Satellite P850 - temperature increase very quickly

Hi, I recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite P850 12Z.
I'm happy with it, is fast and strong as my previous Toshiba laptops.
But I suspect that the thermal paste is not well implemented in the CPU.
When you perform a stress test, temp fires from 60 ° c to 93-95 ºC in just 2 seconds.
Then he suddenly falls to 75 ° c, it rises again to 95, and so on, all this happens 3 times in 2-3 seconds.
It seems that the thermal protection on chip and its threshold.

I know that the cooling in a laptop usually get 80 ° c or more, but his little small and not instantaneous, lets say in 15 seconds or less to reach this temperature.
The GPU is right, it is idling at 50 ° c and reaches 67ºC a minute.

This situation makes me believe I have not to feel the power of my core i7 3610qm, as the Turbo will not work because the fast rise time and also it seems to be slow coming from temperatures.

What should I do? I guess that cleaning and application of paste of money on the CPU Arctic void my warranty, or not?

Thank you

To be honest I m fan of the Toshiba P series and now I third portable Satellite. It is P500 and I m so happy with it, but it will be nice to have more recent Satellite P, something like P875.

Back to your question. Of course on this path virtual, it is not easy to tell if the described problem is related to the block of money on CPU and this should be clarified with the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country.
> What should I do?
I recommend you contact the closest to the ASP and ask for help or advice.
> I guess that cleaning and application of paste of money on the CPU Arctic void my warranty, or not?
Without a doubt. You are not allowed to disassemble the laptop and such action will void the warranty.

Don t do anything on your own. Call and ask for help.

My Toshiba satellite L300 warms very quickly, I've had this laptop for about 2 years (2008-05-26). Recently, it's warmer and off, which happened twice.
I was wondering if it is a danger or anything I should look out for.
    Thanks :)

  • Satellite Pro A10: battery discharged very quickly

I had the laptop for about 2 years and it has been very good. But in recent weeks the battery (when not on power) discharge VERY quickly (in a minute or two) as soon as any disk activity takes place. I guess it must be the battery, but I noticed recently that even after being in power for several hours while I had used widely, he showed he was still that 90% of charge.

I am aware that recharge the battery too frequently can cause the battery be reduced significantly but I made a point to let him unload frequently to try to avoid this.

    This one any sense?

    Thank you
    PEB

    Hello

The fact is that you can charge and discharge the battery about 500 times. After this period, only the battery loses performance and you need to replace.
The battery is covering 1 year warranty.
Increased time battery life it s recommended to remove the battery if the power adapter is plugged.

In your case, I think the battery is dead, and if you want to use the laptop with the battery you need to replace.

  • Re: Satellite A665-11Z - CPU fan becomes audible very quickly

    Hi guys,.

After having many problems with an A660, I decided to buy a laptop A665-11Z 3D. I had much better and more stable than the A660, but I noticed that the fan noise accumulates very quickly and can be a little annoying.

The A665-11Z has an I7-740QM processor and a Nvidia GT - 350M 1 GB dedicated graphics card so they can contribute to this, but all four cores temperature exceeds about 52 degrees (which seems normal for me) and yet its still has its fan turns up to be that sound.

I exchanged the laptop with my retailer twice already as one had a noisy fan and the other a bad hard drive. They had all the noisy fans and the one I have now has been silent so far, but is even harder than normal. I tried to play with the settings "Advanced" options for power management and played a bit with 'High Performance' cooling options to "Battery optimized". It does not constantly on 'Battery optimized' (as it does in High Performance) but when it lights it is even stronger and it takes too long to switch off).

Is this normal with all A665 and I just have to continue to live with it?

    Thank you

    Hello

What to say? I use laptops now almost 10 years and have changed several models (not only the portable Toshiba) and I can say that some models have a cooling fan stronger and some are quite calm but none of them was absolutely quiet and silent.

In General, I had good experience with method option in settings of cooling energy saving and after changing battery optimized mode, I noticed that s laptop cooling fan is much quieter than before. Unfortunately there is not much you can do about it and I'm afraid that you have to live with it.

I put t know what kind of activities you have every day with your laptop, but if you use it for internet, office, Skype or something similar use with power with lower CPU performance management. Processor is powerful enough and you won't see lower performance than before. Make sure you also cooling fan is not blocked and the laptop can be cooled properly.
I m afraid you must live with it.

The thing than an end: you wrote >... I have now has been silent so far, but is even stronger than normal.
At this point I m wondering what is normal and how is it defined?

