and some things put in guard/failure.

Also, when she comes back, once again, every so often, my time is reset to December 2004, 12: 00

    Any suggestions?

Hmm... This strange s... maybe you should try to update the BIOS again. I'm not sure if this is possible if the BIOS has been already updated to the latest version but it worth a try.
In addition, you should access the BIOS and it set to the default settings and need to save settings.

  • Satellite P500: no message "No items to select" after BIOS 3.1 update

    Hello

I upgraded my Satellite P500 with the update of the BIOS Version 3.10 since the support site.
Now I get the error 'No element to select' message after the laptop has rebooted. Someone has an idea, how I can solve this problem?

best regards and thanks in advance
    Ralf

    Hello

Never seen this message and to be honest, I don't know what elements should be chosen.
Go into the BIOS settings and set it back to default settings.
Save the change and reboot the device.

    Check it!

  • Satellite P500 - BIOS disappeared

    Hello

hope that you will contribute to a desperate situation.
I had a satellite p500 dual boot win 7 64 and 32, although the 64 installation has become corrupted so I had to re - install.
Everything was going well until I installed a few Toshiba updates, including 2.9 bios to winphlash.

    Now:
Instead of appearing the BIOS, there is the following text:
"CPU = 1 processor detected, cores per processor = 4
    Intel (R) Core (TM) i7 Q720 CPU @ 1.6 mhz
    Fixed disk 0: Toshiba [letters]
    System Configuration data update"

So the choice of start-up appear (win 7 32 or 64).
However, when you try to start the 64 it says there is an error which must be attached with the original windows disc.

The main problem is that it is not possible to get into the BIOS to F2/8/10/12, escape, Ins.
In addition, it is not possible to start using the disk drive.

    However, WIn 32 works perfectly.

I tried to use winphlash to reflash the bios (using current versions of 2.9 and 2.8), but it says "can not Flash the bios. Error-144 "which, after googling seems to be an error that appears if attempting to Flash the bios on the power of the battery - if I use the grid.

It seems that others have also had problems after the upgrade of their bios.
Any help would be appreciated. I tried to fix this for about 9 hours now, and I'm living overseas, it is difficult to find a Toshiba service station.

    Thank you!

    Bart

    Hi mate

Try pressing F12 at the beginning of the startup procedure.

This will help you display the start on-screen menu.
There you can switch between different sources such as drive HARD, CD/DVD, USB, LAN, etc.

Here, you choose the ODD (CD/DVD drive) as a source of startup if you want to boot from the recovery disc.

    Good luck

    Hi all

Has someone any direction to recover a P500 with corrupt BIOS (starts and beeps but screen blank and fails to load OS)?

Thos occurred after a failure WinPhlash updated fronm the Toshiba support site.

I note a certain activity CD/DVD rom on andFn power + ESC seems to have an impact if help down while turning the power on, but I need to know what files to download and put them on a CD or a USB flash drive. Welcome Guide.

Just in case where the model is a PSPE8A-025002.

    Thanks for your possible suggestions.

    Rob

    Hey,.

BIOS recovery is not possible and it can only be done from an authorized service provider. The guys have to reflash the ROM module with special tools and need a special version of the BIOS for this procedure.

You can find a list of aspic here:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

I know that it s not the easiest way, but you n t have other options ;)

  • Can satellite P500-12D - I use the nVidia drivers?

I tried to install version 195.62 (Win7 64 bit) for the Geforce 200 M series fron the NVIDIA SITE but installation is not complete. I get the message: "Setup NVIDIA didn't find all the drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. The installation program will now stop. »

Toshiba only allows their own versions of the drivers? Is there a way to enable the NVIDIA drivers to istall?

    Hello

Counter question: why you want to use any other display drivers? Are not satisfied with the drivers of Toshiba or can you notice problems in Windows?

Theoretically, it is possible to use the nVidia drivers directly but don t forget that they are not pre-tested on your laptop. Your graphics card could be overheating and so you lose the warranty.

Satellite P500 is fairly new, so I guess that Toshiba updates the display driver in next time too. Take a look at the page from time to time. ;)

  • Satellite L670-143 - new BIOS available, but what's new?

Since yesterday I get a notice from Toshiba Bulletin Board that a new version of the BIOS is available, version 2.30 - WIN dated from 14/02/12.

Given that I am trying hard and wonder if Toshiba allows users to change the Wifi card by default, I'm interested in what this BIOS update is needed for, if it wasn't for allowing users to install their preferred Wifi adapter I'm totally happy with my current version of BIOS and won't update something that brings something of new or improve anything.

