  • Satellite Pro 4600 - installing the Audio driver for Win98 SE

    Hi all

    I m new here.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 abandoned and I put Win98 SE edition on it.

The problem I have is I can download the audio driver, but when it comes for her, he asks me a yahama cd that installs, I think its 4 or 5 drivers from the cd. I currently do not have this cd so I was wondering how to get around this problem.

    Thank you for reading

    Hello

I found the Win 98SE driver sound for the Satellite Pro 4600 on the European driver Toshiba page.
You have to look in the folder to ARCHIVE.

http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> support download &-> download drivers

    He choose: * Archives-> Satellite Pro-> Satellite Pro 46xx-> Satellite Pro 4600-> Win 98SE *.

In addition to information of Yamaha audio driver, you can find these details:
+ A wide range of audio controls are possible using this audio driver, including: Software Synthesizer, the microphone volume, 3D development and management Power +.

So I think that this driver should help you!

  • Satellite Pro C660-1LR - new HARD drive but no recovery disk

I need help for my son who is the Satellite Pro C660 1LR laptop.

In this portable hard drive is completely dead, I have not created a disk of recovery for this system of portable computers.
I bought a new hard drive that is installed... However, as you guessed it I have no access to reinstall an OS, this laptop works on windows 7.

I'm not really tech savvy so if someone can advise me please do explain to the fool proof format! I try to avoid having to buy something expensive.

    > I'm trying to avoid having to buy something expensive.
Problem is that you don't have many options in this regard.
If you want to have the factory again settings you must install recovery disc. You can order on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx of course is not free, but, in my opinion, without a doubt the best solution.

You can buy the Microsoft installation disc and install the clean version. You must purchase a valid license for it.
In this case, you must install all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities for more than one by one.

Just in case you can get this installation of Microsoft and the free license you can save money.

Believe me, the best solution is the original recovery disk command.

  • Satellite Pro U400-153 - replacement HARD drive

    Hello

I need help with a new hard drive for the Satellite U400-153. My wife and I have a laptop (canada) U300 as well with a hard drive of 160 GB and a laptop U400-153 (europe) with a 120 GB HARD drive. I wanted to put the larger HARD drive in the U400 but the screws that hold the HARD drive in the laptop are closer together on the 160 GB HARD drive as this 120 GB HARD drive and so I can plug the HARD drive, but I can't replace the casing on the bottom of the laptop. I want to upgrade and put in a new HARD drive, but I can't seem to find any info on weither all readers will be the right size. will be the screws on this form? How will I know

MK3265GSX Toshiba 320 GB 2.5 "hard drive SATAII 5400 RPM 8 MB Cache - OEM

Does it matter what company it comes? I thought I got it was weird that the Satellite U300 would not transfer more easily.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know...

    Thank you

    Hey,.

Theoretically, you can install each HARD drive with SATA 2.5 form factor interface in Satellite Pro U400.

If you install a new HARD drive in Satellite Pro U400, you must use the old disk cover/case HARD to install.
I put t know what you mean exactly with that, but maybe you can upload a photo to make it clearer.

Finally and above all it doesn t matter what company it comes. You can use a Toshiba or another company HARD disk too like Western Digital, Seagate, etc..

  • Satellite Pro P100 - replacing the HARD drive internal

I have a Satellite Pro P100 with a concert of 60 internal HDD and would like to replace this with a 250 or 320 GB drive.

Anyone can suggest a way to imagery of the current drive and copy this back to the new drive without having to re - install the operating system and other installed software?

I have a couple of USB 2.0 external drives with sufficient capacity.

    Hello

You first need to know if the more drive HARD 250 GB or 320 GB would be compatible and if the BIOS recognize this HARD drive without major worries!
The problem is that not all HARD drive sizes are supported by the BIOS.
Then all first check if the new HARD drive are supported!

You ask how to get all the files on the new disk? I recommend good reinstall the OS from the recovery CD. It would be to reinstall the OS, drivers, tools, utilities.
If you have other files such as mp3, etc it then backup to the external USB HDD.
Then you could connect this HARD drive to the laptop and could transfer it on the internal HARD disk.