    Hi, manual

Believe me, according to your explanation, that it is not easy to say exactly what is happening. In my opinion, just an intensive audit can train with a few explanations.

Is that your permanent unit connect to the AC adapter when this happens?
Is the monitor off feature enabled in the power manager?

On this path, it is not easy to tell what's happening.

  • Satellite P850 - is the speed of the STRANGE Bay as soon as disk HARD drive Bay?

    I have a Toshiba Satellite P850 - 31L

I use a "shopping cart" to install a second disk storage in the Bay of my perspective. I have an SSD and a HARD drive and I wonder who I should install in which Bay.

Are the speeds of the same berries?

    There are problems of temperature?

Any suggestions which drive should go in which Bay?

    Thank you

    Scott

At first, I have to say that it will be very interesting to know where you found this caddy and what part number there. Maybe you could post the link. I assume that you have purchased a non-Toshiba part.
    Am I right about that?

In my view, this question is not whether important because SSD is much faster in general. I assume you need disc to store data, so in my opinion, you should install SSD instead of HARD drive for faster and faster start-up for laptop computer in general. S computer portable HARD drive, you must use as the second expansion pack.

  • On Satellite P850 - 30Q fan noise

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba Satellite P850 - 30Q a week ago and overall, I love the machine, nice design, good performance, great speakers... BUT:

The FAN NOISE is driving me crazy? I had a lot of laptops different in my life, but never experienced something like this. Normally I don't notice not the fan, but this laptop I noticed that the fan.

At idle, I can hear the HARD drive - I can live with that.
Fire use, desk and surf the internet and as the fan lights up now and then to 53% and really loud! -Its disturbing when I'm trying to study?
When I play games the fan is 53% permanently, and after like 5-15 min, to happen to + 80%, what is really strong? -I can live with the fan when I play games, but not when I study or use it for use of the lamp in the train or the school.

Am I the only one to go through this?

If there is no resolution, I will return the product to the store. Its just sad when I like the rest and despite the fan Im happy on this issue.

    Hope you can help.

    > great but when I play games it rattles

Have you noticed the usual fan noise or noise appears as something wrong with ball bearing cooling fan would be?

It s nothing unusual as fans of cooling would turn faster everything!
While gaming, the GPU and the CPU produce a lot of heat. This increases the temperature and therefore the propellers rotate faster. Here's how it works!

But if the fans create an unusual sound, then that would mean that the cooling module may be defective and THIS should be verified by technicians is why would I wait not for any solution, but IF it's a hardware problem, the solution is just a replacement of parts.

  • Satellite P850 - no internet connection to help to win 8

    Can someone help me?
I have just upgraded to Windows 8 on my Satellite P850 and now, according to what I'm trying to do, it is sometimes said that there is no Internet connection.

I certainly link strong, because it works very well in the new application of Internet Explorer, Norton 360 and Windows itself. But it won't work in other things on the desktop, such as iTunes, the Toshiba Upgrade Wizard, Internet Explorer on the desktop, Safari etc.

Why is this? Of course the most important thing is the Toshiba Upgrade Wizard, but that's not very far because she needs an Internet connection.

Please help as soon as POSSIBLE. If you need additional information, let me know.

    Hello

This happen using LAN or WLan?
If you have problems with internet using WiFi, I recommend that you check the connection to the local network.

In addition, you must make sure that your software installed and other affect t tools don with that 8 to win in some cases it could be a problem software that are not compatible with Win 8 preinstalled.

I also see that you have Norton installed check if installed security tools don t affect the internet connection!

  • Satellite P850 - 3 repeated Crysis crash to desktop

    Hello!

    I recently bought a:

    Satellite P850 - 31L
    Part number: PSPKFE-00P007EN

and I'm very happy with the laptop overall. However, I have problems running 3 Crysis and Assassin Creed 3 on the device.

In both cases, that they often crash to the desktop and are followed by a journal of events applications such as:

The failing application name: crysis3.exe, version: 1.2.0.0, time stamp: 0x02f47040
The failed module name: d3d11.dll, version: 6.2.9200.16420, time stamp: 0x505a95af
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Offset: 0x00068dd7

Its pretty easy to see that the problem is related to DirectX 11 on the nVidia card.

I have a laptop specifications lower HP with a 230M nVidia GeForce series running Assassin Creed 3 without problem (although it won't run Crysis 3 due to the lack of Dx11 support).

I have tried to update the drivers for nVidia display current offical those on Satellite, but am prevented from doing so because of the soft lock used in Toshiba hardware.

I am currently using the drivers of December on the Toshiba site.

