Satellite Pro A10: RTC battery is low or CMOS chesksum unstable

I have a Satellite Pro A10.

When I turn everything first laptop computer on I get RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is unstable - press F1 to set date/time. When I press F1, I get a beep and it's everything that happens. I'm unable to had to set up or do anything at all with the installation program.

I kept it plugged in for 24 hours, but still the same results. I replaced the CMOS battery with a new. But even once, I get the exact same results.

All that happens when I press F1 and a sound signal. Is this a sign that I have probably a problem with the motherboard?

You can access the BIOS and could try to set the default settings, and then save the settings and start again.
If it doesn't, then it must be another reason for this message.

My first thought was that this error pops up because the BIOS battery is empty.
Usually such charge as described in your ad should help get rid of this message.
But it seems that there is a more serious problem

I m not quite sure what this could be, but the hypothesis that a motherboard could malfunction is not wrong.
I think that a fault of mobo might this causes too.

But in my opinion a mobile technician must check to make sure what's wrong.

  • Satellite A40-211: RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent

    Hello

I bought a functioning Satellite A40 - 211 of one of my friends, who had a defective model A60 from where I took the fast hard drive, the memoryupgrade and the internal wifi card, but the only annoying on the A40-211 new thingie is the message that the RTC battery is low or CMOS is incompatible whenever the laptop is turned off and turned on again (which also happens when a warm reboot is done)

After checking the laptop for any other problem (there was none), I decided to replace the RTC battery with a new... about 17,-euros in total cost. (Of the disassemble the whole laptop, but it has more than once 100 or so with other models, takes 15 minutes to disassemble and put them all back again once)
Did charge it new CCF to power the laptop up and leave it for at least 24 hours... (the manual says to do)

No results... always the same... boring message.

I also tried to reflash the bios, but the version 1.50 seems ok and cannot be replaced by the programming software.

So, we have a good laptop to work here, but with an annoying message that cannot be solved?

    Anyone with a good tip?

OK, a response to myself, because I've been tracking something here...

I replaced the hard drive to another laptop (Satellite A60 series) to the A40-211... installing Windows could be transferred, since the IDE controllers are the same... then just install some other vga - and sounddrivers to operate...

But... somehow with the new hard drive and therefore installation, date/time settings are lost after a restart or power off...
I also discovered that the installation of 'old' will not go into sleep - or standbymode... it will only close...

Then. I'll make a recovery disk hard 'new' facility, because it is faster than the original that came with the A40.

I'll keep things updated here... also because this isn't a real solution to the question...

Now, the question is: what makes the time/date setting go lost after this laptop with a non-on-this-laptop-installed-OS off the power?

  • RTC battery is low or CMOS incompatible chksum on a new Tecra M4?

    Hello

I bought my Tecra M4 in November, making it relatively new.

Since then, I got the following message to the ignition on four occasions:

RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent *.
    Press [F1] to set Date/time.

Why is it that happens on a new laptop? And with relatively long intervals (4-6 weeks)?

Is that what I can do to check for hardware errors?

I prefer not having to send to my computer right now (reviews of spring to come to the top and from one month summer session).

    Any help/ideas are appreciated.

    Kind regards
    Thor

    Hi Thor

As far as I know is not a hardware problem. Connect the camera to the power adapter and leave it for 20 to 24 hours.
I hope you use it very often and the battery can be charged at all times.

I took the laptop to my local dealers who replaced the CMOS battery and advised me to leave the machine 'fees' for 6 hours [what I did], and the problem persists. Is there advice that I could follow to remedy the situation?

  • Satellite A45 - S121 RTC battery low or unstable CMOS

I have a Toshiba A45-S121 that I got from a friend who has left the country...
I keep going back to the same message over and over again and cannot activate it because it keeps doing again and again.

The message is: "RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent, press F1 to reset the date and time." It would have been great if it was, that I should have done, but at this stage no button does nothing, and the only thing I can do is to restart... I looked on the net, and someone said to recharge, the main battery for 8 hrs, will do... NOT.