  • Satellite Pro 2100 and new hard drive

    Hello

I saw on another post that L0nestar has installed a Western Digital WD2500BEVE (250 GB, 5400 RPM) in a Pro 2100.
The question I have is what the interface is SATA or EIDE? The original drive indicates it is a SATA interface, but the WD2500BEVE is an EIDE interface?

Hope someone can clear this up for me.

    See you soon.

AFAIK all older models of laptops have hard drives with interface EIDE. Satellite Pro 2100 comes with disk HARD Enhanced IDE (ATA-5).

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - error "password HARD drive built-in" at startup

Hi, my laptop (Satellite Pro 6100 P4 - M 1.7 GHz/15TFT/256 MB / 40 GB/DVD-CDRW/LAN/WiFi/BT/W2K or XP) started rather recently invited me with a "Built-in HARD drive password" message at startup upward. I never put no password on the hard drive in the past, though only in desperation to try to get the laptop running, have tried all the possible passwords I have ever had. Nothing works and I'm failed with a laptop dead on my hands. I would appreciate any help/advice anyone can make.

    Thank you.

    Hi Khurram

Unfortunately I think that you will need to replace your hard drive. If your laptop is definitely ask a HDD password then there is no way around it and the only way I know to recover from this situation is to send the hard drive to a specialised company that specialize in this kind of recovery (usually for forensic purposes, Police, armed forces, etc.). This can be very costly.

The easier (and cheaper) option would be for you to replace the hard drive and restore your system and your data (either from a backup if you have one, or from the Toshiba recovery disks).

    Kind regards

  • Satellite Pro P300 - remove the HARD drive to make a backup?

My P300 went to my local store to repair for a network card problem. I thought it was just a software problem or driver, so I wasn't worried that my machine is still under warranty. After investigation, they stated that they could not resolve the issue, so would be to reformat and reinstall the OS, they thought they should solve the problem.

To my horror, I found that they had broken the seals of guarantee and open to the top of the machine. They claimed the only way to save the P300 before reformat it, is to remove the HARD drive!
    Is this true?
(It turns out that a broken chip is to blame, but because they violated the warranty, Toshiba will not touch!)

Can anyone say about this the removal of HD to support it please?

    Hey,.

Normally it of not necessary to restore the factory settings with to remove the HARD drive but don t you worry about this. The laptop can still be opened from a service provider authorized without losing the warranty.

I also put t know why they did, perhaps they have checked the material. It would be possible because they have professional diagnostic tools.

But interesting to know whether or not your problem is now resolved?

  • Satellite Pro 4600 - what is the maximum size of HARD drive?

My age Satellite Pro 4600 has a 20 GB HARD drive. These are now very difficult to obtain, does anyone know if superior capacy HDDs can be used and, if so, what is the maximum size of the HARD drive.

(Despite his age that I always use the Satellite Pro for some jobs).

    Hello John

Satellite Pro 4600 is old enough for laptop and it is not easy to find the exact info. The fact is that this laptop comes with 10 and 20 GB hard drives.
My opinion is that you can use 30 or even 40 GB HDD. I think that 30 GB new HARD drive should be enough for your some jobs.

    What do you think?

  • New DVD drive not recognized on my Satellite Pro 4600

    Hi all

I recently bought an engraver of DVD in NEC ND-6650 nine.
This drive is NOT recognized by my Satellite Pro 4600 at all - neither Windows 2000 nor in the BIOS (v 2.60). BIOS updates higher than the 2.60 version are not provided.
Does that mean I can forget about using the new writer in my old notebook?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Nils

    Hi Nils,

I suspect that your new drive may be not be compatible with your laptop. Like all scanners to your new drive will be configured as slave or master (or CSEL possible), and this configuration should match your laptop.

Usually your hard drive is configured as master on IDE channel 0 with optical drive is the slave on the same channel device. However, you may find that your optical drive is configured as master on the IDE 1 channel.

Normally the setting is preconfigured by the manufacturer so you will need to check both the conficuration of your new drive and the configuration of your original drive to make sure they are the same.

    Kind regards
