Satellite Pro 6100: cursor mouse jumps around

The mouse internal nipple on my laptop does not work, it jumps around in all directions. I tried to replace that with a USB mouse that works fine except that I hit the space bar, then the cursor will jump on the side of the screen.

It will then continue to scroll on the side of the screen, even if I bring him back. Looked at a lot of forums and it looks like a common fault but not a miracle.

Help, please

Hello

I put t think that it s a common fault. It could just be the keyboard malfunctioned.
One of my friends has a Tecra, and the cursor of the mouse jumped crazy on the screen.
It was not possible or very difficult to open all the windows or click on the icons.

The service provider has changed the entire keyboard and it's a solution.
Perhaps you will also need a replacement.

But what happens when allows you to disable the touchpad with FN + F9 function? Make cursor jumps when you use USB mouse?

  • Satellite Pro 6100: cursor moves out of control on the screen

    Hey guys,.

I'm seriously going crazy right about now... my problem is the following:

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100, Windows XP Professional with SP2, memory: 512 MB.

About two weeks ago my cursor began to move up and down whenever I pressed the space bar. It has gotten worse since. My cursor moves out of control across the screen (there are usually in the upper right or lower left) and I can not recover. I know for a fact that it has nothing to do with my external mouse (optical), because this problem also occurs when I use my pointing device. Even in safe mode.

    The thing I've tried:
    Ran Spybot: Search and Destroy
    Ran Adaware
    Xoftspy RAN
A ran Symantic Antivirus 10 (complete analysis of the system in safe mode)
    New keyboard
    New motherboard

Nothing helps. I'm this close to format my pc. Does anyone have a suggestion of what to do?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

I put t he understand. You have changed the keyboard and the motherboard, but you did not recover the OS with the Toshiba Recovery CD.
The first procedure that you should do is the new installation of the OS before you change or replace anything on the laptop.

Unfortunately, it is not easy to say why it occurs. A friend of mine has a similar problem with the cursor. The cursor has jumped on the screen and it was not possible to open applications. It has (or service) resolved with the replacement of keyboard.

If the new installation OS doesn't fix this strange cursor, so I recommend you contact Toshiba.

  • Satellite Pro 6100: cursor disappears in the upper right or lower left corner

I guess because of the setting based on the device keyboard pointer cursor often disappears and is difficult to return to the screen. It is not possible to disable in the bios.
Anyone have a suggestion how to disable this device pointer? I saw that the connection of the keyboard consists of two pieces of a part color Cooper 5 sons and a part of silver color. The colorful copper would be the device pointer and what will happen, is that I simply disconnect the coloured copper of the connector part? I use a USB mouse, so I did not need this device

    Hello

If you really Don t need you should unplug the part coloured copper, I think that this could be the mouse. The connection of the mouse contains generally less son then the connection of the keyboard, so it should work.
On the other side, I suggest you go to ebay and search for a new (can also be used but works) keyboard, because I Don t know if it s really healthy to work with the machine with connectors or cables disconnected internally.

    Welcome them

    Hi guys,.

For some reason any my A300 worked just perfect and all the drivers Toshiba disspeared.

I managed to install again but synaptic touchpad driver, didn t turn off.
I disalble and now the mouse pointer jump around like a wink on the active guides. It's driving me crazy!

Any help or ideas how I can work on it?

    Hello

To use the control of Toshiba and the FN keys buttons, you need to install the VAP (value added package) and the Flash Cards Support utility!
These two tools are important if you running Vista or Win 7.

You can also configure the touchpad again after installing the driver Synaptics and Alps.

Please note that you can configure the touchpad in Control Panel-> mouse->-> properties pointing device.

You will find a few options regarding the sensitivity of the touchpad!

He fled feeding okay and if you disconnect battery lasts for all time and a half.
If I try to defrag it does not have enough power?
So I have to defrag in safe mode.

The other problem is that the mouse disappears off the coast of the right side of my screen and it takes forever to find him!

Would appreciate some advice or solutions like like the laptop and not really wanted to get a new one at the moment.

Oh am running windows at home.
    Thanks in advance.

Update the BIOS and set the default values.

You could try reinstalling the common Modules for Toshiba and energy savings.