I wish I had a solution to this problem as I know that the laptop is more than capable to run these two games more than adequately. My guess is it's a tension within the video memory, but not problem can not test what I do not have a pilot exposing this.

    Thanks in advance,

    Crispian

nVidia Driver can be installed in the Device Manager, but the use of these drivers is at your own risk.
To install the driver through the Device Manager:

    1. open Control Panel.

    2. in the upper left of the Control Panel dialog box, click the words 'Classic view' causes the control panel to switch to Classic view.

    3. double-click on the icon customization and - after the Customize dialog box is displayed - double-click the display settings option.

    4. click on the button Advanced settings of the display settings dialog box.

    5. to the map of the dialog box tab advanced settings, note the exact name of the adapter type that is currently in use. This can be important if you ever want to return to this driver.

    6. after jotting down the name of the existing adapter type, click Properties. If Windows asks you for permission, click on continue.

    7. click Driver tab, then click the Update Driver button.

    8. Windows will ask if you want to automatically search or search for a software driver. Choose the option "Browse my computer for driver software".

    9. in the next dialog box that appears, click on the option "Let Me pick from a list of drivers for devices on my computer.

    10. a list of video drivers will appear, and you must scroll to the bottom and select Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. Click next after making the selection.

    11. Once Windows indicates that it has updated the driver software, you can click Close or Ok many times that you should close all open dialogs of the control panel. If, during this process, Windows asks you if you want to restart your computer for the changes to take effect, click Yes.

  • Satellite P850 - Windows 8 will not restart properly

Does anyone know why Windows 8 will not restart correctly on the laptop Satellite P850?

It seems that whenever I have to restart, especially after the installation of an update, it crashes right on the screen of "Reboot" and I usually find myself having to hold the power button down to completely stop and then turn upwards again. Sometimes, I still have to do to make it stop.

I would be very grateful for any help that anyone can give me please.

I have no idea why the Windows 8 will not restart correctly, but this document should help you to repair or restore the system of Windows 8 on your Satellite P850

  • Lost on Satellite P850 recovery partition

    G ' Day alll.

Been out of the game for a while, got a Toshiba Satellite P850
I thought I'd set it back to factory default so hit zero key.

Came with option erase hdd, Toshiba Recovery Wizard.

I thought that big, it will be erased the hard drive then to let me use the hidden partition to reinstall the new copy of windows8 accompanying.

Now I get up at startup
Reboot and select proper boot device or insert pre start-up support and boot device selected any key.

IM gob felt that his own Toshiba Recovery Wizard it would wipe clean recovery partiton...

so now have no recovery partition as im aware by pressing the zero key is constantly with the above...

think I've done a big Jeremy.

Looking for best way & eaiest way to solve this problem?
    was soon macka.

Ive tried to use my hiren & bootcd but wont even pick up after chaning boot order in the bios first cd player etc.

    everything keeps going back to
Reboot and select proper boot device or insert pre start-up support and boot device selected any key.

    any help will be appreciated.
Cheers again Macka. Am I missing something?

Your biggest mistake was that you didn't create recovery media using pre-installed recovery media creator tool. With the support of recovery (DVD or USB key), you'll be able now to install original recovery image. It is also described in the document s user manuals. This backup is very important.

It's that you can't force your laptop have access or install recovery image, if it is still saved on the HARD drive. Now, you can either install the clean version of the OS using installation disc of Microsoft or order original Toshiba Recovery disk for recovery image installation.

I don't know where you live, but if you have the European model for laptop, you can order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • Satellite P850 - find the 'F' keys

Is it possible to reverse the path that the Toshiba Satellite P850 is implemented regarding the duty press function to activate the keys "F"?

    Thank you very much

  • Satellite P850 138 - updated graphics card is possible?

My Toshiba Satellite P850 138 comes with an nvidia GT 630 M graphics card. I know to replace the graphics card (if it is even possible) is a long-term work... but can someone tell me if I CAN upgrade the graphics card and if yes, what options are available?

Very often on this forum, we discussed on GPU, or replacement upgrade and you will find many topics with the same theme.
You have a mobile unit and upgrade possibilities are very limited due to many different factors.
Generally the upgrade GPU is not supported and you should not experiment.
Nice article on this subject, you can find on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

By the way: it must be fairly new laptop model. Why you didn t buy machine with more powerful and better graphics card?

It's amazing. I am very disappointed with Toshiba.

Unfortunately, something like this will not work. Best thing you can do now is to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

You shouldn't be disappointed. I know it's stupid situation but make a call, explain the situation and the guy will help you.
