Satellite P840 - Wi - Fi keeps stalling

The Wi - Fi on my new P840 Satellite keeps dropping out.

I'll be sitting in the same place and have the excellent Wi - Fi connectivity and then 5 minutes later, I have an asterisk above the levels of Wi - Fi in the bottom right corner, then saying limited connectivity.

So I change to a different Wi - Fi modems in the House and it works for about 20 minutes and then the same thing happens and I lose the ability to use the internet. I know that it s not my Wi - Fi like all other computers in the House has no problem with connectivity. In addition it isn't where I am sitting as I can sit anywhere is home and the problem still occurs.

Someone had this problem?
Is there something I can do to fix this?

Hi guys.

Anyone of your cheque made the various settings of the WLan router?
I m thinking the different WLan standard 802.11 A / B / G / N as well as the King of encryption (WPA / WPA2 TKIP AES) and different channels 1-11

Channels provides a frequency different (2412 Mhz 2462 Mhz) and in many cases, this could be the reason for some compatibility issues and performance between the router and wireless network card
http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels

By the way: I found and read very interesting article of Microsoft on the connectivity problems or performance issues when you connect a portable computer that runs Windows to a wireless access point.

Check these proposals of solution:

  • Satellite A665-S6050 - wireless keeps dropping

    Hello

I have a Satellite A665-S6050 who keeps dropping my internet connection every 15 minutes. I'm sure this isn't my router. This happens in my library home, second home, main, Starbucks, appoint you.

I have to click on the connection many times sometimes disable internet and then reconnect or restart the computer, etc.. The weird part is that the window that appears when I knocked on the connection icon in the right corner of the computer shows that I am connected, but the small icon itself has that. on this subject. I'm so sick and tired of remove connections in the middle of paying bills and others, it becomes really aggravating. This just started a few months ago.

Is there someone out there who has had this problem and can tell me how to fix it? Thank you!

    Hi ctay122,

Let me guess. This happens while you are using the Eco mode on your laptop, right?

I ask this question because I noticed the same behavior on my Satellite A660 and the reason is that the WLAN Card for energy savings settings will be activated in eco mode to save energy. What you have to do is disable management feature in the power management Windows for the power of energy WLAN eco profile. You must configure the network card wireless for maximum performance, then the connection will not be lost.

I recently had to reinstall Windows 8 and since then my wireless keeps dropping out.
Sometimes, he remains connected for a few hours, sometimes minutes.

My speed has also dropped considerably.
My internet works perfectly well on other devices in the House so I know that it is a problem of laptop.

In any case, the little light on the laptop wireless displays in orange.
I tried to turn wi - fi and turn it on again with no luck.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
I have download the drivers on the toshiba site and still no luck.

    > I recently had to reinstall Windows 8 and since then my wireless keeps dropping out.

and I guess you have no. WLan performance issues prior to reinstallation of Win 8.
    Is this correct?

The whole issue is probably related to some parameters.
I recommend you to check the following settings.

In the device-> card Manager WLan-> properties-> tab power management
Here, you must deselect the option to disable the device (Wlan) in the case of saving power.

In addition, you should check the WLan energy saving setting
Control Panel-> power-> plan management power-> for advanced power settings-> wireless adapter settings. The parameter must be set to the Performance

  • Satellite C660-108 - fan keeps running

I just bought a Satellite C660-108 and pleasure keeps running all the time. Is this normal?

    Hi Judith_2,

If your laptop computer is in idle mode, it isn't normal that the fan still works. Normally it should start and stop as on other models.
But if you run some background applications such as Internet browser, Antivirus, etc., it may be normal because the CPU causes a lot of heat and it must be cooled to protect it from damage.

Anyway, you can try to change the cooling method in Windows power management. You can choose between a maximum Performance and battery optimized. If you want to reduce, change the value of the latter.
I confirm there is really a difference between the methods of cooling and optimized battery is much quieter.

  • Satellite A305 - error message keep appearing from

    Hello, I have a Satellite A305-S6857 laptop
A few days ago to XP downgrade Vista. It worked well but suddenly yesterday when I restart windows,.

    * the system has recovered from a mistake of the serosa

A log of this error has been created

For more information about this error, click here * so I clicked and it said

    error signature
    BCCode: 1000007e BCP1: C0000005 BCP2: BA430F76 BCP3: BA513C94
    BCP4: BA513990 OSVer: 5_1_2600 SP: 3_0 product: 256_1

So I simply ignored, did cancel but it keep poping up and I made reports but it did not work either.
So I restart again but still the same. Every time I have restart this pop-up.

So I googled on this topic and I've done something and I think after I did uninstall and reinstall a driver GMA an another error message too. It says * the Publisher could not be verified. are you sure you want to run this software? * and I say yes, he shows me another one same thing 3times.