If all else fails, there is the opportunity to back up your data and run recovery. If it happens again on a new installation of Windows, it may be a hardware problem.

I tried all settings via the control panel and can not work on why it won't work.
The laptop recognizes the name of it when its plugged in but the States, he has a problem. The dongle USB/receiver with a memory stick with some additional software on this subject, but the laptop does not regognise the memorystick at all. He acknowledges that other memory stick no problem.
That technician school COMPUTER looked at it and can't get by either.

It is usually on the spot.
Any body out there of suggestions?

This mouse works on some laptops newer with USB 2.0 ports?

One last thing: If you use some additional hardware to help apply the manufacturer's support. Computer laptop manufacturer doesn't provide support for certain third party materials.

  • Install the new hard drive on Satellite Pro 6100

    Hello

I have the Satellite Pro 6100 and the hard drive has failed. Bought a new hard drive but have no idea where to begin to install it. Also, I have the product key for windows xp pro, but don't have a disc. Is there a way to get around get one, or someone has any ideas please?

    Thank you

    Michelle

Hmmmm... It's very strange that you n t have idea how to start. Throughout history, there are only two options:
-for the installation of an operating system you can use the original Toshiba Recovery disk that came with this laptop. If you n t have it then
-use the Microsoft installation for the installation of the OS disc. All the drivers, tools and utilities must be installed Additionally one by one. Each of them you can find on Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads

Please note: the product key at the bottom belongs to original recovery image so you probably won't be able to use it for the activation of the operating system.

  • Satellite Pro 6100 himself turn off

    Hello

I'm from the Italy. It is 3 days that my Satellite Pro 6100 after some time (it can be 30 minutes or 3 hours) close itself.
I tried to update bios version 1.70 to 1.90 without any result. I tested my HARD drive and it works fine. I formatted and reinstalled Windows XP Home SP2 Pro edition but the problem that it is still there.
When it crash, reboot, it seems 'BAD RTC BATTERY' and "BAD CMOS", I have to press F1, then I exit without changing anything.

I saw that 3 weeks ago appears at the beginning of this message: "PXE - E61 MEDIA TEST FAILURE CHECK CABLE"and"PXE - MOF OUTGOING INTEL PXE ROM" but works laptop well until 2 days ago.

I don't know why, but every time I restart now stop when WINDOWS XP is on the window (not the first logo on page WXP black) cyan, but the second on the window cyan; can do work that I have to press CTRL + ALT + CANCELLED and it go to the desktop.

I don't know what to do? Center of Toshiba, it is far from my town, if you can help me will be appreciated.

Sorry for my English, I read a few post but exactly with my problems, there is no job.
Thanks in advance, it's a great laptop I jump to save it.

p.s. There is no dust on it, I tried to lift the keyboard to clean, but it was already clean, even behind the fan.

    Hello supertraz,

On 6100 laptop there is a soft spot between the control panel and from the motherboard, causing this malfunction. You will not be able to solve this problem simply raise your keyboard and blowing air into your laptop.

A good description on this problem (I had, too) can be found on this forum posted by user seintaxx here:

  • Satellite Pro 6100 BIOS upgrade question

    Hello

I have a toshiba satellite pro 6100 and currently it has 1.60 bios version and saw that the last update of the bios is the 1.90. My question is: is it question where I get the update of the bios of wheather it is from the site of toshiba UK or the United States, is the same bios update, or are they different? The other question is what I have to do the previous bios updates first 1.60 1.70 1.80 and finally to 1.90, or can I just do the 1.90 and who will have the previous updates in that one later?

    Hi Christian,

I normally prefer to get the update of the BIOS in the same country as I bought the laptop. However, given that the laptop was probably manufactured around the world, I don't think it bothers us really until the update is marked as compatible with your model of laptop. In principle, the update of the BIOS for the components of the laptop and is therefore more linked to the actual model in his country of origin.

It is not normally necessary load the intermediate versions of BIOS as BIOS is usually not cumulative but is provided as a complete package and includes all the code required.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite Pro 6100: cannot get into the BIOS and does not start

I have a portable Satellite pro 6100, en I was trying to boot from an external USB hard drive. When I activated the second hard drive option in the BIOS it has stopped booting all in all, I can't even get into the BIOS Setup more. All I get is "In touch with tomorrow TOSHIBA" screen with the icons to select the method of priming preferred manually after it's just blank screen with a cursor blinking in the upper left.

