Satellite Pro 4320 - replacement of CDROM

Hello

I'm new to the forum here so apologies for any bad "neticate".

I recently acquired a Toshiba Satallite Pro 4320 and tries to replace the CDROM drive with a CD - RW DVD combi drive. I took every screw I can find out and he will always come out! How the hell can I replace the CD-ROM unit? I thought that just, he slipped on the side. Someone at - it a scheme of ventilation to show me how to disassemble?

Help!

Thanks in advance

Barry

I have an exploded view of a SP4600.
Not the same, but maybe you can use that to understand?

  • Satellite Pro 4320 CD upgrade

First of all, sorry if this message appears twice. I posted earlier this morning and he did not notice in the list of the forums then posted again.

I myself have recently a Satellite Pro 4320, but want to upgrade the standard CD-ROM drive to a CD - RW. I found a car at a computer fair and manage mounting.

I thought that you could drag the disc on the side and replace it - but alas no! I deleted EVERY visible screw unit and it STILL don't fall apart!

Help! How can I change the CDROM - I have not sent it to a service provider for the lack of a second-hand car £5... I do?

    Thanks in advance

    Barry

    Hello Barry

It is not easy to change the CD-rom on this machine and if you don't have a lot of experience you shouldn't do it yourself. Problem is that the CD is fixed on the map system and if you want to remove the drive must disconnect the System Board at first.

To do this, you need to disassemble the whole laptop and open it by completely removing the top cover.

Sorry but I can't give you more information because any dismantling procedure is not known to me.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite Pro 4320: cannot use PCMCIA card after update BIOS 2.70

    Hello!

I'm using the Toshiba Satellite Pro 4320 (SP 4320). With the very old BIOS (first) version 1.0, the system has worked well on LINUX (Ubuntu) and Windows XP. So I found the update of the BIOS (latest version on the toshiba Web site). I did update the BIOS version 1.0 BIOS version 2.7.

Now, I can't use any PCMCIA card.
Everything works fine, but I can't use two PCMCIA slots.
The cards will be recognized, but the system says that there is a resource conflict.
(WLAN/WiFi adapter) PCMCIA cards worked very well with the old BIOS version 1.0, but now it does not work.

Windows XP says: 'conflict resource' and Ubuntu/Linux said after typing dmesg: "pccard gives wrong answer, for example."

    Please, help me!

Someone got an older version of BIOS?
My idea is to 'downgrade' the BIOS BIOS version 1.0 or version 1.x.

I have to downgrade the BIOS to at least 2. 6.

    Bye,.
    Martin

Have you tried installing WXP again using Toshiba Recovery CD?
I mean it's so old model of laptop and I can't imagine that Toshiba will offer this update of the BIOS so long if there is a serious problem with it.

Or, if you please, if you know a DVD - RW drive compatible with this laptop, then share your knowledge for me and others know what to buy. Thank you.
Or are all the available discs today compatible?

Compatibility of the player is always a problem to upgrade. The fact is that every ODD won't work with each laptop model. I assume it's due to the assignment of the different pins.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any list of compatible sides for your laptop model. Sat Pro 4320 is quite old and it will probably not so easy to find the compatible DVD - RAM drive. Try to contact Toshiba authorized in your country. They are upgrading specialized and they know which sides are compatible for this laptop Satellite Pro.

  • Satellite Pro 4320 utility & XP

    I have a Satellite Pro 4320

I upgraded to win 98 to xp so that I can
run my software works, but now I can't
    access the toshiba utilities.

Anyone have any ideas where I could download the files
or updates so I can change my settings of the laptop that the version of Tdiag wont work on XP and I can not find
    an update

    Hello

As I know your unit only is not supported with Windows XP. If I remember there Win98SE that was preinstalled on your laptop. I don't know, but it will be very difficult to do all this tools work. If you install the tools you can find on the CD-ROM of the tools will not work properly because they are adapted to work only with Win98.

  • Upgrade memory for a Satellite Pro 4320

I own a Satellite Pro 4320. He has the memory factory (64 MB), and I want to develop it. I read in the manual that it is possible to install up to 576 MB. But in other documents and web pages, I read that 320 MB is the maximum memory.

Anyone know what is the right number?

Does anyone know where to find 256 MB modules (if they can be installed)? I found only 128 MB modules.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I found information that 320 MB Max for this device. I have also not lucky to find the 256 MB RAM module for this device. There are two possibilities. You can contact the partner in your country and stopped a single module or you have to find some pieces of mobile equipment supplier in your country.

  • Card PCMCIA Avaya on a machine Satellite Pro 4320 - 31 to load the driver error code

The machine works perfectly in all respects. Recently attempted to add an Avaya Silver wireless card to the system.

Somehow the system has problems with the supplied driver. I have redownloaded the driver support site (now on version 7.62, the driver should support the card as a "Avaya Wireless PC Card".) I have to the latest driver available.