Another said to rest with charger for 15 h and have the laptop on at the same time... NO help there.
Another was told to change the battery Cmos... Did this... NO help.

I tried F12 thing... the computer is located in the startup Toshiba logo, and as soon as I press another key, it goes back to this message... I can't do the BIOS, and I can't run it from a CD, until I have this message.

    HELP PLEASE.

    Hanks a lot.

    > The message is: "RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent, press F1 to reset the date and time." It would have been great if it was, that I should have done, but at this stage no button does nothing, and the only thing I can do is to restart

Usually this or similar message appears if the battery CMOS/RTC would be empty.
In this case, you should be able to solve this problem of the RTC battery.
    How to recharge?
The laptop must be turned on and connected to the power supply for approximately 24 hours.

But I see you've also already replaced the RTC battery and this message still appears.
In addition it seems that you are not able to access the BIOS to change the date/time settings.
Well, this would mean that there is a serious problem on the motherboard

I think that only a laptop computer technician would be able to help you.

  • How to recalibrate battery on Satellite Pro A10?

The battery that came with my laptop has begun behaving oddly a couple of months (it's almost two years, Satellite Pro A10). She arrive at about 50% and then immediately fall to about 2 percent. After setting up with this for a few months, I finally bit the bullet and bought a new battery (charge not trivial, I might add). The new battery behaves exactly the same way. Someone has any advice on how to recalibrate battery PC Toshiba laptop, or verify that the problem is with the system and not the battery itself?

    Hi Richard,

Check in options power management Toshiba you have the right setting for your type of battery. In my opinion, there are different settings for long battery duration, high power batteries, etc..

If the problem persists, then I recommend re-installing the power management utility to make sure that it is not at fault, and if the problem persists, then there may be a problem with the power system of your laptop, in which case you will need to return to an authorized Service Agent Toshiba.

    Good luck

  • Replacement battery for Satellite Pro A10

    Hello
I'm trying to find a replacement battery for Satellite Pro A10, PA3284U-1BRS, 10.8 v original battery, 3600 MAH. A couple of merchants said that it is no longer available and has been replaced by PA3285U-1BRS, the amperage is a little higher at 4400 MAH, but declared voltage is now 11.1 VOLTS. Is this normal, or are they trying to just me to pawn off the coast with something that is really not compatible with the specifications of the original part. I can't find the part for the moment available on the Toshiba site, seems to have been the only way to get a true replacement who would be sure to adapt. Battery wizards there know what would actually?

    Thank you.

    Hello

As far as I know, that you can also use this battery.

  • Satellite Pro A10 battery won't hold a charge

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A10. I used it for a few years on AC power only. I tried to use it on battery, but I don't have that about 5 minutes before switching to standby mode. She descends slowly from 100 percent to about 96 percent then powers. When I plug directly support I have only 3% of the power.

I thought if I totaled the battery, so I bought a new, but the same thing happens.

Do you think that my new battery is duff too?
I am running the latest version of the bios (1.30).

    Hello

There must be problem with electronic power supply electronic card. The battery capacity is controlled from there.

  • Satellite Pro A10 display and DVD issues

I have a Satellite Pro A10 about 2 1/2 years and have never had a problem with him, but the other day when I tried to watch a DVD, look at a program (InterActual Player) opened as usual and then a few more seconds later the display will change in very low resolution (something like 14 colors, almost a negative and all image was massive Although I don't remember the actual numbers) and he said that I had to reboot in order to return things to normal. I tried the same DVD in Windows Media Player, as well as to try other DVDs and initially that the DVD would play in Media Player but not Interactual but now the same thing happens any DVD or player that I use.

Also, I went on the computer this morning and got a message saying that the battery is low (although it was because I had not plugged the computer again, nothing to do with the last errors) and the computer is in standby. I plugged in the computer and you press the power button to wake the screen is very dark but visibly pixelated (I think that's the word, he had visible points, as if someone were holding a magnifying glass up to her) and got very slowly brighter until there has been a series of narrow bright stripes, like a giant pixel or a tv test screen.
This could be a problem with the display drivers (even though I tried to update and we found since I always see a message 'Cannot find the requested string' by the icon for display in the control panel), the screen itself, or something else entirely?