For this purpose: is their any page where people can find out what is new in a new update of the BIOS?
Everything we always get is compressed form. Exe and prechewed message "this update of the Bios adds increased system functionality" on the page to download... but nothing concrete information.

    Hello Moose

In one thing, I agree with you: don t change the BIOS if there is no former radical problem or the system in general. Many people here have reported on the various problems after BIOS update so if you are happy with your laptop and if everything goes perfectly don t change anything.

Problem is that on the European download page you will find information on the update of the BIOS. In other words there is nothing new in the latest version of the BIOS.
It is interesting that Toshiba US offers you this info so I m me where difference between offered things in US and Europe is to ask. I m not an expert for this stuff but there may be reasons relating to the protection of law or customers. I put t know.

What you can do if you have a little time, is to visit the US page under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp > download, find a similar pattern with the same BIOS update and check if you can find useful information here.

At the end once more: don t change anything, if everything works well. I have 2 years old Satellite P500 and use with BIOS and original recovery image. It works perfectly. Best Toshiba laptop I've had over the last 10 years.

    Hello

The forum already contains these discussions where notebooks will freeze after 5 or 10 minutes of play. Have you read them?

Now it s not easy to say what causes this problem but first of all you need to install the latest driver of Toshiba display. Don t use non-Toshiba drivers, as they can cause the overheating!

Also make sure that you use the latest version of the BIOS and it s useful to clean the laptop time using a jet of compressed air.

    Hello

May I ask if you have checked the system requirements for Civilization 4 first? Before you try to play a game, you should check the system requirments. Is the laptop fast enough and very important: the graphics card is compatible with this game?
    Check this box!

If you meet the system requirements make sure that the latest Toshiba display driver is installed. Don t use the driver from nVidia directly, it doesn t have a protection against overheating.

And you have installed the latest version of DirectX?

  • Satellite P500-1DZ starts only with remote control

Hi, I just bought a new laptop Satellite P500 after owning a P200-13Z and P300-160 years without ever having had a problem with one of them.

I have a problem with the P500-1DZ that I bought because it does not start the power button when he was arrested for a period of time, as for example the night.

If I stopped and immediately press the power button its fine and it starts as well with the remote control.

In the BIOS, I noticed that there is an option for remote start to the top of the control that is enabled, but Im a little worried about this deactivation in case I can't restart the laptop... everyone has ideas?

Also for other users of the P500 who are dissatisfied witht the audio output of the laptop, I fixed that uninstall the Audio drivers Connexant HD, then by restarting which allows Windows to install its own audio drivers... which has greatly improved the audio output of the laptop... even if its not as good as the old P300.

    Thank you

    Hi spidercpfc,

This question really strange s with this start of the issue and I think that it of difficult to say why it happens exactly, but as written Akuma you should try upgrading the BIOS. You can download it from the official page of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

Last week I updated the BIOS of my P500 also and it worked, I t has not had any problems. I updated the BIOS to the version preinstalled Windows as an administrator. Also, I closed all programs running (AntiVirus, Firewall, browser, etc.) and disconnected from the network. After a few seconds the update was done.

After the update, you should also load default settings in the BIOS. So press F9 in BIOS setup and save these settings.

    I hope this works. :)

This laptop is preforming really kicking up. It took 10 minutes to boot and load all startup programs. I understand that there are many programs of preloading of Toshiba. I have disabled many of them, the situation does not improve. Later, I reformatted the laptop and reinstall windows 7, didn't install any program from Toshiba, situation still not improving that much.

Once launched. It is quite slow to open applications. It preforms as memory is not sufficient, as the latest version of Windows running on a really old computer. Sometimes it randomly freezes for a few seconds while watching videos or playing games.

many times, windows 7 freezes while I download. I Force shutdown, then restart the computer. Check with Microsoft, stil could not determine if it is a hardware or software problem.

    Hello

I have the same machine and use it daily. To be honest, I agree with you: it's not the fastest machine but solid multimedia notebook. A few months ago I ve decided to tune up.
The first step has been upgraded RAM so I ve upgraded to max level. It was a little better, but I was not so happy. Friend of mine told me I should upgrade/Exchange SSD HARD drive so I ordered one.

After Exchange SSD, I was really surprised how fast Mobile runs. It load Windows in just 35 seconds and open all applications in a few seconds. Everything runs very fast so if you want to have great P500 RAM upgrade and use SSDS. Believe me you will be happy with your machine.

To be honest, I really like P500 and it is for me very nice machine of Toshiba. I wouldn't go for a newer model.