Given that the machine works under Windows 2000, SP4 and all available patches, and yet didn't have questions about installing a card like this on a Windows 2000 computer before, I'm a little confused as to what may cause the problem.

The card is detected properly, and the pilot is recognized. When installed the Device Manager still representing a yellow exclamation mark on the map of Avaya. When investigating this error shows that Windows 2000 cannot load the drivers on an error code 31.

I found Code 31 made reference to possible support material that gives the questions. I turned my attention to the CardBus controller (ToPIC100 according to Device Manager). The version used is Microsoft, 20/06/2003, 5.00.2195.6717.

Appearantly it is a newer driver (5.1.2600.0) but I failed to bring one downloaded. Seems that it is only available through Windows Update, which does not show the update as being available for the machine.

Then... Anyone know how to get the map Avaya Wireless Silver active PCMCIA on a Satellite Pro 4320? I need a newer driver, or can not be done at all?

  • Satellite Pro 4320 - upgrade to Windows XP Home edition

I have a 'standard' of Satellite Pro 4320 and plans the upgrade from Windows 2000 to XP - either domestic or professional. Y at - it advice on the problems or things to watch I'm likely to encounter?

    Hi Graham,

Only problem you may have is that the Toshiba utilities were all designed for Windows 2000 and may not work properly with XP. Downloads available for your laptop have only an update of the BIOS for XP.

Obviously XP contains device and utility drivers much more generic, so you may find that your system will work very well with the latter. Similarly, you can see that install the original Toshiba utility will work also. I have no definitive evidence either way.

You can also find you would benefit to increase the RAM since XP uses rather than previous operating systems.

  • What HARD drive I can install on Satellite Pro 4320?

I can install disk HARD 40 GB in Satellite Pro 4320 or it is great for my laptop.

    Hello

I guess that the laptop is very old, because I found on the internet that it was delivered with a 6 GB HARD drive! Wow

I think that if the laptop has been delivered with the 6GB, so it is not possible to use a 40 GB HARD drive. I'm afraid that the BIOS will not recognize this large size m.

I think it's maybe s possible to use a 20 GB but you know s just a suggestion. In my opinion, you should test the HARD drive before you buy.

  • Satellite Pro 4320 - update the BIOS

    Hello

Can someone tell me how to upgrade the bios on a Satellite Pro 4320?

I downloaded the update of the Toshibas files download area and read the instructions, but in vain.

It doesn't seem to be a flash Bios of Windows for the 4320 utillity, so I just downloaded the zip file and place content (1 Exe, 1 tray, 1 Pdf) on a floppy, rebooted the laptop holding F12 but I got was 3 lines of text in German and a DOS prompt - I know that I downloaded from the site of English support because I did it 3 times now!

    Thank you

    Barry

    Hello

It is a statement of the BIOS update:

    1. step:
Use a (not bootable) 1.4 MB 3.5 "floppy and copy the BIOS files on it."
    2. step:
Turn off the machine, turn it on by now pressed the F12 key
and choose to boot from the diskette.
For more recent machines, press the ALT key and the SPACEBAR
    The rest is automatic.

If there is only a problem please read the information to update the BIOS on the Web site.

  • Satellite Pro P100 - replacing the HARD drive internal

I have a Satellite Pro P100 with a concert of 60 internal HDD and would like to replace this with a 250 or 320 GB drive.

Anyone can suggest a way to imagery of the current drive and copy this back to the new drive without having to re - install the operating system and other installed software?

I have a couple of USB 2.0 external drives with sufficient capacity.

    Hello

You first need to know if the more drive HARD 250 GB or 320 GB would be compatible and if the BIOS recognize this HARD drive without major worries!
The problem is that not all HARD drive sizes are supported by the BIOS.
Then all first check if the new HARD drive are supported!

You ask how to get all the files on the new disk? I recommend good reinstall the OS from the recovery CD. It would be to reinstall the OS, drivers, tools, utilities.
If you have other files such as mp3, etc it then backup to the external USB HDD.
Then you could connect this HARD drive to the laptop and could transfer it on the internal HARD disk.

    Hi guys!

I want to put in a DVD - ROM drive in my Satellite Pro series 4300 (SP4320) to replace the current cd-rom installed TEAC. I was wondering what dvd - rom readers would be appropriate.

Would be especially drive DVD TOSHIBA sd-c2302 model and the drive DVD Teac DV - 28F be compatible with my laptop? Sites, I checked that the TEAC seems to be cheaper...

In any case thanks for any advice!

    Hi Faisal

I m not, of course, what car models are compatible with your device. In my opinion the best thing you can do is to contact a Service partner and ask for more information.

    Hi Rob

It is quite complicated to explain how to remove the optical disk drive. Before you do this, you must remove the top cover. The optical disk drive is fixed with two screws. When you remove the two of them, you can get out the ODD of its Bay.

Sorry, but without exact maintenance manuals is not easy to explain this. It is quite complicated to disassemble the procedure for this model of laptop. Do you have already removed your Satellite Pro?