Sorry it's so long, but I thought it is best to include all the details in case it has been important. I hope someone can help!

    Hello Nicola

As you know on this path is not easy to say what may be the problem. In my opinion, it is important to see what is happening exactly. I assume that your problem is not caused by the display driver. Try to properly test and notice where the screen is very dark.

If this problem is repeated again and again that I recommend you backup your data and reinstall the unit with recovery media. On this path of unity will be factory configured and you can see if the problem still occurs. If so, it may be just caused by a malfunction of the equipment.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite Pro A10 - no valid Windows XP installed

Legitemately bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 laptop, but there is not a valid Windows XP Professional installed. I have the original product key.

Can I download this, free preference?

    Hello

How have you noticed that an invalid Windows XP installed?

Usually if you reinstall your laptop with Toshiba recovery disk it s a copy valid XP is already activated and there is nothing to do.

In addition, the product key on the lower side of your laptop belongs to the preinstalled version of Windows XP and t can be used with the other XP discs.

  • Satellite Pro A10 stops on specific opportunities

    Hello!

I am owner of a satellite Pro A10 (PSA15E). It's hard drive stop working, the pc could not find. So I bought a new, a samsung with 160 GB, IDE, of course.

Now when I was installing windows, in the part file copy, it just stopped. When I boot it says initialization file fails, then I guess it stops when it was to transfer this important part.

If I run the cd again, it does not format or reinstall/repair request, it loads only some files and try to start windows and then stops.

Now, this is where the tricky part comes in: the power led in turn, then again very fast when it stops. I do not use the battery (it is already dead too), and I use an universal AC, a give, 70W adapter. I tried formatting via a LiveCD Ubuntu, with no luck, because when I choose "Try Ubuntu" or "Install Ubuntu" it stops a little as he thought, and then when he is about to leave the menu and do something, it stops in place.

My only guess, is that this laptop doesn't want me more :(

I could really use some help, I just spent some 50 on a HARD drive for him and he is the only laptop that I have. I don't think that it is a question of temperature because it stops just at specific times, on some specific choices. If I just let it hang there in the menu (the Ubuntu live CD one) it is not closed. Only when I want him to go further.

Any help/response is greatly appreciated, and if I take a little too much time to respond is because I don't have access to internet at work now.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

Theoretically, this could be an overheating problem as Akuma wrote. Therefore, you must clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow the dust from the cooling fans and can improve the cooling of the laptop.

In addition, it would be interesting to know what happens if you run Toshiba Recovery disk recovery facility this work?

  • Satellite Pro A10 - no answer - enter HDD #0 error

Pro warranty A10, student daughter portable computer reports no longer works, already suspended and finally no response from any other lights at the entrance to DC charger is connected.

Clean fan/radiator, a lot of lint etc. removed. No obvious signs to know why the Board me dead however. Confirmed with counters that this DC of the shipper in me Board. Ordered A replacement me Board, FHZSY1, eBay and equipped, taking the precautions of static, but can not confirm that they were done by the seller.
Now, new Board of Directors recognizes the input DC and recharged the battery OK. Tried to turn on the laptop but terrible mistake INPUT #0. Concluded that the HARD drive had also been damaged. New (Toshiba box) arrived two days later but gave the same error when mounted. BIOS won't recognize HARD at all. Tried all the messages on the verification of the connections and certainly not of mounted riders. Laptop will continue to start from a system CD, as it may then think the new me Board is OK

Are the HARD drive of the Satellite Pro A10 different from those on the A10 satellite earlier?
Any other ideas on this INPUT #0 error?
    Thank you

    Hello

As much as I know there is no different hard disks and your use of the same laptop as most other Toshiba laptops. I can just write that this error is certainly resulting HARD disk problem. The HARD drive is obviously not identified by BIOS correctly.

Sorry but I have no more info on this subject. By the way: is the motherboard new or used one?