It's really annoying and after that I got a few messages pop up, my computer has become slow and sometimes it stopped

    help me guys...

    > He says that the Publisher could not be verified. are you sure you want to run this software?
Maybe something wrong with the graphics card driver or other software which is not certified by Microsoft

Did you use some third-party software, tools and 3rd applications?
Have you installed the drivers from Toshiba or other websites of third 3rd page?

Check the msconfig-> Start up tab and take a look at the list of background processes.
If there are some applications that are not known to you, then turn it off.

In the worst cases, you need to reinstall the OS.

  • Satellite A660-07 s keeps freezing

Last January, I bought a Toshiba portable computer satellite 07 s and it keeps freezing. Mainly, it freezes when commissioning, the awakening of the sleeping and, recently, it started freezing when I unplugged the headset jack.

I took the laptop in the service desk at the store that I bought it to and they told me to do a system restore, but it has not been working for a long time. I recently took in a second time and he sent me to a Toshiba service center they couldn t find anything wrong with her and sent again and after all that, it was another system restore still didn't solve the problem.

    Now what should I do?

    Hello

Maybe the Toshiba service agents could not fix it because they could not replicate that gel. The laptop freezes only occasionally and not always. Right?
Well, that makes it harder and harder.

Have you checked the HARD drive?
Check if using a free tool called Drive Fitness Test. This can be downloaded from different pages.
You can also check the RAM. Of course, I would recommend using new test modules.
    But what to say; This problem may be related to any part of the laptop; It could be a problem software or hardware;
You said that the setting of the laptop back to factory settings helped for a short time; Well maybe, there is a process or a software that affect the functionality of the laptop

  • Satellite P100 - time clock keeps changing

The clock on my Satellite P100 continues to change (running Win XP MCE) randomly during the day while it is running.

When I start the PC in the morning, clock's time similar to when I turned off the day before.

I use my PC in my office connected to the power supply. For the first months of ownership I left battery off the computer because I wanted to preserve his life. I don't want to run on battery and go through a process of charge-discharge throughout the day while I'm working. I was wondering if this could be the problem and now keep the main battery plugged all the time but the clock still continues to change.

The clock doesn't change by specific hours, but at some point almost randomly sometime before the correct time. Sometimes a few minutes, sometimes hours.

I installed and run all of the last anti-virus, spyware etc etc and nothing is detected.

Looks like my faulty CMOS/RTC battery?

This is my work computer and I can't afford to be without it for more than a day. I don't want to go back with all my data on HDD business.

Someone knows how it is easy to replace the RTC battery yourself (I know it will void the warranty)-I am an experienced PC "Builder" and fortunately can disassemble computers etc.

I hope that someone can offer some advice. Why Toshiba is not a help line that you can ask for help?

    Hello

Maybe it's not a RTC battery problem, but the problem of BIOS?

It is very interesting, if this resource conflict could have a bad influence on the time of windows.

  • Satellite P300 - 20 H keeps closing

When to start the power logo and satellite lights for five seconds and then turns off. Swap the memory modules. (2 x 2 GB ddr2 6400), took out the hard drive, the dvd drive keyboard and wireless modem. Always the same.

The battery and the charger turned off and the power dissipated with the button works / stop for 30 seconds. Checked the fan and it is clean. Tried again and still a problem. Someone at - it any ideas what to try next.

    Thanks in advance. Jimbo

    Looks like the motherboard problem.
Are you sure that the modules of memory are OK?
I had similar problem and one of the modules has been defective.
I always recommend to check this using new, tested modules.
But of course, it may be a motherboard problem, and this means that the solution would be a costly affair.

  • Satellite P840: How to create the secure boot with UEFI Bios recovery disk

I found your previous thread on this topic:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=74272

    > 1. How to create a DVD repair or start for windows 8.1 pro with UEFI Bios and boot secured.
To be able to boot from sources other than the drive HARD internal, the boot mode must be set to the CSM and secure boot must be disabled!

    > 2. I created a USB recovery using the control panel in Windows Pro 8.1. It starts OK. It will be the same as that I've created using the Toshiba Media recovery creator or will it drivers Windows Pro 8.1?

Your laptop has been preloaded with Win 8. Right? For example, the USB flash stick memory you just use the Toshiba Recovery media creator contains the Image of Toshiba with Windows 8. Don t mix this Toshiba image with the image that can be created using Microsoft's own backup and restore function. Both are different pictures!

    > 3. Check it with disk management, then 3 (450MO, 350 MB and GB 10.90) recovery partitions, 1 EFI system partition and 2 partitions primary (C: programs) and D: for data. I created the recovery DVD and USB 2 disks. Can I remove the 3 recovery partitions?

The last partition contains the files on HARD drive recovery. Usually this partition will be created again when you use the Toshiba Recovery disk to put the laptop back to factory settings. So in the case where you n t need this files or the partition, you can delete