Press ESC or F8 before to turn usually results in fast beeps sounds.
Press tilde (~) before turn is reflected in the remaining space screen (not even the home toshiba screen appears) and slow Zens sounds.

Apart from that I can't really do nothing at all.
I tried to reset the BIOS by disconnecting the battery CMOS/RTC (hoewever, we call it) of the motherboard for a while with no results.

Turn on/off without the results of HD internal in a white screen with an ERROR 'IDE #0.
I can always stop by pressing the power button, you don't have to bother on the external hard drive it past I don't even want it works more.

    Suggestions?

    Hello

I agree with Graeme. Your HARD drive is probably faulty. Sorry, but I don't think that you will be able to use the external HARD drive. The option in the BIOS is not for EXTERNAL HARD drive is just, I guess, for disk HARD placed in select Bay.

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - error "password HARD drive built-in" at startup

Hi, my laptop (Satellite Pro 6100 P4 - M 1.7 GHz/15TFT/256 MB / 40 GB/DVD-CDRW/LAN/WiFi/BT/W2K or XP) started rather recently invited me with a "Built-in HARD drive password" message at startup upward. I never put no password on the hard drive in the past, though only in desperation to try to get the laptop running, have tried all the possible passwords I have ever had. Nothing works and I'm failed with a laptop dead on my hands. I would appreciate any help/advice anyone can make.

    Thank you.

    Hi Khurram

Unfortunately I think that you will need to replace your hard drive. If your laptop is definitely ask a HDD password then there is no way around it and the only way I know to recover from this situation is to send the hard drive to a specialised company that specialize in this kind of recovery (usually for forensic purposes, Police, armed forces, etc.). This can be very costly.

The easier (and cheaper) option would be for you to replace the hard drive and restore your system and your data (either from a backup if you have one, or from the Toshiba recovery disks).

    Kind regards

Hi - I need a new hard drive for my satellite pro 6100, MK4019GAX part number. I have searched online but have drawn a blank. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Roy

All devices, you can order from the Toshiba service partner in your country.

You can also use an another 2.5 40 GB HDD.

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - battery acting very strange.

As mentioned in the title, my laptop battery is very strange.

    The symptoms are:

When the battery is flat after only 7-10 minutes he turns not, however if the battery is removed and placed in the laptop, the laptop will start as it has never happened.
Not only that, but the bonus after the first can indefinitely until this that loaded into an OS and immediately after starting start the laptop stops due to an apparent lack of power, when there is power always, enough to do the same thing again. Also, the battery can still start even after being just in a freezer.

This reacondioned back to normal battery or is this safe to use battery?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

I guess that your battery is old like machines of this Satellite Pro 6100 and maybe it can't be charged more. In this case, your battery should be replaced.

But even if the battery is faulty, you should be able to use the device connected to the power adapter.
So even if the battery is removed, you could power the unit with the mains.

  • Signal not detected on Satellite Pro 6100 wireless

I have two laptops Satellite Pro 6100, two of them are configured to automatically connect to our local wireless router which they both started.
A computer is used by myself by my wife; bookmarks, email accounts and so on are different on every computer/hard drive.

I have problems with one of the computers (mine) - the usual problem with multispindle connectors on the video boards and feeding, then I tried to use "his" computer with 'ma' machine's hard drive.

His machine does not recognize our LAN with my hard drive installed. He came up with a new network found, but not a wireless network. Also, with this machine and my hard drive installed, can't the machine to search for wireless LANs, the icon does not appear. The switch is turned on for wireless signals and it works very well with his hard drive in it. The network is protected, and the two machines have the same id in them for connection which work fine in the original engine.

I don't really understand this condition. Something in the bios? Something on my hard drive that is not recognized by the computer? the wrong phase of the Moon?
Suggestions how to trouble shoot and fix this?

Both machines are XP Pro on them, latest updates.

    Hello

Also AFAIK, Satellite Pro 6100 was equipped with different Wlan cards so if use different HDD with different driver then the Wlan card could not be detected by Windows XP.

Check if the wireless adapter is listed in the Device Manager and recognized correctly.
